Avis sur Rice & Beans Woodside
Amazing Brazilian food! Had pastel de queijo as starter! Amazing! As main course I had Picanha! Really tasty and juicy meat! And the caipirinhas were great!
My parents and I visited NYC 2 weeks ago and had delicious dinner at Rice X Beans. I love the cozy interiors but the weather was gorgeous so we ate outdoors. The servings were generous and the food was so good! I highly recommend that you start with some of their delicious appetizers. We had Pão de queijo (cheese bread) and pasteis (chicken empanadas). My parents ordered feijoada for two and it was amazing! Rich flavor and loaded with chunks of meat. I ordered seafood moqueca and it was so tasty and creamy--great color and tons of seafood. We also enjoyed some awesome craft cocktails made with cachaça. Staff was very friendly. We'll visit again.
This is such a great place - so much so that I’ve been twice in the past couple weeks. The caipirinhas were excellent - they offer a variety of fruit flavors but the traditional lime were my favorite. Great food as well. The frejolada was awesome - as good as any I’ve had in Brazil - as was a chicken stroganoff and seafood stew we had. I’ll definitely be back!
Quintessential Brazilian and then some. They have the meat & know how to prepare it. Of the 3 of us, 2 of us decided to try out their offerings for vegetarians. You have to try it to believe it. With both Brunch & Fixed menu, I expect this place to be a regular choice for us among a sea of options in the same area.
We loved this place! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The music, while a little loud, provided nice atmosphere. Portions were ample, and the prices felt very reasonable. We went on a Sunday evening, and I was shocked that it wasn’t busier. The passionfruit mousse was great, but all the food was tasty. Go here!
An incredible experience for anyone looking for an authentic taste of Brazil at a reasonable price. Staff were welcome and knowledgeable and we're happy to sorry my dietary requirements. Service was relaxed and friendly, and made us feel totally at ease. An incredible night in all, we'd happily return knowing the value for money in a competitive part of the city.
Food was amazing and plentiful and the staff was accommodating. Definitely recommend! Went for a business dinner and while accommodations for 10+ people were tight - they made it work and everyone left happy and full.
A great experience from beginning to end. Nice service (special thank you for the birthday cadle and song!!), Great tasting food (tasty, cooked with care and time - the great stew (Carioca Picadinho), with the delicious plaintains, the delicately garlicky rice and great beans wow! - in generous portions too!) A cozy place and - what is rare in NYC - a good sound level and comfortable sitting, allowing for discussion around the table! RECOMMENDED!
My palate was challenged in the most pleasant way. The restaurant maintains a simple, pleasant vibe. The staff demonstrate excellent service skills. The cuisine reflects genuine tradition. I'm looking forward to returning to this restaurant.
Granted I went for late lunch on a Wednesday but I loved the decor and ambiance and most especially I loved the food. I swear I have never met a moqueca I did not like, this one is no exception. Their moqueca do mar is full of fish and seafood, rich flavors I absolutely love it, It’s my favorite dish! Of course can’t go without caipirinha which is so classic as well. Will come back when I can but Brazilian food in New York does not disappoint ♥️🇧🇷
Really great restaurant!! The food was absolutely delicious and the place has a nice vibe to it. Always good to find a fabulous location away from all the hubbub on 8th and 9th. …but close enough to get back to the main theatre district and such if one needs to catch a show. Totally recommend.
Rice X Beans is definitely my favorite restaurant in NYC. If you’re Brazilian, you’re going to feel like you were back home. If you’re are not, dont worry, you’ll taste Brazilian cuisine and I am sure you will buy the next flight directly to Brazil. The food is delicious, the ambiance is perfect and the caipirinhas are amazing! The whole team is just fantastic and a big obrigado to Tati who has always been nice and helpful. Cannot wait to eat there again! Sending love from Paris, Bruno.
I am in no way an expert in Brazilian cuisine. This is actually the only Brazilian restaurant I often go to and visted..BUT if THIS is was Brazilian cuisine is then count me in. We ordered the Estrogonofe de Frango multiple times and it's consistently delicious. It's creamy, soupy and great to dip in the white rice and thin potatoe chips that are served with the dish. We also ordered the Carioca Picadinho. Which is a beef stew accompanied by white rice & beans, fried plantains and farofa. So tender and succulent. Also, do yourself a favor a put a bit of their hot sauce on there. I honestly don't even have words to explain how good this food is. It's like home cooked would be an understatement. Definitely get the drinks during Happy Hour, sooo worth it. We tried the Caipirinha (which is a Brazilian drink) and the Margarita. We went during late lunch so it wasn't busy. The one server at the restaurant was amazing. She was wiping down tables, taking orders and answering our questions. We spent $70 (not including tip) for 2 people. Yes, it was Happy Hour so we spent a bit less for those drinks, so I highly recommend you do the same. This is one of the few places where that price is SUPER JUSTIFIED. This place knows how to do food right 👍
If you’re looking for authentic Brazilian food in New York, Rice X Beans is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed into a warm and cozy atmosphere that feels like a little slice of Brazil. The décor is charming, with a relaxed yet elegant vibe that makes it perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. Outstanding Service The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, making sure every guest feels at home. Whether you’re new to Brazilian cuisine or a longtime fan, they are always happy to offer recommendations and explain the dishes. Affordable Prices for Exceptional Quality For the quality and portion sizes, the prices are very reasonable, making this a great spot for both locals and visitors looking to enjoy a fantastic meal without breaking the bank. Final Verdict: A Must-Visit! Rice X Beans delivers everything you could want in a dining experience—delicious food, excellent service, a welcoming ambiance, and great value. If you’re craving authentic Brazilian cuisine, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!
Very nice experience here— I recommend making a booking in advance as it got packed during peak dinner hours and the restaurant itself is a bit small. I liked the variety in food, including vegan options which is why we decided to give this restaurant a try (for my friend). Meat and non-meat, all tasted delish!
Portions were decent. The staff are nice. The portions were generous. I had some leftovers of the mini feijoada. I didn’t love the the signature cocktail but that might be personal preference. The bathroom had an air dryer but no towels or easy way to open the door without using hands. We found the passion fruit mouse to have a gritty consistency.
Second time here for the seafood moqueca! Delicious but be careful not to choke bc they leave the skin on the squid and its super stringy/chewy/long. Nearly happened to me twice and it’s not very attractive to peel it off when you’re eating with company 😅 But overall food is yummy, servers are friendly, music is bossa nova mellow, drinks are reasonable prices. They gave me a chocolate snack at the end of the meal.
We always enjoyed coming to this restaurant. In two recent visits, though, we noticed an increasing deterioration in quality. While the picanha was decent (albeit sligthly bitter), the estrogonofe chicken had a weird texture and taste. The drinks, which were always a strong item on the menu, had no sugar. When we pointed this out, we were given a tasteless syrup to add to our drinks that did nothing to improve its sweetness. Finally, a new c. $6 fee imposed on any shared item, alongside a colder reception from the staff in general, hurt the overall sense of conviviality and friendly brazilian atmosphere that in the past brought us to the restaurant multiple times. Very disappointing.
One of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had. The waitress was extremely rude and began speaking to us in a confrontational and embarrassing way in front of other customers, which made us feel very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the food didn’t make up for it. The coxinhas tasted like they were fried in old oil, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste. Overall, a very disappointing visit.
