We had good coffees here, both of us liked them a lot. It must be better than 90% of the coffees elsewhere within a 1-hour radius :) We were the only guests at the time but the staff didn't give much attention to us, they seemed preoccupied by some other people visible from the window.

Very good place to eat with friendly owners. The food was freshly made and the tortillas are a lot better than the standard ones that you get in ~90% of the restaurants. It was delicious and the owner gave us some tips on what to do around here and other places in Mexico. Overall a very good restaurant and i totally recommend it.

This is a cute little restaurant perfect stopover on the way to Rio Lagartos. The owners are really nice! They speak English and accept credit or debit cards. If you ask the owner, he might be able to arrange a personalized boat tour in Rio Lagartos for you.

I've stopped here for coffee several times on my way to las Coloradas and honesty's it's one of my favourite in the state, the owners really put attention to detail to give you the best beverage, and their home made sandwiches and baguette were top notch. Be sure to get yourselves a snack or lunch before or after las coloradas. Highly recommended

We were going from Valladolid to Rio Lagartos and Las Coloradas so see flamingos and crocodiles. Stopped by for a bit of food on the way, and we were greeted by the great host Angel Chan, we had delicious food for lunch, the Burrito and the Longaniza. We hadn’t booked any tour from Rio Lagartos, but Chan helped us with that as well, because they have their own tour. On the boat tour the guide was great as well. Though in the beginning his English accent was a little hard to understand, and some questions had to be asked multiple times. But when the question was understood, the guide could answer anything and much more! We definitely had a great time! On the way back to Valladolid, we stoped by the cafe again, and had another delicious meal and a great talk with Angel Chan again about the Maya heritage and culture - it was such an awesome experience that next time we are booking a room with Angel Chan so we can get more great stories, insider knowledge and the best Mexican food in the entire Yucatán.

First of all - one of the beste Coffees I had in Yucatan so far. Real Espresso! We only wanted to stop for a coffee, but then the owner Ángel offered us to book a boat tour at Rio Lagartos with one of his employees. Usually, we are quite wary of directly booking tours in the first place we visit on the way to a touristic spot, but Ángel was so nice that we took the risk and booked. And it was definitely a very, very good decision - the tour was awesome! We had a knowledgeable guide (who spoke English very well), a private boat and paid less than for other tour offers I found online. (Tip: Be there before 10 am. The tours are much cheaper, if they can finish before noon). So if you are planning to go on a boat trip at Rio Lagartos, we can definitely recommend booking the tour here. If you are just passing though - stop for a nice coffee.

Enticed by the sign that said “real coffee”, we stopped here on the way from San Felipe to Cancun. We were not disappointed. Besides the coffee being delicious, the owner gave us great advice on sites to visit and an alternative driving route to Cancun.

We stopped here because of the bathroom sign! But enjoyed the experience of the ladies running this establishment, everything is super clean, has AC, they have regular cafe style food and drinks. They made my kids Oreo fraps, sans the espresso so basically a shake that my kids devoured. This was definitely a hidden gem and I’m super glad we got to talk to locals. If you’re on a drive to Rio Lagartos be sure to stop here for water, food and a bathroom break you won’t be disappointed.

Yucatan Reservations

Chan Café! What a surprise to find this wonderful cafe near Loche, right by the highway, located between Tizimin and RIo Lagartos! I stop there every time I go by- because they have the BEST freshly made (not machine goo) mocha frappes and really delicious sandwiches. I haven't tried the homemade waffles, can only imagine they are excellent. Everyone there is very genuinely nice, and we all know, everything tastes better when it's made lovingly, which they do there with care. They also have bathrooms, the only place with those available between Tizimin and RIo! So much care went into this establishment, is very clean, and comfy. Stop there, you will be so happy you did!

Es un pequeño patio con apenas tres mesas llevado por una pareja encantadora, se nota que lo hacen con muchísimo mimo. Nos encantó también la musica que habían elegido. En cuanto a la comida, estaba bastante bien pero para nada lo mejor que me he comido en México como decían otros comentarios.

El concepto presume ser “no pretencioso” y representar la comida casera mexicana, pero la realidad es totalmente opuesta. Los tacos no tienen sabor, son incluso más simples que un taco hecho en casa. La tortilla no tiene nada de especial, con orillas duras, y el relleno es completamente insípido. No hay nada que recuerde a un verdadero sazón casero; al contrario, compararlo con comida casera mexicana resulta hasta ofensivo. Es evidente que es un lugar pensado para extranjeros que no conocen el auténtico sabor de la comida mexicana y que pueden dejarse convencer por cualquier eslogan. Para ellos quizá sea una experiencia “auténtica”, pero para quienes sí conocemos nuestra gastronomía, este lugar no cumple en absoluto. Excelente para turistas, decepcionante para mexicanos. Edit: Mi opinión se basa en mi experiencia como cliente, que es precisamente para lo que existen las reseñas. El concepto de “no pretencioso” y la referencia constante a lo auténtico y tradicional es parte del mensaje que se percibe del lugar, y bajo esa expectativa se evalúa el producto. No se trata de que las tortillas sean “especiales”, sino de que el conjunto, tortilla y relleno, carece de sabor y sazón, algo que contradice cualquier referencia a lo casero o tradicional. Que existan muchas reseñas positivas no invalida una experiencia negativa, así como una crítica no invalida a quienes sí lo disfrutan. Como clienta tengo todo el derecho de expresar mi opinión sin que se me sugiera simplemente “devolver el plato y listo”. Una respuesta más abierta al diálogo habría sido más profesional.
