Fantastic restaurant! Impressive look both inside and out. It’s rustic modern style they got happening and it works really to set up the environment that is heavily influenced by Mexican architecture and is also reflected their menu. Inside and outside seating are available. Although sitting outside when it’s windy is not recommended as you will get sprinkled with water from the near fountain. Their enchiladas (not pictured) are absolutely great! They remind of home when my mother would make them from scratch. I definitely would recommend the Pechunga de Pollo (it’s a Mesquite grilled chicken breast with sautéed peppers and onions. Serve with homemade guacamole, pico de gallo, Mexican rice and frijoles a la charra) Alcohol is like every other place you would get but the convenience is that you can get it here. Strawberry Mint is a good combo for a drink. Ask for recommendations! Never hurts to ask. Overall, you should check this place out!
Absolutely loved this place! Plenty of parking. Visited at lunchtime the day before Christmas Eve. Service was quick and efficient. Comfortable atmosphere. Ordered fajitas for two and had our order within 15 minutes. The food was fresh and flavorful. A surprisingly excellent experience!!! 10 out of 10 would recommend.
Uncle Julio’s delivers a vibrant and satisfying Tex-Mex dining experience that’s perfect for any occasion. From the warm, inviting decor to the upbeat atmosphere, it’s a spot that feels lively and fun from the moment you walk in. The menu offers a wide variety of Tex-Mex classics, and everything is fresh and flavorful. The fajitas are a standout—served sizzling hot with perfectly seasoned meat, fresh tortillas, and all the fixings. The table-side guacamole is a must-order, made fresh to your liking, and the queso is creamy, rich, and highly addictive. The portions are generous, making it great for sharing, and the service is friendly and attentive. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just craving Tex-Mex, Uncle Julio’s is a reliable choice. And don’t forget dessert—the Chocolate Piñata is not only delicious but a fun interactive experience that’s perfect for sharing. Uncle Julio’s consistently delivers great food, excellent drinks, and a lively atmosphere. Highly recommend!
One of my favorite things about this place is the complimentary fire roasted salsa. It always has a fresh taste with the charred tomatoes adding a delicious fire taste. The steak is very good with strong fajita marinade flavors. Always a good meal. The guacamole is delicious as well. Fresh made !
First time here and it was extremely nice. The atmosphere is lovely. Everyone was extremely friendly. The menu is not crowded with a bunch of dishes. I ordered the blood orange margarita and it was so refreshing. I could have drank an entire pitcher. I ordered the street tacos carnitas and WOW….flavorful. It came with rice and beans on the side Lastly our server was very helpful with suggestions. I would definitely come back again.
Have been here several times and they have never let me down. Everything I have gotten here has been super fresh and always cooked perfectly, today was no exception. The fresh guacamole they make is seriously some of the best I’ve ever had. The only suggestion I have is to get the jalapeños on the side as they are raw and can make it a tad spicy sometimes, but on the side you can add at your own discretion and make it perfect. Their new menu item, barbacoa, is fantastic! My barbacoa fajitas were everything I hoped for and more. Also, the cilantro lime rice is also a must have with any dish here. The absolute BEST. The enchiladas were also great. Exactly what you want. The agave queso they serve here is also fantastic, a must try either by itself or topped on your entree. Margaritas are a tad pricey but really good quality ingredients and tequila are used so it’s expected! Love this place and will continue returning!
Really great food as just about everything is made fresh, in-house and from scratch. I'd reccomend the Guadalajara plate or the Carne Asada plate with or without the cheese and onion enchiladas( I ordered my enchiladas with ground beef). The salsa appears to be fire-roasted and is absolutely delicious! I'm not a queso fan, but the queso here....omg! Try it!
Just went here with a friend and our server Chase was fantastic! The vibe was great and to be honest the food didn’t blow me away but Chase made our night real memorable and he was so upbeat. I hope to come by again and get to experience that same energy from the employees!
