I Had An Amazing Waitress Named Veronica The Food Was Delicious The Drinks She Prepared For Us Was Out Of This World , I Will Definitely Be Going Back The Whole Experience Was Great 10/10

The menu is extensive. It's very vast. It has a lot of things on it and also can be modified. You can ask them to I add things or take things off. But please you will be overwhelmed. When you see the menu you will get paralysis by analysis. Can be a good thing but just take your time. I'll take a star off because they don't have paper menus because the menu is so large. You have to use your phone. I can see for some older people who can't manipulate technology like that. It could be a problem but the food is good. There are big portions so know that going in hot chocolate is huge. Just about everything is if you go for breakfast you probably won't need lunch. It might take you all the way into dinner unless you're a big eater

First of all, I read the reviews and got on the waitlist and we were seated right away by the most wonderful waiter. Saturday morning at 11:30 and the service was quick, food was gorgeous to look at, hot, fresh and delicious. My only suggestion was to turn the music down a little because it was hard to hear each other. Everything else was perfect. We drove 3 hours to take my 80 year old sister to brunch for her birthday and our waiter made her feel like she was the most special person in the room. We will definitely be coming back.

Great place to eat. Unique menu and good service.

This was my first visit and it was pretty impressive. It was actually hard to pick something out because almost everything sounded worthy of being ordered rather than something to quickly dismiss. The latte I had was big and well made. I ordered the shakshuka (12.99) as I’ve only had it once before and really enjoyed it. This one didn’t quite stack up to the other but was still very good in its own right. For a $1.00 I added a third egg. The toast that came with it, was really only toasted on one side, which made for a good “sandwich toast” if you like it crispy on both sides it might be worth asking for. The 2 hash browns for $3.00 were also very good. Probably the same frozen patty you get from McDonald’s but fried in fresher oil giving it a clear edge. Service was better than average breakfast service. It’s a busy place but things moved along at a good pace.

This place is a COMPLETE gem 💎 Our server Julia was an absolute sweetheart and made our time there hands down the best. (Husbands not even that upset I want to go every week 😂) 10/10 best of everything!!

First time experience exceeded our expectations!! Looking for amazing customer service, good prices and great food ? This is the best place to go,I bet you won't want to go anywhere else. Satisfying portions, delicious mimosas, fun presentation, great coffee and quick service. Also very entertaining decor. Highly recommend.

Tasty food, great service! Would highly recommend calling in to put yourself on a waitlist as soon as they are open, though. We called in at 8am on a Saturday and the wait was 11:45am. Another time, we called in at 9am and the wait was 2pm. I have not been disappointed with the food here and I usually try to get something different each time. The service is incredible as well. Would recommend: Irish Benny, Cocoa Puffs Latte, BYO Crepe, Westcott California Benny, Tin Can Breakfast Perogies.

My mother was looking for something different, something out of the box. She said she wanted an experience. I brought her to Rise N Shine Diner. The waitress was pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was great, and the food perfection. My mother is always looking for the perfect Eggs Benedict. She ordered the flight with three different choices. She chose the Grilled Shrimp Po'Boy, Irish Benny, and the Smoked Brisket Benny. I ordered the Shakshuka that was absolutely delicious. We had a very good time having breakfast. For a wonderful experience I highly recommend this restaurant!

By far the best restaurant that I have ever been to. The atmosphere is phenomenal! Music, conversations, laughter and smiles from everyone. All of the staff seems legitimately happy to be at work. Which can really be rare nowadays. The drinks are all a work of art. From alcoholic beverages to milkshakes and everything in between. They are jaw dropping. All of their food is next level. Full of flavor and large portions, whatever you order will not leave you disappointed. Live music on certain days and a beautiful patio for the warmer months. If you’re anywhere close to SYR, this is the place to be. Really, it’s worth a trip no matter where you’re from.

Best restaurant I have been to in a long time! Felt like special experience rather than just everyday dinning. Food was amazing but the salted carmel milkshake was amazing, and you can get it with breakfast! My husband also had the coffee flight. EVERYTHING was amazing. Can't wait to go back!!

M

Lots of good food, big menu selection, cool drink menu as well. trust me, you will want to call ahead and try to get seating arranged before you get there, because it could be hours if you just walk in. The restaurant is a bit compact, but the staff is super fast and friendly and the overall experience was quite good. lots of really cool meal selections even though I got something a bit boring by comparison. This place is definitely high on the list for locals and I can understand why. I would definitely go back again.

