What a wonderful dining experience! As always the tortillas were delicious and the beef fajita meat was tender. The food was excellent but the service was even better. Jose was prompt and pleasant. He made sure my drink was never empty and had a smile throughout our meal. Uncle Julio’s has a great reward program (check it out if you haven’t). Buzz the manager helped us with our ticket and he was super! Roberto came by to check on our table and had us laughing. The team here is great.
I love the Guadalajara, but I decided to get the ceviche because I wanted something light. It was pretty good. I had the spicy and original salsa and they taste pretty good together. Brian was my server and he was so patient and kind even though it was close to closing time. The lady that made the guac was kind too! Check this place out!
The best Mexican restaurant in town!!! We’ve been to Uncle Julio in Allen and also the soft opening location in Frisco, they’re both extremely great! Clean, yummy food and drinks. On top of that servers and managers come check on us several times. Best customer service of all. Can’t wait to go back!
The food was delicious. I had the Tortilla soup and 2 chicken fajita soft tacos. My wife had the Ceviche with shrimp, also delicious. Our server Adam was attentive, and helpful in helping us choose on what food to order.
Uncle Julios is the best for authentic Mexican food in its Tex-Mex cuinsine fashion. I visited the location in Allen, Texas, and the atmosphere was lively. It's the weekend, and Texans, we're out braving the Texas cold in January...Lol The food was delicious and perfect. I had an appetizer quesadilla (steak). For dinner, I had the Tacos Plate (steak & chicken). Heres a question for you. What is just, as good,as great food? And the answer: Great people and great service, of course. Uncle Julios restaurant in Allen, TX is the place for great service and food. Thank you to the service staff for your superb service. Special thanks to staffers: Omar, Jorge, and Alfredo ... for awesome service. Also, thank you to the friendly management staff. I recommend you visit Uncle Julios in Allen, TX.
Fantastic Mexican food. Steak fajitas prepared to perfection without tortilla made from scratch. Get the melted garlic butter to dip everything in. The bacon covered shrimp are amazing as well. The jalapeno margarita is a spicy treat for the taste buds! Recommend getting reservations most nights because it gets busy!
We went to Uncle Julios on a Friday around 7.45pm and there was a 30-40 minute wait for a party of 2. We decided to make a reservation online at the next available time, which was 8.15pm and we were seated at 8.15pm. The server immediately brought chips and salsa while we waited for our waiter. Our waiter, Righteous came to us with the cutest smile and got our orders. We waited about 15 minutes before getting our food and it tasted very good. We ordered the chicken and medium well steak fajitas for 2 and the serving was a good portion. I ordered the margaritas for the month and it was one of the best margaritas I have tasted! Overall, it was a good experience, great food and amazing waiter!
We enjoyed our 11 year wedding anniversary this past weekend by enjoying dinner at Uncle Julio's. The food was great and the service was even better. I thoroughly enjoyed the pineapple margarita, and my husband had A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' IPA. The ambiance was nice and soothing with candles on the table, and the lights lowered. We started with the queso blanco recommended by our serve, and it was quite tasty. I enjoyed my enchiladas and taco, by far the chicken enchilada was the star of my plate-the refried beans were delicious too. My husband enjoyed the fish tacos that came with black beans and cilantro rice (the regular rice was better to us). We will definitely be back with the kids to order the chocolate piñata filled with churros and fresh fruit. I think $35 is worth the experience, but I couldn't bring myself to order it without the kids.
Both the host and waiter were very pleasant and made us feel welcome. Food was good and a manager stopped by to check on us.
Uncle Julios is ALWAYS good no matter the time of day or night. It's a great place to meet folks and has a HUGE inviting fireplace all the way back on the RIGHT end the restaurant.
Just moved to TX from NYC and this was one of the first places we visited. Being huge foodies we value a great meal and exceptional service. Uncle Julio’s did not disappoint! Thankfully we made a reservation, it was a very busy Saturday night and there seemed to be a lot of people waiting so definitely book ahead if you don’t want to wait a while. The restaurant was very clean and the entire staff was wearing masks and following COVID restrictions. Our server was friendly and efficient. He made great recommendations and I wound up ordering the Guadalajara fajita. It was scrumptious! My husband and father both had aged skirt steak fajita and could not stop raving about it. Will definitely be back.
