A friend of mine recommended this restaurant for dinner. We had small size of Miyabi Kaisen. It was so delicious and good portion for ladies. I want to go back and try other menus next time.

this place is located in downtown torrance. it's a real small old town feel, very chill energy and vibes, and old school charm, place is real cool. Not too crowded, the food was delicious, some of the best sushi i've ever had. we ate 4 people and the total was over $200. it was a bit pricey, but the freshness of the fish and the marinate in the rice, i don't know, it was all very magical. hahahah. try it out, i recommend it.

I love uni! Its my absolutely fave, so this post might be biased... In any case, if I had to choose, my favorite dish tonight was the toro and uni wrap, but you can't go wrong with the uni shooter! Mmmm :)

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner and we both enjoyed it immensely! We tried several appetizers including the Miyabi oysters and the uni garlic canape… both were so flavorful and fresh! Not to mention they serve pitchers of Asahi... I’d be back every week if I lived closer!

I’m visiting from Tampa and was looking for high end sushi, and I found it here. The fish was very fresh on the sashimi platter! The grilled squid was perfect and the garden salad was perfection.

The fish is fresh. The uni oyster is awesome. The yuzu sorbet was a great light finish to the meal. With I was hungrier to try more things. Service was friendly and attentive.

I'm really grateful the premier uni restaurant in Torrance made it through the pandemic. The ingredients taste fresher than ever and the staff is friendly and respectful of keeping their distance and wearing masks. Spacious outdoor seating and a big underground parking garage make this an easy place to recommend.

This place is such a hidden gem! In a cute little shopping center you can barely see off the main road that I've passed a million times and never knew was there. Some of the best, freshest, most glorious sushi and uni dishes I've ever had! Seriously try this place immediately! Beautiful interior and great service, but the food was the star!

How have I not been here? Miyabi Uni serves up amazing sushi, and they have patio dining. Uni (sea urchin) is their specialty, and it was delicious. Part izakaya (Japanese bar), part upscale restaurant, the service was great. Local, well reviewed, and supporting the neighborhood. Enjoy!

Fresh, delicous, and relatively inexpensive Japanese food. Every seafood dish, hot and cold, is handled with care. The sushi and sashimi are large portions and some of the best I've ever had (especially the otoro). Go here Tuesday~Thursday for their clam chowder croquettes with uni cream sauce, an absolute favorite of mine. Don't bother getting the kaarage, it's not marinated and not seasoned much if at all.

An uni specialty restaurant? How could you go wrong. Everything was amazing, as to be expected for a coastal uni restaurant. Nice quiet atmosphere with good sake selection and diverse menu despite staying true to the theme of uni on most, if not all dishes. Server noted that they were about to make some changes and additions to the menu so look forward to making a return visit and trying some new dishes.

I've never been a big fan of uni, but this place blew my mind! All of the dishes have some hint of uni in this creative restaurant. I went with some adventurous friends and we shared our plates to try as many flavors as we could. We had a few of the pasta dishes, some crudo, oysters, and even an uni flavored ice cream! Needless to say it was all surprising and delicious! Also, I have to mention that our server was fantastic. Unlike many waiters who say that everything is "great" our server gave us real advice/suggestions and was incredibly gracious. I'll have to go back soon.

Hands down the best uni pasta we've had EVER. We made a detour down here and made it just before lunch closing. We're very thankful they let us in since this isn't the norm. You really have to go with all things uni. I mean it's in their name right?

Miyabi Uni has some amazing food. Recently, they started a week day special on $1 oysters (Monday through Friday). The oysters were fresh and delicious. The specials also include $3 Sapporo on draft or 20% off bottled beers. The uni here is amazing. It is fresh, creamy and delicate. I had the Chef selection sushi and it came with uni sushi. We also ordered the Uni cream croquettes, which were fabulous - crunchy on the outside and flavorful and delicious on the inside. 🍣🍺🍶 For those who don’t like uni, there are other options available. We also ordered the jodori karaage, which was delicious. Customer service was attentive and professional. The staff definitely can walk your through their sake selection. The price point for the food can be pricey, but it is worth it. Miyabi Uni is definitely a great place to stop in for a nice meal. If you stick to the specials and the appetizers, you can do a reasonable happy hour.