AMAZING and EXTENSIVE MENU!! This is the ultimate brunch place in Syracuse. Notable for all of western and Upstate NY. The long wait is completely worth it! coffee flights. mimosa flights are creative. Full bar. eggs Benedict flight is incredible. Wait staff is knowledgeable and recommends things with extensive knowledge of this restaurant. I wish this was where we live in Upstate NY Capital District!

Rise and Shine in Syracuse, NY, is a breakfast spot worth waking up for. This spot serves crazy twists on breakfast classics. They also serve lunch and dinner as well. If you don't know what to order, they have platters where you can select three options to try! I recommend their milkshakes to start off. Also, we had their poutine and loaded avocado toast, which was really good as well. They do have a wait list that fills up fast. To join the wait list, you will have to call early the day of. Rise and Shine is a must-visit for anyone craving a delicious start to their day in Syracuse.

This spot is dope! Visiting from Atlanta GA, this place fits the energy I like. Visiting Syracuse I didn't know what to expect on my visit. Rise N Shine has a big city feel & vibe to it. I had the Chicken n Waffle plate, wife had one of their many omelet options. Food & Drinks was really good! The people that work here were really friendly & we felt very welcome. 5 Stars. If you are from the city & like music while eating this place is great!

I've been waiting a long time to come and try this place. I was so excited hearing all of the feedback and how good it was. Plus every person I spoke to mention a different drink concoction that was out of this world. To my surprise they were spot on. It was more of a college vibe, being nestled in the middle of college town, which I wasn't super enthusiastic about. The food was tremendous. I like to try the flights of any type so it gives me a variety. I had the eggs Benedict flight consisting of an Irish Benedict a brisket Benedict and a po boy version. The Irish being my favorite out of the three. I also enjoyed a bloody Mary and ordered a Notorious RNS margherita. They are apparently always busy but it's easy to see why. I'll be coming back soon and trying more of the menu. I'm definitely looking forward to it. Maybe they'll turn the music down just a tad.

I cannot say enough about how fantastic their food is! I have eaten here at least a dozen times and have never been served anything I didn't love. Their restaurant is very cute; bright and inviting. And their service is always speedy and very friendly. I recommend coming here to everyone and anyone!

Julia C was the absolute best! Whatever they are paying her, it's not enough! She went above and beyond to help a "foreigner" from Alabama to feel welcome.

Oh man!!! I ate here a couple of days ago and the food was sooo good and fresh. My waitress name was Julia and she was so friendly. Her smile was bright and welcoming. I ordered the chicken and waffles (breakfast) and the portion was sooo huge and I ate ALL of it. It wasn't stale. Waffles were fluffy, chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. There was a delicious gravy that came with as well as the spicy honey and syrup. You've GOT to try it. The coffee was delicious and not too strong. The atmosphere was cozy, yet swanky. I'll definitely be back.

What a happy mistake. I’ve heard about all the amazing ways the owner of rise and shine has given back to the community, but until now, I’ve never had the chance to eat there. I say happy mistake because we made other plans, but that fell through, so we ended up at rise and shine. We had a short wait, so we walked around the cute Westcott area. Then we received a text that our table was ready. Our waitress Carlie help us navigate the fantastic menu. Carlie was terrific, our coffee cups were never empty, and she ensured our boys got “special” straws. The Bloody Mary was crazy good and big. Tricky to explain, but the picture should help🙂. The care and attention to our dishes were simply breathtaking. What a great experience. From Carlie to the food plus, rise and shine gives back to the community. I can not wait to go here again; it’s my new favorite.

Woah, what a cool breakfast spot! The menu is a QR code that you scan, which a lot of people may not like, but I loved being able to browse the menu from my phone. It would've been a 20 minute wait for a table, but we spotted 2 seats at the counter and were seated right away. I'm really glad we did because we got to watch the 2 bartenders/baristas work their magic, making monstrous milkshakes, latte flights, martinis with mini cupcake toppers, and more! The drink menu is so unique - they even have a mimosa that comes in a obnoxiously large glass with a ladle for serving! The food menu is also extensive and has something for everyone. You can choose to be as adventurous as you'd like. I ordered the Eggs Benedict flight and my husband got the Flaming French Toast. Both were delicious and so unique. I've never had anything like it for breakfast before. I was full for the rest of the day. It's definitely not something that I could eat regularly, but I would come here again next time we visit Syracuse. It's a bit pricey, but it was worth it!

So, so, so good. The food is amazing and the decor is fun and cool. I had the poached eggs with fried green tomatoes and he had the eggs and real hash and they were both perfect. Parking is tight but available. Service was great. Bathroom could be a little cleaner but wasn’t bad enough to take a star away.

