Great, fresh and hip atmosphere. Food was good, and there was an extensive wine list. The wine/coffee woman was knowledgeable and helpful.

Such a great new addition to the Sonoma Square. Great, creative food, super charming ambiance, and the friendliest people. We felt very safe the whole time - social distanced tables, protected table mats / silverware and efficient ordering systems in place to keep everyone feeling good eating out. We ordered the olives, shishito peppers, the lettuces, eggplant, and the sausage. Everything tasted super fresh. Especially loved the dressing over the eggplant and the roasted grapes that accompanied the sausage. Last but not least - amazing wine menu with some local and natural gems. We will be back again very soon!

I had no expectations concerning this lovely restaurant, but realized it was a gem. The two owners came to our tablle because the gentleman I was with had brought back a lovely bottle of wine from Portugal. We all tasted it, and that was the beginning of a truly Michelin level of dining. I had the haddock while my partner had the beef. The meal was exquisite from the bread offered from a local individual to the sumptuous food. It checked all the boxes necessary for a fabulous night in downtown Sonoma. Thank you! Janice….. in France

This place is amazing. Such cool and unique wines! They have a sparkling wine from Eastern Europe that was awesome and impossible to find anywhere else in the area. The staff knows the wines very well and we’re super kind and welcoming.

This place is comfortable and adorable! Food ranges from excellent to good. We had shrimp toast, XO egg and greens with green goddess. So good! My entree chicken was a tad dry but flavorful. The salmon entree was small but delicious! Of note, service is a bit wonky. You need to be proactive. It’s workable though. Also the wine list is predominantly french. Which I like however we try to drink local when traveling and did find a delicious California Chardonnay.

Just by chance we walked in. What a great move because we just landed in Sonoma and we’re so hungry. They sat us and got us coffee and Cava. The cute small special place was warm and just so inviting. Staff was on par as well. We ordered the chilaquiles ( No Pictures because we ate so fast) and by far the best I’ve had ever….. this is a must try place that is tucked away in the Sonoma plaza….

Amazing food, wine and vibes! We went for dinner and back for brunch the next day. I love Valley and recommend it to everyone visiting Sonoma!

Really loved the food and service. Fresh ingredients, fantastically paired and orchestrated flavor mixed with great service. It generated a very memorable good experience.

Have been wanting to try this place but for some reason or another I keep postponing a visit. It’s hands down the best dinner I have had in a long time. Small plates for sharing and I don’t know what was better…every dish outshined the last. Don’t let the limited menu scare you or don’t be worried if you think the small plates won’t fill you up…THEY DO!

Wonderful brunch spot on Sonoma Square. Had the best BLT in a very long time as well as the chilaquiles which were spicy and delicious. Bring your appetite.

Such a gem of a place, you would never know based on the humble exterior. The back patio is such a #mood, great wine list and the food is scrumptious. #chefskiss. The staff are all so friendly and attentive. And did I mention the food is spectacular? :P (Had the poached eggs with beans and tostada)

All-around excellent. This is my vibe for a restaurant. Very chic, small, and lit by low light and candles throughout. And then there’s the food. Wow it’s so good. Went with three others so we were able to share a great many of their plates, of which I imagine change over regularly. Service was wonderful. One of my favorite meals in quite some time. Bravo!

My daughter and I stopped in here for a quick nibble at the bar. Our wine paired nicely with our hors d'oeuvres and my doppio espresso was quite tasty! We had a nice time sitting there mingling with staff and other patrons...and our server was very personable and attentive, which always adds value to the experience! Looking forward to coming back for a full dining experience!

Valley is a wonderful spot among Sonoma’s beautiful wineries. The restaurant feels cozy, and the food is really tasty. The service is friendly and attentive. And the wine selection is great! We had a fantastic time at Valley and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sonoma

Such a cute space. A little weird going up to order but the food is delicious. XO egg is worth it, cumin lamb was a favorite and the fried chicken was crunchy and juicy. Didn't love the shrimp roll but others might.

Valley is a new bistro style cafe/restaurant that’s a nice surprise! Casual and welcoming! A well-chosen wine selection, unique food and culinary creations that are satisfying and stir the tastebuds. Stumbled in for a scrumptious afternoon tea; Valley’s pastry selections were excellent and original. I want to go back for dinner. Dinner begins at 5PM. Indoor and outdoor seating. A very pleasant patio space in back. Street parking in front. Being right at the plaza in one of the historical buildings adds to its charm and ambiance. Service and attention to detail is outstanding.

