We’ve visited Sol Toro twice this year, and both times have been great! On this visit, we ordered the guac cart and loved the option to add in roasted garlic, which was delicious. We were super impressed by the generous portion of shrimp in my fiancé’s fajitas, and my steak dish with enchiladas was delicious! The service was also fantastic. I’ll definitely continue to visit on future trips to Mohegan!
My boyfriend and I came on taco Tuesday. Katie was our waitress and honestly she was one of the best waitresses we’ve ever had! She was so informative and attentive she was so kind and friendly! She was on top of it she really deserves a raise! The food was good I got the taco Tuesday special I believe it was mexicali chicken and my boyfriend got short rib tacos. It was a nice portion size. The atmosphere was really nice and there wasn’t a ton of people when we came so it was a more intimate dining experience.
Had a wonderful meal here. The food was terrific and fresh. The stuffed jalapenos are amazing. Everything's amazing. Much better than the steak house for me personally. Definitely coming back on my next trip up this way.
My husband & I stopped in for drinks and nachos. Everything from the atmosphere, service (Will), food and drinks were very good. He got the red Sangria and I got the white. We enjoyed it very much!
It’s been 7 years since my last visit and the nachos alone are still amazing! I get them with pork but I highly recommend them all around. Wonderful cocktails and a great staff make for a memorable evenings
Got a reservation for two on a Thursday night in august 2024. The service was friendly and pleasant. Food was absolutely delicious! We got the chicken fajitas and table side guacamole. The food tasted fresh and smoky. Drinks weren’t very strong, but tasty. We’d go back here again for sure. Enhance your experience by making a reservation. It’s likely you’ll have a waiting period otherwise.
Last minute reservations to a birthday dinner, accommodated quick and to point, got a few gifts, and was pleased with their service. Food was good , campechanos and fish tacos dinner, Paloma Rosa, and Mango margarita. TY Gabi.
Kyra is fantastic ! Ask for her !! Very attentive, friendly . We had a great experience . Food was amazing ! Definitely recommend !!!
First experience and a great one. Group ordered several margaritas, the Campfire being my personal favorite. We got the 12 taco pack. Pricey, but extremely delicious. 3 chicken, barbacoa, crispy cod, and Carne asada. I can't choose which I like most, all were yummy and unique. Also shared a flan for dessert. Husband got a Strawberry moonshine lemonade that was so good! Service was attentive, the bartender was knowledgeable of the drink menu and was quick. Again, pricey, but a memorable experience.
The food was great and the prices are great. We sat at the bar and had vegetarian fajitas which are not on the menu, but they will make them if you ask. The dessert was Chipotle brownie-amazing. Marisa the bartender is great.
Our first time at Sol Toro. Our server was excellent and very friendly. We did the Guacamole at the table and was a fun addition to our meal. Everything was delicious. My only small critique is I would have preferred different seating and the whole experience felt a little rushed. Mexican is my favorite food and would highly recommend this restaurant for the food.
If you're looking for Next Level authentic Mexican food then you've found it! It is absolutely one of the best if not the best Mexican restaurants that I have had the pleasure to dine at. Servers and the management were on par and excellent... it was just a great all-around experience, and if you're looking for something really special, then this is the place to start! Fresh ingredients, very well balanced seasoning, and unique flavor profiles! Try the special cocktails if you drink...delicious! A must go to!
Our favorite restaurant at the casino! The chips and salsa are always fresh and plentiful. Today we had chicken taquitos and they were excellent. Drinks were delicious. And the tacos and enchiladas were amazing as well.
Food was awesome and fresh, ordered their empanadas which I enjoyed. There margaritas were great, managers asked as if everything was going good throughout out dine in experience, much appreciated. Visited them for my birthday, they left a signed birthday card by staff which I thought was nice! Definitely will come back again, highly suggest reserving a table online… they don’t answer the phone to well, called for like two days and even left a voicemail no response given.
This place is must! Enchiladas were so good! My husband said the steak TAMPIQUEÑA was the best Mexican dish he’s ever had! Guac table service. Spicy Margs were 🌶️. Five star food and service ! Definitely will back!
Friendly staff, great food and nice atmosphere. The staff was so friendly, and our waitress was very knowledgeable. The food was fresh and had great flavor. All the chips and salsa you want.
Stopped in for a quick bite after a convention and sat at the bar. Even though it was busy, Sarah did a great job making us feel welcome by helping me pick out what to eat. She made excellent drinks and we truly enjoyed having her as our bartender. Thank you again for the great experience! We'll be coming back for her fantastic margaritas.
This was my first time eating Mexican food and we was celebrating my wife birthday. And I ordered the pulled pork it was A+ the waiter was excellent and when they messed up on my wife meter d correctly without any problems. I I RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. THAT LIKES QUALITY FOOD MR.OUTLAW
I love this restaurant!! The food is delicious! Sarah is an amazing bartender! She's friendly, attentive, and always makes great drinks. She creates a welcoming vibe that makes you want to come back!
