Impressive! The food is excellent and the Wait Staff were remarkable. The Staff is friendly, coordinated and efficient. They are attentive to customer needs but not disruptive to table conversations. We go out for Italian food quite often and the food here is Excellent. Very good menu selections.
This Italian restaurant is Santa Clara. Best of everything. They haven't changed anything in years. That's why I keep coming back. Great family memories here and looking forward to making many more.
Another wonderful dinner with Jess and her crew. Went in tonight for my wife’s birthday. Amazing food. Amazing service. Thank You Jess for another great evening. We will be back😊
This is *EXACTLY* what a dining experience should look like. From the moment we stepped in the door, we were welcomed with warmth and smiles, as if we were stepping into the home of a dear friend or even family. We were seated promptly, attended to quickly and graciously by the warm, friendly, and jovial staff members. Not only did the food come quickly, but the portion sizes were on point, and had the taste of authentic Italian fare. All in all, a wonderful experience ~ would not hesitate to visit again and recommend to anybody who would like to experience true Italian hospitality. BRAVISSIMO!
**Restaurant Review: Mio Vicino** Rating: ★★★★★ On September 11, 2024, while on a business trip to Santa Clara, I took a customer’s recommendation to try Mio Vicino. Tucked away in a strip mall, this little gem was rather unassuming but packed with delightful surprises. I decided to start with the Gorgonzola Gnocchi and a Caesar Salad. The gnocchi was fabulous! Served piping hot, it was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of al dente bite. The creamy sauce was rich yet not overwhelming, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully. The addition of walnuts added a special kick, enhancing the dish's overall profile. The portion size was perfect—not too large, leaving me satisfied but not overly full. The Caesar salad was decent, with the dressing evenly tossed throughout, though it didn’t stand out as much as the gnocchi. Notably, I found it curious that the waitress did not offer any bread, which is often a staple at Italian restaurants. For dessert, I couldn't resist the cannoli paired with coffee. It was enjoyable, landing around a solid 4 out of 5, but the stellar gnocchi clinched this review for Mio Vicino. Despite a marginal service experience with my waitress, the attentiveness of the other staff in refilling my tea was commendable. Overall, Mio Vicino exceeded my expectations, and I left feeling delighted. Despite minor service hiccups, their culinary prowess, especially with the gnocchi, earned them a well-deserved 5 stars!
The server is very attentive. Upon entering the restaurant, the bread and garlic are prepared. To begin with, I ordered fried eggplant. It was very tasty. The eggplant was not too soft but also not too hard. The portion was also very generous. As for the main dish, I ordered the clam linguine. I was surprised by how it was cooked. In addition to the white wine sauce, they also used leaks, which gave another level of freshness to the dish. The white wine sauce also greatly enhanced the umami of the clams. For dessert I asked for the recommendation and went for the creme brulee. The skin was extremely crispy but the inside was very fluffy. It's very enjoyable to have both sensations in one bite. I'm very satisfied. Next time I should try out their daily specials.
Crispy Polenta is so amazed, the mushrooms sauce so fresh and flavorful, , my friends and I love it so much! Shrimp Pie (the pizza one) is also beyond the expectations. Cappellini and Linguine are worth to try, they won’t disappointed you. However, the Fried Calamari is on average. We love Mio Vicino!!
Mio Vicino is the best Italian restaurant I've been to in the south bay. I've been driving to SF, but this is my new favorite. My server was fantastic. He was so attentive. The food was incredible. The batter on the calamari was indescribably light and crispy. The dressing on the Caesar salad had just the right bite of anchovies. My friend and I shared the three kinds of ravioli -the meat sauce was so good - and the pasta primavera - the vegetables were cooked perfectly and the sauce was creamy and garlicky. Best of all though was the fresh, warm ciabatta bread served with whole roasted garlic cloves and balsamic vinegar and oil. I'm already plotting another visit here. So delicious!
I had the Pasta Primavera. It’s one of my favorites. I try this dish at various restaurants to see how they interpret the recipe, since every chef is different and gives it his or her own unique flavor. The Pasta Primavera was a delicious dish with a flavor of Italy. It carried a taste that smooths across my palette like work of art that the artist intended for me. It was not too spicy but a slight hint. It didn’t make back away but it let me continue to see what else this dish would offer. I’d definitely order it again. What else I liked was the waiter, older gentleman, who made us feel like royalty. The waiter was very polite and very professional. When he addressed us he approached with genuine respect and gentleness and when he left he never turned his back to us, always back stepping until his eyes left ours. Royalties it made us feel like and to be.
