The ice cream is all made on premisis. They have a great selection. My kids love the Mastic Mash. On a nice summer evening you can expect a line but it usually moves pretty quickly. I know people that come here from Smithtown just to have ice cream here.

I’ve bought so many different things from here. The tartufos are amazing. The ice cream pies are to die for. The cakes outstanding. Yesterday I tried the Bartman ice cream. I tried it again today. I think I might try it tomorrow too.

The homemade ice creams are excellent, as well as the large variety of exotic flavors available. We usually take home some candy or nuts that they also have in stock.

There's something about the ice cream at this place that I can eat as much as I want of it and I don't gain weight like I do at Carvel or with store-bought ice cream. Whatever you're using as a base, please don't ever change it! Hands-down, one of the best ice cream joints around. It's pricey and a bit out of the way for us, but it's so worth it. We've gotten a few ice cream birthday cakes from there, and those were delicious too, with plenty of options. And they have spumoni! So few places have spumoni anymore.

Cute little ice cream shop on Montauk Highway. It was not busy when we went but I can imagine there would be a line outside during their peak hours. There are benches along the outside of their shop to enjoy your treats. They had a good selection of flavors (both ice cream and ices). Though the way you want your ice cream is limited (sundaes, shakes, floats, scoops), you still get your money's worth by getting homemade ice cream here! They also have ice cream cakes (made to order the way you like it or premade), along with a ton of options for toppings and add ons. There's a freezer with other frozen treats (brownie pizza, saucers, ice cream sandwiches). They do have a small section for cookies and little pastries, which is nice. The staff was very friendly and the prices for homemade ice cream were very reasonable! There was a guy who was ordering when we were there and he mentioned he drives half an hour to get their cakes!

This is a hidden Jem in Mastic. They have great flavors and it's home made. They also have a nice little stock of candy, nuts and chocolate :) . My wife and I usually go with my son and sister for a few scoops . Also I recommend the Oreo flying saucer's. My son loves the ice cream here he is so happy to come for a sprinkle cone it's his favorite

This place looks unassuming, but it's one of the best ice creams on the island, and it's cheaper than almost any other chain. They let me try whatever I wanted and their ice cream looks and tastes and IS amazing. They also have a ton of old candy that is hard to find nowadays, which is really nice. They have milkshakes and other stuff too, and they'll make a milkshake or cake out of any ice cream you want.

Our go to place for ice cream for any occasion. Moms cake batter and the rainbow cookie flavors are our favorites but there are many flavors to choose from! We get our birthday cakes here and it is always a hit at parties. We've since converted friends into ice cream cakes for birthdays, they love it so much :)

The ice cream there was so delicious! The staff was nice too. My only problem: due to covid there was signs up that said there was a limit of four customers at a time and the customers were NOT following the rules. The place is very small so it felt very crowded. I'm not going to fault the staff for that since that's not the staffs fault. I just wish people knew how to read.

Not only the best local mom and pop ice cream place I have ever been too, I think they are far better than any Carvel, Baskin-Robbins or big franchise you can visit. Everything is fresh and original. I have been coming here since they opened up 30 years ago and love knowing my money is going to a company that is a staple in the community. I 100% recommend them, you will be supporting a local business and you will love every bit of it too!

Favorite flavors: Rum Raisin (mouthwatering), Banana Nut Crunch (shear joy!), Sicilian Pistachio (happiness in a cup), Black Forest (AMAZING!). Smooth, excellent ice creams. Delectable flavors, VERY NATURAL tasting, creamy and savory. Ice Cream Cottage Cakes are fantastic, especially when mixing flavors. Very festive if arraigned with (edible) photo. Absolutely scrumptious when accented with the Oreo cookies crunch. MUST TRY!

Absolute staple of an astablishment. The employees are extremely helpful. Always get what I want when I want. Portion sizes out of this world. More candy options than 711 itself. I’m never disappointed in my stay at the cottage. Rum Rasin and Fresh Bannana and Mastic mash are the BEST flavors combined I highly recommend it.

