Avis sur The Seasoning House Troy
If you're not looking, you might just miss it. In the city of Troy is the Seasoning House. African cuisine. The food is out of this world. Very well seasoned and packed of flavor. It's like going over someone's house and being served right out of their kitchen. Such a good atmosphere. Great service with a smile. Everything I've had here has been a home run. They also have a fun little game where if you stop the clock at 10 seconds you get a free meal.
The restaurant was clean with beautiful, colorful images on the walls. The food was well-seasoned and delicious with a nice presentation. We also enjoyed the tasty, healthy beverages. The service was kind. Finally, the bathroom waa sizeable and clean. We'll definitely return!
I ordered the peanut stew and fufu for takeout. The peanut stew had fall apart melt in your mouth meat on the bone in it. The peanut was more savory, and not like it was full of peanut butter. Very umami. It was so good I went to the restaurant to have it again 2 weeks later. I did do some research on how to eat with fufu. Highly recommend the fufu, it was so good! Also loved the plantains and the ribs. I had the homemeade juice and that was great also. The table next to us had driven hours to get here just to eat and this restaurant, order food for the whole weekend, and go home again if that tells you something. The owner used to have a location near where they lived but moved to Troy recently. This restaurant is now in my favorites list for sure! (I forgot to take a picture of the peanut stew and fufu because I got too excited and just dove in.)
I’ve both dined in and ordered delivery from this restaurant, and every time the food has been fresh and absolutely delicious. Customer service is consistently excellent. The owners are very kind and genuinely care about making sure customers are happy. One small suggestion: the spicy sauce served with the tilapia is a bit too small in portion. That said, I appreciate that they also sell large jars of their sauces separately. It’s a great option to have at home. Overall, this place is a gem. 10/10, highly recommend
My partner & I recently came here for a date night dinner and thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate. We were the only ones there on an early Saturday evening, so were greeted and seated right away and didn’t have to wait too long for the food. The server was exceedingly kind. The art, music, and decor inside the restaurant was beautiful. The food was absolutely incredible. We ordered jollof rice with chicken, beef skewer, waakye (which came with fried fish), fried plantains, and the chicken wings. The skewer and wings came with a delicious sauce (have no idea what was in it). Everything tasted freshly prepared, well-seasoned, hot, and prepared with love. Admittedly, the style on how some of the dishes were prepared is slightly than what I had been accustomed to relative to Ghanaian cuisine (for example, I’ve always had waakye where the fish was cooked IN with the rice and stew and beans, never separately), but I thoroughly enjoyed it all the same, also understanding the owners are from Ivory Coast (not Ghana). The portion size was also VERY generous relative to the price. I personally thanked the owner/chef for blessing us with her amazing cooking. Truthfully with food this good, I was shocked this place was as empty as it was. We look forward to MANY trips back!
I enjoyed the food very much. And the portions made my 50 dollars worth it. Thank you! We also ordered take out. Use the website preferred by the seller because grubhub and DoorDash has an extreme up charge on all there prices while the website that’s preferred by the seller is a reasonable price. Not sure why but be aware.
The food was amazing! I ordered 3 entrees because my friend and I couldnt decide what to eat....I regret nothing. I hope to go back soon and buy some of that amazing green sauce.
We had the pleasure of dining at The seasoning house this evening and the food was AMAZING!!! The owners and server greeted us warmly and were so friendly and sweet the whole time. We sat outside because I brought my dog and they welcomed him and were so patient even though he was barking. We ordered the Jollof Rice, the Okra soup with fufu, African style grill chicken/jerk chicken with plantains. All three dishes were SUPERB AND DELICIOUS. The dishes came with multiple sauces which were all to die for, including the hot sauce with the jerk chicken!!! The flavors were unique and tasty without being overpowering. The chicken and meat were cooked perfectly. The plantains were a little crispy and caramelized, mmm! I haven’t had a meal this good in ages. Everything was so good that we had to try a dessert even though we were so full. We ordered the Sweetwater Millet Pudding! It was lovely and refreshing, with such a gorgeous distinctive flavor. I went inside and noticed the beautiful African art touches around the restaurant and awesome Afrobeats playing! We are only visiting the area but I honestly wish I could bring The seasoning house home with me to Los Angeles!!! I will definitely be dreaming of/craving this food. Thank you for the very best meal!!! 🥰🙏🏽🤤
WOW! If you’re looking for delicious, this is the place to go! Mattieu (owner) was so hospitable and made excellent recommendations for what to order. The jerk chicken and fried fish were so flavorful and amazing - make sure to get a side of plantains and some sorel juice!
We tried The Seasoning House for the first time and the food was amazing! We got the tilapia plate with jollof rice and the peppersoup with fufu, and both meals were so good. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, I will definitely be back soon!!
Never had been here and didn’t know about it until a friend and I attended a Plant & Sip The Seasoning House was hosting. Service was lovely, food was delicious! Didn’t get the wings but the table next to us had gotten them and those also looked amazing! Will be going back.
First time dining - food was flavorful and service was excellent. We enjoyed everything, and the ambiance of the restaurant was peaceful above all. Will definitely be returning ☺️