The AC was freezing when we first sat down 🥶, even though it was around 60°F outside. Thankfully, our server was kind enough to turn it off, which we really appreciated. We ordered the shellfish pasta and the meat lover pizza. - The pasta was flavorful and well-seasoned, though the noodles themselves weren’t great, I’m quite picky about pasta texture. - The pizza, however, was below average compared to other Italian restaurants I’ve tried. The crust was thick, and the dough, cheese, and toppings (sausage, mushroom, etc.) felt like separate components rather than a cohesive dish. Overall, I’d recommend coming here for the pasta, but I’d skip the pizza next time.
I brought a large group of friends here, and the thing that I walked away with was that the staff was very accommodating and attentive. I had 15 friends join me for dinner, and I was unfamiliar with the restaurant, not knowing how quaint it is inside. They accommodated us, but we were really stuffed into the space. It was a little uncomfortable. I would love to dine in here again, with a smaller group of friends. Thank you for the wonderful service.
This is the place to be if you're looking for homey Italian food. Good variety of Italian dishes on the menu, and reasonable wine from different regions. I wish they offered more wine from Italy. 🇮🇹 Clam chowder has good amount of clam meat, but was on the salty side I asked to have very light breading on the fried artichoke heart, and they delivered! Linguini with clams comes with scallions and tomatoes, which is an interesting twist to the white wine sauce I'm used to I love the tiramisu - it's rich but not sweet Overall, we enjoyed our time there, and will go back again
a local known for its homemade pasta and pizza I tried the Chicken Cannelloni, and it was a standout. The fresh pasta was filled with chicken, mushrooms, spinach, quattro formaggi, and oregano, then baked in a rich provolone and marsala cream sauce, topped with toasted pine nuts. The sauce is so rich and velvety I also tried the Shrimp Pie. It came with prawns, rock shrimp, pesto, pine nuts, and plenty of melty cheese. The shrimp was fresh and well-seasoned, and the combination worked beautifully. Their tiramisu is a must try and it did not disappoint. Classic Italian style — bold coffee flavor, not too sweet, and perfectly creamy.
Tried for the first time with my colleagues for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Classic dishes you would expect from any Italian restaurant, but not find them available as easily. Good value for money and family owned restaurant vibe. Will try lasagna next time. My colleagues commented how their seafood pasta’s shrimps have a stronger fishy taste than expected; however, my prawns in my pasta were fine.
Went to this restaurant based on the rave reviews on google. The restaurant was packed when we arrived early evening without reservation. We were initially shown to a table right in front of an entrance/exit door as that was the only table available, but managed to re-sit when another table freed up. The order of bread came with a side of cooked garlic. The meal was a good size serving and everything tasted homemade/rustic. My linguine with clams unfortunately did seem to have some sediment deposits that I was biting into quite a few times.
The server really described the food well , focusing on the texture and taste. They served roasted garlic bulbs with bread, and that was a great side! We had baked penne with Italian sausage, and chicken cannelloni. I would definitely recommend the chicken cannelloni because of its taste and texture! It was deliciously stuffed with a soft and mild filling. The baked penne was bland. The tiramisu was perfect, it was creamy but light. The crunchy topping of the crème brûlée was perfect too! The atmosphere was friendly, with wooden chairs, and photos on the wall.
3 stars solely because of service. Food good, almost very good Atmospheric is what it is here, its basic, clean & organized Service was horrible tonight on a not so busy night. We were literally "rushed out". Recieved our check with seconds of declining desert amd with still over 25 % of our pasta main meal still on our plate. Abysmal.
If you can't cook and wonder what very mediocre Italian food made at home tastes like, this is the place for you. I ordered a chicken parm and was informed they were out of breaded chicken. I asked for an unbreaded chicken breast instead. When the meal came I was thoroughly underwhelmed. My chicken breast was alright, but it was sat atop a small, messy pile of spaghetti in a generic red sauce, and a small assortment of unseasoned squash and zucchini chunks. My girlfriend's ravioli was thick and our Caesar salad was riddled with bites bitter of lettuce.
Tried it because I was near by and google search listed this. Service was good enough. Decor was in keep of a neighborhood Italian restaurant. Food was just OK for me. We ordered two pasta dish and some bread. Looking at the other review, It seems like we are in the minority.
We ordered fired calamari and artichoke as starters, they were both good We also ordered margarita pizza and chicken Parmesan, the margarita pizza had fresh tomato cubes on it and the crust was very thick as for pastry dough, which was really weird, and it wasn’t good, the chicken Parmesan was very dry and had no flavor, even after all the parmesan cheese we added to it.
Been here three times. Best thing I've eaten here is the cheesecake. It's a 6 out a 10. Had parmesan chicken. Chicken tasted old, was dry AND I had to remove cartilage three times. The pasta needed a lot more sauce. Sauce was a bit bland. The bread they serve is tough, chewy and flavorless. They serve it with garlic flavored chilled snot. I'd rather eat anywhere else.