I used to go to the Ice Cream Cottage as a kid, we drove there from Ronkonkoma because the ice cream was so so so so so great! I felt that they were incredibly generous with their portions, which - as a kid - was just what I wanted! And the flavors were so good, and rich, and they have so many great toppings. My cousins knew the owner I think....awesome ice cream place!!!!

I used to get Carvel cakes for special occasions. No more! I have ordered a total of three cakes from the ice cream cottage in the past year and I’m always blown away, they are simply the best! These cakes are so superior to Carvel that I guarantee you will never go back for a Carvel cake again. You choose your ice creams and how you want them layered and how much of each layer will be put into your cake and then they will do the rest. Delicious!

Customer service is always very fast and efficient. They run the establishment very well. Even for a tight space it always moves. plus their creative ice cream flavors are always very good. never had a bad experience at Ice Cream Cottage.

Great ice cream quality. I was very happy with their flavor selections, it made it very hard to choose! I also think they were generous with their portions and you can choose multiple flavors to go in your cup or cone. The line can get hectic, but if you are not in a hurry it is 100% worth waiting for.

Long live Ice Cream Cottage! Best ice cream, best people, best memories! Also some popping rainbow cakes! Its not too pricey but also not cheap, but the quality shows! My personal favorite is the Cherry Chip! Literally no other ice cream shop I've ever been to across the entire country has had Cherry Chip. Seriously, the parking sucks, and the line is long, but it is always worth it in the end!

We went on a Thursday at 4:30 pm and it wasn't busy. It did start to pick up though by the time we left. They have at least 20 flavors of ice cream in addition to soft serve and ices. The staff was very nice as they let my whole family taste test flavors. The prices are decent too. For two small and one medium cups the total cost was only $10. Also for a medium you can pick 3 flavors and for a small 2 flavors which I thought was a nice touch.

Excellent iced cream, friendly staff, long lines, tough to park. Great little iced cream place with tons of flavors and wonderful iced cream. Nice selection of candy as well. Only thing hurting it is the long wait during the summer and parking that is a pain to get in and out of.

My small Sunday was a joke...the size of a quarter whipped cream topping and maybe a tea spoon of hot fudge that was cold. One very small scoop of ice cream Cost 6.50. my friend got two big scoops in large waffle cone for $5. Better deal for sure. Will try again...wish I took a picture

The ice-cream is the best in the world! The only problems I have is that it's small. The line is ussually out the door and it's a bit too crowded most of the time. Especially after 7pm or 8pm. The seating is just a few benches outside but most of the time, we just sit in the car to eat ice-cream. The staff is friendly and they give decent sized portions. They also have delicious candy here. I would definitely recommend coming here.

One of the best icecream shops on Long Island. Their prices have definitely increased, though. There is also a lot of cross contamination when it comes to the icecream barrels. There was peanut butter in my strawberry icecream, for someone with a nut allergy that could have obviously ended badly. Other than that, this place is amazing and certainly has the best tasting icecream closest to the Hamptons.

Ice cream is sooooo delicious. Would have given 5+ stars but somethings been going on in the last month or so with the workers, atmosphere amd even the portions. Hopefully they get back on track quick. We've gone here for years and would hate to lose them as our one and only ice cream parlor! Sometimes long lines but they generally move fast, worth the wait. Parking sucks but they also have a few spots on the back side of the building. People come and go so fast that spots come available quick, worth the wait.

There's always a long line here, which tells you how good their ice cream is. This last visit was a little bit of a letdown due to half of their freezers being down, so there were a lot less flavors to pick from. They did have basic flavors, which are still very good quality. I hope they fix this problem soon, as fewer selections will sell out too fast - especially in the summer.

Visited this establishment today, and ordered a pralines and cream in a cup, and my significant other had a strawberry cheesecake cone. The ice cream was delicious (better than Mr. Softee) and the price is much better too. Significantly cheaper. We got the same thing from Mr. Softee and it was almost $20 bucks. This place was 1/2 the price. Four stars because the floor had topping on it and I thought i stepped on something. Lol. But I'd visit again.

