There's moments in history where a place totally mesmerizes a humble fat kid into deeper silence. Los Cucos is the destiny of all. This place absolutely rocked it !!! As far as Mexican cuisine goes, I think this is the best. Ever! We started off with the sinful yet tantalizing cheese with beef melt appetiser... comes out extremely hot and ready... only thing I can say is OMG!!..melty bliss with excellent tastiness. Then we moved on to our choice of combo platter which was arayed with glorious displays of meaty delight, more than enough to satisfy even the most depraved carnivore! The taste was unbeatable ! Add endless home made, delicious corn and flour tortillas and you have Heaven on Earth. Don't forget the Margarita Flight! Delicious!! The wait staff was brilliantly attentive, super polite and very skilled with knowledge and helpfulness. They are a credit to this restaurant! I would highly recommend this place. Fat Kid approved!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently moved to Utah and had a hard time finding a really good Mexican restaurant—until I found this place. Everything was great from start to finish. Jose made an amazing pineapple mango cocktail that was perfectly balanced and refreshing. I ordered the entomatadas (a milder version of enchiladas) with chicken, and they were delicious—full of flavor without being overpowering. You can tell care goes into the food and drinks here. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Went here for lunch on a Saturday and they weren’t too busy so we were seated right away. The service was good and the food was amazing! Very good presentation and tasted just as good! We ordered drinks and you could actually taste the liquor, it wasn’t watered down or drowned with juice. Very good experience!
My GF set up a very high expectations for this place and as a Mexican, it didn’t disappoint me. Ordered the “El Sabroso”. Loved the meet and the carnitas, salsa verde, was also perfect. The tortillas were also my favourite. The cheese enchilada that comes with it, not my favourite since I felt it has too much cheese. Looking forward to come back and being my family here.
Came on a Friday night and got in with no wait (2 people)! Food came out quick! Delicious chips & salsa, birria tacos, and birthday dessert!!
Thank you for the delicious food! The food service was terrific! The food had a lot of flavor and was cooked perfect! I will definitely be back! And to the cute manager with the tight green shirt on, Baby got back
Great spot. We came for lunch on a Sunday and it wasn’t busy at all. No wait time with lots of staff. It was almost too fast of service. The food came out hot and fast and the portion sizes were huge. Really delicious food and good chips and salsa while you wait. They did bring out the wrong dish but quickly corrected it and let us keep the wrong one free of charge.
Very nice very good must try SLB as Kennith would say. As well I must add the TV experience was mediocre at best. But everything was splendid as well as the service and the robot.👍 will be retiring in the future. The water was very intently great. I recommend getting the CHEESY enchiladas they were extra cheese👍👍👍 I gobbled it up very quickly please give it a try. Thank you Mexican restaurant I will tell many about my experience and journey within the restaurant thank you again.
Very family friendly spot with good food, delicious cocktails, and great service (highly recommend the appetizers)
Absolutely some of the best authentic mexican food around. Every Tuesday from 6p.m. to 8p.m. they have a live mariachi band.
10/10, great food, giant portions, great service. Felt very authentic.
This is my second top Mexican restaurant of all time! The chips with salsa and guac are something I crave!! And they have the best chimichanga I have had anywhere!! Every time I come I try to order something new to expand enjoyment and I have never had anything disappointing. This time I chose a trio with bacon wrapped shrimp, a taco, and I can’t remember what the other item was called but it had aged cheese on it that was delicious! Everything is super fresh and the servings are enough to have another full meal with your leftovers. Especially after a few baskets of homemade tortilla chips with their guac and salsa!
Holy smokes! I have had some great Mexican food in my life, just peek at some of my other reviews! Los Cucos is AMAZING!!! Some of the best Mexican food of my life, and the TRES LECHES WAS THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. Highly recommend the Pollo Del Mar, when you have chicken stuffed with shrimp and both are cooked PERFECTLY, you know there is a master chef in the kitchen. Spectacular meal and a great place for a family meal.
