I LOVE A&W. It is a yearly event for us to go to the ones in Lake George NY and Wilmington NY (near Lake Placid). Good food, wonderful cold root beer, great family nostalgic atmosphere

I was in town for two full nights and 3 days total- I went twice. Best root beer. Phenomenal simple burger. The chicken tenders can’t be beat. I have been thinking about this food non stop since getting back home- looking forward to my next 6 hour drive up. This will be my first and last stop.

I’ve been to several A&W locations before, but this one in Wilmington, NY truly stands out. From the moment we walked in as a family of three, we felt warmly welcomed. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and even arranged the table to comfortably seat us. Our server, Hannah-Joy, deserves special recognition—she completely understood the assignment when we asked to split the bill three ways. She grouped our orders flawlessly, and everything arrived without a hitch. The food was just what you’d expect from A&W—classic, satisfying, and served promptly. The restaurant was also impressively clean. The team was already tidying up the moment we stood up, showing how much they care about maintaining a neat and pleasant space. Great service, great attitude, and a clean environment—this A&W location nailed it. We’ll definitely be back!

Eating at this place feels like a bit like traveling back in time! They have indoor and outdoor seatings. The hamburger and hot dogs are yummy! Of course you have to order the root beer float! It was very refreshing. Service was friendly and inviting! If you are in the Wilmington- whiteface mountain area you should stop by for sure!

This one surprised me! The food was awesome! I had a double bacon cheeseburger with special sauce on the side and cheese curd and it was fantastic! We had classic rootbeers, in frosted mugs and it was great! The onion ring were on point and the service was perfect, definitely go and bring the family, it was a great surprise! If your looking for a good burger, honestly it's better than anything in lake placid.

Going to this location in Wilmington brings back memories of when there were more than one A&W's in the ADK Mountains. This one is still family owned and seasonal, and the staff is super friendly, and the food is as good as ever. Get the fried cheese curds and a made on site root beer. Both are phenomenal.
