Nice food. First time here. Would recommend to friends. It was very cold there, just a little uncomfortable to enjoy our food.
This is a favorite of mine. While other Syracuse BBQ spots may receive more hype, this one has better flavor and better customer service than others. Food is hot and fresh. The barbecue is smoky and sweet and on summer days, can be smelled all around for blocks. The service is friendly and fast.
Excellent BBQ Platter, and the sides were really solid. Which in my opinion gives them a solid 4 stars. The full 5 was for the Hog and Heifer Burger. It was possibly one of the best burgers I've had in as long as I can remember! Great service, comfortable atmosphere, and a great selection of delicious food and drinks!
Amazing food. The place was filled with what seemed like hundreds of bikers. I would say as good, if not better than dinosaur. I had the pulled pork and my girlfriend had the philly, we loved both. Prices are perfect. Oh!! And every beer you can imagine is on tap. HIGHLY recommend.
I have only had the smoked turkey dinner here. I recommend it. It comes with mashed potatoes, roasted corn, gravy and a roll. It's a good-sized portion and it tastes great. That was my Thanksgiving dinner. I've been back three times since.
Delicious food, enjoyed a turkey wrap and shared chips with beef, salsa, sour cream. It was very relaxed, comfortable evening. Highly recommend. We'll definitely return soon. Seating inside and outdoor. Great service.
Great place for authentic BBQ. The corn bread is a must as are the collards. Pulled pork was tender but my personal preference is for a little more smoke. Had a nice chat with Nick (the manager). He’s truly interested in his customers. Great selection of beers, attentive severs and a great vibe.
Ordered BBQ combo: Ribs/Chicken/Pulled - Delicious, its dinner tonight AND lunch tomorrow, no way I can finish all this. Lizard and Ray Bros are the best BBQ I've had upstate.
Holly and crew were incredible. I have visited this establishment twice this month. Me and my friend was there on Sunday to watch the Bills game. Unfortunately, the bills lost. Everything else was GREAT. The food, service, and the staff were wonderful.
Excellent food, service and outdoor seating. The portions were very generous for the price point. My fianceé and I spent around $75 after tip for 2 entrees, an appetizer and 2 drinks - highly recommend!
I hosted a large party at my house two weekends ago and couldn't have done it without the amazing staff and food from Limp Lizard. The food was outstanding and they provided me with all of the utensils, extra sauces etc that I needed. They even loaded it into my car with a smile and gave helpful instruction for setup. Can't say enough great things about this place, their staff, and their food. THANK YOU!
Limp Lizard is a wing lover's paradise with unbeatable value. Their wings and sides, like the mac and cheese and greens, are a flavor explosion. For around 12 bucks, you get wings and two sides, a steal compared to other places. The staff is fantastic—attentive, patient, and accommodating, even when we called last minute (10 mins before closing) they let us order and pick it up. Plus, their parking lot events in the hot months are a blast. Overall, Limp Lizard delivers on great food, service, and fun. You have to try their wings, some of the best in the Syracuse area!
Very nice and cozy place. It was over 90 degrees when we went there, but was nice and cool inside, although there were a bunch of sun-lovers on the ample outside area, listening to live music. The food is great, portions are large, service is great and the prices are good. Lots of beers on tap, so we had s great time.
I've only been here maybe 3 times. Each time it's been great! The server was super attentive and checked with us after the meal was brought, and even after that and refilled drinks without asking. The nachos are huge and so good! The hellfire chili is so meaty so if you love thick and best definitely get that. It wasn't super spicy for me but I like spicy food. We're definitely going to come back. Even my 4 year old loved it and he got the burger and fries.
I purchased the beef brisket and it was amazing. 10/10 melt in your mouth, incredible flavors and texture. The Mac and cheese needed some work, came out cold and a little oily. Fries were excellently made! The service was amazing. Our waitress was prompt, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Would recommend this restaurant and will be returning anytime I am in Syracuse.
I got ribs, brisket, corn bread, collard greens, and fried pickles. The ribs were delicious. But the brisket, cornbread, and collard greens were the best I've had in my life. The brisket was the juiciest, the cornbread was moist and flavorful, and they have the most interesting collard greens. Almost perfect. I have to give this order 4.9999999/5 only because they forgot to include the dipping sauce for the fried pickles, and I was really looking forward to that. Definitely ordering from here again next time. Highly recommended.