This place is a hidden gem. It’s not much to look at interior design wise, but the service and vibe is amazing, the food is all incredibly delicious, the horchata is fantastic. The desserts are top notch. They serve the salsa warmed up and that’s amazing. Everything is just great about this place. Tuesdays are mariachi nights and that’s always a blast. I love Los Cucos.
NATALIE is YOUR gir. Best waitress. Make up on point. She suggested the best plates when we couldn't decide. Thank you so much. From the service to food to the drinks. Delicious, wonderful and awesome. Thank you!
This was probably one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. I got the "Del Rio" enchilada which was delightful. The service was outstanding, could not have been any better, and we felt totally taken care of the entire evening. I honestly can't recommend Los Cucos enough, I can't wait to come again!
I'm from Texas, and now live in Colorado. Anytime I can find a place that reminds me of home, I'm going! I had just arrived at the Sandy Los Cucos after a long days ride from Yellowstone National Park. As always the food is awesome! The atmosphere is great as well as the employees! Totally worth it! Every time my family passes through Sandy, on the way home to Colorado, we stop at Los Cucos. The green salsa rocks!
Excellent food. It is my favorite Mexican restaurant to eat at. Gets pretty loud on a busy evening. Try the stuffed avocados, they are so good.
Everything was fresh and flavorful! The portions are generous and the service was prompt and friendly. They keep the chips and salsa coming while you wait for your food. There was a warm red salsa with a bit of kick to it and a mild cilantro salsa. Both were delicious! I loved the verde enchilada and beef taco. My husband enjoyed the fish fillet. It's hard to find good seafood in Utah, so I think that really speaks to the quality of the food and the skills of the cooks. We would love to dine here again!
This place did not disappoint.. we had incredible service from Catherine the Great! The food was insane, and I cannot wait to go back. There is nothing more enticing than seeing food other people have ordered. I watched as plate after plate went by my face, and I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other dishes they offer for that very reason. My husband is insanely picky and even he enjoyed the steak burrito he ordered. That’s saying something. I ordered the Birria tacos and boy was it good… if I could, I’d give this place a 10/10… not just for the food, but the service and the atmosphere. There are tvs on almost every wall, and it’s just an uplifting atmosphere. There is something for everyone
We sat at the bar and had a great time. The drinks were amazing — we tried the piña mango and the pineapple mojito, and both were super refreshing and full of flavor. The guy with curly hair who helped us at the bar was honestly the best. He was friendly, always attentive, and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. The vibes were great and we’ll definitely be coming back
Excellent place for authentic Mexican food. The dishes are full of flavor, made with fresh ingredients, and well seasoned. Portions are generous and prices are fair for the quality. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service was fast and friendly, always making sure everything was good. Definitely a place worth coming back to and recommending. 🌮🔥
Everything was amazing! Jewel, made the best table side guacamole! Krista, was the BEST waitress we’ve had. We drove from Layton to try this place out and so glad we did. We’ll definitely be back!!!
Great place to come, staff is always friendly and helpful, food is consistently good every time we come. The mariachi on Tuesdays is fun to listen to. I would definitely recommend eating here. They have healthy options, and it feels like a more authentic Mexican food experience than a lot of other places.
We (party of 4) went for dinner based on someone's recommendation on a Saturday evening after a play at Hale Center Theater. We had to wait for about 10 minutes which was quick considering how busy it was. We ordered a variety of dishes and they were all excellent. Do yourself a favor and get something with the beef. So tender and so well seasoned! I got a fajita mixed meat and I should've gotten all beef bc it was that good!!! The service was good, though we had to wait a bit to get our check, but overall it was attentive. Plus they have server robots!
Stopped in for lunch after a recommendation from friends. After getting out of the car I could smell the delicious food cooking. First look the restaurant appears to be under construction or remodeling. Nothing fancy about the dining area. The service was fast. Drinks came out fast and the chips and salsas were delicious. We ordered the Beef fajita tacos and the seafood dish Del Rio. Our waiter returned quickly with hot fresh food. The flavors were delicious. I was excited to see the variety of options on the menu. Definitely would come back to try other menu options! Thanks for the delicious lunch Los Cucos! See you next time!