Always a pleasure to visit this establishment! Friendly faces, top-notch service, great food, and fabulous drinks! The fajitas are fantastic, so tender, and always perfectly cooked to our liking! My apologies, I didn't take a photo of the fajitas. The mouthwatering salsa is everything! And the Michelada and Margaritas were perfect! 2 thumbs 👍 👍 👌 up!
We came here for the dessert but the food was great. I am not a huge Mexican food fan but this was great. The meal starts off with two different types of salsa and ends with a chocolate piñata that you break open to get to the fruit and churros. The waitress Kylie who is also the bartender was fantastic. She was attentive and refilled drinks before we even had to ask. Met the Manager and she was nice and checked to make sure our meal was good. I recommend for just a date night or bring the family and celebrate a birthday. A little on the pricy side but great food, service and atmosphere. Thank you!
I visited the place and I must say it was wonderful, the flavor of the food, and above all, the true gem of the place: Ana, the bartender. Her service was outstanding. I would love to come back with my family. I highly recommend it, 10/10.
Ana was the highlight of our visit. Always smiling, attentive to every detail, and her cocktails were fantastic. You can tell she truly loves what she does. We will definitely return!
Great Mexican cuisine location in Spring, TX! Started a bit rough since the host didn’t really speak to us when we were first seated (kind of just led us to our table without a hello), but our server, Sydney, turned the experience around. Food was pretty great! Got to try the Guadalajara plate. Wasn’t too impressed with their skirt steak fajitas, but their chicken fajitas and their bacon wrapped shrimp was delicious. Their chile con queso was also pretty good. Overall a pretty great first visit to Uncle Julio’s.
Went out for a birthday dinner. The food was good but I won't say there's anything special about it. The drinks were amazing, not much alcohol but great flavor and nice selection. The service was very attentive, and the waitress was polite and kind. The best part was definitely the dessert.
Haven’t had a problem with food when I dine in. This is the reason I ordered delivery today as I had work meetings. I did contact the restaurant to ask questions regarding the their security and safety of the food for delivery. When received, the safety seal had been tampered with. Of course I did not eat the delivery, but it’s just unsettling and will not use Favor delivery again. Restaurants should also be more proactive in securing food also. One seal is not enough.
Gabriel did an amazing job last night! He recommended us the steak fajitas and they were right on point. He was very attentive to our needs, definitely coming back! The atmosphere of this place was great, they have plenty of booths and tables. 10/10.
Spent the evening here with a large 20 person homecoming dance send off dinner for my son's and their friends and their families. Catered event in their private party room. Worked with the manager Yazmin to coordinate this flawless event. Julio provided the service attending to 20+ people in assisted for 2 hours while balancing his floor service duties!!!!!!!!Superb service!!!! The food was spectacular and the chocolate pinata desserts were a blast for bat swinging teens. Watching the pop the pinata was a blast ... It tasted delicious!!!!!! Thank you Uncle Julio's for hosting this amazing event!!!!! This is place to host your family and friends events or just a family outing.....
Lunch for two using Resy credit. I appreciate that Uncle Julios has lunch menu with a big plate of food for $12. It is popular with work groups and great for small parties. We each had taco and enchilada meal. Free chips and tasty salsa. Happy hour advertised from 3pm and even a late 8pm happy hour. Lots of booth seating for cozy feel. A color drenched interior.
Very quick customer service from the time my husband and I walked in! We had a reservation for 2pm today and were greeted by a very polite lady. The food was yummy, and our server was very friendly and efficient with refilling our drinks and bringing us our food. The food was amazing! We drove from Huntsville to find a new date spot, and we will definitely be coming back soon!
The visit had a rough beginning, but ended up being a very pleasant experience. It was a bit cold in the restaurant as well as being dimly lit, making it hard to see the menu. While visiting customers, the manager asked how everything was and we mentioned how chilly it was (as did the people next to us) and she agreed and adjusted the temperature making it much more comfortable. It took a while to be waited on, but after that everything else was great. We were checked on often by the waitress to make sure our drinks were filled and the food was very good. The servings had good portions and tasted very pleasant. It is definitely worth a return visit.