This place was very nice. I tried many flavors and they were all delicious. The flavors were not only good but incredibly accurate. The cappuccino chip flavor had actual cinnamon in it, and each flavor was the same, crafted to taste just like the flavor it was and with a homemade touch that cannot be faked. I give it four stars because the ice cream wasn't kept cold enough for my liking. It was too soft, in my opinion, but it tasted delicious so that made up for it. Taste-wise, this place would be hard to beat, so it is definitely worth a try.

One of the best ice cream place in Long Island. We used to come here with three kids for many years. This time we came with one of our kids and she enjoyed 3 scoops of ice cream on waffle cone. Banana nut is so good! Pistachio was not as good. We had a fun time!

Tons of flavor choices and unique ones & toppings.Sell Ice cream cakes & candy. The waffle bowls are great! However don't assume you will like their version of a flavor you are used to. I suggest ask to TASTE BEFORE YOU BUY. I tried couple and no thanks. My fan is pistachio, they have 2 choices for Sicilian-to me tastes pasty or pistachio nut idky but didn't like either so wasn't having it.

We just brought our kids here and they loved it.. Having grown up just east of Mastic, I only went to the Ice Cream Cottage once when I was about 10 years old, but I’ve been aware of this place as a local landmark for most of my life.. We recently heard that their ice cream was “homemade” so we thought we’d give it a try.. Their selection of flavors was pretty impressive, and they offer ice cream, gelato, sorbet and even Italian ices (they even had a vegan soft serve option).. We all found something that sounded appealing and tasted delicious!! They have a wide selection of toppings as well as cones, from sugar or waffle to pretzel or Oreo.. It was very crowded when we visited but it was all part of the fun and the line moved quickly.. Honestly we had just chosen our orders by the time we reached the counter. The prices were definitely reasonable if not cheap.. After we got our orders we joined all of the other customers outside on benches and ate our ice cream while our kids played with some new friends.. We didn’t try the cakes, so I can’t offer any feedback there, but the ice cream was great.. I’d say it was better quality and more appealing selection than Haagen Dazs or Ben & Jerry’s at a lower cost.. Side note, they have a HUGE selection of candy, both new and old school, so you can definitely get your fix here!! All in all a fun family experience and a great option for an occasional treat..

I mean, yes the ice cream is very good, BUT if I spend $6 for 3 scoops of ice cream, please give me 3 scoops. I received 2 tiny scoops and a half a scoop. Come on. Service is slowwwwwww. Be prepared to be on line for a very long time. You may even no longer be in the mood for ice cream by the time you're able to place your order. People rave about this place. Cool flavors, good ice cream but I don't know. It missed the mark a bit for me.

It's usually a good experience, but today was not.. I was looking to get a cherry dipped cone with vanilla ice cream. They are kept in the freezer and you have no way to identify what flavor ice cream it is. Even the girl behind the counter could not. So she thought she found a chocolate dip with vanilla, turns out it was chocolate. There was only one scoop on top of the cone, nothing inside it and the cone was mushy. Not one of my better experiences there. This is not to bash, just to help a situation that can be addressed.

Good ice cream. Not so great service. I am surprised at how you get treated here. I brought my 4 kids in (not busy at the time). The person helping us seemed already tired and aggravated at 11 am. We smiled and thanked the person who helped us with no response. My kids actually left sad (despite the ice cream). My children then mentioned they felt bad that the ice cream lady was not happy and didn’t seem to care about anything. To say the least they don’t want to go back anymore.

Yes, the ice cream is top notch. But it's really expensive. The staff enjoy talking to each other socially as you stand and wait. ALSO, while paying by card the option of giving a 10%, 20% tip was offered. Serving ice cream may pay poorly, but it felt uncomfortable to see. I'm not cheap, I do tip (when appropriate), this seems invasive. How do I know the servers get the tips?