So far this is the only place I've had good food while in Syracuse... here's that. ****make a reservation, this is where the college kids come for breakfast, parking is limited unless you park else where, and they close at 3pm. Can't wait to go back. There's so Many cool things on the menu to try. Food was sooooo good, and they serve big portion. Wish they added cheese to the grit.

Amazing breakfast place! Service was great, food was delicious. I was very impressed by the breakfast artistry and options available! We sat at the bar and loved watching all the drinks being made and the food coming out of the kitchen! Expect long waits though unless you get there early!

Yummmyy, drove from Rochester to check this place out . Heard about getting on the waitlist but didn’t know if we would miss out on the drive. There was a 90 minute wait once we checked in but that was no problem since we explored elsewhere and came back. The burger was amazing along with the Bloody Mary. The breakfast pirogies are a great way to start brunch . Many wild drink options it’s hard to choose!

Recently went with a group of friends and let me start by saying WOW! Server we had was so fun and very nice. Offered to chat about all the dishes and recommended her favorites. Food portions are HUGE. Share with someone or simply avoid over ordering. Pierogies and monster fries were so good! Also loved the Irish benny! Drinks were amazing - dirty caramel latte was a smash!

First timers and we loved it! Portions were really big and everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. I had eggs Benedict and my poached egg was perfection. Everything arrived at the table hot and fresh! The prices are great, we left with extra leftover and felt that we paid appropriately. The service is friendly and knowledgeable, even when you call on the phone. We didn't have any trouble getting a table Sunday morning. We called and the process was very easy. Parking was a little sparse but nothing too bad.

This place is decorated in a very fun and bright way to cheer up your mood. The menu is amazing and has lots of choices and variety. I like how they combine different concepts of traditional menu items to deliver a new twist on what you will eat. The food presentation is very good. We ordered the corned beef n hash with eggs along with a skillet plate. The corned beef was great and is made on site. Just take a look at this bloody mary I ordered. It's a drink with its own appetizers. Anna our server was very helpful, friendly, and professional. She answered all our questions with patience and a smile. She was on top of things. She made our dining experience very pleasant.

Came here at the recommendation of both my sister in laws. If you're a breakfast or brunch lover and you find yourself in Syracuse, you won't want to miss this place! Crazy size portions (bring your appetite), huge variety of pancakes and eggs Benedict! Drinks were great (check out the pic of the cocoa puff latte) and overall, a fun, busy vibe. If you are coming on a weekend, you'll want to put your name on a wait list or make a reservation!

I heard about the food and drinks and atmosphere from a friend so I decided to stop by and see for myself and I wasn't let down. The food was Great!! Service was on point and workers were very polite and friendly. Their specialty drinks are very good too. So many choices, presentation of the food and drinks I would give two 👍👍 up!! The Rise 'n' Shine Diner on Westcott never skips a beat. First off, their attendants are wonderful and cheery in a non-fake expressive way. It's always great to come across truly genuine people who actually appreciate their job. Chefs are talented and deserve a raise for sure. I love that even with all the intricate details, your food comes to you at a respectable time. Thanks, till next time.

Wow! It started with the specialty hot chocolate, felt like I needed a small shovel to dig in. The breakfast Mac and cheese was delicious with the jalapenos and hash browns buried underneath. The shrimp and grits were very tasty. Can't wait to go back.

I called ahead at 730am for a 12pm table. Table was ready upon my arrival a few minutes before. Super cute ambiance! So many decadent choices for drinks and meals! Loved my mini pierogi’s in a tin can meal! My daughter enjoyed the French toast it was battered and fried and chocolate filling with hazelnut dressing. Monday’s is buy one get one special on Mimosas and they have a variety of flavors for those as well. Service was on the slow side but it’s extremely busy and we did not mind the extra time to chat and enjoy our Mimosas. Our waitress was pleasant and informative. We sat inside at a booth, outdoor patio seating is available that is super cute too!

This place is amazing and worth the drive and the wait once arrived. I live hour and half away and drive here with family and friends at least 2 or 3 times a year. Food and the drinks are always amazing, unique and delicious. I preach to anyone about this location!!

If you're planning to visit at peak eating time call ahead. It was over an hour wait at 12:30 on a Sunday. The music is really loud, but my husband enjoyed it. There are no menus, scan the qr code on the table. A lot of the staff look unhappy but I think that's just the young people these days. Our waitress was nice. Service is very casual. Their photos on their sm make a visit there seem like it will be more glamorous lol but it was fine. Idk if I'd go back. It's not local to me but it was fun for a special outing. Best for friend groups who like to share flights I would say. You're gonna have to park on the street, that bugs me but obviously not everyone. The place was packed (although it's pretty small).