Always a pleasure to come back to my favorite restaurant in the area! Service is always delightful, and the churro cake was an amazing treat to top off lunch!!

This was our first time trying Uncle Julio's...good food, and great customer service!! My husband and I did their curbside fajitas, and had a pickup picnic in the back of our truck, watching the beautiful pond (getting creative during COVID times lol). The chicken and sides were good, but the beef was very raw. So, we walked back to the restaurant and they immediately fixed it. We not only got a new container of freshly cooked beef, but all new, hot sides. PLUS they offered us guacamole on the house. They definitely went above and beyond. Next time, we will try out their lovely patio! Thanks for the good food and customer service!!
Our waiter was awesome and the restaurant is really nice, but the food was just okay.
This is a great place for delicious Mexican food. The food was fresh and tasty. The staff was super friendly and very efficient. Looking forward to going back soon.
Went here on a weekday afternoon. Got enjoy all the chips and salsa while getting ready to order ! I had gotten the steak fajitas and must I say the tortillas they make in house are soooo good. They are delicious and be sure to ask for more. Service was good! They were thoughtful and made sure we had all we needed. Atmosphere is pretty much the same across all uncle Julio’s. It had a dark rustic feel but it’s cozy. They also have bar!
My husband made reservations for us at 7pm, when we got there they could not find any record of our reservation. A manger was called and he couldn't find it either. He was super helpful and found us a table anyway. The fresh strawberry margarita was AMAZING. And the steak fajitas were the best I've ever had. My only complaint here was our server she dudnt come and check on us often and when we would ask for something it would take forever for her to return with it. Other than that this place was awesome and we will be back!!!
Very, very good Tex Mex. I like the grilled beef and chicken fajitas the best. Also their bacon wrapped shrimp are amazing. The food is top quality, expensive but good. The best place to go for birthdays get the chocolate piñata it’s always a hit it’s even fun to get when there’s not a special occasion. It looks great and taste better. Huge restaurant also has a huge outdoor dining patio when the weather‘s good.❤️
Tried Uncle Julios a few years back and did not enjoy the food at all so we never went back until this weekend. Wife talked me into trying Uncle Julios again and I'm glad she did. The atmosphere inside is somewhat upscale but casual at the same time. Food was pretty good and the fajita meet was tasty and very tender. Will be back soon and possibly make this a current place to eat with the family.
A solid option for Tex-mex. I ordered the Baja fish tacos. The fish had a good tasting batter that was fried to perfection with the right amount of crunch. The tortillas were freshly made and fried as well that had a homemade taste. Paired it with a frozen margarita that packed a good punch for its size and price. The staff was friendly and attentive during our visit. The restaurant's atmosphere had a good vibe that was fit for for a family dinner or a date night. With so many Tex-mex option to choose from I would definitely recommend Uncle Julio's to family, friends, and neighbors.
I went for lunch with a friend and while there is absolutely nothing to complain about, there’s not too much to set this place apart from the masses of Tex-Mex chain restaurants to choose from throughout the Houston Metroplex. I will say it’s a very spacious place, especially if you’re taking a large group. I would highly recommend this location for an event, gathering, birthday party - or anything of that nature. There is a curtained off, private dining room (see photos) that would be perfect for a medium-ish (maybe 20 people) party or event. There’s an incredibly specious outdoor seating area overlooking the waterway, that offers covered and open air seating options. There’s an outdoor conversation nook with a fireplace feature in the middle that would be great for simply having drinks after work with friends. There’s restaurant is beautiful and a great date spot nestled in the middle of a huge shopping center area with dessert & coffee options a few steps away. As far as the food - the fajitas were good, but not exceptional by any means. I stress - I am not, in any way, complaining - just trying to leave room with my reviews for exceptional when I find it 😉 I do have to add this - part of my rating is directly due to the incredibly disgusting state of the women’s restroom. That is unacceptable in ANY establishment. It was the most foul odor that is not a cleanliness issue it’s a maintenance issue that should be handled immediately. It was so bad I waited to use the restroom elsewhere and that is inexcusable in a restaurant that large with only one restroom for customers and staff.