First off have loved Ice Cream Cottage for 30+ years but frankly they need to do some upgrades. Went in there today and all ice creams were melted when when they served them to us, by the time we got home it was soup. The freezers weren't cutting it and venting into the shop made it hotter than the heat wave. Customer service was subpar today but usually is good. Overall great flavor as usual, but ice cream being cold is important to the experience.

I just came in there around 4:00 and I come very often bc of my pregnancy cravings and I told the young lady I wanted my shakes mixed and she totally ignored me and made all my shakes plain with one flavor . I noticed when I was in there but bc it was soo busy and she was the only person I wasn’t gonna hold up the line but not only did she mess up my shakes she gave me a attitude at the register and threw the straws at me . I never had an experience like this bc the people are usually so nice and respectful but this time I don’t know what happened and don’t know if I will be returning .

We ordered from grubhub. It took two hours to get it. Guy gave us the wrong bag. When we went to go pick up our actual order, our purchase did not have a receipt and our name was written in crayon on the brown bag. We ordered for 11 people and nothing was labeled. The orders were wrong and one had a long black hair in it. Worst experience with this place.

Ice Cream is extremely normal. Worse. For example the cookie dough 'chunk' ice cream has cookie dough (small balls with little flavor) every fifth bite. Very underwhelming. Low quality. Normally it would be a 3 star since it was just not good amd overpriced but the customer service doesnt even have the decency to answer their phone

Where does the order line begin? So narrow in there to stand. Lines not moving fast like the ice cream is melting while waiting to pay. Maybe it should all be free ice cream. It was once a good place to go back in the days. Oh and the peanut items are not separate from the other. So if your child has a reaction to nuts, then this is not the place to go.

Placed an order for pickup. Asked for spoons and napkins...none. almost 5$ for 2 scoops of ice cream. 4 scoop containers were smaller. Stopped going there because of accuracy issues. Flavors are still good. Just not what it used to be.

Lived here for 22 years of my life, I love ice cream cottage, the service is not the same!!! This is the second time in a row we were rushed out of the door. I’m a manager of a restaurant I completely understand wanting to go home and closing up but we came 30 min before closing and wasn’t taking long to order, we didn’t get any toppings we wanted the girl just closed our ice creams and it felt super rushed!!! This is the second time the same girl did this in a row, I can’t resist not going here ever again but I think it’s gonna be a supper long time before I go back again.

Been going here for 10 years the last 2 times I went me and my wife's cone only had 2 small scoops which isn't the normal and then my wife got cherry vanilla which she gets everytime n the cone was mostly cherry n limited ice cream because the way the girl scooped it out .... I asked the manager to remake the cone and explained that it normal is very good but the last 2 times we weren't happy n the manager was extremely rude and told us he makes the ice cream n it hasn't changed n was really unprofessional about helping us ...unfortualty I won't give my business anymore!!!

Their ice cream doesn’t taste that fresh to me. I don’t know why but I honestly prefer Carvel over them. Also beware if you go here while it’s busy. The lines can go out the door and honestly the organization isn’t that great. Even when you’re inside it’s kind of confusing to figure out where to stand. It’s a shame they don’t expand the place because I know they can afford to with the way people go there everyday. But it’s not my cup of tea....

I can’t believe how much this place has change, does John still own it? I was trying to order a large birthday cake for next day pick up and couldn’t do it on-line, so I called and told them what I was looking for wasn’t there. There response was we can’t take cake orders over the phone - how ridiculous. They just lost all the birthday cake business I have been giving them over the past twenty something years. What a shame.

