Tip: Choose your spice level carefully; the star grading is helpful. If you can't tolerate spice, choose level 1-2.

My favorite ramen in the city!!! No one else offers anything close to the Spicy Ginger Stamina! The staff is incredibly gracious and kind, too!
Had a craving at the office for spicy ramen, so I took a chance on a new place for delivery- WOW!! Such a delicious and unique bowl of ramen. I got their Miso Butter ramen, and added an egg. It was so delicious- rich, savory, stuffed full of meet and veggies. I got the spicy level 1 (I’m a wimp who is sensitive to spice) and it was perfect. The pork was thick cut, a very generous portion, and had a lovely char on it. The noodles were lovely and chewy, and the broth coated them almost like a sauce. It was packaged perfectly to keep the broth and noodles separate- always a gamble when getting ramen delivered. Will definitely go in person sometime, as I hear the atmosphere is cozy and warm!
this place is SO good, it never disappoints! the pork belly is mouthwatering, the veggies are fresh, the noodles cooked perfectly, and the broth is packed with flavor. it's also great for the price. my one complaint is that they're always playing top 100 pop music, and i wish they were playing something a little more low-key.
Karakatta is such a wonderful spot. The atmosphere is amazing—warm, cozy, and instantly welcoming. The staff today Jay and Nima were incredibly friendly while remaining very professional, which makes the whole experience even better. I tried the Tonkotsu ramen today with extra pork belly, and it was absolutely delicious! rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced. A place that truly makes you want to come back again and again 🍜
From the moment we walked in, Karakatta delivered a standout experience in its small space. The cozy interior near Washington Square Park lends an inviting, almost hidden-gem vibe while the service was friendly. The menu offers a thoughtful variety including vegan / vegetarian options and spice-level customization from 1 to 5, so whether you’re after something mild or fully spicy you’re covered. Pro tip: The space is compact and can get busy during peak hours. It’s worth going a little earlier or expecting a short wait.
Our Friday Night Spot 🍜❤️ Since discovering this place, my wife and I haven’t missed a single Friday. Out of all the ramen we’ve had in NYC—and even Japan—this one’s our champion. The stamina ramen is my go-to comfort food now. It brings back the cozy, homemade feeling of something my grandma would’ve made—hearty, rich, and full of soul. The staff are always warm and welcoming, making us feel like true regulars. It’s more than dinner—it’s our weekly ritual.
My wife and I were craving ramen while in the area, so I checked out some nearby spots and read through reviews. We decided to try this place because it was the closest, and we’re so glad we did. The ramen was outstanding—definitely some of the best I’ve had. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the noodles tasted handmade (I think!). Everything was spot-on. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed, and our food came out quickly. The only downside is that the space is quite small, so it might feel cramped if it’s busy. Luckily, we were there at a quieter time. I highly recommend this place—it’s truly fantastic!
This place is small but cozy, with a friendly atmosphere and excellent food! I ordered three different types of ramen, and all of them were delicious. I also loved that I could choose my preferred spice level! The house hot sake perfectly complemented the food as well!👍 One more thing! The appetizer was also perfect! Definitely a must-try alongside the ramen. I highly recommend this place!!!
I stopped by for a solo lunch on a rainy day, which set a perfect mood for ramen. The noodles had a great "al dente" texture. I ordered Spicy Level 3, and it wasn't overwhelmingly hot—just the right amount of kick. It’s a solid choice if you enjoy moderate heat. I opted for the pork broth. While I really appreciated the vegetables (chives/leeks), the broth itself lacked a bit of depth and complexity, and the chashu was unfortunately a bit dry. However, the appetizers and drinks were excellent. The Takoyaki was a highlight; the cheese powder topping was a unique touch, and the octopus pieces inside were large, providing a great texture. The Sapporo draft beer was fresh and delicious, almost reminding me of my time in Hokkaido. The staff were friendly, and the space, while small, has a cozy vibe. I enjoyed the meal because I love ramen in general, but considering the flavor of the broth, I’m a bit conflicted about whether I would rush back.
I recently dined here and had a mixed experience. The ramen itself was good and came out quickly, and the space is small but cozy. However, after I had already started eating (about a third of the way through my bowl), I was asked to move to the other side of the restaurant to accommodate a larger group that was arriving. While I understand the need to manage seating in a small space, it was disruptive to be asked to switch seats mid-meal. When I asked for a to-go container, I was handed a box but not offered assistance, and overall the service felt minimal. I completely understand that working in the service industry isn’t easy, but when tipping expectations are standard, I do hope for a more thoughtful and attentive experience. Food was solid, but the service experience could be improved.
We stopped by Karakatta with the hopes of having some spicy ramen, and unfortunately the ramen did not live up to my expectations:( We ordered a bowl of ginger ramen (spice level 5) and a bowl of the winter special spicy black tantanmen (spice level 4). The pork in the ginger ramen had a nice charred taste to it, and I also liked the fried curry chicken slices in the tantanmen. Everything was delicious- my main disappointment was that the food was not spicy enough. I expect a level 5 to be truly spicy, but I would have rated it a level 2. So spice lovers beware- you might have to look elsewhere!
Absolutely awful…the atmosphere is like a ghost town (with red lights flooding the tiny room). Broth was thick, greasy, and unbearably salty (we didn’t even order the miso ramen). The server was incredibly rude and entitled. They first disallowed us to put two people together (we’re a party of three and no one was waiting). They finally agreed bc we said a friend was coming. There was barely any service. Then, came the most outrageous thing I’ve ever experienced in my entire study in America— when we provided a lower tip, one server came over to us and admonished us for our “inappropriate behavior”. They made the kitchen staff the scapegoat and insisted that their job had nothing to do with the kitchen. She also argued that we finished the food, implying that we didn’t deserve to complain about it. We simply didn’t want to waste food. She even demanded for our understanding bc “you’re students and you should understand). Totally unbelievable. Will never ever go again.
We had one of the worst dining experiences of our lives here.(got injured) My friend and I came on Saturday night and were seated at the bar because there were no tables. The space was extremely cramped. During our meal, a female server spilled a full glass of water all over my friend, soaking her phone and her jeans. We had to wipe everything ourselves with paper towels. After that, my friend completely lost her appetite — and honestly, the food wasn’t even good to begin with. Later, a male staff member came and told us to move to otherseat so a group of three could take our seats. We were unhappy but tried to be understanding since the restaurant was busy and people were waiting in the cold. We picked up our plates and moved without complaining. This is where things became unacceptable. The seat i moved was next to an EXTREMELY hot heater with exposed metal. No warning. No sign. No “be careful.” As soon as I sat down, my shoulder touched it and I got burned. When I told the staff and I asked for medicine, they said they had none and handed me a single ice pack which was totally helpless. No real apology. No concern. Nothing. We immediately paid our bills and left humiliated and angry. My friend got sick after going home soaking wet in freezing weather. I now have a burn scar on my shoulder that will likely last a very long time. What shocked me the most was not the accident, but how little the staff cared.I actually showed my scar to the male staff, but he seems really careless to his customer. I am writing this while still applying burn cream. I will post this everywher and tell every one to avoid this horrible place so no one else has to get injured here. Update on 12/21: After the burn, the scar darkened.