C

Yummmmmmm! I'm so glad we found this place. Super cute and quaint. We walked in and just sat at the bar. Their menu is EXTENSIVE! I had the Irish benny and hubs had the Basic B. all of it was delish! Definitely stop by if you're in the area. It's actually worth driving out of your area to go too!

Very unique little dinner. Very good food and terrific service staff. The menu is only online so you can pick out what you want before you arrive. The bar tender and barista were awesome to watch in action. Watching food coming out of the kitchen as well as watching them make drinks was a great experience. I cannot say anything bad about this place. Everything was phenomenal. We did have to wait but it was not too long and they texted me when we had seats. The hard thing was choosing what we wanted to eat. I had the eggs Benedict flight and my wife had the crepes. Both were delicious.

J

Came for the first time with my Wife and Mother. Absolutely amazing. I love the atmosphere and vibe. Customer Service fantastic. Took my family out for brunch, we loved all the food we tried, hot and honey chicken waffles, birthday pancake, home slice chicken burger, French toast all of them are finger licking good. Ambience and service is great its a mist visit if you are near syracuse. DJ places amazing songs too.

We had a great brunch on Monday. The waiting time was not terrible and it was a great deal to buy one get two mimosas (although it's one person per order for two mimosa not exactly buy one for two) first time there didn't understand the rule but the waitress was nice enough to give us token for next time for free mimosas. The food portion was huge and everything tasted great. We shared a Benedict flight and all three were with different bread bases and all tasted amazing. We loved our food and the mimosas of course were delicious. I definitely recommend this place for food and if I am in town visiting friends again I will go here again. Great food great atmosphere.

We got up early to get here for 8:15; glad that we did we were seated 5 mins after arriving. We heard wait times being given out from 30 mins to an go ur depending on the party size. Checking in was a little awkward as there is no traditional hostess sign, you basically stand there until someone acknowledges you. Our servers name was Grace (I think) she was super nice how ever service got 4 stars for a few reasons. We had to ask for waters a few times, she claims she’s had almost everything on the menu but didn’t give any recommendations. We shared a boozy iced coffee flight ($17). I got the big momma French toast & my sister got a pancake flight. Overall we spent $55. I would definitely go again but wouldn’t wait for a table

I've never enjoyed a breakfast so much in my life. The atmosphere is peak, the food is amazing, our server was perfect! We got the juice flight, pancake sushi (rice crispy treats really do belong in pancakes!), big daddy pancake wrap, hashbrowns, and homefries.

We had a wait but knew that going in and it was worth it! The hostess made sure to send a text with the wait list and as soon as we were #2 we came in and did not have to wait long. Our waitress Carly was wonderful, the food and drinks were delicious! The spiked coffee and mimosa flights were so good. The food was just as good. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Important details to note: online menu only, limited parking, busy atmosphere! The menu is filled with some of the most unique food choices for a diner I’ve seen in a long time. Crazy egg rolls, pancake flights, mimosa galore, breakfast fried rice, Benny flights, and much more. This was my first time visiting as my boss took us out to breakfast here today. Waitress was super kind and helpful. Drink menu is wicked unique and I recommend trying something! They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Great atmosphere inside and the food was very tasty 🙏 highly recommend checking this place out. The owner(s) know what they are doing

Two of my nurse friends from Upstate Cancer center took me to Rise & Shine restaurant for a celebration of the end of my treatments for breast cancer. I want to say thank you to the staff that cared for us….Due, you were amazing.

Amazing breakfast place with lots of sweet and savory options plus boozy drinks! However, it's so popular that you'll need to join the wait list on their website before! I joined at 9:30 a.m. and was able to get it seated at 12:00 p.m. but it's great for a reason! YUM

