Oh my goodness what can I say. We haven’t been there in a long time but the food is still delicious!! I started with a White Russian drink. Mixed perfectly 👌. Had the cheesy crab bread. That was something else. Such fresh crab and the sauce they put on it was just yummy 🤤. I had the beef raviolis and it was delicious as well. Hailey was our server and she was just the nicest as can be. Kept checking on us to see if we had needed anything. I really appreciate that kind of service. I think I’ll go back more often. Still sooooooo good 😊!!!
Celebrated Mother's Day here for my mom and it was a nice treat. We had a reservation set for 7pm and my husband notice a table to itself and asked if we can have the table for a little more privacy. The host first said that everyone in our party had to be present, but he said, ah! It's okay, table is all yours! I regret not getting our waiters name because he was very friendly as can be. Refilled our waters constantly because we seemed to all be dehydrated. Lol! Very attentive. Was patient with our ordering. He even gave us this delicious bread while waiting for my brother and his girlfriend to join us. I happened to order the special of the day which was a Chicken Romano. It came with a side of penne pasta, but since my pregnancy cravings wanted mashed potatoes, I asked if I can replace the pasta with the mashed potatoes and gravy. He did not hesitate to say yes. When I got my order, I am not sure, but I think it was the wrong dish. It sorta looked like a chicken piccata to me. I failed to say anything because I really loved it. It was so tasty. My mom, brother, and brothers girlfriend had the prime rib, medium rare, but the prime rib they had ended up being medium well. My dad had a rare prime rib, which he enjoyed because it was rare. My husband got the rib eye, medium well, but it happened to be well done. This is why -1 star. This place is great for seniors because they have a nice senior menu. My dad made me ask if they take AARP discounts which was so embarrassing. Even though the food we ordered were slightly off, we all had a great time and enjoyed our food! I even announced that my husband and I are expecting our first child!!
The brass door is an excellent local spot. The bar, food and crowd are amazing. My favorite things are the broiled prawns, French onion soup, halibut or the fish special, Cesar salad and prime rib. This is a regular spot for many people so the best option is to grab a spot at the bar. The drinks are classic, I usually stick to dirty vodka martinis that are strong and delicious, Martin is an excellent bartender. Not too many beers on tap but they carry things like kona brewing and Deschutes which will keep you happy. This has been a family favorite for generations, so I was surprised to see negative reviews. I recommend stopping in here frequently to become a regular if you can, it’s great.
Outstanding staff at the brass door make the difference. Great steaks, well put together sides and fresh cold beers on tap at the Brass Door. Lots of deliciousness on the menu here.
Mark, the Bartender, was Awesome… Food was absolutely perfect… Salad, Prime Rib and Ice Cream..!! Highly Recommend… For Sure Coming Back..!!

This is one of those "old school" style restaurants that is an icon to the "Tri-Valley" area, that has been there as far back as I can remember, and will still be there long after I am gone. I love the menu and the variety of dinners offered. I rediscovered this "Culinary Gem" recently while visiting some friends who recently moved to Danville. We had trouble deciding what to order because there were so many items that are not available at the typical theme style restaurants, that are popping up all over, like dandelions on a front lawn. Things like Breadad Veal Cutlets, and grilled Petrale Sole,( which was my choice and was perfect). I will be heading back there again and again , until I try everything on the menu...that's a lie...lol I probably will order the Sole everytime, because it was so good, like I always do. It's right off Hwy. 680, north of Crow Canyon Rd., on San Ramon Blvd . Easy to get to, with lots of parking and in my opinion, one of the few places worth driving over to from the East Bay for a meal.
Whow! Just want to share my thoughts on Brass Door Family style Restaurant. It's been around for decades, and the food is consistently delicious. The prices are more than fair, and the drinks are generously poured. It has a very welcoming, grandparent-like atmosphere, and the location is incredibly convenient. Going to this restaurant is always a worthwhile experience. I highly recommend Brass Door
We live local and have not been here before! We loved everything about our dinner. The food, the service, the local feel! It was perfect. Definitely hope to become a regular!!
Wonderful prime rib french dip and clam chowder. Calamari generous portion. We frequently go here. Sunday has a brunch.

After our scheduled meeting, it was quite nice to be able to appreciate such a delicious meal for agroup of 36. The Chicken piccata was excellent along with the atmosphere and the service.

