Quaint place, great atmosphere. The food was on point! Great flavors. Friendly staff and the server or bar tender whom ever he was he nice eye candy so yes totally worth every penny! I loved it! 😍

I enjoyed Pub & Grub so much I went two days in a row! I had the carnitas tacos, which had yellow soft corn tortillas that were firm & held up well to bite. Meat was moist without dripping, decent spice to the Chipotle sauce. The onion rings and fries are also pretty good. Chicken strips are very crunchy & made my kid and I happy.

Great food, drinks and service! We went twice over the weekend and Allie was our waitress each time and she was amazing and also helped us out with some local recommendations. Chili cheese fries, pickle fries and chicken strips were some of our favorites!

Although I'm a tourist to shaver lake once a year, it's obvious this is a great locals watering hole. Friendly atmosphere with live music on the weekends (on the patio). We had a couple 805's while waiting for our pizza next door.

My family and me stayed at a cabin in town. We were looking for a place to have dinner. We settled on Pub N Grub. What a great idea! Ordered burgers and sweet potato fries! The food was awesome. Service was great!

Always good food and great service. I do miss the duck wings but the fried green beans can cure that absence. Outside dining is perfect for what Covid has forced us to cope with. Felt safe and got to enjoy a great lunch date!

Beautiful leisurely drive through the mountains and stopped in for lunch that was so good we'd eat it off a rolling truck tire! Satoko took such attentive care of us and was the funnest lady ever... Ask for her. We got the steak bites with horseradish and the short branch grubber burger with bacon, pastrami and blue cheese... OMG.... Serious yumminess!!! Thank you Satoko!!

This place is great! The menu is fresh and modern. The beer on tap has an amazing selection! Very friendly and accommodating staff...they even made a delicious special order for my carb-free friend. Andrea was a superb waitress...prompt, knowledgable, and cheerful.

The bar manager is great, she was on top of her game. She gave special attention to my daughter who has a very hard time deciding what she wants as well as on top of bringing my boyfriend his beers without having to be asked. We have been coming here the past few weekends from Fresno because of this great service.

Amazing service! The waitress was very friendly, and would check in with us to see how we were doing in a respectful way. Food was delicious, and the atmosphere of the restaurant gave off a warm vibe. Everyone at the table enjoyed their beers, especially the General Sherman IPA. Next time we go camping, we will definitely come back!

I would go here again and again and again the price is super reasonable. The food is excellent. I tell you what my friend and I split a steak sandwich and when they say steak sandwich they mean it like the whole steak was in the sandwich. Not sliced but in the sandwich and it was delicious. Service was beyond excellent. Server kept our glasses full, and our food came out pretty quickly especially since we had a large party (14). I called ahead and was told it may take a while to seat such a large group but when we arrived we were seated immediately. The food was excellent, I recommend the hot wings, perfectly crunchy and very delicious. We had a small baby, and extra measures were taken to make sure his experience was a good one, even bringing him out a different dish when he wasn’t really eating the one we ordered him. All in all I give this place the highest praise possible and we’ll definitely be back when we’re in the area again. Great job guys!

Went there for lunch. The food was good, customer service was good. I did notice that they use some sort of strong disinfectant to clean the tables. That's great I know the table is clean of germs, etc.

It was awesome. Our 1st time there. Greeted us as soon as we came threw the door. Sat down and a man waited on us. So very nice. He waited on us great. They were busy but kept up with everyone with kindness. He made our day. Great food.

Good food and great service. Pastrami sandwich was the bomb! Decent beer selection. Lots of locals and contractors. A true test of a local restaurants quality is when the locals and contractors/linemen frequent the establishment. Onion rings are awsome! Taste like funnel cake batter, in fact I asked if it was and she said it was not, but sure tasted like it! Andrea was a great bar tender! Enjoy that new Porsche and keep your positive attitude!

This place definitely fits the name...nothing fancy, and not trying to be. The food was good, and our server was awesome! They were open later than the other restaurants, so we ended up there and had a great time.