First time checking it out. Everyone was friendly, service was quick and the food was uniquely good. Salsa had a smokey taste, table side guac was great, drinks were just boozy enough, and the food itself was delicious. Our server, Laura was super friendly and attentive - would come back just for her service! Overall, won us over and we will be back. (Sorry, started eating before I remembered to tale pics!)
This place is huge and ambience is awesome. A perfect fine dine place serving some good authentic Mexican food. Vegetarian food is clearly mentioned as vegetarian . Servicd is awesome the refills are always before time. Tried cauliflower bowl and shrimp tacos . Both were good .
I love the colorful decor of Uncle Julio's. So much to look at! Warm inviting fireplace on the patio and festive music make a pleasant environment to dine. My server was very friendly and attentive, the manager made a point to stop by, great customer service. The salsa has a nice roasted flavor. I got the Tex Mex Combo, it was delicious. Served with a chicken and beef enchilada and a crispy taco rice and beans. 🌮 Everything had a very good flavor, I really enjoyed it. Que the food coma. 💤
Uncle Julio’s catering was phenomenal for our office of 50! Manny was incredibly kind, organized, and made sure everything was set up perfectly and on time. The food arrived hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious — everyone loved it! Truly a seamless and tasty experience. Highly recommend for any group!
We have come to Uncle Julio’s twice for the Taco Bar Tuesdays. It is really fun to assemble your own tacos. Both the beef and chicken are savory and worth trying. The flour tortillas are fluffy, while the corn tortillas are thin and firm. Margaritas are awesome. The watermelon one surprisingly has very strong watermelon taste, quite refreshing. Too bad it was last month’s special, but the mixed berry one is great too. The service is always outstanding.
Visiting again.. the restaurant is really good and the service is super fast. Must try the guacamole here it's really fresh and tasty. The cheese enchiladas, fajitas, chips and salsa everything is really good. But they are pricey menu. Their desserts are great but didn't order that. As I was already full
I was a little hesitant in trying this place because of the rating but it didn’t disappoint! I got the steak street tacos and the wifey got the chicken bowl. Both were really good…and the tres amigos was great! Peter our server was fantastic and attentive. This may become our favorite…even tho it’s pricey.
The wait was not long although they had a steady crowd and full restaurant. The chips and dip was delicious. The food was plentiful and filling. I highly suggest asking for the jalapeño ranch dip. I ordered a three soft taco meal and it came with beans and rice for $14. I would definitely come back. (Side note: my husband said some of the chips tasted funny to him but I didn’t experience this. I did see a few burnt chips and maybe that’s why he said that…) Otherwise it was a good aesthetic and great food and great service for me personally. I also appreciate the pay at your table technology.
Taco Tuesday Taco Bar is must have!! All the ingredients for a build-your-own Taco is brought to the table on a spinning tray. Toppings on the tray were fresh and cold, lettuce was crisp, and the meats (beef and chicken) were seasoned well and hot. As visitors to Texas from Michigan, we asked a local for a suggestion for tacos. They raved about the Taco Bar and were right on every point! Highly recommend!! Although we didn't order it, we had the opportunity to watch the guacamole cart roll up to the table next to us and prepare fresh guacamole tableside. Very unique and looked delicious!
Miss tge red sauce they used to have. Their salsa is good but the red had a little more heat!! Food was fantastic. Had a beef taco, beef enchilada and a pork tamale dinner plate. Has guacamole and Pico with it and rice. Definitely full now!! Lol
We just finished eating at Uncle Julio's in Allen, and it was hands down the best Tex-Mex experience we've had! If you go, definitely stop by the bar and see Omar, or ask for Peter as your server. These two are legendary in the DFW area for their exceptional service. When they're working, you'll almost always find a wait for seats in their section, and for good reason!