Let me tell you right now, you won’t be disappointed with their wine selection. They have amazing wines that you can buy by the bottle or they have wines by the glass. Currently as I’m writing this they have outdoor seating in the back patio and in front. If you can make reservations days ahead, trust me on this. We got lucky this night while we were in the area and wanted to try this place out and the staff was super nice. They put us on the waitlist and honestly most people will add their name on the waitlist and find another place to eat instead of waiting. The food was AMAZING. The trout was perfectly cooked and the skin was a surprise crispy treat. Everything paired so well together even the Rosé we ordered for the table. My wife had the Braised pork and our friend that tagged along had the half Chicken. This place won’t disappoint, so I recommend trying it now before it’s hard to get in.

Adorable place! Ambient: Relaxed, ampious, welcoming, non-pretentious. Food: I can always tell if I am going like a restaurant from their bread and their coffee. This place scores high on both. I truly loved the fried artichokes - delicious! Wine: They have an ample selection to choose from. Ask for advice, staff is knowledgeable. I would totally recommend stopping here if you happen to be in the area.

Labor Day weekend 2022: Valley was fantastic. We came in without a reservation with four adults and a child. They sat us near the entrance which ended up perfect because the traffic entertained our 17 month old. The food that was being served was brunch and it was delicious. We ordered the fried green tomato sandwich, French toast, fried eggs with peppers and sausage - and we recommend ALL THE THINGS. We even ordered pastries to go for the next morning (photo). We recommend and will be back! My aunt even liked the vibe of the bathroom and required I go check it out. 🙃 Very cool vibes. Update 1 year later: hasn’t changed. Amazing food. Friendly staff. Aesthetics on point. The food is so good. We had an olive oil cake that was to die for! Everything was delicious.

Dang good and very close to 5 stars for us. We had brunch. It was simple yet complex at the same time. We thought the food and service were spot on. Prices are completely reasonable for the quality. We will definitely be back and highly recommend a visit for newcomers. Updated: 11/29/2021 went for dinner. Delicious. Great atmosphere, cozy, romantic. This place is top 5 in town for us for sure. Excellent service as well. Changing to 5 stars!

Excellent place in downtown Sonoma for casual, upscale food and natural wines. Nice large outdoor back patio that is covered and heated with lamps in the winter. Dogs welcome in the back. Went to Friday lunch, recommend the greens and cheddar grilled cheese sandwich and the fried eggs with lentils. The hippie salad is large and a nice balance to the heavier sandwiches. Also ordered the mortadella sandwich and hot ham and cheese. Great spot for anytime of day!

Michelin-star magic at Valley. We kicked off our course with the shrimp egg rolls—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly paired with soy and spicy mustard dipping sauces. Next came the albacore crisp with pomelo and ginger—fresh, bright, and proof you can never go wrong with a crudo. The standout of the night? The Dan Dan noodles with spicy pork—bold, deeply flavorful, and hands down our favorite dish. Hidden Valley serves as a thoughtful homage to the Chinese-American classics we love, drawing inspiration from the deep history of Chinese immigrants in Sonoma and the rich cultural influence of the greater Bay Area. Paired with our own bottle of Pangloss Cellars 2017 Zinfandel and complemented by the warmest, most delightful service, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. A must when in wine country.

Our hosts brought us here as they said it was their favorite. And I can see why. The first word that comes to mind to describe it is fresh. You look at the menu and you want one of everything, which is kind of what you do. They have small plates which lend themselves to be shared. We were lucky enough to have our hosts’ guidance on what to get. Our order: XO egg- a delicious deviled egg with some sort of meat on top. A MUST Tomato Toast: sounds lame but the show stopper of the day! It comes piled high with tomatoes on the best bread. I could have had 5 orders of it alone. Poblano dip: this was tasty and good to share. Lettuces with green goodness and seeds: decent portion, super fresh, and surprisingly satisfying Crispy rice with ginger sauce: you will order it, you will LOVE it. Goes good with any entree. Black Cod: surprisingly the best protein we had. Burst of good solid flavor. Greek lamb: not our favorite as it felt one note but not bad by any means. Usually you are in a bad place if you say you are in a valley but this Valley transports you to a better place. Not only with the food but also the service. It felt like all their employees helped us in some way. It felt like a community feel!! Go experience this place for yourself! It is on the Michelle’s Guide for a reason!