The food and service was great. Steak was cooked exactly like I asked for. The atmosphere could be a little better though but that was a minor issue.
We were traveling through and stopped at the Brass Door. The only reason we gave a 4 out of 5 is we had access issues with our service dogs. We were initially denied access but after having explained ADA, we were seated. Once we were seated, we had a great time. Kyle was great, answered our menu questions, and took great care of us. We would recommend the Brass Door and would go again.
Great food, friendly staff. Upscale place, so it's rather pricey. For my group of 10, the food and service was 5-star, while time to prepare meal and my perceived value was more like 3-star...parking lot was a crowded challenge, forcing me to park out on the street, but there was a large party that night, so probably not a typical issue.
The setup here is old school, tons of parking available. Ordered the calamari. Came with tartar and cocktail sauce. Got a MR Ribeye that came with Mashed potatoes(garlic+parm mixed) Boiled peas and boiled garlic. Steak was in need of salt and pepper. Was juicy but lacked flavor. Once i added condiments it was good. Waiter didnt seem happy i came alone or at least it seemed like it. Overall pretty nice place to come once in a while.

It’s an old family restaurant. It’s been there 75 years. So it’s old school atmosphere. The service was excellent. The only thing wrong was the steamed vegetables were not hot. Other than that the food was very good.

We’ve been coming to this restaurant for nearly 40 years, so hearing that they are closing was genuinely sad. Like many others, we came in one last time hoping to enjoy our longtime favorites and say goodbye. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing across the board. All five of us ordered our usual meals, and every dish showed a noticeable drop in quality. The burger was burnt and overly charred. The filet arrived rare instead of medium-rare, and when sent back, it returned burnt and completely inedible. The salad was mostly cheap white lettuce, with just a few croutons and a single cherry tomato — a far cry from what we’ve known here. The fries had no seasoning at all. When we arrived, we were told there was a long list of items already unavailable, which was surprising given how busy the restaurant was. What was most concerning, however, was a fruit fly issue. I personally killed six fruit flies, and the person across from me had several as well. When we politely mentioned this to our server and showed her the bugs, the response was dismissive and came with noticeable attitude. The manager echoed the same — acknowledging the problem but offering no explanation or reassurance that it was being addressed. To cap off the evening, we were told that even the ice cream for the senior meals was unavailable. We understand the restaurant is closing and that this has likely been an emotional and challenging time for the staff and owners. That said, it was clear that standards have been let go, which was heartbreaking for a place with such a long and meaningful history to our family and community. We truly wanted this visit to be a positive farewell. Sadly, it felt like the owners have already checked out. I’m sharing this not out of anger, but to honestly inform others who may be planning a final visit so they know what to expect.

Please get rid of the smell coming out of the bathroom that is permeating the restaurant. The employees are amazing and the drinks are good, but it makes it very unpleasant to smell the order, to the point I don’t want to come anymore. Suggestion, please rip the carpet out and sanitize the restaurant
$38.00 for a half inch thick ribeye steak? I don't think so. Very disappointed. And you simply cannot prepare a steak medium rare when it's that thin. The burger ordered was better but still disappointed. Zucchini appetizer good. Most upsetting was sharing the information with the waitress and all of a sudden l was a horrible person. Stay with the actual good steak places.

I went to this restaurant on Thanksgiving and there were so many gnats flying around our table that it killed my family's dining experience. We killed like 7 of them, but they kept coming. I mentioned this to our waitress and she replied,"I know, I'm so sorry." This is unacceptable that we had to ask for to go containers to eat at home. They should have hired a professional exterminator for a problem this bad.
Had a reservation (special memorial dinner celebration), was not in the system, hostess was nasty. Gentleman “found” a spot for us in the bar. Not exactly the table cloth setup we were expecting. Prime rib was way over cooked, not good. Filet Mignon ordered medium, came nearly raw … sent back, came back in 3 mins, raw again. Ordered a baked potato, received mashed. Gnats all over the place! Table and floor were dirty. Old atmosphere that supposed to have character but rather is just disgusting. Service was decent. Will not come back. Ever!
Upon entering the restaurant it smelled very musty and old.. Dinner at 5:30, 3 guests ordered prime rib with baked potatoe and creamed spinach. Bake potato was from day before, old, and still cold inside, wouldn't melt butter, prime rib very chewy, cooked as ordered,(medium rare) but chewy, and no favor. Cream spinach tasted terrible and was luke warm. Don't recommend and won't return.