Rise n Shine Diner Westcott completely surprised me! I ordered the Shakshuka—eggs simmered in spiced tomato sauce with feta, avocado, za’atar spice, and Greek yogurt with toasted GLUTEN FREE bread—and it was out of this world. The flavors were so fresh and balanced, truly one of the best breakfast dishes I’ve had in a long time. My husband ordered the Spicy Avocado Bacon Wrap, which was good, but honestly nothing compared to my dish. The diner is clean, cozy, and such a perfect spot for couples who love early breakfast dates like us. Service was friendly and attentive, and you can tell they really care about the experience. They truly deserve all the prizes and recognition they’ve received. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We went to see my husband's niece at her new job. We had a party of 5. The manager was able to seat us promptly. Which we appreciate, as it was a Sunday and very busy. Our waitress was great! She was able to keep up with us ordering a lot of drinks and food. We all like to sample different things on the menu. All the food was excellent. I'm not a fan of Mac and cheese so that's the only thing I didn't try. They even brought me a little birthday surprise. With happy birthday wishes! Drinks were creative and refreshing. The atmosphere was modern and fresh. The outside seating area looked pleasurable. With shade and sun. Inside was a smaller setting, and it could be a little bit snug if you're a bigger person. Overall if you like an excellent breakfast/brunch/lunch experience with great quality products, polite staff, and an upbeat atmosphere, you have found your spot. Thank you to the staff and manager for being accommodating. It was worth the time and money.

Cool, clean, cozy, and contemporary restaurant that's in the funkiest part of Syracuse. Incredible variety of breakfast food that you'll probably never find anywhere else. Large portions and reasonable prices. I loved the Korean Eggs Benedict and the Chicken and Waffles. Our waitress, Reina, was also super nice and friendly. Highly recommended!!

This place gets packed pretty quickly, but for good reason. There is plenty of street or designated parking in the area, and it was not very busy outside. We arrived and were met with a line of people waiting to be seated and decided to join their online queue, which I highly recommend. It showed the estimated wait times, and how many people are in front of you. We were seated in a booth as a party of 2 a lot quicker than we expected. They also have bar seating as well. The food was amazing, I had a margarita flight and an omelette with chorizo that was delicious. The service was quick, and they were very patient due to the large menu. I will definitely be back in the near future.

I went in this morning and ordered the French press French toast latte as well as the French press French toast. Both were amazing, though the French toast plate was very sweet. And it was so cute how the latte came with a French toast stick. My bf ordered the big daddy wrap and it was HUGE! He only ate half of one before he was full, but he was definitely happy! Definitely highly recommend

Some amazing and common concepts with a twist for breakfast and brunch…..both food and drinks are creative and tasty. We had the Pancake Sushi (actually a really sweet/sugary dish--so be ready for a sugar high), home fries Poutine (bacon crumbles with fried cheese curds, smothered in sausage gravy), and the kids Silver Dollar Pancakes. The other day my daughter got the Irish Benny (eggs Benedict with corned beef hash). Excellent food and superior service--thanks!

The wait list system has a little room for improvement. Once we finally got to a table service was great! The food and cocktails will not disappoint. The serving sizes are very generous and some of the menu offerings are over the top in the best way possible!

Inventive and delicious food. I got the Tom can pierogi tower. It was good but honestly the nacho cheese sauce was overkill. Replacing it with a lighter sour cream would be better I think. The portions are rich and very large. So definitely plan to share food or come very hungry. Our server seemed to have forgotten we were there. And we were delayed getting water because the dishwasher didn’t show up on time. But the server was attentive once we got their attention.

They have some really good food choices and specialty drinks. Unfortunately the food came out cold and the service was so so. I ordered the flambe French toast and it was heavenly. It is a Very busy spot so be ready to wait to be seated and parking is mostly street parking. Even though the food was cold I would go visit again and give them another chance.

Awesome little spot!! Tons of really cool and unique breakfast options, very large menu selection. We sat at the bar and had great service from the gentleman behind it (sorry, forgot his name) but give that dude a raise, he deserves it! I give 4 stars only because..... My pancake was slightly dry, the food took awhile to come out (they were pretty busy but it still seemed to take quite a long time) and lastly the juice is bottled juice, wish it was freshly squeezed. Otherwise, A+ for service and A+ for menu items. Unique!

A few things fixed and this would be an easy 5 star! The negative…Don’t expect to see your server like ever they barely come to your table so be ready to order and don’t miss the opportunity to get what you need in their rare visits. The menu being only online sucks and it’s hard to find things and the kids options really suck. Will be extremely busy and if you aren’t early you can expect wait times of up to an hour but I don’t hold that against them. The positive…I could come back here dozens of times exploring the incredible menu. So many great options. Beautiful building and decor. Incredibly kind and polite staff. It’s a place you want to be and everything we tasted (except for the frittata do not recommend) was exceptional. Overall this place is a bit hyped up but a great experience and I’ll be back!

Good food and coffee. I had the Cali Benny and added bacon as well as a flight of non-alcoholic iced coffees. Food is a bit under-seasoned, but as someone who watches my salt intake, I appreciated that it wasn't salty and could add a small amount.