Great food but the real prize was the absolutely exceptional service. I haven’t had a server this great in years- Xavier, you deserve a raise! He made the experience even better than I ever could have expected. Food was also fantastic! What a great experience, we will definitely be back.
Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. We started with honey garlic bbq smoked wings. Absolutely delicious, perfect amount of char, smoke, and sauce. I ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich, with fries . Genuine southern atmosphere. Best Carolina pulled pork bbq ever, fries were perfect. Crisp, light and clean. Second visit; I was blown away.My Cuban sandwich was delicious. fresh tomato cucumber salad.Bbq beans were delicious. Hog and heifer sandwich is exactly what you want. Food is always hot.
Well ya see, Had nothin going on for Thanksgiving, So I called down to Western lights to see if I could still order up some dinners, Sure the polite lady says, I said, great, I'll order 4. All good. Got to the Lizard at 11.00 Am for pick up. The atmosphere was terrific, as I'm not big on people, the place was empty. The place itself is actually me. But getting back to the service it was great with no lines as I was expecting. Very well organized. Very good food as usual, Very goog atmosphere and friendly staff for running around like smoked chickens with their things cut off !! I guess I could have said heads cut off. Either one would suck !! 🐔✂🍗
We travel 3 hours away a few times a year with the intent to eat here each time. Absolutely best BBQ I have ever had. Their smoked wings can't be beat. They have only added to their amazing food with carrying some of the best beer in the WORLD! Alchemist Brewing is some of the hardest beer to acquire unless you live in Vermont. Limp has it!
The food was excellent. The atmosphere was perfect. It was a very nice place. I would not mind coming back again.
The food was good overall. The service was a little slow but not bad. We were seated near the bar, and it was definitely a louder crowd at the time. Prices and portions sizes seemed reasonable.
Food is amazing and staff is even better. I can’t say enough good things about the Onondaga boulevard location.
Super friendly service from the minute you walk in. Our waittress, Ashley, was attentive and ensured that our drinks were good and the food came quickly. The food was delicious and done perfectly. The portions were huge. Exactly what you need from a barbecue joint. Highly recommended! Update: still good, I'm glad that I returned when I visited Syracuse.
The ingredients tasted vibrant and fresh. The flavors really stood out.
Really polite waitress that I couldn't say enough good things about and the food was out of this world.
Got takeout, some of the best BBQ I’ve had in a while, way better than Dino-BBQ. Beans, coleslaw, and smoked wings were all a 10/10.
Called in an order for pickup. I ordered the burrito with brisket and added sour cream and guacamole. The sides, collard greens and beans with rice were tasty. The food was ready quickly, hot and delicious. The staff were pleasant and professional. If I'd had the time that day, I'd have stayed to hang out at the bar or sat down at one of their nice tables to eat. The atmosphere is pleasant and inviting. If you haven't tried them out, do yourself a favor and make the trip, I think you'll be glad you did.
Always a great experience eating here. Buffalo wrap was 10/10, fresh batch of fries, and our server Xavier took great care of us. Our waters were never empty, he brought our food out all at once, and we never waited too long for him to come back to our table. We’ll be back!
Amazing experience, service was amazing and when we got there we realized they had nfl gameday deals, $7 for boneless wings that were genuinely over a pound. Atmosphere is great as well!!
We ordered our food to go but the atmosphere while we waited was typical sports bar/bbq joint. Staff were friendly and helpful while we figured out our order. The ribs were tender and flavorful without being too smokey. The brisket and smoked wings were perfectly cooked and the honey garlic sauce was wonderful. The star of the show for us was the southwest egg rolls - absolutely perfectly crispy and just stuffed with pork, black beans, cheese and more!
We searched and searched for a cool restaurant that was in our price range while visiting the Syracuse area and settled on this one. We were glad we did. This was an awesome restaurant. We enjoyed the western look both outside and inside. I thought it had a western sports bar feel to it. Both of our meals were excellent. And the prices for the portion I thought were completely fair. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be dropping by the Limp Lizard!!