I’m not sure what the 4 star ratings are all about. It isn’t authentic Mexican and isn’t trying to be. The tortillas are amazing, the fajita meat is smoked and yummy, I love their chili con carne sauce for their enchiladas. Charro beans are great, rice is yummy when mixed with the beans. Queso and tortillas is addicting. Great ice tea. It’s a big commercial chain so if you are looking for some small cafe that has a little old grandmas recipes this isn’t it. But that’s ok. It is good and their offering leaves you satisfied.
Good food, good service, good atmosphere and good music. It was difficult to select something from the menu because everything sounded sooo good. After deciding on my order, i wasn't disappointed. 🥰 The beer there is also good.
Marissa, the manager on duty provided excellent hospitality. We went for a family gathering; also celebrating Veterans Day. She was quick to welcome us in, thanked my great uncle for his service, and support our waitress. The food was good but heavy on the cinnamon… not my preference. Otherwise, the food was good and the service was as well.
I haven't been here for probably 15 to 20 years, it was before this Stacy road was really built up and uncle julios stood mostly on its own. Wow, it's so pretty inside! Mom remembered it fondly so she picked it for a meetup. We ordered beef enchiladas, fajitas, and the nachos especiale. Everyone enjoyed their meal, the flour tortillas were nice and fluffy, with the fixings tasting freshly made. The waiter was very very patient with us while we waited for our 3rd person. Loved the interior, the grand chandeliers, the tall romantic fireplace and welcoming bar area. Wouldn't mind coming back.
his place is consistently a staple with amazing food. I usually purchase the combination fajitas with steak and chicken, but this time I purchased the steak only. It’s always enough food to split the meal in half and enjoy the rest of the food later. Every entree comes with beans and rice as well. I opted for black beans without pork. It was delicious. I’m happy I can go to any of their locations and have the same great food. I can’t wait to go back! The service was great as well
Went in for brunch on New Years day and had a great meal. Brandon provided great service in the bar.

Went to eat this Tex Mex when in Dallas. Pretty late and they didn't make us feel rushed. I ate about 1000 fresh hot chips and the salsa was next level. I ordered the fajita trio by recommendation …

My husband made reservations for a Friday night birthday/anniversary dinner. Although they lost the reservation, they sat us pretty quickly. Kinda busy, so the service wasn't quite top notch, about a 10 min wait for drinks and chips. Another 10 to get our food orders. Food came out fast! Drink refills were fast. Everything looked and tasted amazing. Definitely a save of a possible bad evening. We watched the 321 frozen margaritas being made at another table. It was a fun night. Combo fajitas, 1800 margarita, margarita of the day!
We went here for my hubby's birthday dinner. The restaurant is conveniently located inside Village at Allen. Loved the ambience and the interiors. The dining hall is huge with grand furnishings. Since we made a reservation, we were seated immediately. We started with the famous in house margaritas. I got the fresh grapefruit margarita and hubby got the smoky mezcal. Both were phenomenal. Though we both liked the grapefruit more as the mezcal was a tad too spicy. We got the new street tacos for dinner. Mesquite grilled steak was really delicious and flavorful, though i would recommend to add a little less cheese to get the balanced flavor profile. Mesquite chicken was okay. The rice and beans it came with was great as well. Our server was quick and really attentive throughout. He even gave us a complimentary Chocolate bite snack after the meal as a thank you. Really appreciate. Overall a really good place to hang out on special occasions. A nice tex mex in Allen.
We liked UJ, while Allen location was closer to our home and we visited frequently, we preferred Keller Spring UJ's fajitas beef which was perfectly cooked 100% of the time. Other than that, Allen UJ was just as great. Husband often ordered Margarita Swirl with his meal and we'd always share a chicken or beef fajitas. We both loved the bacon wrapped shrimps. When on Keto diet, we would substitute tortilla with lettuce which UJ had no problems to help us with. Thank you for that! Tried their recent additional El Martillo (bone in beef shank), two people portion was plentiful and very tasty. Service consistently good. Will recommend.