M

The food is so delicious and they have many unique options that you could never get anywhere else. One of my favorite things there is the tiramisu French toast, which I’m not sure if it’s more breakfast or dessert. It is definitely more pricey than most diners but all the goodness is more than worth the price. My only complaint would be the lack of a print menu, you have to scan a QR code to read the menu which can be difficult for customers without a smartphone or who don’t have access to a QR reader.

We went to the closed location on Thompson Road and I really liked the vibe with that one. It’s homey and who doesn’t like to eat breakfast in a place with a homey vibe? Anyway, finally back but in a new location. Food didn’t disappoint as expected. I like the interior of the new place but didn’t get that homey feeling, to modern for my taste. I am giving 4 stars because I remember the old place to have servers and staff to be pleasant. I just thought maybe our server was not having a good day. Here are photos of what me and my husband ordered.

Went for brunch on a busy holiday and they were out of a lot of things we wanted to try but there were still a lot of dishes to choose from. We didn’t get a chance to try any of the shakes, hot chocolate, and pink lemonade, this time around but we will be back. The food came out hot and delicious and the portions were huge. The music made the atmosphere very inviting but also probably contributes to the long waits because people were slow to leave. We were quoted nearly a two hour wait when we first went. There was parking but the lots fills up fast. We secured parking across the street in the community parking lot for free. Overall I give gem 4 stars for still delivering for us even though they were out of a lot of things.

Has a parking lot in the side of the building. Steady stream of people the whole time. Were seated without a wait. Went on a Tuesday not a weekend. Ordered the pancake flight, crepe carnitas and home slice chicken sandy. As well as a latte. Everything came out looking and tasting amazing. The menu is online you have to scan a QR code at the restaurant to view it. The prices are a.bit pricey. However what isn't pricey nowadays. I definitely recommend checking this place out. I will be back again soon.

We recently had the pleasure of eating brunch at Rise and Shine in Syracuse, New York, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The customer service was great, with friendly and attentive staff who made me feel right at home. The food at Rise and Shine is truly something special - unique, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. From the creative breakfast dishes to the lemonade flight, every sip and bite was a culinary delight. I highly recommend trying their signature dishes for a one-of-a-kind breakfast experience “The Big Daddy”. My hubby could not finish the whole thing. Not only was the food outstanding, but the restaurant itself was cute and charming, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere for diners. It's the perfect spot to start your day off right or enjoy a leisurely brunch with friends and family. For visitors and travelers in Syracuse, Rise and Shine is a must-visit spot that will leave you satisfied and smiling. I can't wait to return and sample more of their tasty offerings. Overall, I highly recommend Rise and Shine for a memorable breakfast experience in Syracuse. Five stars all around! Happy dining!

Visited for the first time during a visit with my daughter who's a student. While I appreciate the huge portions and great value, I was very disappointed in the service. And it wasn't busy early Sunday morning... The place was half empty, we walked right in, and were told to choose our table from many. It was 15 minutes before we received water, 20 minutes before we were asked if we wanted coffee. Add another 30 minutes to get our food. But mostly it was the lack of attention paid to us... I was begging for a second cup of coffee. Delicious corned beef hash, perfectly cooked eggs over easy... pass on the fresh seasonal fruit which was half a granny smith apple, orange, and a few strawberries. I'm a corned beef hash fan but I'll get my fix somewhere else during my next trip.

After numerous really positive experiences at this restaurant, our experience today was quite different. The music was so loud that it made conversation at my booth difficult. My shakshuka was way over-salted. My hot tea was lukewarm. My wife's pastrami smoked salmon benney was also over salted. The bread was excellent. The server never checked on us after serving our meal and barely acknowledged us when we paid for our meals. This was an overpriced unpleasant experience. I hope this experience was only an anomaly. It was really nice when this restaurant served excellent meals with great service.

L
Lisa Goolsby

This place is nice, my experience just wasn’t excellent. The atmosphere is beautiful. Unfortunately it took an hour to get my order and I was sitting at the bar. When the food did come out, it wasn’t hot. So I’m sure it had been ready for awhile but wasn’t brought out to me for at 10minutes based on the temperature of the food. The flavor was good, but the texture of the rice wasn’t great, kind of dry. Still, I definitely recommend this place. Overall the drinks are really tasty and the flavors they have in the food are good, I’m guessing maybe they were understaffed or a little overwhelmed in the kitchen. When I pass through Syracuse again I’ll definitely give it a try again and maybe try another dish

Stopped in on enthusiastic recommendations and Google ratings. Food is average....my French toast and sausages were cooked to death and the maple syrup was the usual diner corn starch concoction. Very long wait times for food even though the restaurant was not very busy. Reputation and cost are way out of line with reality.

