Amazing sushi restaurant. Great quality and super fresh

D
Darrin Kent

Hands down, the best sushi in town! I've been coming regularly for the past 10 years, even though there are at least a dozen other sushi restaurants that are closer. The fish is always top quality and the dishes are always expertly prepared. They're not the cheapest; but when it comes to sushi, quality is something I'm happy to pay extra for!

Sushi camp is the BEST place in town! The staff is amazing and the sushi is fresh and good! They plate the food as an art and you will usually see a little extra side or some creative little touch. I would eat here everyday if I lived closed enough. Lucas and Jay are by far the sweetest people ever and are incredibly generous!!! GO HERE!

This was my first time eating at Sushi Camp and I was very pleasantly surprised! I ordered a roll that I probably would not have if I had understood how it was wrapped in a sort of tempura shell but it turned out to be very delicious! But I gave the five stars because the albacore nigiri was absolutely some of the best I've ever had!! I'm no sushi "expert" but I know what I like and Sushi Camp's albacore was "buttery" and SO tasty! I will be going back there for more soon!

Great food always consistently good. Small dining room, 2 TV's usually with sports on. Sushi chefs are a bit quiet unless they know you and you are a regular.

I've sampled just about every sushi place in Temecula, but always come back to Sushi camp on a regular basis. Donnie is a great sushi chef, Lucas and Jay are awesome Proprietors and their Sushi is always fresh and delicious. I love this place. Unpretentious, delicious and consistent quality.

Fresh rice and fresh fish. Small place. Their baked mussels were really good. I also tried the Crazy Tnt roll and the Volcano roll. Both were very good. It wasn't busy at all when I went Sunday afternoon so the service was good. A little on the pricey side. One of the rolls was $16.00.

My daughter enjoyed a very nice dinner on a Saturday at 5:15 pm. It was very quiet, but by 6 pm it was filling up with people and much louder. The food, service, quieter ambiance when we first arrived, and prices were excellent.

Been coming here since they opened and have NEVER BEEN DISSAPOINTED. Husband and wife team run a great place with great people. I remember when Donnie was training to become the master chef that he is. If your thinking of sushi give this place a try, you won't regret it.

Sushi Camp is our go-to place for sushi. We have been going here for many years and the fish is always top quality. The owners, sushi chefs and staff are very friendly and attentive. I eat sushi in the Orange County, San Diego, and Los Angeles areas regularly, and Sushi Camp's food ranks right up there with the best high end restaurants.

Great sushi and great service. Very impressed with how fresh the sushi was. We tried the mermaid roll with with real crab. It was delicious. We've tried other sushi restaurants in town and so far this is the only one that we have gone to on more than one occasion.

The first time I ate here was when I was 10. I am 20 now and still love coming here, we go every Saturday. It's wonderful. The dishes are fancy and the guys who work there always make us laugh and they cook awesome dishes. HIGHLY recommended. I've tried a few other places and still think this restaurant is the best. ♡

This is one the best sushi spots in Temecula. Excellent and friendly service. Has that "Cheers" vibe where the sushi chefs remember you! Love this spots and the crunch rolls and pork gyoza are delicious! Highly recommend!

The only fresh wasabi and best sushi restaurant in Temecula. I’ve been to other higher rated sushi establishments in the city and this is by far the best one. I’ve been here regularly over the past year and the quality of food and service is always top notch. I love the escolar sashimi and the fresh wasabi is always worth paying for.

Very fresh, impressive plating/presentation, supremely savory, fair priced and friendly service...consistently. The Sushi Chefs at Sushi Camp provide quality and do it with skills as sharp as their knifes.

This is by far without any doubt the very best sushi restaurant. Ive been all over California and If I ever do get to travel and try a spot, that place has its work cut out. Very nice staff. Very professional. Attention to detail and different flavors of sauce is amazing. I eat sushi and sashimi and kama. If you go somewheres else you are missing out!

We were craving sushi, last minute this place was open late. We don't like going to new places cause you never know how the food will be. We were far from our usual restaurant so we decided to give this place a try and we didn't regret it. It was bomb!! Delicious the service was great 5 star on everything. Now we have another place to stop by for sushi:) try it out you won't regret I promise the food is great!

Excellent place for sushi in Temecula. All the family members are sushi lovers and this place as won the place of one of the favorites. The right flavor mixture, freshness, quantity of food per entree, the service. One of the best sushi places we have been to. Highly recommend it. 4 people with a total tab of about $ 95 plus gratuity.