When you want to celebrate a birthday - Uncle Julio's does it right! I went to Uncle Julio's for the first time with my girlfriend to celebrate her dad's birthday. Upon arrival, I was very impressed with the architecture (looks somewhat like a castle)! The interior design was exquisite and culturally immersive. Their food is also on another level! Their salsa was fantastic, their drinks looked very well crafted and their entrees are spectacular! I asked my sister's brother what's good to eat and he immediately responded with the fajitas. They had various options for fajitas, so we decided to go with 1/2 chicken & 1/2 steak with all the sides (for 2)! When they brought out the food, I was taken aback by how much food it was. Our party ordered so many fajita platters that it covered the table. Everything was so delicious! The fajitas, rice, beans, guac, onions, cheese all cooked to bliss! They have this specific butter that I think was just called Mexican butter that they had with the fajitas (😋). It was joyfully mouthwatering - next time I'll order an extra one on the side (yes, it's that good)!! They also have a dessert called the Chocolate Piñata that we didn't get but got to see. It's worth ordering just to break open! My girlfriend has been to Uncle Julio's a number of times and would care to share some thoughts (for that reason, I would trust her opinion more than mine): "I have grown up eating at Uncle Julio’s and have always loved this Tex-Mex chain. They have gone through some rebranding recently, but one thing that is hasn’t changed and is always amazing is the fajita platters! You cannot go wrong ordering this, especially if you enjoy sharing food with others. This time, we ordered 1/2 chicken 1/2 steak for a little variety and the skillet came out steaming hot with grilled onions and peppers with a flavorful butter melting on top. It comes with guac, sour cream, cheese, pico, and flour tortillas (which are my favorite part). I will always enjoy this restaurant and look forward to the sopapilla platter for dessert or the chocolate piñata occasionally for fun with a large group!"
I went there on Thursday and I called ahead for a pick up order. This review is primarily on the staff and the manger on duty. I would give them 10 stars. There were a few things wrong with my order, however the manager and waitress were sympathetic and did everything possible to right the wrong. Because of there level of customer service, I'm definitely going back. As far as the food, the chicken Cobb salad was so fresh and delicious.
We were here for dinner on March 17th. They were out of beer on-tap and several types of bottled beers. We had to settle for weaker beers. Very disappointing. They were also out of salmon. The food was ok. Not very flavorful and somewhat dry and the portion sizes were small. I felt like they gave us kids meals. The highlight of the evening was their queso. It was probably some of the best I've ever had.
I'll start with the great service from Jose. He was perfect! He took our drink orders immediately and was there when we were ready to order. I really like the ambience, especially the Holiday fireplace. The Uncle Julio Gold Margarita was small and mostly ice, but really good! My friend got the fish tacos and said they were great. My cheese enchiladas weren't very good, but still would recommend the Restaurant!
3/16/22: Stopped by for a birthday dinner. Party of four, and two ladies were visiting for the first time. Glad we made a reservation, to reduce the wait time. Kelsi was our hostess and she was great! She was very attentive, apologized for the delay with our food, and was super pleasant throughout our dinner. She kept checking on us to make sure we were ok. The El Jefe Margaritas were pretty good and the beer was cold. The food looked good and was hot. The kitchen was slow, but it was worth the wait. Ample parking and we had a table on the patio, next to the fire pit. 2/17/24: We sat at the bar. Kate was a great bartender and hostess. We had chips and salsa while our order was being prepared. The bar area and the bathrooms were very clean. The food presentation was great, and arrived piping hot. There is ample parking in front of the restaurant.
The staff was very friendly and the service was good. The food was also good but I’d say slightly over priced. Three tacos was $18. They did mention that the chips and salsa are made fresh daily but truthfully it didn’t make a huge difference compared to other Mexican restaurants even though it was good. We went durning a less busy time and it was kind of loud so I’d imagine peak hours would be very noisy. Definitely a good visit but not a budget friendly meal.
Lunch was awesome here. Quesa Birria app was big for two of us. Could be a meal for some people and had a small guacamole on the side.
Upset that they got rid of the sour cream chicken enchilada, However the service I received from Peter was immaculate. Top tier service we never ran out of drinks chips and he was helpful with the menu in a way that shows they knew about the food they served . It was insanely refreshing to have such high quality service.