A
Amy Cyr

Not worth the hype. We got there early on a Saturday, hoping to beat the rush, but there was already a 45 min wait. The parking lot attached to the restaurant is very small, and finding street parking close by was a little difficult. But we decided to wait because we heard good things. Service was average, food was ok. If I do give them another chance I'll likely order something else, not the chicken and waffles or pancake sushi. The waiting area in front is very small and close to tables so it makes it awkward waiting next to guests eating. The cleanliness of the restaurant left something to be desired. There are other good restaurants in Syracuse, I don't know that this would be on the top of my list of recommendations.

Rise n Shine is a hit or miss. Not much quality control when it comes to providing a tasty meal or drink for a guest. We got the coffee flight today (iced) all 4 came out warm. They were bland, no flavor and tasted worse than coffee ive tried making at home (which is pretty terrible). The peanut butter one was the only good one, so I asked to have that as just a single drink maybe iced this time. It came out worse than the one in the flight tasted. At this point, I hadn't even wanted to tell our server my French toast was raw on the inside. Spending 70 dollars for 2 people and just not having the experience or flavor profiles that this location used to have a year or two ago. Booths are super tight as well keep in mind.

While the food was good, the experience was less so. The menu has a large selection of everything you could hope for a good brunch, we opted for some lattes, mimosa flights, breakfast pizza, and shakshuka. The shakshuka was the star of the show, this was super flavourful and a nice change for a brunch option. There are gluten free options, and the server was helpful in directing me in the right direction for what I could eat, and what she would recommended. Apart from this, the service was a little shocking. Our drink orders were wrong, and one was forgotten. It took over an hour for the food to come out, and before it did, the staff were placing the chairs on top of the tables, even though it was at least 15 minutes to closing time. Because of this we felt incredibly rushed, and our food hadn’t even come yet. Workers at the restaurant then stood at the bar and watched us when the food did come out and we started to eat. We had to call for our silverware to start eating, and then had to find someone later to find the bread for the second dish we ordered. We felt rushed and unable to enjoy our meal with the restaurant essentially closing down around us while we tried to eat the meal we drove over an hour for.

This is typically my go to spot. I am very fussy with my food, but it’s typically very good. The last 2 times I’ve been here with my husband the food has gone downhill. Especially this last time. I ordered the avocado toast (pictured in menu with 2) came with one. Waitress told me it’s a really long slice of bread ( it’s not) eggs were overcooked and my egg was broken when I received it. I also ordered the Nutella French toast. It had the potential to be very good but it was so over deep fried. It was like a very well done apple fritter. I sent it back. In place of that I got the French toast with the berries. And that had a hair in it. Definitely not an enjoyable experience, sad to say I left upset and hungry. My husband ordered the big daddy wrap, the pancakes were very tough. My son had the kids pancakes and those were also very tough. I hope these issues will be addressed and I hope that if I decide to return that the food will be worth going.

The food wasn’t bad but it was very salty and greasy. So much butter in my grits and shrimp. The milkshake was soooo sugary! I had to ask for milk to help with that. They put my friend under the vent which was leaking, we had to ask to be moved. Place is so tiny! You’re so code to strangers. Affordable and cute but not worth the hype to me.

Never really leave reviews anywhere, but for all the hype I got about this place I was left very disappointed. Our appetizer of the poutine was decent, but obviously thrown together, and for the aggregious prices of every item it’s upsetting. My entree was the Nashville hot mac and cheese. Broken and tasteless sauce and frozen chicken strips on top (not even Nashville hot somehow?). Even the coffee was disappointing. Depressing experience altogether with a 2.5 hour wait 😆