This is quite a lively place on a Tuesday with a live Mariachi band playing. They roam the restaurant and will end up at your table for a personal song. Food is good. I really enjoyed it. Annoying thing in Utah is they need to see your ID for ordering drinks like beer, even though it is quite obvious that I am not under age. Also, some of the staff do not speak English. Still a good place to go to.
Los Cucos Mexican Cafe is the ideal restaurant when you think of a Mexican sit-down. With the Spanish-Colonial design and a voluminous menu full of classic dishes, it's a picturesque dining experience. I ordered the Smothered Chimichanga. It was fantastic! Well-fried, a healthy portion size, and the cheese perfectly melted with the beans and chili verde for a delicious meal. I would recommend, but would also order something different next time. The complimentary chips and salsas are excellent. As almost every review says, the service is lightning fast. They're able to get you seated with your food in under fifteen minutes. We didn't feel rushed, but once you pay, that's the end of seeing your server, so if you need a refill, be proactive. The robot didn't come to our table, but it's fun to watch it deliver food. The atmosphere is my favorite of any Mexican restaurant I've been to in Utah, with Angelica's in St. George as a close second. It's got a great interior and exterior, and great spacing for the seating. Plus, tough to beat marketability on this location. I enjoyed my experience and will absolutely be back, especially because I left without trying the Tres Leches.
Party of 4 on a Saturday night. We were able to get a table right away. They do free chips & salsa, up to 2 batches. Any more and they will charge you for it. We got chicken fajitas for 1 to share and they were pretty good. Our friends got the steak poblano fajitas and really liked that.
Honestly best service, wait time, prices, environment, and best Mexican food I ever tasted! I like to eat healthy and they also had options for healthier food. 5 stars all around. It was a bit busy but we didn't even feel it because of the efficiency of the restaurant staff. I also loved the Mexican skirts the ladies were wearing they look very authentic!
First time. We had fajitas and they were good. I do wish their beef was better. Maybe they marinated it a little too long and it had a strange after taste. The chicken was excellent. Very big portions so it could serve 2 people easily. Our server was super friendly. Overall I recommend it but I have a few complaints and that's why they are getting 3 stars. Restroom stall I was in was too narrow and the cracks are way too open. If someone was drying their hands and wanted to pick in, they could have. The booth table are too tall. They came up close to my chest and was uncomfortable. We are Mexicans, we want good hot sauces with our food. They had none. The two they served with their chips were mild. One was terrible and warm. When I asked if they had a hot one they said they only had a habanero one for $3 more dollars. It wasn't even that hot amd it didn't taste like habanero. It was more like a jalapeño lime. Please think about this. Get a good hot sauce and a carne asada plate and I'm sure you'll be even better. I still recommend it.
Fajitas! Took my wife here for lunch after dropping the kiddos at the airport. Fajitas were fantastic. They actually looked like their photos. No little chopped up beef strips, Big strips of steak. So good.
Our services wasn't the best. My husband ordered a beer and shot when we were seated I was busy looking at the menu and the waiter didn't even ask me if I wanted a drink. When he returned with my husband's drinks he put them down and immediately walked off without again asking if I would like a drink. I food was good the meat in my beef chimachanga was really good. My husband ordered fajitas and they weren't very hot coming out despite being on a cast iorn plate. Also he was given 2 corn tortillas and that seemed like not much We didn't hate the food items was a nice change however its over priced for what you get almost $30 for fajitas is over priced.
When we walked in we were immediately welcomed and seated. The food was really good! I loved the chip, salsa and guacamole. The patio outside was nice and lit and very comfortable. Only concern was our service. I think our waitress was Sandra but she didn’t give us refills until we asked and we waited a while before she came back to check on us. Another lady brought us our food & we had to ask another waitress for refills. We had to go to the bar and ask for to go box because she was nowhere to be found. Other than that everything was great!