On a Saturday we stopped by with friends for lunch. The place was very busy, however the staff found a table. The service was good despite it being busy and food was vertical good. My wife loved the fish tacos and deep fried string beans. Onion rings were very good as well. We have had a cabin in shaver for 45+ years and this was our first time there but not our last.

Enjoyed a late lunch & had some great food. Devoured some tasty fish tacos, pub slaw & chicken club, fries. Draft beer selection included Tioga favs. Great service by Allie - we'll definitely be back!

Came here for a quick breakfast bite ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and added a hamburger patty. Added sweet potato fries. Definitely recommend the food and service here

I enjoyed an unexpectedly delicious Western Cheeseburger that is way better than a well known competitor s version. Turns out all the veggies taste GREAT in that combination. The garlic fries are just OK, Gordon Biersch set the standard. I don't go to lunch to rest fries. My fellow dinners both got dishes with the home made chili and they both declared it delicious! Seems to me the hassle around it always being crowded is because the food is quite good and very reasonably priced. Way to go!

We visited this pub on a Monday so it was nice and chill time . There staff was super friendly and nice. It’s a small place so I can imagine how busy it gets on the weekends or holidays. The food was good and well priced. Portions were great. My fav was the fries the seasoning was fantastic. I had a shaver burger which was super yummy we also got a the chilli fries and added chesse also yummy. My husband ordered the fish and chips it came with 3 good sized pieces of fish. Sorry no photos I was starving. But would 10/10 come back. Again this was durning the week I’m sure during holidays and weekends on season times it would be more busy.

Stopped in for lunch during a very busy memorial weekend and had some of the steak bites to get started and oh my goodness they were amazing! I had the western bacon cheeseburger with onion rings, my husband had the black n blue steak sandwich with fries, the kids had mac n cheese and the chicken tenders with fries. We also had the chocolate cake for dessert, I only wish we ordered two because the kids ate it so fast. Everything was so delicious, hot and fresh! Plus our server was super fast & friendly, we’ll definitely be back and can’t wait to try out the rest of the menu.

One of my favorite places in Shaver. Great food. Love the onion rings and chili. Always great service. We had lunch here after a day of fishing on Mother's Day. I wish we got the name of our server because she was hilarious and so accommodating to our crazy asks. My husband and mom ordered the ribeye special and I mooched off of their plates because the portions were good sized. The mushroom soup was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS BUTTERY MUSHROOM GOODNESS!!! Always a favorite go to spot in Shaver.

Loved the atmosphere of this place! It’s cozier than I expected and the bartender and waitresses were very personable. The food was delicious but the French dip au jus was pretty salty. We ordered one of the specialty Mules and requested Makers Mark but they were out of it. This place has high top tables and regular tables but no booths. There were couples and families there and I’d say it’s a great atmosphere for both even on a busy Friday night. There is also a jukebox (or whatever the fancy newer digital things are called) and music playing all the time. Overall great vibe and delicious food. Good people. We will visit again!

It was wonderful! There was lots of snow throughout Shaver, inside was warm and cozy, had a fire stove going, the football games were on, everyone was HAPPY & ENJOYING themselves, families, couples, friends etc. FANTASTIC FOOD! We had homemade clam-chowdee and a couple of their signature burgers. Great service! I encourage everyone to stop in for a nice cozy, comfortable, pleasant dining experience! Or if your looking for drinks- they have a full bar with some good looking specialty drinks!

Staff was friendly and table times reasonable. Prices were a touch high for what you got but given the other (limited) options in the area far from too much. Had a minor issue with the ticket but staff delt with it quickly without fuss. Fun drink selection with a local twist. Bar was well run and efficient.

They do the best with what they have, small dining area and not much staff. Food is good, but there is often too many people.

I visited Shaver Lake for the first time recently and this was the one restaurant we decided to have dinner at. The inside was small but super cozy. The bathrooms were also super clean, which was a huge plus. My only draw was that when one of our group member's orders was missing cheese, the server literally lifted the bun to check for herself... dirty hands on the customer's food is a big negative for me. But I'd love to try this place again. Everything else was great.