I got catering for 125 people and it was absolutely perfect. They had everything set up perfectly on time and were extremely professional and kind. Everyone was talking about how good the food was and we had so much leftovers to share. Very generous portions. I will definitely use them again for catering in the future.
Amazing! From the delicious BBQ aroma when we walked in the door, to the moment we left, I was impressed. Our server was attentive (even though she was quite busy), the portions were generous, and our meals were delicious. Two of us had catfish strips with 2 sides, and the others had BBQ poutine, the Big Nasty, and 2 kids meals. Saving over 3% by paying cash is a nice perk too. I highly recommend this restaurant!
The first time I ordered the brisket sandwich it was outstanding, but the second time it was dry and tough. So, they can be inconsistent. Not so with the barbecued half chicken which is always excellent. The sides are good especially the corn bread and baked beans, and the service is fast and friendly. UPDATE-1: Ordered a combination plate with pulled pork, 1/2 chicken, and ribs, plus two sides of baked beans. I hadn't had their ribs in quite a while and they were terrific. We took home the half chicken and pulled pork for another meal.
I have eaten at Limp Lizard twice; once about 7 years ago, and at this location for the first time...both times with my brother and sister in law (this is a place they frequent) while visiting from North Carolina. Both visits were excellent experiences for us; fast and friendly service, a fun atmosphere, and the food can't be beat! We started with the "Sloppy" fries appetizer, and mango mojitos; I had the burnt ends with sweet potato fries and mashed with gravy, sis had the HUGE buffalo wings, and brother had the buffalo chicken wrap. The drinks were delicious, as were the generous food portions...love that barbecue!! I highly recommend Limp Lizard, and they will be a definite "must go to" on my next trip to Syracuse!
First time visiting my bonus daughter at work. The atmosphere was nice. Sports playing on all the t.v.'s people sitting around the bar enjoying drinks and some patrons eating outside at tables. The food was good. The Catfish strips and BBQ ribs was amazing🤌🏾. The veggies has a smoke taste to them, not preferred but was pretty good. Will visit this place again.
I ordered food for pickup. The order was accurate and ready exactly on time. The food is delicious and you get nice portion sizes in the family bundles compared to other BBQ places in Syracuse. The staff are very friendly too. I found they lacked knowledge on food allergies, so you need to be careful if you have one. Just know the questions you need to ask.
Party of 9(adults and children) at 2 tables on deck. Waitress kept up with correct orders and refills. Great sense of humor. She kept up with her other tables too. Food was above great. Good size portions. I was a visitor, but my children and grandchildren have visited this place before and recommended it. I would return my next visit.
Server was great. All food really tasty. The meats were beautifully bbq'd. Unfortunately, everything that came out of steam table wasn't hot, barley warm...Chili, beans. Etc. Disappointing and potentially hazardous. Gave it another shot. All side dishes excellent! Too bad the brisket was tough and no where near tender. No doubt whoever sliced it knew
Been there a few times. Really like there tacos you can choose pulled pork and possibly brisket. Havent been there in awhile so menu could have changed over time. Great selection of beers on tap. Full cocktail bar an assortment of liquors for mixed drinks. Recommend the baked beans for your side dish. There BBQ sauce is good. Dont remember what sides are really on the menu.
Good price for wings during football games...
Checked out the cans, clams, and jams event that's held every Wednesday. They offer specials on clams ($10/doz) and particular cans of beer and seltzers along with live music. I had 2 dozen clams, that came out quickly with butter for dipping, and tasted amazing. Sat outside most of the night, plenty of seating on picnic tables and the outdoor porch area.
Easy to order online. Food was ready to go at appointment time. Service was friendly. Food was good, chicken very dry but love the seasoning. Brisket good. Would order again.
Spent 4th of July weekend in the area and ordered from this restaurant. We had the brisket, smoked wings and burgers. The flavor was nice for the wings however they were a bit overcooked (dry). The burgers were good, no ketchup or mustard though. The brisket was super soft, melt in your mouth but the flavor was lacking big time. We had to douse it in barbecue sauce. All and all not bad just perhaps a bad night…I’d give them another shot.