It was so good!!!! Me and my friend went yesterday and it was bomb!!! Very friendly helped us with the menu. We played the timer game they had up and had a blast. We will be back!!!!
My family and I recently dined here, and we were thoroughly impressed. The dishes were cooked to perfection, showcasing fresh ingredients and delightful flavors. The restaurant's relaxed atmosphere made it an ideal spot for both casual outings and special occasions. The staff were attentive and ensured a pleasant dining experience. For anyone seeking flavorful African cousine in Troy, The Seasoning House is a must-visit.
Had the chicken plate and the braised mackerel. Both were excellent. Portions are were great value!
We love The Seasoning House. All the food we've had there is excellent, and we've had pretty much everything on the menu at this point. Raissa and Matthieu are the nicest people you could ever meet, and are always careful about dealing with my wife's multiple food allergies. I encourage everyone to give them a try. You will be doing yourself a favor if you do.

Wow. Just wow. Was looking for another spot to eat home food. My first time there yesterday, won’t be my last. This the one fr. Will be back soon. Ghanaian and Ivorian flavors coming together. Just bravo. Good amount of food as well.
I am a super picky eater. This place truly is a gift. The service was warm, and kind. The presentation was also really good, I wish I took a picture. I never tried African food but I know quality food and atmosphere. The food was so uniquely BOMB! 💣 I loved everything. I highly recommend you try it.
I had an amazing dining experience at The Seasoning House with my son! From the appetizers to the drinks, everything was absolutely delicious. We started with wings, and they were perfectly cooked and flavorful. For our entrees, we had the Jerky's Plate and the Braised Lamb. Both dishes were incredibly well-seasoned and full of rich, bold flavors that truly captured the essence of the Ivory Coast. The drinks were equally impressive. We tried the Ginger Juice, Sorrel Juice, and Tamarind Juice, all of which were refreshing and made in-house. Highly recommend giving them a try! I would highly recommend The Seasoning House.
What a treat to have authentic west African cuisine in downtown Troy! We stopped in for dinner and everything was great. My partner ordered kebabs which were small but the meat was tender and delectable. I had a jerk chicken platter with jollof rice and spinach stew. We shared the sides and a tasty order of plantains. The seasoning on every thing was fantastic - and crazy as it sounds, the spinach was insanely good. I would order a bowl of just that! It was affordable, the service excellent, the atmosphere just right. Can’t wait to go back for the peanut butter stew and try the wings.
My husband and I visited The Seasoning House while out for glow night and decided to check out this new spot, as it was previously a different restaurant. The space was clean, well-decorated, with good background music, and two TVs, one of which was set up more as a monitor. Our waitress was welcoming and attentive, and the food came out quickly. We enjoyed the spring rolls, and the fried chicken had a smoky flavor—possibly from a fry-then-grill approach. However, the jerk chicken didn’t quite meet my spice expectations, and the jollof rice seemed a bit dry or possibly not as fresh as I'd hoped. I’d love to give them another try, but with so many options in the area, it might be a while before I return. Wishing them all the best in establishing themselves in the community!

This appears to be a family-owned establishment, and the owners and staff are very welcoming. They create a comfortable environment for customers and clearly make an effort to provide a positive dining experience. The fish dishes, in particular, were excellent and well-prepared. Unfortunately, during my visits, a significant portion of the menu was unavailable due to missing ingredients—at times leaving only a small percentage of items available to order. While I understand that supply challenges can occur, frequent menu limitations can make it difficult for customers to plan their meals or fully enjoy what the restaurant has to offer. Suggestions for improvement: • Consider updating the menu regularly to reflect only currently available items. • Provide customers with a daily or weekly availability list upon arrival. • Explore inventory or supply chain adjustments to help maintain consistency across core menu offerings. With improved menu availability, this restaurant has the potential to deliver an even stronger and more reliable dining experience.
First, the green sauce is delicious! The kids liked the fresh juice too. One had the lamb chops and enjoyed it very much. For me, I drove an hour to eat here and woild not go out of my way again. The rice and couscous was cold. My vegetarian daughter wanted the okra soup but they were out so she really could only eat rice. The restaurant was actually really cold and there was one server for the entire dining room- at least one more server would have been nice. More vegetarian options would be appreciated.

The food lacked in flavor, dibi/lamb was tough and dry. The chicken legs 🍗 was bigger than my hand. Jolloff rice is not supposed to have can mixed veggies in it.Rice seemed like it was made days ago some of it was crunchy. I spent $45 and was extremely disappointed. I pray they revamp the flavors and menu. Esthetically the place is beautiful and the customer service great. I've eaten at several African restaurants from all regions and this restaurant is not authentic in taste. I was hesitant to post this as I want this restaurant to flourish I hope this is constructive.