Amazing dining experience. There wasn't a bad dish over the course of the meal. Favorites were definitely the Uni Shooter, the Garlic Canape, the Original Uni Pasta and the Risotto. The Uni Toro Chirashi was also delicious. The toro melts in your mouth.

Oh man. This place is to die for. We use to go to Maruhide before it closed. Then we started coming here since 2016 and have been coming back every year. The uni is delicious. Delicious doesn't even describe it. They have all types of dishes that have uni. Rice, pasta, sashimi, miso soup etc etc. And of course you can get other fish as well, such as toro. If you love uni, you absolutely have to come here. And for dessert, I recommended the Yuzu sorbet!

D

Are you an uni fan? Because I am definitely an uni fan. Miyabi Uni is the best go-to for all kinds of uni inspired dishes. Of course they have your staple Uni Pasta on the menu, as well as all kinds of seafood dishes, and an uni croquette to die for. I also recommend the uni shooters which has quail egg on it, from what I can remember. Incredibly fresh and delicious. I definitely would want to return and try all kinds of other uni items on the menu.

J

I had the best uni pasta dish here! Though pricey, but the umami from the quality fresh uni is incomparable! I highly recommend going with the premium uni pasta option (which comes with Hokkaido ones)! oysters are always fresh here, I often get a side of Santa Barbara uni and eat them both together.

This is a very small restaurant in old Torrance so I suggest you make a reservation in advance. The wait staff is very friendly and prompt with their service. This restaurant specializes in uni. Also their fish is extremely fresh and they make one of the best butterfish I have ever ate. It is a little pricey but well worth it.

Came for the happy hour $1 oyster, they are so fresh, did not taste a grain of sand. Also tried the yummy sashimi salad with Uni dressing for take out. It was abundant portion.

Uni/sea urchin specialized restaurant. So if you love uni, this is the go to place! And yes order everything anything with uni on it. There was one other restaurant in Gardena but they closed which I'm ok with because this one is the better priced, more generous portion, and more creative dishes. The most creative dish for me is the Uni Garlic Capane because you have the crispy texture of the toast that juxtaposition the soft melty texture of the uni with the savory taste complementing the oil they used and then topping it off with the crunchy fried garlic that brings out the uni taste even more. I love Japanese omelet. But lots of places have the consistency off making it too runny or they overcook the eggs. So imagine this place cooking the best Japanese omelet eggs and adding the perfect portion of creamy uni inside. It's like eating a delicious dream. Go get your uni! Oh and the desserts. The perfectly not too sweet but so balanced savory Japanese desserts like the ones in Tokyo. You must get the uni miso soup of course cause where else can you have uni miso soup?

If you're looking for an uni paradise, look no further and go to Miyabi Uni in Torrance. So many dishes with uni in them! What a great spot! Here's what we ordered: - Miyabi Uni Original, $32.95 (rate 4.5/5): this is their uni cream pasta that they're famous for. It's a spectacular dish - red chili spaghetti topped with fresh uni. We wanted to try the Original before we try the Premium Uni Cream Pasta, which is fettuccine with Santa Barbara uni and truffle butter cream sauce topped with Hokkaido uni for $50.25. - Uni Tamagoyaki, $15.50 (rate 5/5): this was surprisingly the dish we were most impressed by. It's so simple - tamagoyaki with uni inside. Order this. - Miyabi Kaisen, $34.95 for small (rate 4/5): this chirashi bowl with uni on top is delicious. We would prob order the large ($49.95) next time as the small was way more rice than slices of fish. Still tasted great though! - Miyabi Oysters, $18.25 (rate 4/5): a little pricey for 2 oysters topped with uni, salmon roe, and caviar, but delicious nonetheless. We will prob try the Miyabi Uni Shooters next time to compare. - Fried oysters, (rate 4.5/5): these are on happy hour menu if you go on the weekdays. Order them, they're delicious. - Fried geso, squid legs, (rate 4/5): these are also on happy hour menu on the weekdays. Delicious quick appetizer. There were so many other things we wanted to try from the menu, including the Uni Garlic Canape (uni on grilled toast), Toro and Uni Wrap, etc. Will definitely visit again if we are back in the Torrance area. The staff was very accommodating of us as well as we got there late (around 815pm) and they close on weekdays at 9pm (weekends 930pm). Ample garage parking as well.