I started coming here in 2009 with my now husband. He introduced a skeptical non sushi eater to the alaska roll for her first time. I am now a devout sushi lover thanks to this place, and I'm not lying! No other place can measure up to the taste and quality of this restaurant! We moved out of state for the last 10 years, but whenever we visit family, it is a must... and a gloating opportunity if we aren't together... to make it to Sushi Camp!! You guys put out fresh and delicious sushi everytime and the staff has been continuously generous and kind to us whenever we are there! Thank you so much!

By far the Best Sushi, service and prices! My wife being Japanese states the same. The few negatives on here, obviously they don’t know good Sushi.

Best sushi in Temecula and probably all of Riverside county. Happy hour deals M-Thursday. Have always had a great meal there no matter day or time. Fresh, quality eats in a comfortable environment and very clean. Staff friendly & helpful.

This place is the best! The sushi is so good and all the girls who are the servers are super nice. They are so fun and friendly and super easy to talk to. The sushi is great and reasonably priced. They have happy hour all day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, where a lot of rolls are at a discounted price. I definitely reccomend the pizza roll. Its not on the happy hour menu, but I get it every time I go there. It's worth every penny!

My husband and I just had the pleasure of experiencing the Sushi at Sushi Camp, and OMG, it was the best we’ve had in YEARS…. We couldn’t stop talking about how fresh it was. The Crab is REAL, Tuna melts in your mouth, Scallops were generous, service was fast and friendly. I agree with another poster, the name of the place through us off, but we were recommended by someone and we are so glad we were. It is a little pricier than we typically pay for a roll, but sooo worth it. It’s ruined us from eating Sushi anywhere else and unfortunately we don’t live nearby (we were out of town). We will just need to make more trips to Temecula to eat here again!

Best sushi we had in a long while. We travel a lot and have been to many sushi restaurants in US. We just passed by Temecula and saw this one. We were a bit skeptical with the name and the chef is not Japanese. The menu is extensive and the fish was fresh. We enjoyed homemade salad dressing, diamond roll, eel roll, yellow tail nigiri and mackerel nigiri. Well done.

I read some of your reviews, and yes! This place did not disappoint. The service was excellent!!!! I really enjoyed the garlic Edamame, those things are delicious. Our rolls were done very well by the Sushi Chef and surprisingly fast. Everything tasted fresh. Thank you for making my birthday dinner delicious.

I ended up giving 5 stars because although the sushi chefs appear to have misplaced our table’s order as they served the rotating persons seated at the bar- the humility, accountability and kindness the staff showed in making it up to us was exceptional. They really cared. That mattered to me because it was our first visit. Mistakes happen, it’s how you handle them that matters. The Sushi 🍣 and the food was great! I wanted an easier to read menu- some items on the order sheet aren’t on the menu and vice-versa. I was very impressed with the roll size- we like to share and try many different rolls and it’s always disappointing to try a roll and barely get enough for one person much less two to share. The portion sizes are great and shareable- so you can buy a few rolls, some miso soup, an app and really enjoy! The hospitality and the food quality made this an enjoyable meal- really enjoyed it and am looking forward to coming back and trying some of the specialties like those found advertised in the pics below.

There are restaurants you visit and then there are restaurants that become part of your routine, your story, your comfort. Sushi Camp in Temecula is exactly that kind of place for me. For the past seven years, this unassuming gem has been a faithful go-to, and I can honestly say: Donny and the staff feel like family. No matter what kind of Monday Madness life throws at you, emails that won’t stop, traffic that crawls, or just the general existential dread of the work week… Sushi Camp is the culinary sanctuary that resets your mood and reminds you: “you made it.” There’s a peace here. A warm familiarity. It’s not just sushi, it’s therapy with soy sauce on the side. The service? Impeccable. Attentive without hovering. Friendly without being performative. And consistent, year after year. Donny is the heart of the operation, always making you feel like your arrival was the best part of his day. ⸻ 🍣 MUST-HAVE ROLLS FOR FIRST-TIMERS (and forever-fans): 1. Oh No! Roll 😱🤯 The name alone tells you you’re in for a wild ride. A bold, spicy, crunchy, creamy masterpiece that delivers that “OH NO!” kick; in the best way. Perfect for thrill-seekers who like their sushi to make a statement. 2. Tiger Roll 🐅🌶️ Elegant with a punch. This one balances heat and flavor with an almost animalistic grace. The seared top, spice drizzle, and satisfying texture give it serious main character energy. 3. Mermaid Roll 🧜‍♀️ A whimsical dream of a roll… light, beautiful, almost magical in flavor. If sushi could sing underwater ballads and sparkle in sunlight, this would be it. A crowd-pleaser for both sushi newcomers and seasoned sushi-philes. 4. Ultra Dragon Roll 🐉🐲🔥 The FINAL Boss of sushi rolls. Smoky, rich, and unapologetically dramatic. It commands the plate like a dragon guarding its treasure. A top-tier roll that turns dinner into a legend. ⸻ Whether you’re looking to celebrate a milestone, recover from the daily grind, or introduce a friend to your favorite sushi escape, Sushi Camp is a reliable beacon of flavor, comfort, and hospitality. Here’s to many more years of Oh No! moments, Tiger bites, Mermaid dreams, and Dragon flames.

