Excellent if you are craving for Indian food. Their special lunch combos are awesome. Have been to many Indian restaurants in the Bay. This was by far the best for combo choices offered. We ordered four different combos and all were finger licking good. One extra star for being open to serve all day long, unlike most who close in the afternoon. Great and polite staff too.
Lunch combos were amazing We had chicken korma , Chiken Makhni in the combo and it was delicious. The Salad portion they gave with this combo was good too. Mango lassi can be better but no complaints Their appetizer combo is a must try which has onion pakora, Samosa and papadum Overall we had an amazing lunch experience here and would definitely recommend to try this place out.
What a lovely and friendly place to enjoy a meal with friends and families. The vibes are great (though it can be a bit noisy to hear). Food is excellent especially the chicken tikka masala. Owners dropped by our table twice to see how we enjoyed our food. It was around Diwali so we got a house dessert - yum! It is right next to the West Portal municipality station too!
The food was very good and the service was red carpet. We arrived at 5pm on Sunday and did not have reservation and did not have to wait. The server, the owner. He was very good of taking care of our party of 8. We ordered, calamari pretty good. Bengan pakoras, deep fried egg plant, actually pretty good. The bread basket, chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, machi masala, tandoori prawns, mixed seafood and also ordered two rice. Just right for 8 ppl. Sorry, forgotten to take pictures. This is our third times coming here. Must try the machchi masal, salmon very good. One of the best. The 2nd one is chicken tikka masala. The place was super busy and the owner told us no need to rush and we had brought in the cake. If you want good Indian food and great service. You need to try this restaurant. Make reservations if you have a large party. Black coffee was fresh and very good.
I went here because I was craving some good biryani and the last time I came here with a friend, it was pretty good. I had asked them to make it spicy but it was still pretty bland when I got the food. But they were kind enough to make me another biryani, this time more spicy. But I decided to get the naan and malai kofta instead. The naan and malai kofta was rich, creamy and deliciously. It was presented very well too. The kofta balls were freshly fried and brought out in a rich gravy. The basil garlic naan was delicious as well- would recommend adding butter to it though. Later the staff were so nice, they offered to give me some biryani for free anyways. This time they made it spicy. I’m Indian and I can take a good level of spice and they made it indian spicy. I believe the spiciness of Indian food is what gives it that intense and rich flavor and I wish it can be translated when making it for people belonging to different countries. I really appreciated the gesture by the staff and enjoyed my food. I had to take away some food as I couldn’t finish it in one sitting.
Absolutely! Indian cuisine has become a staple in the culinary landscape of the USA, offering a diverse array of flavors, spices, and dishes to suit every taste preference. Whether you're craving a comforting bowl of biryani, indulging in the creamy richness of butter chicken, or savoring the crispy texture of samosas, you can find a plethora of options to explore. Moreover, the presence of vibrant Indian communities in many cities ensures authenticity and accessibility to traditional ingredients, enhancing the dining experience for enthusiasts of Indian cuisine. Whether you prefer dining out or ordering takeout, Indian food in the USA caters to a wide range of preferences and occasions, making it a beloved choice for many food enthusiasts.
Beautiful restaurant, great food, quick and friendly service. The roti (bread) at Roti is exceptional, start with the plain to get a taste before you venture down the flavors... you won't be disappointed. Lamb vindaloo was flavorful and the kids loved the chicken Tikka masala as their gateway to Indian cuisine. If you can stand the heat, the owner informed us that you can up the heat level in a few degrees from the menu to include authentic India hot (I wouldn't suggest that for the uninitiated). Service was friendly, fast, and accommodating for our requests. Would definitely recommend.
Nice little Indian restaurant in west portal. Perfect for comfort food. Everything is delicious. Restaurant ambiance is very soothing. Reasonably priced. The owners are very polite and accommodating. They have a good selection of veg and non veg dishes. They serve the Indian chai on request, it’s amazing. I had a sore throat and the chai was such a relief. I have been here a lot of times and will keep coming back!
It is a great place to have Indian food. It is very clean, and food was served hot. Chicken tandoori was very nice to have and was well presented. Goat biryani was tasty too (but not amazing). Quantity was great, we were two people having lunch. We ordered one goat biriyani and a chicken tandoori and it was great quantity for both of us. Quite amazing service too. Provided us with whatever we needed and asked for some extra sauce too and they provided for free. Parking is limited but on street, it should not be hard to find some paid parking. On weekends, especially in the evenings, it is better to be there on a reservation. They were fully booked until 9:30 Pm at night starting from 5:00pm. * Mens Washroom can be improved a bit more. Women’s was okay I think.
Very good food. Me and my 2 adult daughters enjoyed the Roti feast for 2- was more than enough food for 2. Right amount of spices! Very friendly staff (Bob)! Excellent location. I will definitely return here when I’m in the area.
I don’t review places that much at all, but had such a great experience here that I felt compelled to add a review! Got the naan, the chai, and tandoori chicken items. Everything was great. Met the owner, Pankaj, who was very kind and personable, made us really feel at home. All in all, highly recommend, will definitely be coming back often.