I Walked in just to pick up one of their already made cakes that they keep in the freezer. Did not need any writing on the cake, did not want any added toppings, just wanted to pay for the cake and be on my way. They IGNORED ME and literally would charge person after person and continue to ignore me while I stood in front of the register. I asked a few times for help and even had to call the store while standing in front of the register and tell them that I was in front of the register but could not get help, and they still ignored me! This is not the way you treat a customer, you never ignore a customer! Specially when the customer is right in front of you when you are at the register and you choose to charge someone else rather than address the customer that can easily be charged in a matter of minutes. When I started talking to another customer about how I could not pay for a simple cake and how I was being ignored they finally decided to pay attention. Charging me took the girl one minutes because I used Apple Pay. This terrible experience could've easily been avoided if you just would have addressed me personally instead of ignoring me. Terrible customer service.

The service is okay but one of the girls have an attitude problem. When a group of people come in one person should finish the group not have another worker work on the same group. The worker had a nasty attitude The ice cream is great but the owner need to communicate more with his employees ONE WORKER SHOULD HELP a group not have people waiting.

Greedy place lost a steady customer. I used to buy pints. Tried the salted caramel it was inedible, way over salted. Called the manager who refused to offer any refund or credit. They don't care at all about the customer and the staff seems clueless if you ask them anything. Not worth the lines and the ice cream is not great. I ordered a 3 scoop and a 2 scoop (rainbow cookie, and chocolate peanut butter, peanut butter fudge and reese's). They were the sizes of a 2 and 1 scoop. Also paid an extra charge for hot fudge and there was barely any put on. Flavors weren't anything special. When I called and asked if maybe they made a mistake, I was informed that the sizes were correct. I don't mind paying more for good quality, but besides the underwhelming flavors, the price for the portion was ridiculous. Will just get friendlys next time.

Usually go to Ralph’s but they close for the winter, so tried the cottage I hear so much about. Honestly it sucked, ordered a Sunday soft ice cream with peanut butter sauce and chocolate crunch. So for $9.95 I got a cup of ice cream with literally 1squirt of peanut butter on top and a teaspoon of chocolate crunch. RIPOFF!!! Was really disappointing. Ralph’s put toppings bottom, middle and top, all I got here was a cup of ice cream with PRACTICALLY NOTHING ON IT! I don’t know do the employees have to pay for toppings they put on people’s Sundays???? I’m done with this place, DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND

I asked for a thick shake and got literally a watery half empty “shake”. I won’t spend a dime here again. Ps: the girl who prepared the shake asked me what flavors I would like for my shake. I chose 3 and she made a face saying “I don’t think that will taste good” Really ??? As a customer I choose the flavors I like and want because I’m paying for it.

$5 for a half of a scoop. It was like we were bothering them being there. The icee machine was broken and the Italian ice had freezer burn. If you're not interested in business you're doing a great job. Sad portions with "No" costumer service.

I called to order a cake for pickup and the young lady who picked up told me she could not do over the phone orders and to place it online before 8pm.. sure no problem. I placed the order at 7:14pm for pick up at 4pm the next day and got a confirmation message and everything. I then get a call around 1:30pm saying they cannot make my cake that there are no cake decorators. I was placed on a hold to see if there was something they can do and after waiting for about 10 min they hung up. I then called back and was connected to a very very very rude lady who was further explaining how there is no cake decorators and they cant do anything. I even offered to pick it up later. I explained how special and important this was for me and she offered no sympathy or resolutions to get this matter resolved. She just kept saying how "she does not work at night so she does not know what is going on" I was really counting on this cake today and I am so disappointed. Please do better and train your workers to understand protocols!!!! I am so upset and now frantically searching to find a new cake for an event later tonight.

I am so incredibly tired of receiving incorrect orders at this place. I never leave reviews like this especially for local businesses but every single time we have placed an online pickup order here in the last 6 months, something is wrong with it. The last time we were missing an entire ice cream and had to turn around and drive all the way back after coming home. This time, I paid $2 more for toppings they neglected to put on. We keep giving them the benefit of the doubt because the ice cream is good, but there’s no excuse for this, it’s just pure laziness and it’s happened more times than I can count. We have been coming here for about 15 years and this place has significantly gone down hill in recent years. I’ll likely go back to the place in Manorville when they re-open in the spring.
