A well-designed (yet down-to-earth) coffeehouse in Portola. Refined industrial interior, concrete walls and antique barrel wood ceilings. Very well-made coffee beverages. Cute indoor seating for working, luscious outdoor patio seating next to the noble mission Green Between, an initiative of Portola Garden Club. Currently, top of the list for unique SF coffeehouses.
The coffee was great, but the atmosphere deserves 10 stars
What a cool place with amazing service and beautiful coffee and tea. Accidentally stumbled upon this gem and was so happy to find it. Can’t wait to come back! 🩷🩷🩷 very cool artistic vibe
I love the coffee; I ordered a cappuccino, and the temperature was on point. However, I didn’t feel very welcome, even though it wasn’t rush hour. Parking was difficult, but after I managed to get a spot, it was worth it.
The espresso is perfection! 10/10!!! The staff was so kind and attentive! The barista made a truly an exceptional Espresso… and then did it again! I so appreciate the attention to detail, whether it’s the mugs, the local artisan crafts for sale, the food, the sweetness given to all the customers. Even though I’m not a local, I felt very welcomed —somewhat of an anomaly these days at high-end coffee shops. The ube toast was a revelation in simple yet exquisite flavor. Expertly toasted, fresh butter… Just all-around lovely. A tiny location that is worth a stop if you’re anywhere nearby.
I love this coffee shop. It is a great meeting place for the community, and the people are so friendly. The coffee is excellent, flavorful, and made with love.
Delicious and artfully designed space. The coffee was excellent and I’m glad they have decaf. The design of the space is great with wood used previously on water pipes for Hetch Hetchy dam used as the ceiling decoration. And there’s a tiny garden area also. Just be aware that there’s not a lot of food, just toast. And, there’s a number of seats but only one real table in the small space. And there is a bit of noise from the freeway. Overall, it’s a very creative and fun space
Hey Neighbor! A barista friend recommended this new spot in the city and I was excited to give it a try when I'm back to the city for a visit. I love the set up, smooth but not swanky. It has a secretive outlook but once you are here it feels cozy. I had a latte. Coffee tastes great. The barista is very chill and friendly, had a little bit trouble making his first coffee of the day so I'm not gonna hold the abstract latte art against him, haha. Overall I like this place and I'd love to check it out again the next time I'm back to the city.
Absolute gem of a cafe. Where do I start. The wonderful community garden outside? The four barrel quality of coffee? The espresso and praline pairing? The rize up bread? The concrete art interior? The wonderful two women who own and run the place? The neighborhood vibe? ... Well, all of it. This place is so wonderful. I will be a regular and i live 30 mins away! Keep it up you two!
Really nice coffee shop, with the coolest patio garden. There was an awesome shop dog there I got to meet, and the staff was super nice. Coffee was excellent, I got a vanilla late. I'll definitely be back! Edit to add they also have parking, which if you ever travel in the city, you know is hard to come by. It's on a quiet little alcove.

Absolutely delightful get-away tucked into a cul-de-sac. The cappuccino was possible the best I have had in this part of San Francisco.
Great cafe, loved my time here. Very friendly and welcoming service, cute dogs outside. Had an iced latte and the ube sliced bread was scrumptious - took it to a park and sat - picture perfect.
Amazing shop! The coffee is delicious, and they have a unique turmeric ginger flavor right now! The shop is full of gorgeous art, and surrounded by neat projects like a garden, a beautiful mural, lots of seating, and other art! There’s also a little library too!
This place is a community hub. Big thumbs up. The owner is awesome and their dog Dino is super smart. There's a pretty good sized free library, and Dee gave me a book about birth doulas, something I'm interested in. There's a front row view of a collective neighborhood art garden project/installation, where the whimsically extraordinary entrance is framed by an up-cycled metal gate, a creation of the accomplished sculptor Dana Albany. Hey Neighbor Café puts Portola on the map of places to visit in SF.

Very beautiful cafe! Ambience is calm and coffee is bold. Oatmilk and almond milk are available aside from regular milk. Not sure how it is regularly but I believe the owner took the order and made the coffee so it did take a bit of time if you’re rushed. Dino her dog was at the entrance and very inviting!
What a cute aesthetic little spot that I found super close to me! Good: - The vibes here are special, it's got an overall rustic jungle look and being next to a garden adds to the experience! - The cinnamon sugar ube toast was incredibly memorable! Super thick slice of bread as well - Good outdoor seating and lots of spots available Bad: - The peppermint mocha here was just alright, it was a little too bitter for me - A little slow on the service, there's just one guy making all of it Overall really liked this hidden gem of a place!
It’s like a hidden coffee shop next to a small garden with some benches/ tables/ chairs and a little free library outdoor area for people to sit, connect and recharge. Inside the coffee shop also have a sitting area and a few sitting there with laptop and they shop provides some board games as well. One thing notice as I got into the coffee shop, there are some flies around the shop, but other than that it’s a cool place to get a cup of coffee.

Was excited to come here and try. It said open at 730am on Google and Yelp but it's now 8am and not open yet. No signs or update on whether there is a change of opening time at the door. 😞 There were a few customers waiting outside when I was there. They said sometimes they open at 8am and sometimes 9am. Unfortunately I came too early. 2 stars is for the cute place and 2 parking spots. Lol

Wish I had the same service as the others that wrote reviews. My girlfriend and I walked in and waited at least 10 minutes to order, as no one was at the register. Finally a girl came from the back room with a vape in her hand and just approached us without even a hi, waiting for us to order. We ordered and, in silence, she rang us up. After getting our coffee, we asked for a splash of oatmilk and the first words from her mouth was “that will be an extra $1.25”. Ok, no oatmilk. After finishing our coffee I figured I’d be nice and bring up our cups to the register, and instead of the girl being grateful, she was just sitting down behind the register, vape in hand, and says “there’s a dishes bin over there”. The coffee itself tasted like the cheap Bun coffee you get at a diner as well, not worth the money. Will not be coming back.

Went here to try the coffee as we aren’t from the area. The barista was BEYOND rude, belittling us when asking questions about the drink, then when we would ask questions such as “Where are the lids?” She would roll her eyes and dismiss us then walk out of the cafe. Such terrible service and would not come back.
If you want bad coffee with a side of attitude, come here. I don’t normally leave negative reviews but this one was warranted. Ordered two lattes and they weren’t good sadly, and our presence seemed to inconvenience the lady working….