Dec 2025, food was great, had a table available when we walked in, but felt very rushed. Not sure if I'd be back because of that
The food is usually always good care we really enjoy their homemade chips and the green and red salsa is amazing. We always order refried beans to dip chips in. This time however we ordered chicken enchiladas to split with my little girl as an after school snak. Portions were very small, and I bit into a large chicken bone! Hurt my tooth bad! I'm not used to cooking with bones and moving around them like some cultures are. The waitress was awesome. Extremely accommodating. The manager worked it out with me and made it right. I am looking forward to coming back. Very impressed. Kind of loud and fun playful Mexican music. Cool people for sure
Good food, but they literally had their phones turned off so that no one could get ahold of the restaurant for any reason. I tried calling 10 times paced over an hour to place a to-go order because I live 30 minutes away and doordash doesn't have the menu item I wanted...and I didn't want to sit waiting for my food to be made, I wanted it ready upon arival so I could take it home and not waste my time. Well I just decided to go anyway and when I got there and asked why no one was answering for to-go orders they checked the phone and said they had it turned off, when they turned it back on it was ringing multiple times and they ignored who was calling while I was there and I'm fairly certain they turned it back off while I was waiting for my order. A good restaurant doesn't just have good food but they have good customer service, turning your phones off and ignoring people calling with to-go orders is absurd for a restaurant that wants to make money and provide good service. I made the 30 minute drive because the food was worth it but seeing them not even attempt to pick up the phone just confirmed that I won't be ordering from here again which is sad that I have to try and find something comparable food wise just because of the service. I'm not gonna make a 30 minute drive AND wait 20+ minutes after I get there for my to-go order to be made again.
The food here is pretty good. I really enjoyed the Enchilada and Tamale. The chips and salsa were good as well. The only issue we had, after they cleared our plates we sat there for around 10 minutes waiting for our checks. We finally had to ask another waiter because we hadn't seen our waitress since clearing the table. She came back a few minutes later and gave us our checks.
There are A LOT of TV’s, big dining room and a very large menu. We were there at 2:30, in time for the lunch menu. We ordered Queso and chips, the small was $10.99, super overpriced for the amount served, but the chips were very different and delicious. We then ordered a lunch special, healthy portions, the deep fried avocado ‘ball’ was tasty but our orders were mixed up. The server just kept pushing for us to remember to order dessert so she could make her month quota, I’ve never had a server so pushy about dessert. When we were finished and put our leftovers into a box……there was a cute little hair underneath the food on the plate. The only thing the server said was, nothing. She just laughed and said oh well. I don’t think we’ll return, not because of the hair, the pushy dessert server or the mix up on our order, BUT, the prices are outrageous for dinner or lunch if you don’t order from the lunch menu.
Food is fantastic. Atmosphere is terrible. Someone had the bright idea of putting bright daylight (5000K) bulbs in all the light fixtures, and now it feels more like a warehouse or a laboratory than a nice dining experience. The lights are the exact opposite of relaxing.
Our table was crowded with empty appetizer plates, empty glasses etc. Our waitress didn’t remove one item or dirty dish from our table the entire time we were there. Then to add a 20% gratuity for our party of 4 adults and two kids is ridiculous. If you are going to add that big of a gratuity on such a small party you should have it noted on the menu. We love the food but to pay that kind of gratuity for crappy service is ridiculous. We won’t be back.
Honestly this place was highly recommended and we were excited. We were told expect amazing food and huge portions. However reality is our waitress was to busy or had to much and the portions were I’d say on the smaller size( could be what we ordered) but the food I’d say was average at best. Not worth the hour drive.
I had take out at this place. Honestly, the food was mid at best. I will never go back as it felt like a waste of money. Everything was dried out and I was there way before my food was ready. Would definitely not suggest. There are much better mexican restaurants around with higher quality food. The atmosphere seemed great though.
