We were visiting for Ironman 70.3. The yelp reviews were questionable, but we were hungry. I waited 5 mins to get seated for lunch, got water, and ordered almost immediately. They were busy but not bad. I got food in a reasonable amount of time. The food was excellent, good old home style cooking. Service was also good—lovely young ladies and always there when needed. I would highly recommend this place. Probably not best for any picky eaters as menu is small but all items look good.

Enjoyed a late breakfast here after a morning of cycling around, so you know we were definitely hungry! Had their pancake combo, three egg combo, and a burger. Their potatoes were particularly tasty, crispy and well seasoned. I could order a whole plate of that for sure. Service was quick and friendly, food came out quickly and we were very satisfied with our meal.

I've always had a great experience coming into this Cafe. The food is delicious and is always fresh. Despite being understaffed, I always get a delicious warm meal and fantastic service. The bad reviews I've seen on here are just the usual rude people who think it's okay to just seat themselves or treat service/essential workers like some sort of commodity that has to be at every one of their beck and call. I love the food here and the prices are expected for a cafe in a touristy area with good real food that isn't fried like the stuff on the boardwalk. All in all, this place is incredible, the waitress and chef who keep this place afloat on their blood sweat and tears are super heros and I'll always come back with my friends

From the start I knew this was going to be good. A waiting list on the door to put your groups details on. Then sit down and chill until they're ready. Service was great and friendly. Food came super quick all reasonably priced. Eggs Benedict came with champagne included. $1 more for a large glass - bargain. Good coffee too. Highly recommended.

This is a nice place to grab breakfast if you like to get up early to eat and then take a walk on the beach. This is a small place so early is essential to avoid a possible long wait time. I personally enjoy the Eggs Benedict. Drinks are available if you chose and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Service is fast and staff are always friendly.

This is as down to earth as a beach street cafe can get. Huge portions! Extremely friendly staff, quaint environment, and yes, sign yourself in at the door! I’ll be back next time I’m in Santa Cruz!

We read reviews and found it interesting that it appeared that people were trying to make it seem like this place was horrible and I found a fantastic review with a lady to actually posted pictures of her food, so my niece and I decided to prove these poor reviews wrong and went for breakfast this morning with my husband & daughter too. The restaurant was clean, a little small, but nice, and the staff was great and the food was delicious! Service was outstanding, we even mentioned the poor reviews we saw online and they weren't surprised at all, I told them we were going to give them 5 stars, and that I was going to take pictures and post all of this ave they were extremely grateful! It really hates me sad that people want to post bad reviews on mom and pop places like these, it was a great little place a I highly recommend going to eat here, we will definitely be going back again. Chief did an amazing job, host and service was outstanding! They were even very kind to our kids! Big deal to me!

Hole in the wall place! 100% coming back!! 🥞🥓🍳 Scouting for places online and came across a place I’ve always wanted to try but saw some shady reviews and decided to investigate. After reading further into the reviews my crew decided that we’d give it a shot and the pictures people had posted looked really good and our eyes were right. The food was amazing!! The pancakes are a must try if you decide to go here. Something to shout out is the wait staffs excellent service. They were so sweet and quick and even made accommodations to the menu for dietary reasons. (smaller portion sizes) They were easy to talk to and maintained a constant flow of the restaurant. The place is super cute inside and even has bathrooms upstairs - it is kind of small so I would recommend keeping it to a smaller party size if you can but overall everything was great and I really encourage you to try this place!

Got the guacamole omelet and it was great! They make it there so it tasted really fresh! Service was ok. Just make sure you either have your parking pass or you bring quarters. The bowling alley next door had a quarter machine.

Excellent breakfast spot! I don't just mean the food, but the location. You'd think the prices would be tourist-Trapp considering where they are, but everything was totally reasonable without sacrificing quality. I had the chorizo scramble, which was a special, but very flavorful and filling. My wife had the Eggs Benedict which was egg-celent... seriously though it was. I almost wish I got it. She got a mimosa for $1 eggx-tra (OK, I'll stop). My 3 kids shared the pancake combo, which included 2 rather large pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs (you can choose your own favorites for the last 2 though). $9.99 are you out of your mind? The bathrooms are clean and actually the whole atmosphere has that rusticly quaint sleepy beach town vibe. Fun to peolple-watch through the wind to Beach street. Great pit stop!

A very plain interior but the food and service is outstanding! Normally open for 8am. Huge breakfast burrito I couldn’t finish it all. Bacon was done just right. Highly recommended!

Not sure how to rate the place. Didn't see Eggs Sardou on menu yet. Did see Lettuce, Bacon, Goo and Tranny safe space which doesn't say anything about the food. Moss Beach Distillery has gone off the rails in that space also. I'll have to go over the hill and hopefully see Willy or have an excellent breakfast featuring Eggs Benedict with a couple of twists; spinach and light onion flavor. I spent a lot of time at 305 Beach working and/or renting open apartment(s). Thoroughly bummed that it was sold in the wrong season for quite a bit below market value.