Loved the chocolate pinata! Absolutely unique, fun, and tasty! The regular meal was good, but there's no heat or spice. And if you're going to have a thing about bringing fancy water in a bottle, at least get a good filter and chill it. Warm and tastes like straight from the tap. Service was very good. Prices were dependent on what you order, moderate to high. Worth a trip just for the chocolate pinata!

Went here in November 2025. They changed their queso and guacamole recipes, and they definitely changed for the worse. We had a newer server, i don't remember his name
Great creama and drinks. The ceviche was delicious!!! Too Julio has got it going on. We'll definitely be going back more and with friends.

Limited menu, slow service, ok food. They have only 3 dessert options, 2 of them are churros. We’re not coming back
Great location, love the layout and look of the building. The food is good. I ordered canitas... but had no idea they had some type of sweet sauce on them. I personally didnt care for the sauce because it made me feel like I had nothing but dessert for the rest of the day. I'll go back and order it without the sugar next time.
We were there yesterday for a late lunch and the place wasn't packed and busy at all. The receptionist took us to a very small area (a good for two) and it looked like only one person could fit in there. And yeah, some of our food obviously has to be put on top of the divider. It was very uncomfortable. The food was delicious though and we loved it.
I typically get take out from this location but recently decided to drop in for lunch. I must say that we do get a bit more food when it's delivered vs. when we dined in. The food is usually good and hits the spot, but that day after having the fish tacos, my face got a bit itchy. I'll probably start sticking to the chicken/beef fajitas for takeout. Nothing about the atmosphere really draws me in, I guess the pinata thing is cool for bdays, but other than that it's just ok. I'll stick to ordering in for taco cravings.
We came here after 10 months and I will say it was disappointing. Although the service, wait time, and cleanliness was good the quality of the food has definitely gone down, we visited after my sons ball game on a Thursday. I ordered Maria's combo plate, my plate came with a hard taco which was dripping in grease with no flavor, and my one enchilada was covered in cheese, and the re-fried beans compared to the last time I visited were bland and not made from scratch. It isn't really scratch kitchen anymore not sure if it was due to the change in ownership but will definitely find other options next time.
I expected the food to be better. I order the enchiladas. They were floating in cheese and grease. I had higher hopes from a place that makes food fresh. My son got the crispy tacos. His looked fresher and lighter than what I chose. I probably won't go back. I left over half my food on the plate.
The restaurant was very slow and the service was even slower. They do a fire roasted salsa and it just stresses me about cancer and carcinogens. Needless to say not the biggest fan. I did enjoy the green chili enchiladas.
It has been a while since dining at Uncle Julio's. The chips were not warm but fresh, and the salsa seemed a little watery but had nice flavor. I ordered one of each cheese and beef enchilada, and my husband ordered one of each a chicken and cheese enchilada and beef taco. I enjoyed both enchiladas. My husband was not a fan of the chicken enchilada. The chicken was pulled and had good flavor, but the sauce poured over the chicken enchilada added nothing. The sauce was kind of thin, with no real flavor. Service was good. The overall dining experience was okay.
Great location and locale. Extremely limited menu for some strange reason! Not many real Mexican options. Only three desserts, two of which are churros. Bad music.
Loved the decor and atmosphere- would be fun for a family gathering or a date night. Low light and pretty decor- beautiful archways. We had tacos. They were yummy, fresh ingredients and delicious flavors. The chips were my favorite kind- light and crispy. We also ordered the queso blanco which was a disappointment. It tastes like it melted velveeta- hardly the authentic experience I was expecting. Our service was so-so, friendly, but we had to wait on several things. (And, on a funny note, our server was unaware that salsa contains onions 😅)
Service was good atmosphere ok however the menu not much to it they must have taken alot off the menu and changed it. Came in for fajita tacos which they dont have anymore. Wife couldn't even find anything she liked no combination plates.of anything. She never even ate. So with all this said will never come back due to not much choices. They should go to.papasitos and see what a menu should look like.