As a small business owner myself, I don’t leave negative reviews lightly. I understand how difficult service can be and how much goes on behind the scenes. I also believe honest feedback is an opportunity for growth when expectations clearly aren’t met. We were seated shortly after 3:00 pm. About five minutes later our server stopped by, but one person at our table had not yet been able to view a menu because no paper menus were offered and they did not have a cell phone. The server said she would return. Around 3:15 pm I got up to find her and explained that we had a 4:00 pm appointment across the street. I specifically asked if that would work. She said yes i will be right over. We understood it might be tight but expected it to be manageable. Our drinks came out quickly, but we were not given spoons for beverages topped with whipped cream, making them difficult to stir or drink. The kids laughed it off and managed with the butter knife. However this was the opportunity for the first round of check in's. Shortly before 3:50 pm, someone cleared our drinks and unused silverware as if we had already eaten, even though our food had not yet arrived. With no food on the table and the clock ticking, part of our party left around 3:55 pm to make the 4:00 appointment. At 4:05 pm the server came back and asked where everyone went. When reminded about the 4:00 appointment, we asked to pay and have the food wrapped since it still had not been delivered. The food finally came out wrapped around 4:10 pm. There was no apology, and the delivery felt abrupt. Fifty minutes for two burgers, a chicken sandwich, and eggs during non-peak hours is not typical. More concerning was the lack of communication. If the kitchen could not meet the timeline we expressed, that would have been completely fair to say. Clear expectations matter. I’ve had good food here in the past, which is why I would consider returning. But this visit was disappointing and feels like a management opportunity to evaluate service standards and communication.

The only reason giving “1” Star is because it’s required. Service? What Service.. Another couple and along with us waited at the Hostess stand for at least 15 minutes before being acknowledged by a waitress, it was later the “2” Hostess appeared. We followed the directions at the front door and waited for the Hostess at the back patio. The entire time we stood at the Hostess stand the phone rang. Rise N Shine, thank you for saving me my money this morning. We along with the other couple chose to leave and even almost answered your annoying ringing phone. I’m sure your customers on the patio enjoyed listening to a constant ringing phone. I sure hope the rest of New York’s service is not this terrible because I’m not impressed.

We were told the wait time for a table was 4 hours, so we chose to sit at the bar instead. After placing our order, 40 minutes went by with no food. When we asked our waitress for an update, she had no idea and had to check with the kitchen. She came back to let us know it would be another 15 minutes. At that point, we decided to leave since waiting nearly an hour for food at any restaurant is unacceptable. The staff needs to be more aware of what’s happening with orders and communicate better—both internally and with guests. On top of that, the kitchen should be more organized to avoid such long delays. Overall, the lack of communication and efficiency left us very disappointed.

This place is nasty as hell. I’ve seen mice running around the dining are and a roach in the bathroom. I’ve never been so disturbed and was admitted too embarrassed to say anything. But even still the food was tasteless and bland. EATING AT THIS PLACE MAKES ME WANT TO SKIN MYSELF AND ROLL AROUND IN SALT. would not recommend unless you want Instagram aesthetic food, that is hardly edible. Our waitress (an older lady) she was a rockstar though, really polite and very helpful

Take out was a nightmare. Waited over an hour for a pancake flight and some scrambled eggs. Then I get home and open up the containers and the food is incredibly lackluster. Eggs were funky and flavorless. Pancakes were dry and no extra syrup was given. Missing half the ingredients in the description--a far cry from the menu picture. I can understand the presentation for takeout not being the same as in-restaraunt, but this was a total rip off.

I usually don't write bad reviews... but this was just worth saying: Joined a two hour waitlist... that's fine. Got in after our wait and got seated right away. It was packed, obviously. It's Friday and it's brunch time. I was fine with the wait to get a seat. We ordered drinks and food. The drinks were great, don't get me wrong, hard to mess up alcohol. However, the food seriously lacked. I got the flaming French toast that came out in a wet pile of melted whipped cream and some brown liquid?? Idk what the liquid was but it was WET and cold. And my fiancé's eggs Benedict flight was completely cold all the way through... and he got his food first. I understand as both of us are food service workers that busy hours can get hectic, but I was really dissatisfied, especially after paying 80 dollars for brunch (even with the Benedict flight taken off our bill). Hate to be a Karen especially coming from a fellow restaurant employee. But this was just not up to a standard I'd let my customers receive, let alone as a patron who waited two hours for brunch.

Didn’t stay to eat, so can't say what the food was like. Didn't want fast food, but certainly had no intentions of paying $50+ for two of us to have breakfast. The price for a typical breakfast offering was $20 ea., excluding drinks and tip. I saw nothing under $17.99 sorting through the tiny phone sized menu. I really didn't take the time to look at what they offered after seeing the prices of everything. Just wanted a basic breakfast. It's basically a diner atmosphere. Nothing spectacular...inside or out. Had I known they considered themselves a gourmet restaurant, I wouldn't have bothered. Once seated, we were told to look up the menu online, without offering a beverage. Definitely don't like that. I want an actual menu. That's not what I consider service. Don't insult your customers (charging the prices you do), without providing a proper menu and dining experience. Sorry, I’m out. I also found their initial retort to be whiny and condescending.
