Avis sur Nico's Fish Market San Diego
Seriously memorable experience. Great personable service, beautiful presentation, and truly delicious fresh fish. The poke bowl had some am I g sauces and sesame seeds, also had a few slices of fresh ginger which paired so well with the dish. The salmon burrito was freshly made and warm. The inside was very nice and clean. The menu was simple to understand. The concept of having fresh fish on display in the front as you order, getting to point and pick out which fish you want is fantastic. Very excited to come back.
Delicious food with quality ingredients. Poke was fresh, but with an unwanted creamy sauce. Green Thai curry was flavorful, thankfully not sweet, perhaps needed more cooking. Disparate flavors hitting at different times. Nico burrito tasted fresh. Coconut was one of the best I’ve had in the US. Balanced and not sweet. Pro tip: you can ask them to crack it open to scoop out the flesh
This place is a total gem. The fish was fresh, fresh, fresh. The flavours were light but punchy. And we’re yearning to come back for more! Started with the spicy tuna ceviche which was phenomenal. Exquisite tuna — refreshing and punchy flavours. Then my boyfriend got two tacos — swordfish and halibut — both receiving rave reviews. I got the halibut plate (which is GF without the sauce) and it was yummmmyyyy!
Such a hidden gem. I’m absolutely obsessed with this place and come here 1–2 times a week. Easily the best fish burrito I’ve ever had—super fresh, packed with flavor, and surprisingly light. They also sell fresh fish to take home and cook, all locally caught by them daily. Supporting local fishermen and entrepreneurs while eating this well just makes it even better. This is a must-visit—I can’t recommend it enough.
This was our favorite spot so far in San Diego!! Incredible fresh food! And awesome service! Highly recommend Nikos burrito, and that sauce 👌 yuuuum!!! Very efficient set up too! AMAZING!!!! I would eat this every day if I lived here!!!
My new favorite casual restaurant in San Diego! I would recommend getting anything with the “Nico‘s fish” especially the burrito! Their food is so fresh and leaves you feeling great.
A constant line and the owner walking in fisherman’s boots are definitely a sign of this place being the right choice to eat some seafood and fish. I went for an ahi tuna salad and a swordfish sandwich with lemon-garlic sauce. Both were amazing. The tuna meat was so tender and delicious, but the swordfish sandwich stole the show as it was simply exceptional. They know how to grill fish (it was very juicy, which isn’t always the case as non-pros overcook it and it is too dry), together with some veggies, that homemade lemon-garlic sauce, and a toasted bread it was simply a heavenly taste. 😋 Their spicy sauce was also spot on + no need to buy drinks as there is free lemon water, which leaves more money to be spent on fish 🐠
Good snapper nico’s burrito, I dont normally order fish burritos but like that theirs didnt add cheese, but black beans and rice. Long wait to order but fresh $14 seafood option and nice staff
We got the poke burrito and ahi poke. They were both delicious. My only complaint is the sinew left in the poke cuts. It’s the connective tissue that is typically cut out of fresh ahi poke. Still delicious. We enjoyed the service and smiles.
Great place for some fresh fish foodies. Between the freshly caught salmon sandwich and the calamari steak strips, I was one happy camper. Their chips and guacamole were so good too! The ceveiche was equally fresh, zesty, and deliciously paired with the guacamole and chips. Another must try in the area.
Fresh choice seafood in a variety of plate types. El Chinesca and calamari steak were prepared perfectly each with a symphony of flavors. Well designed space always has a line out the door for good reason. Premium price, super premium product
This place exceeds expectations. First off, the location is pristine and zero fishy smell. Everything there is spotless. The fish is gorgeous in the case for the fresh catch. We had the Ono blackened on a sandwich and it changed my life, incredible flavor, so perfectly cooked, and the most memorable fish sandwich I’ve ever had. I like to think I’m an adventurous eater. The fish was so fresh, I think you could probably feed it to your mom that doesn’t eat fish — that good. And the bread is so fluffy with a perfect golden brown toasted end, delicious. The burrito with the breaded snapper was magical, don’t even waste your time going anywhere else. Finally, the gentleman that helped us was so chill and helpful. You can tell everyone that works there takes pride in their work. 10/10 would go here again, may even plan a trip back with this place specifically in mind!