I wanted to be impressed but I just wasn’t. The wait staff was slow and on top of that drinks that cost 3.00 to 3.50 and you can’t even stop back by to see if anyone needed refills? The restaurant was clean and had a calming atmosphere. But it was ok. I’d go back if I was in the area but i would not go out of my way.
Plenty of food, not tasty for Mexican food. Rice under cooked, lots of cheese, maybe too much. Nice decor and ambience. Wait staff friendly!

I have ordered the fajita chicken quesadillas multiple times. I usually can’t eat them all at once. As you can see, these are tiny. I called and was told they changed the size of them (while keeping the price the same of course). This is such a waste of money. I ordered 4 orders and they are all miniature. I will not be returning.
The quality of this restaurant has gone down over the years. It was 59 degrees in the building, when I walked by to see the thermostat. Food service was very slow when we were the only table left in our section. Unfortunately we won’t be returning!
This was the chicken & skirt steak fajitas. 3 pieces each for $24. Ridiculous! The rice taste like it’s the HEB boiled rice, the black beans are made like borracho beans & it was very disappointing. The guac had no flavor. Their salsa was also disappointing. I would never consider this mexican food. Definitely not made from scratch. Very sad if so. Definitely won’t be returning.
I would love to leave a good review but out of 8 people eating 8 different plates, they are all just ok. The margs are not good as well. I cannot recommend this place unfortunately.
The restaurant is beautiful. The waitress were extremely welcoming. However, the food was disappointing. I would never come back here again because of the food.
I wanted to like this place. Went in around 1PM on a Monday. Waited a long time for the hostess to “wipe off a booth”, when we saw several booths available. Sat down, ordered our drinks, appetizer, and food all at once because we had already scoped out the menu. I’ll give our waiter the benefit of the doubt, because I know restaurants are hurting right now with staff-but he forgot almost everything we told him we wanted. When our entree arrived, I asked him about our appetizer and told him that we no longer needed it since our meal had arrived. He said no problem, then a few moments later emerged with our appetizer saying “it was on him, but shrimp takes a while”….the fajitas we ordered included shrimp and came out before our shrimp appetizer so that excuse was unneeded and silly. We had already waited longer than we should have for the food, they clearly dropped the ball. The service was slow, food was bland, the fajita meat was rubbery and could use some better presentation coming from such a nice restaurant atmosphere. Maybe we just caught them on an off day, but I had higher hopes for this place.
Uncle Julio’s in Katy used to be my favorite Tex-Mex spot. I loved their chips and salsa, and the steak tacos were always my go-to. That’s why I was really disappointed when the Katy location closed. You could tell business was slow there, since even on weekends during peak hours it was never that crowded. After it closed, I tried different Tex-Mex restaurants around the area, but they were just okay. I knew there was still an Uncle Julio’s in Spring, TX, but I never went because it’s almost an hour drive on Loop 99, and the tolls are expensive. Last June, I had a concert in The Woodlands, so I finally had a chance to stop by on the way, and I was excited to return. Unfortunately, the experience was pretty bad. When I arrived, there was no host, so I ended up seating myself in the bar area. The bartender took my order quickly and brought chips, which were as tasty as I remembered. But the tacos were disappointing. I ordered three steak tacos, and the portions were much smaller than I remembered—back in Katy, two tacos were enough because they were bigger and better quality. The cheese was also different; they used to serve a really good yellow cheese, but now it seemed like a generic white-and-yellow blend you’d find at the grocery store. I didn’t like it at all. On top of that, the bartender was rarely around, took a long time to bring me more chips and salsa, and even longer to bring the check. Now I can see why the Katy location failed and why this one seems to be struggling too. It feels understaffed and the food quality has gone downhill. It’s such a shame because I used to love this place, but after this visit, I won’t be returning.
Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. We were there on a Saturday at 7pm and place was about 1/4 full. Server was nice but slow, and forgot a few things. The food left much to be desired, but the prices are high. The drinks have always been on the weak side and not very good. So many better places around.
There was no host, my waitress got my drink order wrong, it was water with lemon(which took 15 minutes to get anyway) and then proceeded to hand me the alcoholic drink my husband ordered (I'm obviously pregnant). My food was undercooked, burnt, and cold at the same time. I noticed all the waitresses were taking turns making the tortillas, which were cold and crumbling, and the food was an average of $20 and you had to pay more to get the full plate pictured.
Super disappointing. My husband and I came for an early dinner. Walked in and no one was at the host stand. We waited for over 5 minutes and finally flagged down a server to seat us. Another 12 minutes to get water. Drinks, (just margaritas, nothing crazy)took another 10 minutes. The queso we ordered was terrible. Our server, who never introduced themselves by name was nice, but inefficient. We decided to just close out and it took another 15 minutes to get the check and leave. At no point did we see a manager anywhere in the building. When we left the host stand was still empty with people waiting. I don't typically leave bad reviews but the one other time we came, both the service and food were better. Seems like it has gone way down hill.
First time visiting and I left super disappointed. The food was bland across the board with absolutely no flavor. The white queso tasted like it came straight out of a can. The chicken fajitas were shockingly fatty, so much fat that it felt like the cooks didn’t care at all, and on top of that, they had no flavor. Even the flour tortillas were disappointing, the same size as corn tortillas.
Salsa tastes very sour for some reason. No green salsa, no hotter salsa. Chips filled with oil taste. Was hoping it be better

Extremely overpriced for what you get. All flour tortillas were raw/undercooked. I also ordered corn torillas but they kept forgetting even after asking twice. I ordered the grilled vegetable fajitas, I only got 3 pieces of mushrooms and 2 pieces of zucchini. The rest was just undercooked onions…. The rice was hard, the beans flavorless. I strongly recommend El Rodeo nearby, they have better food and prices.
Its with great sadness that I have to write this review. I order from them weekly sometimes twice a week and its usually the Beef Fajitas for 4 with bacon wrap shrimp, They really give you a Huge spread with this, this Saturday we had company and I placed my order, after picking it up and getting it home we were quite disappointed, the beef was so well done it was not fit for dog food, this is the third picture of the large pile of fajitas, Now, did I mention we had dinner guests? So we had to do something different for dinner after discovering the condition of the food. So Sunday I take the large platter of over cooked uneaten fajitas up to the restaurant and ask to see a manager, after waiting about 15 mins I decide to have a Blackberry Margarita (amazing) while sitting there I asked the Bartender what to do about the predicament of the Fajitas, she says not a problem I will take care of it so I say great but instead of the fajitas for 4 with bacon wrap shrimp (130 ish dollars) I say hey its just for my wife and myself tonight just give me the Filet Mignon Fajitas for Two a 60ish dollar dish, Bartender ask how would I like it prepared, I inform her Rare. Food comes out I finish drink and go home and note on the way out the door that the bag felt a bit on the light side. I unpack the bag at home and can not believe what I'm seeing! They have now down graded me from Fajitas for 4 to Filet Mignon Fajitas for 1 a 30ish dollar dish and if that's not bad enough the meat is well done 50% on one side and rare on the other. Seriously Disappointed!
“Poor-Mexican-food”, this restaurant has the greasiest food I’ve ever had. The entry-ships are reusable, super greasy, the rise was under-cooked, the tortillas for the fajitas were warmed up with grease, had to tell waiter to replace them, the after taste of everything in this restaurant is grease. The guajillo salsa had sugar, looked like someone try to save it. Not worth it…
The food was so very bland and portion size was small. Our server was also in her own world. Messed up our drinks order so many times. Wouldn't remember to get us water after asking 4-5 times. Did not know the menu very well for substitution or modifications. Will not go back here again.