For the area it is pretty good. I enjoyed the in house made chips and salsa. Burger was a touch over done, but that is very common these days. Overall it was enjoyable, atmosphere was pretty good too. Worth a try if you are in Shaver Lake.

Hostess was not welcoming and appears to hate her job. Waitress was good though. I give the NY steak sandwich and onion rings five stars. Sweet potato fries are really good. The regular fries were crunchy but short on flavor. The shaver burger and fish and chips get three stars. Funnel fries get five stars. Overall I would come here again.

This place has the BEST burger in town. Everybody in my group was satisfied (and full) The waitresses are friendly. The only reason for 4 stars, not 5, is because this place moves at a slower pace. I will come back every time that I am hungry and in the area.

This place was recommended to our group. It turned out to be a great place. The food was good and the waitress was fantastic. She had a great personality. They brought the food out at the same time. That is tough when you have an 11 person group. The drive is were perfect. I would definitely recommend this place if you're ever in Shaver Lake. We will be back.

Looking for a fun, delicious place to stop and eat and drink. Pub N Grub is the place. We've been there several times and service was super with Ally and the newbie Mike. The blue burger is delicious, the grub burger with pastrami over the top. The onion rings were a hit! They also offer refreshing mixed cocktails to cool you off after a big day on the water. Thank you will definately come again. Wish you were open on Mondays.

Quickly seated our group of 6. Food was good. Kids chicken strips were the frozen variety. Diners with me really enjoyed their chili, and both the bowl and burger were very large portions. Hope to visit again!

Really nice employees, good food, price was kinda high. Was asked "what do u want for your side?" Found out later on bill, sides were extra price, he made it sound like it came with meal...felt tricked. The owner Will is nice guy.

Look, it's a pub so nothing fancy but my husband and I were honestly pleasantly surprised with the QUALITY of food at an establishment like this. If we're back in the area, I'd gladly eat here again! Plus it was a busy night and our server was kind and she hustled!

Great Grub, Snug Pub What do you call a sad hamburger? A blue burger. Thankfully, the Mono Hot Springs Burger I had at Shaver Lake Pub and Grub was anything but sad, even if our attempt to have a leisurely lunch felt a bit like a game of Tetris with our toddler and 5-month-old. Let's be clear, the burger itself was fantastic and exactly what I was hoping for. But the real highlight was the staff, who were incredibly helpful and attentive through it all. Making a family with two very young kids feel comfortable is no small feat, and they handled it perfectly. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect: a rustic, comfortable bar scene that's perfect for a tasty, no-frills meal. Despite the snug fit, the delicious food and standout service make this place a winner. I'd definitely recommend it, especially for families who don't mind a cozier dining experience and, of course, for anyone just hunting for a seriously good burger.

My wife had a burger, she said was tasteless. I had the flat bread with steak. Tasted ok but my steak had lots of hard cartilage throughout plate. Service was really good. Waitress was very attentive,food just wasn't the best.

The food is nothing special, the fries are the only thing I consumed that was above average. Extremely adequate for the end of a hiking trip or a long day out, but not anything to write home about. Service time was average. Beer selection, also good. Atmosphere was rather loud and puby but is exactly as advertised.

Wish I could have brought my dog in here, but I totally understand why not, this is a service dogs only place as they have had issues in the past from customers dogs. I make this comment in case anyone else is looking to see if they can bring their dog. The 3 stars is because of my wife's fish and chips was really bad, the fish tasted overcooked, but the breading was undercooked and could taste the flour. Was the fish straight from the freezer? Was it old oil? Not sure, but it wasn't good. They do however have good chicken strips, both my kid and wife like those and its a good sized portion as well. I had wanted the NY steak sandwich but they were out, I got the French Dip sandwich, and it was "OK", nothing to write home about, but it wasn't bad.

Decent food. Friendly service. If you like garlic, then get the garlic fries. Food lacked a little flavor. Service is very slow because there weren’t enough servers but there never is around here at restaurants. Prices are high but then again it’s California.