We stumbled upon this absolute gem of a place completely by chance after visiting the Blenders store nearby, and I’m so glad we decided to stop here! From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. The service was truly exceptional—friendly, attentive, and thoughtful without being overbearing. Every staff member seemed genuinely passionate about making our experience memorable. As for the food, it was nothing short of incredible. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, as if it had been prepared just moments before reaching our table. The flavors were vibrant and well-balanced, and you could tell that high-quality ingredients were used in every dish. Each bite was a delightful experience, and we found ourselves savoring every moment of the meal. This place is definitely a hidden treasure, and I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by—you won’t be disappointed!
Outstanding Experience at Nico’s Fish Market! This is hands down the craziest and most amazing seafood spot I’ve ever been to. If you’re in San Diego, you absolutely must check this place out! The fish is as fresh as it gets—straight from the sea to your plate. You can literally taste the difference. I had the Ono fish, shrimp, half-shell oysters, and halibut, and every single bite was phenomenal. The flavors were bold, clean, and clearly crafted with care and fresh local ingredients. The atmosphere is vibrant and right on the waterfront, and the staff made me feel right at home. I’ve attached a few photos from my visit so you can see for yourself just how incredible the food looks—and trust me, it tastes even better! This place isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience. Nico’s Fish Market sets the bar high. Fresh. Local. Unforgettable.
Excellent excellent, fresh fish, reasonable prices, friendly service, VERY popular. Order at the counter, hustle and get your table, inside or outside. Most people seemed to take out their order. Check the display case! That is actually what you get. The fish are prepared in an almost artful way, very individual, not just slapped down on a piece of psoer plate... tho crowded when we went, there was no rush
These guys know what’s up with fresh fish. Everything I have had here has been so fresh, perfectly seasoned. Great location, local fisherman with fresh caught fish. Bomb.com/ highly recommend this small business if you love fresh fish.
Wasn’t sure what to order, the gentleman at the counter was polite and he helped me with a breeze! I ended up ordering half a dozen half shell oysters 🦪 (baby babe) unbelievably delicious, with a dash of Nico‘s habanero hot sauce… it was to die for!! 🫨😮💨🤤 the Ahi poke bowl, one scoop was enough to fill me. I ate the oysters on the half shell outside while I waited for the pokey bowl to be made ! 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fresh catch. Clean and neat. Place for a quick and fresh bite along the beach. Uniqueness: 8 Value: 8 Experience: 8

We had lunch there today. The fish was truly delicious, and the waiters were very friendly. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys fish, both raw and cooked.😁
The food was absolutely delicious! Everything looked amazing, from the catch of the day to the Ahi Tuna Poke bowls. The kind young lady Annika working the front was so friendly and helpful when it came to picking what to get as again, everything looked amazing. She knew her stuff and honestly made the experience even better!
So good we went twice in the same day for lunch and dinner. Tried most of the daily catches: ono, halibut, ahi, sea bass. All were cooked well and delicious. I’d recommend not to get the ceviche here. Too much fish and not enough of the veggies. Oscar’s across the street has a much better ceviche

Incredibly fresh and delicious food, wow. Give this place a go. Went with the ceviche and chips 8 oz and the local sea bass plate tagged alongside a fresh coconut water. Very filling and feel great after eating.
Fresh high quality seafood done right at reasonable prices. The fish was cooked simply and perfectly to showcase the fish. Loved how they didn’t drench the fish in sauce. We got the daily catch fish place with ono fish, poke salad (fish was diced too finely imo) and ahi tuna sandwich. Can’t go wrong with any of the entrees here! Another plus is there’s outdoor seating so the pup can come along.
Freshly caught lightly panko fried snapper burrito was spectacular. Ahi tuna poke was tender and packed with flavor and spices that didn't overpower the fish. Even the rice and beans were immaculately prepared, everything tastes so freah, from the pico to the bright green avocado slices. Don't bother going anywhere else for seafood in PB.
Tried the Nico taco and fish sandwich (Nico style though not on the menu-thanks!), guac and pico. Everything was tasty and creative without being over the top. Needed some salt for our preference (which we got) but other than that, fresh and enjoyed. Bit of a long wait and constant line out the door but was able to grab a table inside.
a word of caution for the hungry: be prepared to wait. Our journey from the front door to finally getting our food took nearly an hour, and we saw the same story unfolding around us. Many people arrived with bright smiles that slowly faded into "hanger," a common side effect of the long wait. We also had to clean our own table because the staff behind the counter have to prepare the dish and also doing the orders. Staff are tired and unfriendly. But here's the good news: the food itself lives up to the hype. The poke bowls were fresh, flavorful, and wonderfully tasty. The quality of the fish and the vibrant mix of ingredients made the entire meal a genuinely delicious experience.