Forgot to take a picture of my food! Good spot with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating we ended up here because Dinosaur BBQ wouldn’t let us book a large party reservation. I got the chicken egg roll appetizer 👍👍👍 we also got a 3 meat platter to share it had chicken wings ( Blueberry Jalapeño flvr ) ribs and brisket the wings and the ribs were really good but the brisket wasn’t that great. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area that’s looking for BBQ food especially if you have a large group
Hit the Lizard before a Cody Jinks concert at the Amphitheater ( 1st time here). Good bbq. Had the 3 meat combo, ribs, brisket, and burnt ends. Mac n cheese and corn bread was also very good. Tori, was our waitress. Super nice and friendly, and polite. Food came out is a timely fashion
My hubby and I ate here for the first time today (Onondaga Blvd). The outside has a rustic exterior so was expecting the same inside. Not super impressed with the decor and seating, but was here more for the food😄 I had the pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw and sweet potato fries. Hubby had the brisket sandwich with cole slaw and red skin potato salad. Service was very fast! Food was delicious😋 The only negatives - Cole slaw tasted kind of "off". Not sure what ingredient was in it that made it so off-putting (maybe vinegar???)🤷🏻♀️ Also, the brisket was not "melt-in-your-mouth" tender. However, it was very good! Will definitely eat here again, but will pass on the cole slaw. There were several sides to choose from so that won't be a problem. Overall, highly recommend Limp Lizard for yummy food. P. S. Restaurant is a bit chilly so bring a sweater if you tend to get cold easily.
I got the 2-way dinner and chose the brisket and the 1/3 ribs. The ribs were good, the brisket however was very dry. I found myself taking sips of water while eating the brisket so I can chew it. My girlfriend got the tacos, no issue there, tasted pretty good. All in all, it was okay at best, I'd avoid the brisket. Service was quick.
Went for lunch the pork sandwich was tasty but cold the potatoes salad wasn’t good Mac cheese was just ok and cold my son cornbread was very dry . Our waitress was very friendly and polite
Our first time eating at this location after trying their BBQ during the sangria crawl. The waitress was very pleasant and the food same out quick and hot. Three stars because food was average, good, but missing some key element, slightly bland. It needed maybe salt or the tang that I'm used to BBQ having. I was however, VERY HAPPY, to see that this location charges the credit card fee the proper way. They had the menu priced at the credit card rate and the receipt had the price with the cash discount. Very very nice to see this, so far they are the only restaurant in Syracuse that does this in line with the law! I will definitely give them another try, perhaps at the Liverpool location. Thank you Limp Lizard for doing right by your customers!
Was here on Friday and miss our waitress. Heard she had been fired. One of the main reasons we come here is because of the friendly employees. Last week we had a new employee that was very slow and not attentive to the customers. We waited over half hour to get our food and it was cold and not cooked the way we ordered it. We dine there at least once or twice a week and have been for a couple years now. It would be a shame if we had to find a new place to go.
This is my second time getting takeout from here. While the food is decent, there are two things that need fixing. 1. The cornbread is more like cake - very thick and sweet. More of a dessert. Would not recommend. 2. The main frustration is the person who took our order over the phone. She was very rushed in trying to put my order in and would not leave room to answer a couple questions about what I was ordering. As well, I asked for Guac and she left it off the order because she kept trying to rush everything instead of actually taking my order. She really needs better training. A wrong order really brings down the meal.
This was our first visit here and it was good :) we got the pick 3 platter with the ribs, brisket and pulled pork. Red skinned potato salad, sauteed collard greens and mac n cheese as sides. The ribs, cornbread (came with the meal) and greens were the winners! Waiter was excellent and the atmosphere was pretty chill. I'd definitely come back for a few drinks and live music :)
The brisket we had was so dried out and didn't have a smoke ring like other smoke houses have. Ive eaten here before and the food was OK. I was not satisfied but we took it to go and I didn't have the time to go back and complain.
Ordered chicken and ribs. The ribs were dry unfortunately as I had them before and they were amazing. But to their credit I came in an hour before closing and was the only customer there so maybe it was left overs. Paid $80 between my friend and myself so it was a little disappointing that my food wasn't fresher.