This place is a no. Used to be good in the past, but today the chips tasted like they used old oil or the oil was rancid. The taco meat was greasy and the salsa was not good. There wasn't anyone at the hostess stand to greet and the whole vibe was off.
Server was amazing. Bartender was wonderful and the drinks were great. The food could not have been worse. The rice was crispy- the beans were disgusting. The food was over-salted (and I love salty food). It tastes like when their food sits, like beans, they rehydrate them with a salty solution like broth. Over time that becomes way too salty. Ruined the meal. Food was nearly inedible, and given the premium price that is unacceptable.
Update: as of Friday the 4th of September. We order on Uber eats, they completely screwed up a 60.00$ order. Not only did they not read the order but... The General manger, gave us 25$ credit that we don’t plan on using. His name is Jason Paula (he originally ask if we like him to remake the order. Well NO we had order it the night before. That day when we talk to him, we had family dinner! I got food poisoning! I had to go to the ER to get zofran So recap 1 60.00 food order + ER co pay 100$ + co pay for zofran (15$) The food was great price was a bit high. Service was decent!!’
Uncle Julio’s on kuykendhal what happened to you?! The cilantro rice ooh so bad, the queso why why did you change it? It used to be so good. Now it’s gluey and waxy and not a good flavor, it’s so bad! The refried beans better than last time but still barely edible. Those chips, please for the love of god change that fry oil they were so bitter! This was the third time in a row we’ve had a terrible meal experience and sadly that’s it for us we will not be trying again. It’s really sad because when one wants queso you used to have the best in the area. Now it’s like ball park nacho sauce. We could polish off a whole large before the food arrived. Not now. We didn’t even eat a quarter of it. It’s that bad. We had hoped getting a fresh batch of chips would help but nope that oil is so nasty! Bitter bitter. What on earth happened to y’all? Sad. Really sad.
Worst service and experience at a restaurant I’ve ever had. The wait for our food seemed like it took longer than it should but that’s nothing compared to how long we waited on our bill. We were a larger group but informed them up front that we’d like to split checks and ordered accordingly. Well after being finished with our food, we asked for the checks and ended up waiting an additional 45 mins. No one apologized or made any effort to alleviate our frustrations. Initially we were surprised that on a Saturday night they could accommodate our group for dinner but now I get it! The food isn’t worth the frustration and I’ll never be back to this location.
I will preface this by saying, this place used to be really good. I’m not sure what happened in the last few years, but it’s gone downhill. Actually downhill is a nice way of describing it. It actually has faceplanted on the concrete. I’m not sure if it’s the change in ownership, or management is the cause. Whatever it is this place is TERRIBLE. The menu has been downsized to the point it all fits on one card. I went about a year ago and it was half decent. Not like It was in years past, but still tolerable. I went today and man! This was the worst “Tex Mex” I’ve ever had. LITERALLY!!!!! The queso was cold and watery. The server gave me a bowl only filled half way with broken cold chips. I ordered fajita soft tacos and damn near threw up eating the first one. The fajita was more like pot roast. Or at least it tasted like it. On top of that it was cold with no flavor, and the tortillas they were served on were super small and hard. I have never in my life tasted anything like that. The fact that they served me that in good conscience is insane. The service was mediocre as well. The sever was hardly available. The manager was doing nothing but walking around on her phone. If I could I’d give this place negative stars. Sad to see cause it used to be a good place to eat. If the owners and management aren’t carful this place will lose business to the point it may close. Just an all around terrible experience. There are waaaaayyy better places to eat Tex Mex in Houston and the surrounding areas.
If I could give this place a zero Stars i would. The food was not good. Very bland and their pickled onion is very overpowering on almost everything. The water jar was filthy and clearly had food debris floating in it. The waitress was horrible took her 20 minutes just to get us a drink and multiple children running around our table screaming in the bar area. We will not go back.. Update.. Within 20 minuets of leaving this placw we all got sick!!