Great location and service with a smile. BUT : what they call hollandaise sauce is a bad mayo+ketchup mix. Breakfast potatoes had an industrial aftertaste. Fresh orange juice was great however! Disappointed by the food there

When we first walked in the smell of the restaurant threw me off badly! We just wanted something quick to eat so we sufficed the smell but truly the scent of the building when you entered was not okay at all. The service was decent, not so above and beyond but not treated poorly either. I got hot chocolate which tasted as if they truly only used water and a packet from store. We bought the pancake and french toast combo, the food was just simple nothing too special or anything. I’d say the place is decent but never would recommend it to anyone or go here again. They truly need to work on air fresheners. Main note as well the restroom is upstairs!

Way overpriced. We had two people in our party that we were waiting for. The wouldn't seat us until they showed up and told us to wait outside, even though there weren't very many customers in there. Very unfriendly. Our bill was close to $200, but the food quality did not match the high price tag.

K

Tourist trap. Burgers, salad and pancake for $310 plus additional $9 for using my debit card. Wow! Quality of meat and food was as good as going to the boardwalk and going to the stalls. Our party were baffled by the price. Crazy! I would've gone to a proper steakhouse to pay for this price. Also, if your kids can't eat whole plate and you decide to share to avoid wasting they charge you extra per plate!!

Can’t believe this place is still open for business. To start when we get there they were upset that a family of 8 came to eat during there delivery time. We ordered our food and another table came in of 3 people. They got their food and were just about done before we ever got ours. For 6 adults and 2 kids our bill total was 294.00 absolutely outrageous for what was ordered. And to top it off the food gave me food poisoning. Vomiting and diarrhea. Don’t go here.

To expensive for the lack of service and the being told that we cannot order take out on the weekends...there was nobody dining in the restaurant and the cook was sitting at the bar drinking coffee. I have never been to an establishment that turns down money when the place is empty. It will be hard for me to return to this place after that experience and to think, the first time I ate here, I thought I had found a new place to eat breakfast every time I visit Santa Cruz.

Partner and I popped into this place because the name of the place said "Cafe" so we thought we could have some coffee by the boardwalk. Ordered a hot and an iced coffee. When the waitress came back to take our order I said I only want some toast. She stared at me for a few seconds and said, "that's it?" Then she said I couldn't just order toast because they were a full-service restaurant she didn't know if her manager would allow that. The place was over half empty. Everyone else had their food. We weren't taking up a table for anyone waiting. If anything, we were making her job easier. We told her we didn't want anything anymore including the coffees which she got an attitude about. We said since they were refusing service there was no point in having coffee there either and she said, "Well if you're not ordering food then I don't know what to say."

Gosh, this place had a horrible vibe. The lady making the drinks looks really angry and non-approachable. The other people are always bothering you to refill your drink EVEN THOUGH my drink is over half way full. They charge for “service” even though it’s really bad. They basically force a huge tip to themselves. OUR food ended up costing 130$ and they charge 60$ for service and 30$ for a fee is general. We ended up paying 220$ for garbage food. Yall should go to IHOP or any other place but this because of how horrendous the price, food, and service was.

Very unprofessional. I came in to sit down and drink a cup of coffee. The server was nice, but the boss was upset that I just ordered coffee and nothing else. To make things worse, she started going off on the waiter and getting him in trouble for seating me! How was he supposed to know thay I just wanted to order coffee and why is that a problem? Poor guy. I didn't mean to get him in trouble, I just wanted a coffee.

Before my family and I even entered we were stopped at the door and asked to collapse down our stroller so that it's not in other customers way. We were literally the ONLY table in there. We started to have second thoughts about staying when we were charged $5 for a can of soda. We are a family of 5, 2 adults a teen, a small child, and a toddler. We had a total of 3 full meals, and 4 drinks. The entire time we sat there the 2 waitresses were having personal conversations about their relationships, about "having a shitty day yesterday " and using other profanity in front of my children, very unprofessional. As I was eating the waitress approached our table several times; once to ask if I needed a box, then to ask if I wanted her to clear my plates (mind you I was still eating) When I asked if I could get a refill on my daughters apple juice there were no refills on the $6 child size juice. My family and I started feeling uncomfortable and rushed (again we were the ONLY table in the place) We received our check with a $15 gratuity added "because we are a party of 5" so because my toddler sat in a chair that automatically means they are going to tack on an outrageous tip, then charge an additional 6% for using a card. I was extremely unhappy with my visit to this establishment, unprofessional, EXTREMELY OVER PRICED, and we just did not feel welcomed from the moment we got there. Definitely not returning. I dont see this place lasting longer then 6 months. Save your money and go somewhere else.