Must have been an off day for them. We enjoy their food trucks when they're at downtown festivals. But, brisket was tough and my wife's chicken was "okay," where the glaze was good, but she wished there were more french fries. Our waitress was an absolute trooper, but workloads amongst the waitstaff seemed unevenly distributed -- she was running around constantly while others didn't seem to have the same number of customers. We'll stick to the food truck.
Tonights experience was awful. I ordered the pull pork and as you can see from the picture I added, a majority of the portion was this large piece and mostly fat. The roasted corn did not taste good at all and I’ve had better tasting mac and cheese from a box. The other meat I had was the 1/2 chicken. The appearance looked great but it was still pink inside. The second meal ordered was the chili. It was nothing more than seasoned taco meat and grease. It didn’t even have a bean in it. I gave an extra star because 25 minutes for take out was pretty reasonable but for a Saturday night, I was definitely expecting more.
Stopped after the zoo, it wasn't bad but not great. Ribs were okay but very sweet. Wife got Nashville hot chicken sandwich but was very wet and also sweet (think was a sweet buffalo sandwich or something maybe?). Cornbread was really good.
Got Nashville chicken which was really good but bbq was pretty ordinary. I was told it's better than dinosaur bbq and I just didn't see the hype in it. Brisket, pulled pork and chicken seems like the same thing you can get everywhere so it wasn't anything to rave about. One flavor of sauce at the table instead of different varieties. Had high hopes. I'll try again another time maybe. Kids burger was pretty small vs size of bun. We were some of the first ones there for lunch so maybe that's why, but I figured it would be better
I’ve been to limp lizards a couple of times and honestly this may be my last time for awhile. The food is honestly super mid. It lacks flavor in some of their dishes such as the collard greens, the mac and cheese is incredibly sad looking and taste isn’t cheesy. The french onion soup just tasted like beef broth no onion flavor. The ribs were super fatty. Service was extremely slow last night when we went. The only thing we really enjoyed were the soft pretzels.
I just bought 2 lbs of brisket. For those who are unaware, there are 2 parts to a brisket...the flat and the point. The flat is the lean cut, the point is the fatty, juicier part. All I got was the flat, and it had zero smoke. It's dry and grey so it was either microwaved at some point, or cooked on high heat to quickly get it done with rather than being cooked low and slow like brisket is supposed to be. I used to say that Limp Lizard is WAY better than Dinosaur BBQ, which is a very unpopular opinion in Syracuse. But now I have to say Ranchers Choice is my go to. The staff at Limp Lizard are always nice, but having been trained by a Texan in the proper preparation, smoking, carving and serving of a brisket, I cannot risk spending my money here any further. We had a good run.
The service was great. Portion sizes are great. The food not so great. My chicken was very very dry. The ribs was nothing to rave about. Out of all the sides we had (potato salad, greens, red skin mashed potatoes, grilled corn and baked beans) only, the baked beans had good flavor. In all fairness, I must say the catfish strips appetizer was on point. I give this place 2 and a half stars.
Used to be so much better. All 4 meals for our party tasted like reheated food from yesterday. Meals came out in about 5 minutes… nothing made to order. Such a shame, I used to really like this place. Lunch, Sunday apr 13th. May want to retrain the cooks.
Disgusting offerings honestly No wonder you had to close a location You and Jeff at angry garlic are why Roadfathers is doing great. You have cut all your offerings down to nothing and kept the price the same.
Visited the limp lizard 2 weeks ago while in town for the night and would never visit again. Ribs were thin with no meat in sight, the brisket was 100 percent reheated. Paper thin, dry and tough, the sides were alright just mid the smoked turkey was good though. But to top it off the food gave my mother and I food poisoning, we ate the same thing and did not leave the bathroom for 12 hours. My nephew ate a completely different meal and was not sick, that was the only thing we ate that day.. never again. Definitely not a place to get “Barbecue”
I got the burnt end sandwich and the meat was so hard I could hardly even chew it. Absolutely disgusting. Who ever put it together definitely knew it was no good. This is the third bad experience I have had there. Definitely not going back again.
Typically the food here is fantastic. Now maybe they happened to be understaffed I'm not sure. But we visited this location on Sunday. We got seated very quickly. We then patiently waited about 15 minutes or so. But unfortunately no one came over. Not to offer drinks. Not to say it will be a little bit of a wait. Unfortunately we came here a few months ago and we waited a long time then as well. So we left and went to the Liverpool location and everything was fantastic!