We had an outstanding lunch here. The atmosphere was great as we dined next to someone arranging fresh flower bouquets in the outdoor dining area. We had the fruit and ricotta, the quinoa and the hippie salad and they were all fresh and delicious. It was easy to get a table and the service was good. Great location in Sonoma Plaza.

We stopped in, had a glass of wine and some lunch. Really great food. I had the hippie salad and it was fantastic. All the food we saw on other tables looked good as well. Great back patio, nice chic boutique type of place. Good wine selection. I would come again for sure.

What a cool little lunch spot! They also offer brunch and dinner, but we went for lunch on a weekday as while their menu is very limited for lunch, they still had items we loved. Their special was a panko breaded chicken breast over a salad with ranch and it was really tasty. Their hippie salad is very popular, as we saw many tables (including ours) with it. The staff was friendly and the setting is quaint and nice. We sat in their outside, back patio area, it was quite large and shaded, so we were comfy. Also appears they are Michelin rated, based on the sign out front when we walked in. We’d definitely return and it’s a place that people visiting should try!

The Valley Breakfast was an explosion of flavors. You could taste each ingredient with each bite. The chilaquiles were perfectly spicy and each tortilla chip had just enough beans. The side of bacon was flavorful and perfectly crispy. We are going back tomorrow.

Stopped in for breakfast with a couple of friends and the food was fantastic! My partner and I shared the Bodega breakfast sandwich — easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The American breakfast was also a hit, especially the crispy potatoes. We also split the cinnamon toast, which was a generous portion, super fluffy, and absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly, though it seemed like they might have been a bit understaffed — three of us had to get our drinks remade due to mix-ups. That said, it didn’t take away from the experience. This was hands down my favorite meal during our Sonoma getaway, and I’ll definitely be back!

Really fantastic flavor combinations. We tried most of the menu and I really liked the melon salad and the peanut noodle dish, but everything was really delicious. The French toast was perfectly done, the salad was fresh and delicious, the sandwiches were on fresh buns and were well made. This place clearly has a passionate chef with a good understanding of flavor.

Our family had a great Valentine's Day dinner at Valley Bar + Bottle! The food was delicious, and the staff was very kind :) During our meal, when our 4-year-old son was growing impatient, the owner took him on a tour of the kitchen, including giving him some bread and apples. Afterward, we were dealing with a flat tire on our rental car (which didn't have a spare tire) and asked the restaurant if we could come back inside while we waited for our Uber. The owner's reply was, "of course!". We had already paid, left an hour earlier, and I am not sure she even remembered us, but she still opened a table for us to sit at for 20 minutes. We will never forget this day, but Valley Bar and Bottle was the best part of this eventful Valentine's Day!

Had such a lovely experience at Valley last night. It was over the top good vibes. Music was perfect. Lanterns were cozy and romantic. And everyone working there was just wonderful- attentive, helpful & kind. Thanks Valley Bar & Bottle for everything you bring to our little town.

Made reservations for a busy holiday weekend at this spot. It’s nicely decorated and has a fantastically hyper-seasonal menu that’s continuously rotating, so don’t be surprised if something you saw online isn’t on that day’s menu. We were seated on the patio where you must go up to a desk and order. So in that regards, it’s pretty self-serve. Even after ordering, we often had to wait a long time for things such as small plates or another pour of wine. That left a bit to be desired.

T
Tracy Knueven

We came here for dinner and it was a Wembly experience on the back patio. Service was excellent and the small plates work out great for us. We started with the deviled eggs which you only get two in an order so for four people it’s basically 1/2 of an egg each. It was tasty though. The wine we chose was great and the meal was overall very flavorful. It’s right on the square in Sonoma, so it is a great location. Overall, a good experience.

R
Ron Rogers

They have a small, but not crowded indoor space. The back patio outdoor space is great. Covered by a tent and mostly out of the elements. The service was inconsistent. Sometimes good and other times slow. The food was a bit disappointing. Pecorino with fava beans 4/5, asparagus with Tonnato and capers 3.5/5, barbacoa 4.5/5, and the fried chicken 3/5. Like most of Sonoma the wine choices were good.