I was honestly shocked at how absent the service was at Uncle Julio’s. Our waiter must’ve walked past our table a dozen times and never once stopped to check on us. I sat there staring at my empty drink for 9 minutes and 20 seconds — yes, I counted — while he just kept circling the room like we were invisible. Now don’t get me wrong, the food itself was great — delicious, fresh, and absolutely worth the hype. But what’s the point of good food if the service makes you feel like you’re bothering them just by existing? On top of that, the portion of rice was disappointingly small, and the beans along with the sweet tea I ordered weren’t sweet at all, which really took away from the overall meal. Uncle Julio’s really needs to step up their service — and their sides — because great food shouldn’t have to suffer from such lousy attention and underwhelming details. AVOID the waiter that is posted in the photos below!👇 No tip was provided to this hooligan.
We saw this restaurant on TikTok because of the chocolate piñata dessert and decided to give it a try. While the staff was friendly and attentive, we could not have been more disappointed with our food. We ordered the combo fajitas for two and it came out within minutes - I mean, shockingly fast, 6 minutes tops. The chicken was extremely fatty and fully skinned like they didn’t even bother to trim it at all. The beef was not only overcooked, it was rubbery and extremely watery. In fact, the entire fajita mix was overly moist sitting in liquid which we found very odd. Once we tasted the meat, it became more clear. It 100% tasted like meat that was previously cooked, probably even frozen, then placed in a microwave with liquid for reheating. This also explains how quickly our meal came out. The meal was completely inedible. Maybe this used to be a great Mexican restaurant, but we will never return. The fact that the parking lot was practically empty, and we were immediately seated on a Sunday after church should have been our first clue!
I recently visited Uncle Julio’s in Spring, Texas, with a 7 PM reservation, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. Upon arrival, I waited at the host stand for about eight minutes without any acknowledgment. When we were finally seated, the chips arrived with a strange sweet syrup on them, and even after they replaced them, the issue persisted. The manager eventually provided fresh chips, but by then, the damage was done. We also ordered the Chocolate Piñata for $35, and the overall quality was lacking. The fruit, including strawberries and pineapples, tasted off, likely due to being frozen and thawed, and the churros had a strange aftertaste as well. In total, my bill came to $132, and given the experience, I didn’t feel it was justified. I did leave a tip, though the waiter was excellent and even trained a colleague well. Ultimately, the poor quality of the food and the initial service left a bad impression.
If I could give 0 stars I would! The location is beautiful and very well maintained. The food and service are horrible. The meat has no flavor or seasoning only char grilling marks that are too burnt on certain pieces. The salsa and my sprite were the best things I had for sure! The servers are attentive at first but once your food arrives they don’t return which is weird because it wasn’t busy when my family went. Lastly the portions are a but small for what the price is I don’t mind paying when I get one or both of these two good food or big portions. You will get neither here dont waist your money Taco Bell has better food!
Warning! Food poisoning. My husband got the Crab & Shrimp Enchiladas and became very ill shortly after. To top it off, the carne asada’s were overcooked. We ordered rare/medium rare and received well done. The chips were stale and the beans tasted like paste. We have eaten at locations on the east coast (Virginia) for years while stationed there, and most recently the Katy location, and have never experienced this. The food literally made my husband sick and he is a retired combat Marine with an iron stomach. Patrons beware!! Side note: this was an Ubereats delivery order.
Save your money and go to Gringo's, Lupe's or Los Cucos. Went on a Tuesday night with family. No hostess, same lady who finally sat us down was our waitress, if you even considered her a waitress. Ordered a queso never got, food came out before, just canceled it. Some of the fajitas cuts were poor cuts chewy. Messed up on my bar drink didn't even bother having her correcting it. I see there are some good experiences but for Tuesday night she should have been on point with service, mind you there were maybe 12 tables occupied with 4 other waiters moving around. She had maybe 3-4 other tables from what I saw. I still left a tip after that experience. But I don't see this place making and ever coming back that's for sure. Nice little notice at the front door to top everything off.
