Great semi dive bar! Rarely overcrowded. Way off the beaten path in the Sugarloaf area of Big Bear. Prices are ok. Food ok.. Dont expect a lot and you will be great ! Its a good size place and has a pool table. People are friendly! Its one of the few places on the east side of Big Bear. Food-wise, the menu sticks to classic dive bar fare that won’t win awards but won’t let you down either. The BTA sandwich (because they were out of avocado) turned out to be an unintentional masterpiece. The French fries and ketchup? Honestly, it’s a toss-up which was better – they were both oddly satisfying in that “I’m one drink away from declaring this the best meal I’ve ever had” kind of way. In conclusion, Kallen’s is exactly what it promises to be: a rowdy, unpretentious dive bar with well-poured drinks, surprisingly entertaining food, and a karaoke scene that might just make you a legend (or at least a meme). We’ll definitely be back – maybe next time we’ll even add a pool game to our repertoire.

This place is more than a bar; it’s an experience. Our server? A hybrid of bartender/karaoke artist/pool shark/magician who somehow kept our glasses full, our spirits high, and the vibe immaculate. Seriously, it felt like they had a secret cloning device because they were everywhere at once. The drinks? Top-tier dive bar quality. We stuck with bourbon and vodka because, well, we’re here for a good time, not a fancy wine pairing. The karaoke setup brought the kind of unfiltered joy that only a slightly tipsy crowd of locals can provide. Pro tip: If you’re hesitant to sing, just cue up “Tequila.” It’s got one word, and you’ve got this. This gem of a suggestion comes from the local who insisted in singing this dedicated song to us. This was a little bar and grill outside the more touristy area of Big Bear lake. I’d considered this a dive bar, but they do serve food that was actually pretty good. The service was nice and our bartender/server was friendly and accommodating. It wasn’t too crowded, but they have plenty of seating as well as TVs and a pool table. The liquor selection is pretty limited, but they do have a range of beers, including some local brews. The food was pretty good too. We had the Caland burger and the hot national Asheville chicken sandwich. I like the burger better, but they were both pretty tasty. They ran out of fries, but made salads instead, which was a lot better than I expected. Overall, if you want to get away from the touristy part of Big Bear, make your way over here for ann off the strip dive bar experience.

Stopped in for the first time today. There were five of us. we sat on the upper level. service was a bit slow but the food is excellent. The burgers are tasty and my brother‘s club sandwich looked wonderful. he said it was wonderful. Just a nice, comfortable place to sit and chill for a while, the prices are moderate. They have Coors light and 805 on tap. We will be back soon.

I ordered a regular hamburger with fries to go. It was so busy at 7:30 p.m. It took forever to get my food. My fries were soggy, and my burger was mediocre. I think it’s best for dine in.

Man, I hate leaving bad reviews but the food at this place is just not good. I had a decent burger there one time, but this time they had no burger patties. I got the Chicken cheesesteak and the cheese ruined it, plus it was on a hot dog rather than a hoagie. Last time we ate there, they didn’t have any of the breads for the sandwiches, which really sucked because I wanted a sandwich. Lol We brought our own waters in this time because theirs is gross and so is the iced tea. The bartender/ server was nice enough to us, but she’s definitely a little rough around the edges. We only went back to Kallans because we got to Big Bear a little late, so most places were closing or closed. It seems like a decent place to hang out, shoot some pool and have a few beers. This will be the last time we ever go there.

Hit or miss depending on the bartender. Go in almost everyday and Erin and Christine are awesome. Got a bartender tonight thought that was rude enough i left without placing an order. Wouldn't go anymore if it wasnt next to my work

Regular, in everyday Around 4pm. Whoever was working tonight around 730 was reason enough for me to stop coming in. RUDE Ive tried most things on the menu at this point. Food is shit. Russian roulette on whether its friendly service or not

Food taste like shit. Maybe two to three things on the menu that are edible. Only things they had going for them were 1) only bar in sugarloaf 2) friendly service Got a nightmare of a bartender tonight though that makes it worth driving to Sandys or Murray's. Stay away ❌️🚫⁉️

If you are not a local do not go to this bar. I was intimidated to leave by locals and threatened. A woman who I had talked to told of her personal sufferings. Locals made fun of her and me. I’ve never been treated this way by any establishment. I will never go there again and I would warn anyone going there to be careful. It was disgusting behavior the people there were laughing at her plight.

We are part-time up the mountain. My husband suffered a psychotic break and was obviously in distress when he walked into this bar. They served him $140 of alcohol and then let him drive home. Luckily no one was killed but his car no longer runs and he had alcohol poisoning at .31. I remember when this neighborhood was really focused on family. I would avoid any place that knowingly over serves drunks and puts them back on the road. Very reckless
