Yesterday I had de opportunity to try this place for the first time and I had a lovely lunchtime with great food and friendly service. I choose the patio area to enjoy the nice weather and the place didn't disappoint: the atmosphere is great, you can enjoy the fresh air in an open space without the sun in your eyes. I had: - Spritz Bianco 12 (prosecco, limoncello, club soda, lemon wedge, rosemary)- Peroni Nasto Azzurro (Italian beer) - Crostini Sampler (perfect to try a little bit of everything) - Melanzane panini (Roasted eggplant, sweet red peppers, garlic, crimini mushrooms, thyme, rosemary & a melted 5 cheese blend on a toasted baguette)- Prosciutto Calzone (shredded mozzarella, whipped ricotta mixture, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, EVOO, fresh romano, parsley). Everything was on point: temperature, flavor, texture, portions, and I'm still thinking about the dough's calzone with the different cheeses that I tasted. My advice: go to this place with extra time so you can have the whole experience without using your meal, and let yourself be indulged by the staff (with their service and suggestions).
It was my first time in, and I was so surprised at how great this place is is! To start, our server let us sample the wines on the wine list before pouring, which was a fantastic way for us to decide which wine to pair with our food. I also liked that there was an option to choose a bottle out of their wine library. Our food was so delicious. We ordered off of their fixed price menu for Dine DTSJ week and my main course was the salmon, which was cooked so perfectly - crispy and caramelized on the outside and still juicy in the center. My boyfriend ordered the eggplant dish and it was delicious as well - he had no complaints. Also, our food came out nice and hot! We will definitely be returning.
Always on my go-to Italian place list. I keep forgetting the name but what makes me keep coming back here is their pizza (bunch of mushroom/cheese, the honey at the bottom of the dough. Sweet&salty never fails).
What can you say about this place. THE BEST wine selection in San Jose easily. Amazing food, the pizza and charcuterie / cheese board were our favorites. Can not recommend this place enough.
Really great place for Italian bites and good wine selection. Service was great even though it got super busy for a Monday night. Would definitely go back and brings others. Casual atmosphere.
Blink and you might drive right past this place. So, take a drive into downtown SJ and venture into their Little Italy neighborhood, where you’ll find Enoteca La Storia; ELS, for those in the know. You’ll find a wine bar with excellent drinks and service (Mario is an amazing bartender, comedian, and storyteller); delicious Italian food; and charm. The restaurant space was closed for a private event, but I can only imagine the energy of the dining crowd filling that space on a regular evening. Anyhow, take a chance on trying out ELS.

I love going to Ancoroa Vino! The wine and champagne choices are the best in our area and the staff/owners are so very knowledgeable and friendly and love wine. The food is amazing! Its fresh and authentic. They keep the italian pizza/food menu simple but the dishes are absolutely delicious! No short cuts are taken with the food quality or service! Its our go to!
Picked up a few bottles here over the past couple of years, and it's become one of my go-to wine shops. Last time I was lucky enough to find a Chianti Classico with the Gallo Nero seal at a very reasonable price — a great bottle for the money. Too bad it's not in stock at the moment, but the overall selection here is excellent. Good range across regions and price points, with plenty worth discovering. Staff know their stuff without being pushy, which I appreciate.
We hosted a graduate mixer here and had a fantastic experience. The venue was clean, inviting, and perfect for our event. The pizza was excellent, and the champagne and wine were a hit with our guests. The staff were friendly, professional, and very accommodating. Highly recommend for private events!
I’m so happy we discovered this little gem of a place where you can get amazing wine for reasonable prices. The curation of wines to suit all tastes is incredible. I never leave there without at least 1 bottle, usually more. I love the events that are well managed and give you opportunities to drink lovely small vineyard wines, that you may not have visibility to, in an unpretentious and open atmosphere. The wine clubs have something for everyone and come with a built in socialization and connection to others in the community. Whenever I have a guest come, we head here for tasty food and lovely wine. Louise has made me feel like one of the family from the very first day I stumbled across this location and joined the club.
Delicious pizza in San Jose's Little Italy. We had the pepperoni pie and it was great fresh out of the oven. Our friends are regulars here and always get the truffle mushroom pizza. If you like wine, this is the place for you. The owner cultivates a wide range of locally sourced wines. I don't drink, so I can't give specifics. If you are in downtown San Jose you have to visit them
WE joined the wine club about a year ago and love it! The wines are delightful and so fun to try new things. We always learn something and we meet great people too. Staff is fabulous and take very good care of us.
Great wine shop with knowledgeable staff! They have a good mix of imported and domestic wines at all price points plus monthly tasting events. Shop locally at a place that goes the extra mile to find great wines and hidden gems.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Ancora Vino in Little Italy in San Jose. The charcuterie and wine were perfect for a light bite. The staff were so nice and very knowledgeable of the choices on their menu. A warm and wonderful experience! I look forward to another visit and maybe a NY style pizza next time.
I love coming here and enjoy a wonderful glass of wine with friends and family. The atmosphere is so cool, and the staff was perfect. If you haven't been, give them a try!
Do not snooze on joining this very active wine club. There are multiple tastings a week and frequent wine club events at very reasonable prices! The pizza is great here, and we're thrilled they've added pasta to the menu. The bar offers a good beer selection, a few liquor cocktails, and a mind-boggling wine list, plus the bottle shop options. Gratuity is built into the menu pricing. You can choose counter service (good for split checks) or opt for table service in the back.

We love our local Ancora Vino space, wine club and hang out spot. The monthly wine is a refreshing mix of wines I would otherwise not know. Service is friendly and knowledgeable.

I ordered Wild mushroom Ravioli, it was good, but less quantity. Ambience was good, service was quick. Veg options available too.

My husband and I visited on Saturday. Parking is limited, you may end up walking a couple of blocks. We came just for a glass of wine and a snack and stayed for a few glasses, pizza, and fries. The parmesan and truffle fries were outstanding! Nice and crisp fries with not too much truffle. We did half-and-half truffle and pepperoni pizza, very good! The crust is on the thinner side but well balanced, nice and chewy and delicious! Apple maps was getting a bit confused when I typed in the name of the restaurant, it wanted to take me to the Los Gatos location, I had to type in the address instead. The menu on the website is quite a bit different than what we experienced on Saturday, could be a difference between locations?
Just wanted to say that paying this bill for the “Grande Tavola “ a focaccia and a bottle of wine was crazy. We were 4 people and we literally had to divide everything in portions, look at picture 🤦🏼♀️when we were said that it was gonna be huge. Also the waitress came with the bottle of wine already opened which is something I have never seen anywhere. We couldn’t even taste the wine first and we don’t know for how long it has been opened. Is it really an enoteca? The quality of meats is the same of Supermarkets. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Very disappointing .
AUTOMATIC 18% UPCHARGE! I am fine to pay a great tip for great service but this place adds 18% without you, the customer having a say. I went for a single person "happy hour" and when I asked management about it they "escorted" me out. I would avoid the palace at all cost.
