Avis sur Madama Piola Torino
Outstanding. Loved it from the moment we walked in. Happy staff, very helpful and great recommendations. Food was superb, rabbit in oil remarkable, and the high quality meat sauce with the Plin pasta was outstanding. The veal and tuna small plate speciality was a wonderful and dont.miss the light tiramisu experience. Artisnal vermouth - so good. So kind and appreciated. Definitely give this place your time.
This restaurant is not a touristy place which is why I think we enjoyed it. Our group of 8 had a broad sampling of the menu. I had the Bollita which was a sampling of meats in broth. It was adventurous for me but I loved it all. The veal cheek was magnificent and the pasta was fresh. The dessert was also nice, especially the one with caramel, orange and grand marnier with ice cream. The prices were more than fair and the staff was very kind and patient (we do not speak any Italian). The sommelier also chose very nice and affordable wines.
We’re supposed to go to other piola in the neighborhood that was close. But found this gem instead. The service was 10/10! The server was very friendly and also recommended us their specialty. Food was delectable, didn’t expect much at first but was blown away. We took the egg with Tabasco for starter and the tartar with hazelnuts and was absolutely delicious. For the mains I took the ravioli with meat and to end our night in Turin we took Tiramisu for dessert to share that has hazelnuts (first time to have that kind of tiramisu).
Absolute perfect end to my stay in Turin. I did not expect much but was blown away. The food is as excellent as the service - the lady who served me was super friendly and recommended delicious wine and dishes. I had two glasses of piedmont red wines (one reserved) with a four course meal: 1. Starter of Onion baked with a center of sausage meats and drenched in a cheesy sauce. Goodness! To die for. 2. Plin similar to agnolioti or ravioli in a meat sauce. It was morsels of heaven filled with meaty cheesy fillings and the pasta is al dente, swimming in a hearty meat broth. It brought tears to my eyes. 3. Wild boar - I thought I would regret my choice but turn out to be a flavorful dish with delicious sauce and beautifully plated. 4. Zabaione served with wheat flour cookies. Warm, citrusy and a hint of alcohol? It’s a wonderful Italian end to the dinner. Seated in front of the kitchen and I was treated to two hours of reality tv - wondrous action in full view. Makes me want to come back to Turin again!
Delicious meal, almost perfect despite two minor flaws which I hope the restaurant considers addressing. But overall this was one of the best meals on my trip, outstandingly friendly and helpful service, and a wonderfully broad menu. I had the best seat in the house sitting at the bar watching the kitchen prep the food. The attached photos show everything I ordered: 1) Rabbit and pumpkin - absolutely delicious 2) Meat tortellini in butter and sage - also wonderful 3) Pork chop - this was cooked perfectly but served with too much sweet sauce that really overpowered the dish, they should pull back on this 4) Peach tatin - Yummy but the ice cream was a ball of ice strips, not at all creamy like ice cream should be
Had a birthday celebration there. Very romantic place, we were seated at the bar looking into the kitchen which was super nice to see as they prepped our dinner. We had a couple of appetizers that were not super noteworthy but the main dishes were very satisfying. All paired with a bottle of red wine and finished off with a tiramisu it was the perfect place.
Best foodie experience we have had….. probably ever!! Number 1 in our book of many! We tried 8 dishes, all were creative, well presented, scrumptious and served with a smile and much professionalism. The knowledge the staff had about every component of the menu/ source was amazing. Definitely a place you would want to visit while you are in Turin!! We can’t wait to return to Madama Piola!! We especially enjoyed “Luca” who served us the wine and digestive. Great recommendations on the wine and our server, ( sorry didn’t see your name on your cute apron) Our server was Fantastic in every way.
Probably the best restaurant experience I had in my time in Turin. I highly recommend it for traditional Piedmontese food served in a modern setting. Staff were great, especially the gentleman who served us (I think his name was Luca) and recommended some great bottles of wine. Food is well priced, and some of my favourites include the Vitello tonnato, stuffed onion, beef tartare, and plin in roast meat sauce. Desserts were also amazing! Best tart tartin I’ve ever had and tiramisu was fantastic too.
Beautifully designed restaurant. I loved the open kitchen. We had the fried polenta for starter, it was fun. For the main courses we had the beef cheek and the tortelloni which is their specialty. The tortellonis were perfectly prepared, like a work of art. The beef cheek was soft and tender, like butter, probably the best I’ve ever had. However the bouillon (meat gravy) which was the same for both plates, was extremely salty. So salty that it completely ruined the dish for me, I couldn’t finish my plate. Such a shame. It seems like a chef’s error, perhaps he spilled too much salt in the pot and didn’t taste before serving, because if he had tasted it he would never allow such a plate to reach the table. But I only removed 1 star because I suspect it’s a one time mistake. Next time I’m in Turin I’ll try again. For dessert we had the tarttatin and tiramisu, both good, the tiramisu is really creamy and unique with nuts which is not typical but was excellent. All in all a good experience, fair prices and lovely atmosphere.
Very well executed local dishes, which I have never seen elsewhere. Ideal order would be stuffed onion, stuffed pasta in gravy and T-bone steak. Superb flavour and attention to detail without being fussy. Service was a bit slow but the restaurant is a nice place to linger with a glass of Barolo. Lovely staff. Sitting at the counter and watching the food prep is fun and informative. Removing one star as the wine I was recommended (by glass) by the host was rather expensive. I should have asked but usually in Italy I find this works fine. Felt they were a bit cheeky, but you will no doubt be more careful than I was!
Chose this Michelin-rated spot expecting a cozy night, but got stuck outside in the cold (on a 'heated' terrace) despite empty tables indoors. Kept asking to move inside (after seeing so many people leaving and no other new customers as it was already quite late), and only after several tries, they finally budged. Food was tasty, but the hassle for a warmer seat in mid-January at 10pm? Not cool.
It was either 3 or 4 stars. 3 cause the other reviews needed some balance - The food was ok, not something special, and some dishes were even less than ok, the Vitello Tonnato, that might seems like a promising dish, was the least tasty (and fresh) Vitello Tonnato I ate during my Piemonte visit. The service was ok, every time a different waiter served us and it wasn't so clear what's going on.