Sarah is an outstanding bartender with excellent customer service skills. She is attentive, efficient, and consistently delivers high-quality drinks. Combined with the great food, she creates an exceptional guest experience.
Food always delicious! I always get the chicken nachos. The margarita flight is worth the 45 min drive. Best margaritas I have ever had.
We attended a party here and the food and service were spot on! I heard Sol Toro is owned by Michael Jordan, so I'm not surprised that the chimichurri steak dish I had was top notch. I'm not sure if everything we had at the party is as is on the menu, but everything was fantastic. The guacamole was smooth and rich tasting with a perfect amount of garlic flavor. Queso dip had a true, blend of quality cheeses in it....We couldn't stop eating it. The salad was so good, I could honestly eat just that and shockingly, this particular one had no cheese on it...The dressing, which tasted like it had a slight touch of sweetness, lime juice and possibly sesame oil - was so perfect, I will try and try to recreate it at home b/c it was that good. The desserts were also something to write home about. I was fortunate enough to try the brownie, churros and tres leches...You won't be disappointed with any one of them. I would definitely eat here again.
Our first time here. Food portions were very well sized. Food tasted fresh and was enjoyed by all. The drinks were tasty. Service was on point and our waiter was very attentive to any needs we had and monitored our drinks for swift refills. Would gladly recommend and return.
Such a cute place. Great experience. Our server was friendly and attentive. The Guac made tableside was delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly and flavorful. The star of the show was the corn risotto! It's definitely on my list as one of my favorite things. You could eat it on chips, put it on your steak, or eat it by itself. Highly recommend
Went to Sol Toro last night Sept 30th. First off the service was absolutely amazing. Henry was very knowledgeable and had lots of recommendations for food and drinks options. He recommended a berry hibiscus its at mocktail that was very fresh. We started with the endless chips and salsa to snack on until I got the mexicali chicken quesadilla which was very good. (All of our food came out relatively quick) Loved the pulled chicken quality but in my last peice of quesadilla it had a small bone in it. My boyfriend got a huge burrito off the menu which was so stuffed and fresh of flavor. And my bf mother got the same quesadilla and my bf father got 3 chicken tacos and they both were very impressed with the quality and flavors of their food aswell, very fresh. The portions were huge. Sadly even tho Henry recommended all the delicious desserts, we were all to stuffed to get dessert. We will definitely be back soon!
Shout out to Katie. Our first experience with her as a waitress years ago was memorable. Recently we got her as a bartender and she continued to surpass our expectations. She acknowledged my allergy and made me feel comfortable eating at this establishment after having multiple issues at others. Food was great as well.
The food was super good and the strawberry frozen margaritas. Staff was so nice as well . Btw thank you to the hostess used her film camera to take a picture of my boyfriend and I together for Valentine’s Day. So sweet !!!!
This was a solid place for Mexican. Being from Arizona it is hard to give a place a 5 star rating on food but surprisingly good. We had the pork belly tacos and the chicken burrito. The campfire margarita was smoking with a hint of spiciness, it was wonderful. The burrito was solid and the rice and beans hit perfectly with it. The pork belly taco could have been crisper on the pork belly but flavor was elevated. Overall great experience and the people were great.
Ate here on a Saturday night for a party of 4 for my father’s 72nd birthday. When I booked the reservation I specifically indicated it was a birthday celebration. The food and atmosphere was very good. Plenty of free chips and salsa is always nice. We ordered the table side guacamole, chicken burritos and chicken chimichangas. 4 stars for the following reasons : 1) menu is small/limited 2) usually when you order table side guacamole they ask you what you want in it or if you want more onions/jalapeños etc so it’s to your liking but here they don’t ask you any of that and just make it “their way” 3) there was no indication / acknowledgment we were there for a birthday celebration despite specifically indicating it at booking.
We eat Mexican often and we have some restaurants that are our favorite, so we tend to compare to those restaurants. But this place was good! Was it the best I’ve ever had? No. But it was good, and we did like the tableside guacamole. Plus the chips were really good too! The fajitas were good-I will say the manager was amazing as I sent my meat back because it was not at the temperature I requested. She immediately rectified the situation and went above and beyond. And they brought out some cake for our anniversary. I’d definitely return and try other foods!
Definitely make reservations! And dont worry about getting a reget 2 top, for once the table was a good size. You had room for 2 dinners easy. The table side margarita was cool. Loved that it was made with fresh squeezed fruit. The tequila was really smooth. As far as it being high end food, I'd say it was pretty middle of the road. I will say, the stake in my meal was good. Chips at the table were very unevenly salted, which i know sounds like a silly thing to bring.
