A exquisite atmosphere, absolutely a ideal area in San Francisco. If you find yourself catching too many drinks, the hotel is a great place to stay as well! Along with the best view you can get out in the city. Their menu might not be huge but the items they have are very versatile & great veggie substitutes if you don’t eat meat. I’ve been here already over a handful of times and I can’t get over THE TOP OF THE MARK!!
This bar is just the right amount of classy to fit its iconic views. Myself and a wedding party came here after the reception and we felt so high class here. The drinks were excellent and the views stunning. I will say though, closing this bar at midnight on a Friday night seemed a bit early, and I know myself and the rest of the wedding party could have kept going until 2 AM.

Top of the Mark is a must-stop every time we’re in San Francisco. We always try to swing by for at least one cocktail, and it’s especially meaningful to me because it’s where I proposed to my husband. The views of the city are awesome both day and night, and the atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between romantic and relaxed, great for a date or catching up with friends. It has a classic, old-school, upscale San Francisco vibe that never feels tired. Truly one of those places that makes the city feel special every single time.
Been here multiple times, and it never disappoints. I've yet to find any rooftop place that has the same ambience as Top of the Mark. This last visit I met a friend for a happy hour drink. It was the holiday season and all the drinks were holiday themed which I thought was cool. It was busy and no reservation, but they still were able to seat us in about 10 minutes. If yoy haven't been here, its a must go-to! The 360 views of the city from atop Nob Hill in this historic hotel is really something special.
Reservation is highly recommended, we went right when they open at 3PM and was able to be seated with a table overlooking the city and Golden Gate Bridge, be prepared to wait for cocktail waiter and cocktails to come around. Nice view, good service but do keep in mind for wait time to be seated and to get drinks.
Thank you for an amazing experience! We came in on wait list on 12/27/25 and were seated in a VERY reasonable time spot and were served very quickly! Food and drinks were wonderful. Appreciate the help with an underage guest getting a lovely table for her first experience at the Top of the Mark since she couldn’t sit at the bar!
My wife and I love going here around the holidays. On the first Saturday of every month they have a swing band and dancing in the center of the restaurant. Great views and festive drinks. We’ve made it a holiday tradition! We used the Sip Savvy app to find a great bottle of wine at a good price. Everything has a decent markup here, but Sip Savvy found the best bottle on the menu for reds was the 2020 Groth Cabernet Sauvignon at only ~1.6x markup. The best white/sparkling on the menu was the Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut Champagne at ~1.9x markup. Definitely check out this place around the holidays if you have a chance! Expect to wait ~30 minutes for a table, but well worth the wait.
I go to the Top of the Mark once a year every year, and it never fails to impress. The cocktails are always some of the best I’ve ever had. The live band is excellent and the ambiance is amazing. Sure the drinks are a bit pricey, but worth every dollar
⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ Visiting Top of the Mark in San Francisco had been on my bucket list, and I was glad to finally experience it before our event. We were quickly seated with one of the best views, which was truly stunning. The food and drinks were excellent—delicious and well-prepared. However, the service was disappointing. It took quite a while for our server to arrive, and there was confusion with the check, which got mixed up with my friend’s. The delay made us anxious, as we were close to being late for our event. Overall, an unforgettable view and great food, but the service needs improvement.
Incredible time with the loveliest staff. Highly recommend to anyone visiting San Francisco. Priceless views of the city. The staff even brought out gluten free bread options with the charcuterie board. So kind.
Well worth a visit for the views alone. Lively crowd and menu was tasty (apps and desserts only) while you sip on your wine or cocktail. My server Juliana was particularly welcoming and kind. A must do for a special occasion or for visitors from out of town. Recommended!
Birthday dessert at Top of the Mark! This enclosed rooftop experience inside the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins in San Francisco is a must. Cocktails, mocktails, small plates, live music, and incredible views of the city! We especially loved the Squadron Bottle story! During WII, soldiers would visit the Top of the Mark either as a farewell or a celebration when they came home. During that time, a tradition began. Soldiers would leave a bottle of bourbon with a written note taped around it. A shot was to be shared with fellow soldiers, and whomever took the last shot would have to replace the bottle with a personalized note. This tradition is still going today! Highly recommended for a romantic evening out!
Top of the Mark is a legendary roof top bar in Non Hill. The 360 views are amazing and the staff were really nice. Loved the Squadron Shot tradition and if you served should definitely partake and leave a bottle for your battle buddies.
The Top of the Mark is a high-end restaurant bar ideal for spending an evening with friends and/or loved ones. The space is great for special celebrations, anniversaries or dates. The Top of the Mark features a dancing floor and stage for music bands, a bar, and tables with a 360 degree views of the beautiful city of San Francisco, California. The Jazz nights with Nick Rossi and tge Swing Four are my favorites.
Top of the Mark is an absolute must when in San Francisco. This iconic rooftop lounge has been around since 1939 and still holds all the charm, elegance, and history that made it famous in the first place. From the moment you step inside, the classic decor and sweeping views set the scene. You really feel like you are stepping into a timeless part of the city’s story. The vibe is refined yet relaxed with soft lighting, live music on some nights, and a mix of locals and travelers soaking in the atmosphere. And the views are truly incredible. You can see the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay, the skyline, and even the Marin Headlands on a clear day. Whether you come at sunset or later in the evening, it is absolutely magical. We ordered the tuna tartare and the steak and both were outstanding. The tuna was fresh and well balanced with great flavor, and the steak was tender and cooked just right. The cocktails were also a highlight. They were thoughtful, creative, and very well made. Top of the Mark is not just a bar or a restaurant. It is a San Francisco institution that combines history, great food, and unforgettable views all in one place.
A group of my coworkers and I were staying at the Ritz Carlton Residences (I know!) on a Tuesday night and decided to walk here for some apps and cocktails around 7. It was an uphill walk, so we were hungry! The restaurant is on top of the Intercontinental Hotel, you just go straight to the elevators and push the T button. The hostess greeted us right away, my coworker called beforehand to make a reservation & the hostess happily remembered. We were seated right by the window on the left side when you walk in, I rec the left side, but can't really go wrong with either. In the middle is where live music takes place but there was none happening that night. Service was fast and friendly! Miguel was very attentive! Espresso martini was more coffee than creamy which I can't complain bc it was so good & strong! A must are the short rib sliders!! Huge chunks of short ribs then shred perfectly when you bite into them! Also love the shrimp tacos! Those tortillas may be some of the best I've had! The homemade ranch chips were good, not much ranch seasoning but good to snack on while drinking. Margarita flatbread was tasty as well. They also have an asparagus flatbread I want to try next time. Has an old school rich vibe to the place, carpet floors always give a vibe. Overall a great place w yummy food & drinks. Just like anywhere in SF, it's pricey! For three drinks & 3 apps for 3 people it was about 141$ including tip. But worth it for a night out!
This SF iconic bar is still wonderful. In an era of fancy, but weak cocktails, theirs are high test and delicious. We had the charcuterie for 32.00, plenty for 2. With $25.0] cocktails and amazing sunset views, lovely.
I would get service a five star but it was a busy night. They forgot about us and they didn't serve us right away. At this time we were VIP table. And I didn't feel like we were treated like one. But I still had a lot of fun and I would recommend this place in an heartbeat.
A fantastic Christmas brunch. Every detail was nailed. Food, service, piano, and that view, all paired for a wonderful experience. The history of this establishment and the "fleet" bottles took me back to a long ago place. From the bacon to the caviar, every bite was better than the next. Service was attentive and not overbearing. If you're looking for a wonderful Christmas brunch, or you're just in town and want to grab a drink, be sure to visit the Top of the Mark.