Truly amazing high-quality sushi & sashimi. Prices near high-end, but the quality out shines 99% of the hipster beachy marginal quality sushi joints in South Bay. Well worth the money! Try the Toro w Uni or Premium Sashimi. Even the Uni Pasta Rocks the house!!! Be sure to make a reservation on weekends.

A hidden gem! The uni/oyster/fish here are so fresh and sweet! Definitely the best spot for premium sushi/sashimi in this price range. Uni shooter and pasta are my favorite. Main course Portion is also pretty big so I’d recommend sharing one pasta/donburi if just 2 ppl. We couldn’t finish both. Reservations are available on Yelp.

Went on a Thursday night, no wait at all and there were plenty of parking spots next to the restaurant. Got the happy hour day with oyster at $1 and they were good! Uni shooters are must-try items and they were naturally sweet. Fresh sashimi for the kaisen don that I had just the soy sauce was a bit salty. The pasta was good just a bit greasy, can be better. Quiet during weekdays and amazing service.

Very delicious, high quality sashimi and fresh japanese style fish. Got some kind of seafood salad and a tuna roll and cucumber roll. Imo... pretty expensive. Server was busy every second and didn't offer us water when we took our seats. We also waited a pretty long time before getting our orders taken. Maybe it was too busy? Please hire more staff. Also our table was uneven and kept rocking back and forth. Generally I didn't enjoy the experience and probably won't be back. But the tuna and salmon from the salad was delicious.

Sashimi platter was nice and fresh and everything tasted okay! But not sure its somewhere ill come back too. I didn't realize the uni oysters were that expensive. Bought a dozen and it came out as $100 for just the oysters lol definitely my mistake but other then that it was okay. Probably a little too expensive since it was about $250 for two people. Also got the uni pasta which was also okay.

H

Kumamoto and Kusshi oysters were amazing. Definitely started with dozen orders of them, raw and fresh. The donburi bowls are decent value. Got the large Miyabi Kaisen and ate to our hearts content. We were not as impressed by the uni but heard so much about the uni pasta so got it for the table to share. The prices for the donburi is worth it and their nigiris was decently good, meaning doesn't wow you but the quality is fresh and they know how to make the sushi rice (a lot of places do not get the rice right and the air ratio right especially in nigiris). The rolls were basic. Definitely will come back for fresh oysters and the donburis. The atmosphere was okay. Don't know if they are in a middle of a revamp. Definitely should look into utilizing space better, especially around the sushi bar and the bar area. The service was okay. There seems to be some anxiousness and confusions between the servers, but they were nice. We knew what we wanted, so don't know how knowledgeable the servers are on the menu. All in all, it was an enjoyable neighborhood experience.

Miyabi Uni – A Decent Uni-Themed Japanese Restaurant in Torrance Located in Torrance, Miyabi Uni is a Japanese restaurant that stands out with its sea urchin-themed decor, including several sea urchin models on the wall that emphasize its specialty—uni. The menu offers multiple uni options, from appetizers to main dishes, with choices between local uni and Santa Barbara uni. We started with the Miyabi Oyster, which came topped with uni and caviar—a fresh, flavorful bite that highlighted the quality of the ingredients. The House Uni Donburi was a generous bowl of rice topped with uni, seaweed, and vegetables. However, it also included lemon slices and chopped wasabi, which might be worth picking out some before mixing the bowl if you prefer a more traditional uni experience. Additionally, we tried the Uni Aglio e Olio Pasta, a combination of pasta, uni, and fried garlic slices. Unfortunately, it was too oily, and the flavors of the pasta and uni felt disconnected, making it less enjoyable compared to other dishes. The staff here are friendly, and the chef even personally checked in on our dining experience, which was a nice touch. However, only indoor dining is available, meaning it’s not a dog-friendly restaurant. If you're an uni lover, it’s worth checking out—just be mindful of your dish selection!

