I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It’s a fantastic little cozy café‑restaurant with such a welcoming atmosphere. The avocado toast was outstanding, and since we asked to replace the egg on top, they added mushrooms instead. I never imagined that combination would work so well, but it was absolutely excellent. Truly impressive. Compliments to the staff for the great service, comfort, and delicious food.
I love LUME! New neighborhood fave. Atmosphere and waitstaff 10/10. Alfredo was SUCH an excellent server. I will definitely be back!
Overall had a nice experience. Really enjoyed the meatball and artichoke appetizers. My friend ordered the mushroom gnocchi which was rich and delicious. Chicken was fine.
Dear Lume, Your designer is a five star guy. His choices and the ambiance drew us in from the street. Your bartender maylene was awesome too. I think you should recommend the filet more. It was a fantastic dish. It does not even need the au gratin potatoes, just serve it with the veggies and you’re good. And add a pinch of sea salt on top the steak and you win. The meatball and focaccia are to die for. Best focaccia I’ve had in a while. Would even be good w just two pieces as it’s filling. Diet Coke was special and the crème brule w espresso in it was a home run. Keep doing you. You’re better than Don Angie. I hope you never get too busy where we can’t just walk back in but you will !!! Good luck Love A new fan
The best coffee and breakfast and pastries! Perfect place to stop in the morning or afternoon. Delightful service and atmosphere. A local’s spot hidden in the West Village. Great coffee - americano flat white with alternative milks. Seating options to choose from - tables or cosy booths. I would highly recommend eating or coffees from here!!! A bit of a hidden gem I would say, I will be visiting again. Very clean and great lighting.
Alfredo was our server and he was amazing!!! We got the meatball to start and it was sooooooooo good!! Then I split the carbonara and the truffle pasta and it was UNREAL. HIGHLY recommend . I got a dirty martini and my best friend got the cosmo and the drink were delicious. Couldn’t recommend this place more for a group dinner or keeping small for a date. Vibes are a 10000/10 . LOVEEE
I came in with zero expectations and left obsessed. The food was insanely good — fresh, flavorful, and worth every penny. But honestly, the highlight of my visit was the service. Nina was incredible. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. She made the whole experience feel personal and welcoming without hovering or forcing anything. You can tell she cares about people and loves what she does. Restaurants need more servers like her. Will absolutely be back. Great food. Even better service.
We came here to celebrate my best friends birthday and had a wonderful time. She was visiting from out of town and were looking for a nice chill place to have a girl dinner. Our server Johan was extremely attentive and friendly. He made our night truly special and even treated us to dessert. Everything was amazing from the music to the ambiance and food . We ordered two orders of the focaccia because it was that good!! Again Johan was so amazing and I truly appreciated his service
such a lovely place to get dinner with some friends. it’s in a cute and lively area of the west village serving some incredible pastas and appetizers. the decor and lighting inside is so cozy and intimate and also tasteful. would 100% recommend coming here for a date night or girls night.
We dropped in to try Lume for celebratory lunch and drinks. There were only a handful of guests. Drinks were tasty. I appreciated service being willing to try a lesser known cocktail for me. During our meal we realized we had been in the space before under another name. As much as I enjoyed the previous establishment I definitely give the makeover 100% approval! Friendly, easygoing feel. Food is elevated - not your standard pub fare and a real treat. Do yourself a favor and try to have dessert.
My husband and I stopped by this spot just for a short break from walking the city. Decided to have a “couple” of cocktails. I enjoy a great gin martini, but they are known for an espresso martini (amongst others)…they do a dirty chai martini! Perfectly balanced with the sweetness and spice. Fantastic!
I was very sad when Extra Virgin closed, as it had been one of my staples in the West Village. But it has been replaced by this very fine Italian restaurant that I'll be glad to frequent. The space is now cooler with a more contemporary vibe. The food is not as earthy as Extra Virgin but is more creative. The warm focaccia is maybe the best I've ever had. The meat and cheese starter was excellent. The caccio E pepe was a little short on pepe with very sharp cheese but the pasta was perfectly cooked. Sat at the bar with great service and all in all was a perfect dinner. Bye Extra Virgin. I no longer miss you. I've been back twice and have enjoyed it very much. Sit at the bar for cocktails and focaccia and cheese. You can't do better for a snack and a drink.
What a great addition to the neighborhood! The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered the Truffle & Garlic Focaccia, Rigatoni Burrata pasta and Spaghetti Allá carbona. It was absolutely delicious and every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the sauces tasted fresh and homemade. Our waiter Alfredo was excellent, friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed. He ensured everything was perfect throughout our meal. Highly recommend, and I’ll definitely be coming back!
Recently had dinner at Lume with some friends and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end. The service was great, ambiance was perfect and the food and drinks were delicious. They did not rush us and let us enjoy our time which is so rare for restaurants in this area. The standout for me was the meatball, one of the best I’ve ever had. The pastas did not disappoint- we went with the cacio e pepe and the short rib bolognese. The scallops were fresh and the peppercorn sauce on the steak was delish. Lume is lively and fun! What a great addition to the west village and I can’t wait to return.