Super friendly staff, beautiful lounge with gorgeous views. Artisanal cocktails were delicious. We will make this a routine visit when we are in the city. Second only to an ocean beach sunset view!

Easily one of the best 360 views of San Francisco. Yes, even a must for locals. From weddings to happy hours, a must do if visiting. FYI: jeans and casual wear not allowed or heavily frowned upon.

Gorgeous views, and strong drinks. Thumbs up overall. The food was pretty good. The furnishings were dated, reminiscent of a cheap hotel. For the price, you would expect a nicer interior. The service was friendly and professional overall although a bit slow towards the end when they got crowded. Not sure we will go back too often, but worth visiting at least once.
Top of the Mark had some awesome views of San Francisco and decent drinks. I don't think I'd prioritize coming back next time I'm in town, but for sure would come back with a group.

Tawdry and tired, This place has not been classy since perhaps 60 years ago when this gaudy carpet and blocky interior was fashionable. The advertised views were obscured by a thick layer of condensation/grime on the glass that I have pictured. While the food was great (we had cobler and shortcake) the service was nothing special. It became hard to even think of enjoying the food, however, with the brain curdling grueling smoth jazz that they had playing. Surprising, considering the quality of the music being played in the lobby. Please consider putting on the playlist being played downstairs instead. It should also be said that one hoping to enjoy the remnants of atmosphere at this establishment would benefit from not seeing the greasy plastic mats in the storage room. This problem could be easily resolved with a door or curtain. This bar has a lot of potential. With some windex and a new interior designer interested in preserving the antique vibe this place could easily become one of the coolest bars in town. Wishing for the rapid achievement of this establishments potential.