The lamb and the vegetable curry was some of the best food we’ve ever had!! Everything was incredible and the staff is amazing!

Really tasty warm spicy food for a rainy Sunday night in the city. My wife has celiac disease and they confirmed all the curries are gluten-free. We had the paneer jalfrezi and palak dal, both of which were fresh and scrumptious. Other people in our party had a variety of things, including the gobi special, which they all loved. Great for a big group, easy to access via Muni, what's not to love?
Not sure why this place isn’t ranked higher. Great service and chicken tikka masala was amazing with great rosemary naan bread. Sauces for the samosas were 10/10. Want to come back here for dinner since the cocktail menu looked great. Highly recommend
Returned to this spot after almost a year. Food and leftovers were so good almost came back the next day. All food was great but want to give special callout to lamb preparations, which my husband says is best he has ever had (i dont eat lamb) From another visit. Only disappointment was the chai. Burnt. Food continues to be top notch
Really great food and amazing service. The sauce on the chicken tikka masala was some of the best I’ve had. Rosemary naan and samosas were excellent.
One of the best Indian restaurants in the world. Mr Shah is fantastic. Love their mixed grill and I get my korma sauces on the side. Naan/biryani is spectacular. So is kulfi.
This restaurant has been in West Portal for many years and it's a very dependable and well-run restaurant. Is very authentic Indian selections.

We ordered the vegetable curry,. which was delicious! Because we couldn't have most of the appetizers because of cross contamination of gluten, I asked about the lamb samosas. The waiter was very thoughtful and suggested we get just the filling cooked in a pan without the wrapper that's always fried in the same oil as other breaded food. That's what they did for us, and it was still very tasty. He also brought some yogurt for us in case it was too hot! I also had a mango Lassi which was the best tasting one I've ever had . The owner was very knowledgeable about what we could and couldn't eat safety..
I loved Roti Indian Bistro, and the lunch combination on their menu is a lifesaver. You don’t have to buy two full meals, and you can get everything on one plate. They served us well and provided great service. I will definitely recommend trying out this place.

We have been waiting to try this place, as it’s always busy, so of course we assumed it was good. Yes, the food was good, but they really need to have more work on service. We called to say we would be ten minutes late to our reservation, but once seated saw no one except for menus and water for 20 minutes. A very nice and attentive younger waitress helped us promptly once I asked her about it, but she was clearly just helping cover whomever should have been there. We actually were unsure who our waitstaff was since there were several different people that attended to us. We then waited another almost 40 minutes for our food. As said the food was good, but we cannot recommend the naan bread. The owner checked on most tables and was kind and considerate, so that was a plus. I’ll also mention another time I stopped in one afternoon to ask about ordering take out, but the two people in the back just looked at me and no one came out to talk, so after five minutes I left. Not sure what happened there. They are very popular, which I’m glad for, but just wanted to leave an honest review from our experience. Also, it’s less noisy to sit outside.
Great spot for date night on a lively street surrounded by other restaurants and nightlife. We made reservations and had a smooth, welcoming experience from start to finish. The service stood out, our waitress was friendly, attentive, and helped guide us through the menu. We chose the pre-feast option, which was a fun way to sample multiple dishes in one sitting and is perfect if you want variety or are new to the menu. Unfortunately, the food itself was underwhelming for my taste. I usually love bold Indian flavors, rich spices, and vibrant presentation, and the dishes here felt a bit muted and washed out. We requested one dish to be spicy, but it barely had any heat. I had high expectations based on the experience and setup, but the food didn’t quite deliver for me.