A

We are party of 4 and it was our first time visit the Valley. We all love the food and we ate them all but our waitress was not. She seemed to very happy to all the tables she reserved and everyone on our table noticed it. That was very unfortunate, we could enjoy even more if we weren’t served by this lady. We will definitely go back for the food.

A
Alexandra Coulter

Valley was a cute restaurant and I can see why it is recognized. Wouldn’t recommend for anyone needing allergy / other accommodations as they wouldn’t even put the dressing on the side for their salad that was only lettuce leaves the size of my face. The half chicken was nice as were a couple of the small plates. Service was ok but slow and again not accommodating. Food took a very long time to come out (and it was a Monday night with the dining room nearly empty). The entire meal took about 2.5 hours.

T
Timothy Ip

Overall we were not too impressed. The service was great and the inside has a very casual and comfy vibe. The mezze was good but the olives were… just olives, and the chicory Caesar salad just got more and more bitter as it went. Adding chicken brings the salad to $30 which is really quite shocking even for Sonoma. I do have to say the chicken was perfectly cooked though.

J
Jocelyn Behrens

Excellent cozy place to have cocktails and small bites but I little of bit overpriced for the food. We ordered the Half Chicken, the Crunchy rice, the miso Brussels sprouts and Hummus with crudités, it was all good but not amazing - The staff was very attentive and sweet to us.

L
Lexy McCauley

Solid restaurant. It’s quite hipstery. The added price of chicken for $12 is a lot in my opinion, but they do give you a hefty serving of chicken. Their menu is minimal and it doesn’t really include details about what will be included in each dish. We had to ask about every dish we ordered. The tea was interesting. I’m convinced it’s a Horton hears a who situation and there’s a community of whos in that tea kingdom (see photo). Our service was somewhat slow but vibes were cool. Nice bathroom.

We had reservations here (recommended) and found the building clean and modestly decorated. We were seated immediately and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant works on the small plate idea so sharing the way to go. We consulted with our server and she let us try a wine. We shared a couple of the entrees and both were well presented and delicious. I particularly liked the cod and lintels. . Definitely be going back. Urban Cowgill Nov 2023

Greeted and seated by a warm, gracious and friendly host and seated at a sweet corner table in outside back patio. You order at the outside counter and they bring your food to table. Service was friendly but slowed considerably at the end that we got up to order dessert (to go). It was a pretty busy Thursday evening. The spicy melon appetizer was gorgeous and refreshing though sitting in a bit too much juice. Crispy rice, fried chicken and halibut mains were fantastic. Good thing I dressed warmly and brought a blanket as I didn’t see any heaters. Got a little cold and ready to go after sitting on hard wooden chairs so ordered delicious olive oil cake to go. Love the local, seasonal values; excellent food, and nice service—will be back.

It was a rather disappointing experience. On service, my rating is a 2. Starting with a wait of 30 minutes past our reservation. The service at the table was mediocre, with long waits for the dishes, outside of the appetizers that came fairly quickly. The food was average with a rating of 2. A lot of the dishes were overly sour. The overall ambiance of the place is more similar to a bar than a restaurant. I found that their system requiring ordering at a separate table to be rather strange. Is it because they not have enough staff? All in all, it was a rather disappointing experience.

I recently had plans to dine at this restaurant and was surprised and disappointed to find out when we were seated that the evening's menu was highlighting Palestinian cuisine alongside overt encouragement to donate to causes related to Gaza. While I recognize that many people have strong feelings about the conflict in the Middle East, I was not expecting to be confronted with a political message during what I had anticipated would be a neutral and enjoyable dining experience. There was no mention of this theme on the website or in the reservation confirmation, which I felt was misleading. As someone who cares deeply about the situation and the urgent need to bring the hostages home--I found it upsetting to have a sensitive and deeply polarizing issue introduced without any advance notice. These matters are incredibly complex, and I don't believe that a dining experience is the appropriate venue for promoting one narrative over another, particularly when guests are unaware they are entering a politicized setting. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and considers providing clear advance notice in the future when hosting themed evenings that include political or humanitarian elements. Your guests deserve the opportunity to make informed choices.

Ordered 2 American breakfast w coffee. That came w baked potatoes, bacon, & eggs. We had to ask for condiments instead of just being available at the table. Food was BASIC nothing out of the ordinary. The coffee was good. Service could've been a lot better honestly. Won't recommend or return here again.