Food was good, the service was okay and I still haven't decided if the wait was worth it. It took over an hour1/2 to receive our meal. The servers were full of excuses. It was clear they needed help or management to accommodate the amount of people that were coming in. I rating them a three-star because of the service not the food. 😑 Ps I did received a free beer for the inconvenience.

It's a nice diner. The food and the beer are good. You can consider stop here while in Shaver if you want to have a quick bite and you have family. Prices are a little bit over the average but it must be kept in consideration that it's located in a touristic town.

For the reviews I was thinking we were gonna get some amazing food, but that was not the case. Our first night up at the lake and my birthday dinner we gave this place a try. We got a chili cheese fry appetizer which was flavorless and tasted more like canned tomatoes than chili beans. We all had something different (5 meals) I had the pastrami sandwich and it was ok I would have liked more pastrami because they used lettuce, tomato, and onion to cover the lack of meat and all of our meals had fries and they were rock hard ALL of them it was like eating those cheap shoe string fries way over cooked. The restaurant itself was nice very easy going atmosphere. Now when it came to the waitress ours looked like she just got out of bed and hated life!! I know it’s the whole lake days vibe and all that but at least brush your hair and act like you want to earn tips!

It's unfortunate when a poorly run kitchen can really degrade the experience of a good ski town bar/grill. I'd like to preface that the only reason this review is not a 2 or lower is the good service of the bartender Michael who managed the bar and half the tables. However, you can't ignore the poorly run kitchen. We had ordered 1 sandwich, 1 appetizer, and 1 Mac N Cheese for two for a light dinner after skiing prior to the dinner rush. Due to 1 take-out order likely just prior to out arrival, our order took about 1hr and 10-15mins to get to the table. While the pastrami sandwich tasted great as did the steak bites, the Mac n cheese was likely Kraft from a box with Parmesan cheese added and the garlic bread and onion rings were cold. For these reasons, I would be hesitant to return, especially with the price of going out these days.

Food: Not great, about what you'd expect at Shaver Lake with no other options. Service: Speaking of no other options, that's exactly how you're treated. You are treated like "watchu gonna do city boi, go somewhere else?". Other: They offer takeout when they feel up to it. Why a restaurant would turn away business that doesn't take up a table and restaurant overhead is beyond me. It helps to have someone with business savvy involved in your business. That's a free tip! I'm guessing the 5 star reviews are fake and were made by the owners and/or friends of the owners. This is certainly NOT a 5-star establishment and I feel pretty generous giving them two stars. The best place, and I say this tongue in cheek, is still the pizza place next door. Shaver is ready for a place with good food (even decent food would pass) and good customer service where you aren't treated like an intruder in their small town. They obviously don't understand that without the lake and tourism, they wouldn't be there.

Decent food for a mountain pub, very slow service. If you're hungry and want food right away, go somewhere else. Three of the nine beers on tap were out as well. The servers were really nice, but there were only two during lunch on Sunday. The owners need to hire more servers so they aren't spread so thin.

Upon walking in the door, the waitress never made eye contact with us and the bar keep was extremely rude. This was on a Thursday at 5:30… not crowded at all. The two of them made us feel unwelcome. The burgers were not good enough for us to go back.

The 2 people that were serving and making drinks were nice. My family and I waited for an hour for a table and another hour for our food. The food was not worth the wait! It's all frozen refried and reheated food! No pride comes out of that kitchen!

Absolutely horrible service from the red haired waitress at this place. Waited an hour and thirty minutes and still didn’t get our food. Even after being told the waitress didn't put in our orders 40 minutes after we sat down, said it was lost somehow, and that it was now put in, customers that had just sat down still got their food before we reached the hour and thirty minute mark. The waitress did not communicate with us after telling us, was rude, and brother-in-law literally had to grab his own drink from the bar that had been sitting there for 5 minutes. The owner wasn’t on site so they had me call him. I was nothing but nice to him and explained the situation and he did not do anything for us and they asked us to leave the restaurant when we were nothing but calm voicing why this was upsetting as a customer. As a previous manager and waitress I am disgusted that a restaurant runs this way.

Garbage service sat outside for 20 min the only thing the waitress said to us was im off in twenty min so I'm not taking your order! Didn't even get water in 20 min!