Don’t go for the nachos!! After work wanted nachos for dinner, ordered 2 LARGE nachos one for my son too. Got home, opened one up and was furious because the “large” nachos had 11 chips with some meat and cheese melted on it for a low price of $15.00🤔. Took all food back(also ordered chicken stuffed jalapeños). They said it was correct as large nachos. They refunded everything and said take and try it, I did. The stuffed jalapeños was amazing but nachos was not worth even $5.00. Adding photos as proof, not fibbing.
Unfortunately after always loving this place it was the last place I should’ve taken a friend for dinner to catch up. Server was short and barley paid attention besides finally coming up to take our order after seeming annoyed ( we was sat for about 10/15 minutes with just waters no chips which is fine and her being annoyed we was chatting before looking at the menu) took our order. They had a sign saying sign up on text for a free app. We do it she never brings it nor does she check on us after food being given (once we was looking waiting on water refill. Never asked if we wanted anything else to drink. Treated us horrible compared to her other tables. This is the sample we received after never getting it tell she comes up to us mid meal to drop off the check (never asked if we wanted anything else drinks dessert etc. ) brings it to us to go and you get one of everything half assed. Not how you should be treated on as slow Sunday night. Also I’m a server myself and usually don’t mind but unfortunately made me rethink of going here again .
A long wait time to get our food. Served by robot, like why? Chips and salsa bland and sour also served with a bland tasting avocado tomatillo salsa. Got smothered burrito tortilla was doughy also pretty pricey. I can find way more better portion and better food elsewhere.
To make matters worse the owner reach out promising a $50 gift card and has still not yet told me how I can obtain it I’m not one to write bad reviews but I feel like I needed to shared this experience. We sat down at our table ask 2 different people to put the football game on. None of them switched the channel okay not a big deal. We order our food and it no joke took 20-25 minutes for us to get our food. After talking to someone else about where our food is. Mind you the table next got in after 10 minutes after us, and got their food before we did. The food itself was alright like a 6/10. Then while we’re eating the waiter came by just one time to check on us. Then handed us the bill never asked how the food anything else we needed. Then we place our a card and it took us asking 3 different and 10 minutes later for our waiter to take a card so we can pay. I’m pretty big foodie and love Mexican food but will never come back here
Staff being friendly and the chips and dip is probably the only positive thing I have about eating here, got just a regular beef burrito (el grande on the menu for $20 dollars) and unfortunately it was void of any and all taste, the tortillas were incredibly bland and I had to check and make sure it wasn’t made of cardboard. I don’t normally leave reviews but the price to taste/food ratio was too aggravating not to. You should focus on the taste of all your menu items and get rid of the creepy waiter robot that says “traveling to x table” just to have someone have to follow it.
I went to Los Cucos today to eat some tacos, as those are pretty safe with my dietary restrictions. Their tacos are accompanied with tomatoes in both the rice and bean soup. I informed the lady server of my allergies, and she tried her best to accomodate, but she said Mexican restaurants use tomatoes and chile peppers in a lot of dishes. I know this, but I also have dined in many Mexican restaurants who make meals I can enjoy. When I asked the manager if I could have a discount on the foods I cannot eat, he flatout said no and they are not a restaurant who caters to people with allergies. I left without eating a meal and went somewhere else. The server was kind and did her best in her limited abilities, but the manager was condescending and rude. I do not recommend Los Cucos to anyone.
i’m not one to leave a review but i just wanted to bring to the fact that the service was great, my husband and i had the Delicioso for two, the fish had tasted weird but i thought it was just the mushrooms that were on it. When we left we left with a bad feeling in our stomachs but we thought we had overeaten. As the night progressed we realized we got some sort of food poisoning because our stomach pain was unbearable and we spent all night without sleep, in pain. I just wanted to leave this review so Los Cucos doesn’t have any sort of problem again with their future customers regarding their seafood they serve because this feeling that my husband and i had to bear was absolutely horrible and would not recommend to eat their seafood as a precaution.
