Lilly our server made us feel welcomed and special! She was thoughtful in recommendations for concern about spice-heat levels. The chips starter was delish and the entrees yummy! You most likely will have to wait to be seated even with a reservation which we had, but I would defiantly go back ❣️

Highly recommend making a reservation, nonetheless we didn't wait much longer than 35 min or so. Everything we had for dinner was absolutely delicious though. We left very full and happy!

Food, Service and Atmoshphere all earn 5 stars! This restaurant has been one of my favorite dining experiences ever! Any one of my friends or family members that come into town will be going here because it was not only incredible delicious, but a great experience. The chips and salsa to start are awesome. One of the salsas has a sweet and refreshing blast of diced tomato and onion I have never encountered before. I got the Tiki Mocktail and it was exactly what I was looking for. The Ceviche de Ahí and Guacomole were sooooo good! I was just about ready to leave my review after those dishes because of how good those appetizers were. For my main meal I got the Seafood Enchiladas and everything was cooked to perfection. The green sauce on the Enchiladas was sweet which matched perfectly with the lobster/shrimp in the enchilada. For dessert we got the Churros con Helado and the Butter Cake, and both of them hit the exact spot to top off a fantastic meal. If you have the time, come here! Enjoy it, basque in it and come again!

This place is delicious and I liked the ambiance. The service was excellent. We got the El Jefe burrito and it was HUGE. Definitely would order it again. It was so good.

What can I say that already hasn't been said. The Chips & Salsa alone are the reason to go. The best Chips, Salsa & refried beans comes hot and fresh to your table. Our friends had the Chile relleno's times 2 and loved the dish so much they went home and made it there! We had the combo plates which were also good. Needed a little more food on the combo plates but all in all this is the best San Clemente Mexican restaurant I have found so far.

Best restaurant that I have ever been to. Our server Joe was incredible and attentive to our needs and questions on the menu. We ordered the birria tacos and the taco sampler that came with a steak taco, pork taco and 2 chicken tacos. The chips and salsa were amazing. The food was outstanding and so what the service and atmosphere. I wish y'all could open a location over in WA state. We will be back sometime as this is the spot for us!

We have been coming to Nick’s and South of Nick’s for several years always with the same awesome service and excellent food. This night was no exception. We were seated exactly at the time of our reservation. They took our drink order and promptly brought us warm chips and three dips including the bean dip that’s so delicious. I decided to go with a plate I’d never tried before, the Chipotle Dusted Sea Bass and I was so glad I did. Everything about it was perfect. My wife ordered the Filet and Grilled Romaine. To finish we got the Warm Butter Cake to share. The mixed berries on top makes it one of the best desserts in Southern California.

Went with three girlfriends and all of our food was so good. The flavor was spot on and the portions were as expected. Music was a little loud if that bothers you but we didn’t mind. Steak was good quality and the queso appetizer was awesome. Will return again. Ambience was nice. The waitress was fine but she had too many tables to keep up.

We’ve been here multiple times and tried various dishes. I love their (free) appetizer dip trio, the guacamole, and the appetizer shrimp. Steak fajitas are the bomb. I can also recommend the enchiladas divorcadas although they’re on the smaller portion size. Customer service is excellent but there has been a few times we went where we were rushed to finish. Like I barely put down my utensils and they scooped up my plate, and gave the check to turn the table over. That aside, ill continue to be a loyal customer!

🌮 🥑 🌯 Nice big space with a good size waiting area. They have plenty of options of burritos, tacos, and other Mexican dishes. I have the fish tacos which were really good. Next time, I will have to try the carnitas. The salsa with chips are super tasty and are served complimentary.

We have been going to Nicks for years, but this was our first visit to South Of Nicks. Heard good things and it did not disappoint. I would consider this as upscale and fresher tasting Mexican food. The quality was spot on and the service was very good. The chips and 3 varietal salsas were tasty and good starter to our meal. We really enjoyed the tortilla soup - nice amount of chicken and fresh vegetables, good flavors and nice avocado. The duo platter was a good choice as you can choose from enchiladas, tacos (soft or crispy) and two sides. We went with a cheese enchilada and a chicken taco and beans and Mexican corn as the sides. All were fresh and tasty. Topped it off with a craft beer and made for a good meal. It is a nice place with bar seating but the place can get crowded on weekends. Parking isn't easy so you may have to walk a bit. Can't wait for the Del Mar location to open

Restaurant is in a challenging location. Parking is like finding a spot in a haystack. Very noisy. Expected more for food choices. A lot of "fried" items. Tacos were over cooked (tortillas). Server did not check on our party very frequently. Think I wd try alternate restaurant selection next time.

This has always been a place. I have enjoyed dining. I took my leadership team there for dinner we enjoyed drinking appetizers and after several hours, the manager came to tell us they can no longer serve us. I spent quite a bit of money. This is very unprofessional. It’s not like they had a long line of people waiting to be seated. There were many available tables. I will never return again. We felt very discriminated against.