Food: 3/5 Food is acceptable. By that I mean there was nothing wrong with freshness, smell, taste, or texture, but there was absolutely nothing outstanding about it. It is the quality you SHOULD expect from any half-decent restaurant that serve raw fish. The headline item of uni is also acceptable quality, but it did not impress me. I would rank it around the ones sourced from Santa Barbara that is typically found in most Japanese groceries stores. I will concede that December is not the best month for uni. And while I do not find the price point outrageous, I should note that the large kaisen don pictured has more than my expected amount of fillers like daikon strings, salad vegetables, ginger etc. I personally despise these items in kaisen don. The tamago depresses me. Service: 3/5 The staff appeared haggard and running around, but the restaurant was only about half full with an empty patio. It seems to be a problem with division of labor. For example the servers are often bunched up near the kitchen entrance waiting for dishes to come out, and the staff behind the counter, particularly the pasta station, was working non-stop, but nonetheless the food took over 30 minutes to arrive. The politeness and attentiveness meets the minimum expected for a Japanese restaurant. Atmosphere: 1/5 The atmosphere is the worst part of this restaurant. The decor can best be described as "Ikea Afterthought". Cheap furniture, greasy table, random decoration that are all more akin to a local mom-and-pop Asian restaurant that you order take-out from than a dine-out destination. Overall 3/5. I somehow led myself to believe, from the online reviews and the price point, that this is a slightly up market restaurant worth the drive. It is not. It is acceptable for a local week night upgrade, but not much more.

Miyabi Uni is a Japanese restaurant in the Torrance area best known for serving fresh sea urchin (aka “uni”) dishes. Servers are not the friendliest type, but they are not hostile either. Set lunch is of good quality. Highly recommend the super fresh Kumiai Oysters from Baja California, and the sea urchin pastas “Uni Aglio e Olio” and “Miyabi Uni Original”.

While my anticipation was high, the restaurant fell slightly short of my expectations. The sashimi, though generous in portion size and texture, didn’t quite match the anticipated quality. I noticed an excess of fishy odors permeating both the dish and the miso soup, which may have been exacerbated by the late-night dining hour. However, the service was commendable, with staff displaying impressive knowledge of the menu items they served.

This restaurant have a cute patio and following the health guideline, you will see staffs wear mask and gloves all the time; when you enter their front yard there is a table with hand sanitizer for you to clean your hands. They also have a wet wipe for you to clean your hands before you eat and in the patio, they have incense to clear the bad air around you ( this is for those don't know what it's for). I'm very disappointed with the food and the service here. I'm a huge fan of uni so my friend recommended this place to me. I was very very excited to try it out but the food wasn't as good as I expected except the appetizer (uni toasted, it was yummy but kinda oily). I've ordered uni giri, Miyabi uni pasta, and USDA prime rib-eye steak; they all were not flavorful and contains lots of MSG. Even after 5 hours, my husband's and my throat are still dry and thirsty. My server only comes when she takes our order, gives us food then never comes back to ask how we enjoyed the food or even fill out my tea. I had to look around and asked for other staff to bring me a bill. I guess I will never go back to this place again.

I was really excited to try this restaurant. The reviews looked good. I love fresh fish. I hope they can get better, and while I feel bad writing this review. I hope they improve, I probably would not come back. First, the green tea was weak and tasted like metallic tap water. The butterfish had so many bones. Which okay, I know sometimes fish have bones, but this was an excessive amount for restaurant quality in though. I could say that the butterfish was just okay. Also ordered the chef’s choice sushi plate. Again it was okay. And the toro had a fishy taste. I fish, so I know what good fish should taste like. The fish did not taste fresh. Halfway through our meal the staff decided to start cleaning with heavy detergent making food taste like cleaning fluid. It felt like I inhaled it and it felt like I had this horrible taste in my mouth for like 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant.