SolToro is one of the better restaurants at Mohegan Sun. It's family friendly and reasonably priced. Our Waitress was friendly and helpful. I honestly miss the old decor... I'm not crazy about the new decor. I will definitely be back when I'm at Mohegan Sun.
Got a bit confused on the flights as they were not mixed drinks but that was our mistake, the very nice waiter turned one into a drink for us which was very nice! The food was a 8.9/10 would definitely go back for chicken taquitos😍 and great customer service
The food was almost perfect. As a Latino, I was expecting more from the Enchiladas. The taquitos were pretty good so was the queso fundido and the dessert. The service was good. We want to go back and try other different dishes.
Sol Toro is a Mexican restaurant located in the Mohegan Sun. They serve margaritas, tacos, burritos, fajitas, guacamole and more. The ambiance is laid back with a Mexican inspired decor. My family and I went on a Saturday afternoon, right before the dinner rush. The hostess asked us if we had reservations and we didn't, but we got right in. I gather that you would need one if you go a little later than us. The place was packed with a long wait, shortly after, while we were dining. Our waiter was prompt and friendly. He brought out complimentary, two buckets of freshly fried tortilla chips and salsa; those were good but I would've loved a spicier version of the salsa. I started off with their $15 coconut margarita, ouch, but those prices were expected, given the location. The margarita was delicious, it had 1800 coconut, white cranberry juice, coconut milk, and lime juice. For my meal, I had 3 tacos which came with rice and beans. I opted for the pork belly ($18) which had avocado crema, agave glaze, and roasted pickled veggies; wow, those were amazing. It was sweet, savory, and tangy with a bit of a crunch from the pork belly. One minor criticism is, the water glasses should be taller than their current ones, since I was done with my water by mid meal. The waiter was good but he did get a large party walk in so he got busy which I get. I was able to flag him down for the water. Overall, we had a good experience with the food, service, and drinks; aside from the price, we would dine there again.
We had dinner here on a weekday. It’s not that busy on weekdays, weekends I believe it’s recommended to reserve ahead. Overall the ambience is good. We were seated inside and the food was served quickly without much delay. We loved Enchiladas and Tacos. Definitely recommend anyone in Mohegan Sun looking for a decent Mexican food stop.
Food was pretty good. Nothing mind blowing but overall tasty and met expectations. A little pricey but I get it it’s in a casino. Service was pretty slow, drinks remained empty for 10 minutes at a time, sat there waiting for server to bring bill at the end for 15 minutes or so, she kept walking by but didn’t glance toward our direction. Would return again.
I returned again for drinks today and EJ was my bartender. He made me an awesome strawberry margarita. Very friendly service. I like this restaurant Stopped in after a show. Was served by EJ. He was extremely pleasant and attentive. His recommendation on the carne asada rice bowl was great. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall a great experience and would return and ask for EJ
Was a bit nervous about what I would eat at Mohegan Sun that would be gluten free and Celiac safe, but Sol Toro was very accommodating. Almost everything on their menu is gluten free, our waitress knew right away what was and wasn't safe for me to order. The chips are fried with other gluten containing things so they are NOT safe, but they'll bring out baked chips if you ask for them which I appreciated. We had the enchiladas and carnitas tacos, both were pretty good.
Just ok. Fun atmosphere with cool looking bar and fresh guacamole carts (so good!). The nachos were good. Pork belly tacos were just ok. Meat was tough and chewy but great flavor. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back but would go again if I was already in the casino and craving Mexican.
The service was great, loved our server. The food overall was fine but I would not elect to come back here. To me, it lacked the flavors I was expecting from a Mexican restaurant. I would come back here for drinks, chips, and salsa, instead!
Guac was amazing the food was okay only reason I say that is because I ordered steak and the steak was rubbery hard to chew everything else was really good.
Couple drinks and an app while at the casino Margaritas were perfect, tequila old fashioned was awesome. Taquitos and chips/salsa… hard to screw that up so
I’ve come to Sol Toro a couple times and my experience from last year was slightly better for cocktail and food quality. The first time I had ordered the Pork Belly Tacos, tasty but grisly fatty pieces instead of carefully selected meaty pieces. The cocktails felt more crafted compared to my experience this year. I ordered the Spicy Pina it was good but was not freshly squeezed juices as mentioned and tasted as though I could’ve made that at home. The hot chips and salsa were great. For my entree I ordered the Carne Asada Bowl which I felt disappointed by. The meat I was told is cooked medium well, but there was no pink or juicy, just well done small tiny strips. The rice was a mixed rice that tasted like Rice A Roni and the cilantro mojo (not sure if it’s supposed to be a marinade or sauce) tasted like it was not there at all. I ordered an additional crema sauce on the side and that gave it some flavor. I feel like the quality could be better and a more put together presentation of this dish. Chipotle’s carne asada bowl tasted better than what I had here and this is the reason for the 3-star review. I was excited to eat here again and it was just a mediocre meal and drink. The bartender was great and provided good service. The atmosphere is awesome because it’s the casino and I enjoy sitting at the bar looking out.