As a child I went here all the time, and I can’t believe how much they’ve let this place go. We arrived around 12 they didn’t open the doors until 12:15/12:20. We got in ordered our drinks and our food didn’t arrive until 1:40… we sent our order back twice and they still kept messing up our pulled pork sandwiches. The entire time I think I saw 3 plates go out and I saw the chef at the soda machine or talking to the bartender more than he was in the kitchen doing his job. I saw about 3 other people come in to ask where their food was as well. When we did receive some of our food it was burnt, I received the smallest corner of corn bread and it was completely mushy and gross. I’m shocked to see how this establishment is now being ran..
I got the big blue, the brisket was dry. My partner got the 3 platter all the meat was dry. The only good thing was the beans a fried green tomatoes. 60$ to have to go eat somewhere else. Never again
Very friendly staff. Chicken was extremely under cooked. I have been sick no for 3 days. Not sure how you can serve raw chicken and stay open!?
Very disappointed. Me and my family drove in from Buffalo, we ordered take out and the food was the toughest and coldest meat I’ve ever experienced. I think they gave us food that had been sitting for hours. We made the drive after experiencing their smoked wing at the Wing Fest, which were very good. I won’t be returning. Luckily we had to get back to Buffalo or I would of asked for my money back. PS why would you give someone a pan of cold food for $91 dollars 🤦🏼♂️
I went to eat lunch in liverpool restaurant a birthday meal with a bestie 9/1/24 I ordered a brisket rueben when I went to take a bite out of it I couldn't chew the meat in half to get a bite. it all pulled the sandwich half apart it was full of fat it had lines of fat Thru out the meat and about a 1/4inch of fat around all the meat on both halves of sandwich couldn't even pull meat apart to eat (so much fat) also had a strip of fat about 3inches long with no meat attached to it set on top it was disgusting so I tried to eat other halve the meat again full of fat and overcooked meat was hard couldn't even bite it.and it was a end burnt to black and no edible meat on the piece I usual like ends but this was ridiculous it also had a very small amount of saurkraut seemed like it was made of scraps that should have been tossed in garbage when sliced. I will allways remember this birthday meal as the WORST meal I ever bought for 20 dollars 💸 go elsewhere to eat because the cook here doesn't care what he serves you!!! I come to state fair ever year I don't live in this area of n.y. so this ruined my birthday meal. Had to eat fair food instead wich was better tasting sadly a very costly birthday for food
The atmosphere was cool. Was looking forward to BBQ but the brisket was bad, the pulled pork was alright, the mac and cheese was gross and the coleslaw was the worst coleslaw I’ve ever put in my mouth. The only good part of my meal was my root beer. Very disappointed.
Went for a party, left with food poisoning. Food was terrible, party space was small and cramped, service was terrible. At this point they should just close all locations down.
My order fell short of expectations. The brisket was overcooked and lacked a smoky flavor, the chicken in the wrap was dry, and the chicken tenders were overcooked. I will not be ordering again
Listen, I’ve been there 1000 times before but this time was different. Much different, too different even. Ordered the catfish dinner with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. A, catfish was somehow fried to perfection and so mushy that you couldn’t cut a bite to eat without smearing it across the plate. Fries were fries, Syscos flash frozen fries…I knew what to expect when I saw them. The coleslaw was dillweed heavy and somehow floral. Like I said, I’ve been there a thousand times before and this time was different. The atmosphere was unintentionally uninviting. There was a bar crowd that was very annoyed with our presence and couldn’t stop gawking at a couple people with tattoos and a Mexican kid just trying to celebrate his birthday with some bbq he knows and loves. Service was worth the $130 spent…but nothing else has me wanting to return to that particular location.
Poor food, salt potato's were hard and looked like they were several days olfy My husband's beef brisket was dry and no taste My daughter's meal was frickin disgusting and our Pepsi's were All Flat and had to be sent back Bill was over 100 dollars plus a top Terrible food and my son in law just went there today and said he will never go back there again! Said the food was terrible!!! I would advise if you want to have a nasty dinner, this is the place