This place is next level, great quality. They do not skimp on portions, there is a good amount of fish in each roll. Also, the presentation showcases their dedication to quality. I recommend the Tiger Roll, as well as the fresh oysters. But this is one of those gems where I would confidently order any roll and know it was thoughtfully and skillfully made.

I can see why locals prefer this place, it's in a quiet corner of Temecula, service is good, and the fish quality is superb! There's a large variety of discussion rolls here and the selection of sashimi isn't bad too! You place your order on a piece of paper kinda like AYCE, but there is no AYCE option which confused me a little. Rolls came out super fast and the plating on them was good, there was a reasonable amount of sauce on them and the spider roll featured genuine soft shell crab!

We were passing thru town and stopped here for a bite to eat by chance.  It's a small place kind of cramped and VERY NOISY. No one greets you upon entering so we walked up only to be told to seat ourselves. We opted for outdoor seating. The food was very good and extremely fresh hence the 4 stars. Unfortunately once they served us we were forgotten. We asked for plates for the appetizers and the plates came well after the food was gone. Other patrons left because of the wait. The waitress that brought our food was not friendly and appeared extremely bothered. If you dont mind poor service this place does have great food. Recommendation to management. Get out from behind the register and help your staff

This was a very pleasant place to go. The atmosphere was intimate and clean. The sushi was good and the waitress (owner?) was willing to add cream cheese to one of the rolls we had in question. Service was friendly, prompt, and the rolls came out great. They provided a generous amount of wasabi and ginger which, I think, is awesome. The lunch special from Monday-Wednesday is something to keep in mind.

My first time here. I opted for appetizers. On a side note, the entire staff was staring at me the entire time I was there. It was kind of strange. I also noticed there are 2 white guys making the sushi. Not a big deal but the two that were staring at me looked like they might have been the owners and they were Japanese. Kind of strange but I used to roll sushi many years ago and I'm white so I'm not upset about that but I just got a weird vibe. The two that kept staring at me never said a thing to me so I didn't know what the deal was. This may cause me to be a little harsh on the review but you can judge for yourself. I think it was poor value. Two appetizers for 20 bucks. I've never been here so I didn't know what to expect but I was thinking that, for that price, the portion size would be better. The soft shell crab. It was just one single crab for 10 bucks? Usually it's around 3 but I know they are expensive and it did include a bed of mixed greens with dressing but I know that is just filler. If it was just a single crab for 10 bucks, people would never buy. The dynamite was good. This seems to be a rare item nowadays so I was happy they had it but unlike other places, there was no crab, they put salmon chunks in. (At least, I think it was salmon). But it was ok. Could've been a little more but again, the price is what killed me. 10 bucks. I didn't see many scallops. But since the flavor was on point, I guess I was happy with this. Overall, just 3 stars. I'm trying not to change my star rating on the strange feeling I got from the people staring at me because I want to give 2 because if the value but I'm settle for 3.

Horribly conceived service. We felt confused as we walked in, no obvious host or system in place to be seated or order. Very poor atmosphere. Seems like they rely heavily on making you think it's 'cool' to eat there. Sadly although not shocking, the sushi is mediocre at best since 'Camp' is not a word anyone in their right mind would or should associate with eating raw fish.

J

Food came out burned, charred beyond recognition.. served it to me and said I’d eaten half of it. I mentioned to the server it was burned when receiving it, he said, “ that’s how I like it , try it” tried it and it wound up in my napkin. Sad how their mistakes end up my miserable experience, with bill to match, then pretend nothing happened. Don’t t recommend it for an enjoyable experience or for halfway decent sushi experience. Go somewhere else.. anywhere else.