Honestly, if the tableside guacamole wasn't good, Sol Toro would have scored a 1. We came here for our first time for a friend's birthday. Cocktails were pricey and not good. The food did not taste fresh, except the table side guacamole and chips. The salsa was mediocre. I had the shredded chicken taquitos for an appetizer and it tasted like it came from a school cafeteria. There was a lot of water at the bottom of my Cobb salad. My husband's beef burrito literally had only ground beef on the inside (rice and beans on the outside). It looked and tasted like taco bell meat. And to top it off, I asked the hostess at the front desk to bring a dessert with a candle and it never came. What a disappointmenting lunch.
I would love to have given a better review, but unfortunately, it was pretty bad. We started with chips and salsa with were pretty good, and the salsa had some spice to it. Then our drinks came, a titos and soda and a specialty drink. Neither were very good, and we each had just the one drink. My soda water and titos was flat and had a dry lime. The stuffed jalapeños were pretty good, and the sause was flavorful. We ordered the Gringo taco (just a regular meat taco) and the fish taco. The meat in the Gringo was more like dog food than taco meat. It was mushy and flavorless. The fish also had no flavor other than the sauce and coleslaw, which both made it edible. The rice also had little flavor. The service was quick and friendly but nothing over the top. Being that it was a Wednesday and the night before Thanksgiving it was very slow and the servers had plenty of time to do a little extra and did not. I will definitely not recommend or go again.
The food wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t the best Mexican food I’ve had. The chimichanga was disappointing . only meat and cheese inside — no toppings . Pretty plain . Overall no one in our party was impressed or super satisfied with their food. What stood out to us was how the sides were handled. We were given one small bowl of rice and one bowl of beans to share among three entrées. In none of the photos I saw nor on the menu does it state that sides are meant to be shared, so this came as a surprise. Our server explained that they now serve the sides “family style” and that we could request more as needed. However, for the price paid per entrée, it felt odd not to have the included sides plated individually. Also Having to wait to flag down the server, then wait again for more rice and beans to be brought out, is an inconvenience when you’re trying to eat. It honestly felt like a lie versus this actually being apart of dining experience…..because no other table received their sides “family style”. ( from what we observed from the tables near ours) the lack of transparency and the way the sides were served left us disappointed, especially considering the pricing. We wouldn’t come back here. Personally the only thing we enjoyed was the cheese dip and the margarita flight. Our server was nice but I wouldn’t say super attentive to the table. Drinks that were ordered we had to flag her down to remind her about because they were completely forgotten about. Overall it was a pretty poor experience. I recommend picking a different restaurant In the casino.
The seating at the high-top was comfortable, and even with the casino nearby it wasn’t too noisy. Service was fine, nothing outstanding but not bad either. The food, however, was disappointing. The fish tacos were overcooked, very salty, and had a low-tide smell. The smash burger taco special was basically salty hamburger meat and cheese in a tortilla — more like a quesadilla than a taco. Everything was over-seasoned with salt. For the prices, the quality didn’t match up. With so many great restaurants at Mohegan Sun, I wouldn’t go back to this one.
Margaritas are excellent, salsa taste like its out of a can. Ordered chicken tacos, absolutely no love just sloppy salsa over some marinade dry chicken on a tortilla.
⭐ 1 Star – Extremely Disorganized and Unacceptable Service This was one of the most frustrating dining experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered ONE chicken taco set (3 tacos with beans and rice on the side). The front desk told me to order at the bar, so I went to the bar, placed my order, and paid cash. I sat directly in front of the bar waiting for my food. After nearly 30 minutes with no updates, I asked a bartender how much longer it would take. He said “a few minutes.” I waited another 10 minutes. Still nothing. I then asked the front desk to check with the kitchen. He came back saying there were many orders being packed and mine should be ready soon. I continued waiting. At that point, I informed them that my boyfriend would come pick up the to-go order. They never gave me a receipt and never even asked for my name when I paid. When my boyfriend arrived about 10 minutes later, they told him there was no order under his name — which makes sense, because no one ever took my name or provided any proof of purchase. I had to go back AGAIN to pick up the order myself. In total, I waited over ONE HOUR for a simple 3-piece chicken taco order. No apology. No explanation. No sense of urgency. No accountability. To make matters worse, the food was not good at all. Management seriously needs to review their ordering system, staff communication, and basic customer service standards. Customers should not have to chase down their own paid order or feel completely ignored. This experience was unacceptable, and I absolutely do NOT recommend this restaurant.