I ordered New York steak sandwich, ask them for well done. After hour they serve food, which was not welcome with sand particles in it. I didn’t eat it. Also the fries were cold. Staff is good but not chef. Please change chef thank you

Yesterday, I went to get some food. It was good food, but I can’t help but feel like I was forced to give a tip. I don’t have much money right now because of my job, and I’m just trying to make a living to provide for my family. I think everyone has the right to give a tip or not.

We came in with a group of 13 and immediately were recieved with rude remarks and the waitresses all were avoiding being the ones that were out on the patio area to serve us. The waitress then came and acted like splitting a check was the worst thing in the world and like we were making her life difficult by doing that. Continued to be rude when two more of our group came in and sat down and she brought our drinks back and got frustrated that we had moved around our seats to make room for the rest of our group. We explained to her that she was being unkind and that we were not in a rush and that she could take her time and not be anxious. She continued to apologize for being rude by saying "I'm sorry for being rude but...." which negates the apology. Another waitress was rude when one of our group brought their cup inside to get a new one because it dropped on the floor. He walked out and she came back outside with the water in a huff saying "you walked out so quickly you could take just take the cup?" I understand we were a big group but when you are a waitress that is your job and it is no excuse to treat people poorly. We were all trying to be as kind as we could given the circumstance. We come here every year after our camping trip and are usually welcomed and accommodations are made. But we are all in agreement that we will not be returning no matter how good the food is.

Love the atmosphere but I think the waitress we got was new. There was 2 tables with guests. And 2 servers that were on. It took 10min to get seated. Once seated it took 15min before we left. They never came and asked for drink order or brought water or took our order. And it appeared they were not busy

Waitress was very stressed and anxious which came out as being quite rude. She acted like she's never split a check before. Another waitress seemed frustrated at bringing a new water when the cup was very dirty from being dropped. The red haired waitress did seem very friendly-i think we would've had a different experience had she been our server. The food was very good but I don't think we will be coming back, the waitress saying "I'm sorry for being rude but..." Completely negates the apology, I think she was attempting to do damage control to receive a tip. Then the one person in our party who paid cash was shorted $3 in change.

Lady was nice, had a pizza from the store next door , ordered pita and hummus at this one too, kicked us out cause apparently “no outside food”. Won’t ever come back hummus and pita was garbage too.

I have owned a house in Shaver Lake for 26 years. I have eaten at the Pub-N-Grub often. I have never been treated so rudely as I was today ( July 10,2025). The server yelled at us because we walked into bar and seated ourselves. Very very disappointed in this. We left and dined elsewhere.

Made me sit with my child on the bench, while this dude was smoking all cause I got a pizza to feed the fam from next door l. Ordered the appetizer for absolutely no reason. Trash place would not recommend

I don’t come here very often anymore because the service is so hit or miss. Half the time I get great friendly service and half the time we are made to feel like we’re a pest. The day bar keep is rude and super unfriendly and looks like she hates her life (and us too for being in it). I was embarrassed to bring an out of town guest here. He (and I) were treated very rudely. He was trying to ask about some of the local beers and the bar keep acted like he was a moron. If you come here, stick to the evening time when Alyssa and Mike work and don’t waste your hard earned cash and tip money on the daytime staff.

We waited over an hour for our food even though we were told it would take about 30 minutes. People who arrived after us got their food before we did. Unfortunately, all four burgers came out burnt — mine was so overcooked that I couldn’t taste anything else and had to leave it half-eaten. The only positive was that the waiter checked on us, but overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

Honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. My friends and I aren’t the picky type but we were all so shocked at how bad it was especially given the good ratings. There were 9 of us and not a single person enjoyed their food. We first waited for almost an hour to get our food (which okay we had a bigger party not a huge deal) but during that time our waitress completely forgot about us, didn’t checked in at all we had to try to flag her down just to get more water. Then when our food finally came every single one of our french fries were cold. My boyfriend’s burger was raw and mushy with a cold onion ring in it, and my other friends who had gotten sandwiches said they were just downright bad. Overall just very disappointing.