Lume truly exceeded expectations with its impeccable service and incredible atmosphere. Our server, Alfredo, deserves special recognition, he was not only attentive but genuinely warm and made the entire dining experience feel personal. The manager, Nayara, was equally impressive, overseeing everything with such grace and professionalism. His diligence and kindness elevated the evening, ensuring everything was perfect from start to finish. The food was delicious. The ambiance is ideal for a cozy date night or a fun evening with friends. Highly recommend making a reservation!
Enjoyed the experience. Food was good and the service was great. Thanks to Danny.
Among the beautiful streets in the area, there are incredible places like this one that you can discover while passing by or by searching on Google. In this case, a lovely restaurant with a calm and cozy atmosphere, a perfect place to enjoy eating something delicious while sharing a great conversation with someone or among friends. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the food is very tasty, and it's all complemented by the lovely space. I highly recommend it.
My friend and I were unable to get into the initial restaurant we had planned for one night and stumbled upon this gem where we had a great dining experience. Upon arriving around 6pm, we were not greeted very well by the host. When we walked in, neither girls said hi or welcome but instead immediately asked do you have a reservation with a tone. Despite this, we were able to be seated immediately at the bar. The waiter and bartenders who took care of us thereafter were very attentive, kind, and helpful. We ordered the carbonara, wagyu carpaccio, and the truffle and scallop dish, along with a lemon drop martini and a margarita. Both cocktails were excellent—fresh, balanced, and full of flavor. The carbonara was rich and comforting, and the wagyu carpaccio was beautifully presented and melted in the mouth. The truffle and scallop dish had great depth of flavor, though the scallops were just a bit on the salty side for my taste. Overall, the meal felt thoughtfully prepared and the atmosphere matched perfectly for a relaxed night out in the West Village. Definitely worth a visit, and I’d love to come back to try more of their menu!
It used to be called "Extra Virgin". This was our first time since it reopened under a new name. We booked online since we were a party of six. The food was OK but not great. The "Squid Ink Linguine" had a strong line after taste. The "Calamari Frito" was really good, definitely you should order it. The rest, just OK. We had the "Branzino", "Carbonara", "Provenzana" and the "Burrata Caprese". The "Carbonara" was a bit small portion. The staff and service was good. However, the place was a bit dark (you need to use your phone to read the menu, at least at our table). Tables are small and not a lot of space, so it was a bit uncomfortable.
I will share that our waitress was superb. If the food matched her abilities, this place would shine. Don’t you get sick of being told that you must go try a place and then you find out it’s just another mediocre restaurant serving mediocre food and you wonder what is it that we don’t see. Was it just an off day? Well, no. I always make sure my team orders different items and we must get desserts. The Caesar salad was limp and tasteless. The BURGER-we couldn’t finish. Something off putting that was on the bun. But the real scream was the focaccia with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar-egads a mess and so what if it had some slivers of aged ham. Not one dish did we finish. The fries were not hot, not warm, but just ones that had been sitting back there. But let me repeat- the waitress was very good but I think she realized something wasn’t right because not once did she ask- HOW WAS IT? But the most disappointing thing was the torta merringata which in Italy I love it. Here, let’s say this, you aren’t missing much. The design of the restaurant has a great lighting fixture over the bar. If you are disabled, getting to the restroom might be a challenge. Luckily, I hadn’t picked the restaurant but I did pay the check. For lunch it wasn’t that crowded. Maybe, at dinner they pick up the pace. I don’t know. In Italian lume means light or lamp. I guess because of the light fixture I mentioned. If it symbolizes something here, I don’t get it.
I came here after seeing so many videos praising the ambiance, and while the space was nice and the staff was friendly, the overall experience fell short of expectations. Service was slow throughout the evening. We waited a long time for our waitress to check in after the initial welcome, drinks took a while to arrive, and our food came out lukewarm, as if it had been sitting before being served. Unfortunately, this took away from the experience, especially since this was meant to be a birthday dinner. I noted on OpenTable that it was a birthday, but there was no acknowledgment at all, which was disappointing. I understand these things aren’t guaranteed, but a small gesture or mention would’ve gone a long way. The food itself was okay, though not memorable for the price. I also wasn’t aware the carbonara used an Italian-style bacon, which threw off the dish for me personally. Overall, not a terrible experience, but not what I expected based on the hype. With more attentive service and better pacing, I think this place could be much better.
We started our meal with the fried calamari and grilled octopus. The calamari batter was light and cooked to perfection, simply amazing. The octopus on the other hand was overcooked giving it a slight rubbery texture. The sauce and potatoes that accompanied the octopus were perfect. For main dishes we ordered the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe, Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, Rigatoni Alla Provenzana, and the NY Strip. All three pasta dishes were undercooked perhaps another minute or two and they would have made it to al dente. The portions were also smaller than expected. The Cacio e Pepe was dry and overly peppery even for this dish. The rigatoni dish looked and tasted like it was sitting while the other dishes were being prepared. The NY strip was cooked more medium than what I ordered, medium rare. The steak was covered with a tasteful pistachio crust however the steak itself was lacking some salt and pepper. The restaurant itself was perfectly decorated we really loved the lighting specially once it got dark out. They dimmed the lights and brought out candles to the tables. It was unfortunate that the food didn’t complete our special occasion.