This is a solid Tex-Mex restaurant! Food is very good and full of flavors you want! Not greasy or oily if fried, not swimming in sauce either. All the dishes our party ordered were great! The guacamole made fresh at the table is always a nice touch. Any thing that comes with Habenaro Pineapple salsa, get it! So good! El Jefe margarita is the only way to go! Delicious! Will for sure make this a stop when I am in the area again. Check it out and don't fill up on chips.
My server was great but they've changed their menu got rid of the Nachos Especial. The best nachos! I loved the fajita steak! Now they have what is called Supremo nachos with no meat are now $23.25…

This was my first time at Uncle Julio's restaurant in Allen The view from outside the restaurant is beautiful with a welcoming architecture. One very important note to the management. The very thorny cactus like bushes on the side walk leading into the restaurant is a law-suit waiting to happen. I got poked by it and so did a fe others following me. The bush has gtown into the sidewalk and is very dangerous (see attached pictures). For young children walking or running can easily get poked into their eye and can possibly seriously hurt them. The bushes need to be removed!! The ambiance inside the restaurant is awesome, neat and clean. Servers are jovial, well mannered and prompt. The sq footage inside the restaurant is a lot which provides for a comfortable seating arrangement where each table or booth is not close to one another. Food: We ordered cherry soda which was awesome. Almost all the dishes we ordered smelled of stale or burnt or over used oil making each bite difficult to swallow. The sense of freshness of food was hard to find due to the overpowering smell of bad oil. Quantity per dish was a bit less compared to the other restaurants and also for the price of each dish which is about $5 more than similar compared dishes in other similar restaurants. Chips and salsa were good. I am hoping that the bad tasting food was just this location. My review rating involves major points for food any serious concerns like the cactus like thorny bush at the entrance (see pictures) and the price for the portion size and food taste. With all that I cannot give more than 3 stars for this location. I am going to give another try to Uncle Julio's at another location and there will be another review. But I possibly won't be visiting the Allen TX location (any time soon).
My work had our Christmas dinner party here the other night, and we received the absolute BEST service. Our server was so accommodating with our requests, but sadly I got food poisoning from the Chicken Tamales that I had ordered. I checked the tamales that I had taken home, and the chicken was VERY pink.
Docking a star due to the fact that everytime I've eaten here our food has been messed up in some way. Last time, our fajitas were severely undercooked and raw. This time the chicken tortilla bowl had completely undercooked rice and hard tomatoes and gauc that looked like baby food on top. Staff was super nice but it seems like the chefs need to fix their food.
Really a great restaurant. The overall service was good, though the front end employee could have been a bit more friendly and greeted us when we came inside. Also after we finished our lunch we had a uninvited guest at the booth, we found a small bug on the wall. Didn’t complain though as we were almost about to take off. Food was really good.
Its a cool place, menu looks amazing and food was ok, service was very slow and considering place was half empty it was hard to understand why. Food could have been great if it had not been served cold, it was clearly left waiting to be picked up for too long so the delay in serving was likely not in the kitchen. Would have sent back if we were not already very late due to their delay and had to get back to work.
If this review was based solely on the food and “atmosphere” I would give it 4 stars; however, this location is SO busy… wait times are excessive even with a reservation (seated 20 min after our designated time). Also… random — but the kitchen door has an excruciatingly annoying squeak every time it is opened (which is constantly) that could be heard throughout the entire restaurant. Some WD40 might do it some good? 😬 SERVICE: Our waitress started out being attentive and then didn’t show up for the last half of our visit. She did apologize which I appreciated but waiting around another 15+ min after finishing dinner for a to go box was tedious. Wouldn’t recommend visiting on a Friday evening due to how busy and most likely short-staffed they are. FOOD: The chips were tasty, salsa was a universal kind of yummy. The platinum swirl margs were good but the size was disappointingly small for the price. Fajitas were really good minus the three small choking-sized pieces of bone hidden in multiple strips of my chicken fajitas. In all, I’d give this place another shot but would plan for a weekday instead of weekend visit! And pleaseee fix the squeaky kitchen door.
Food was good but waited 32 minutes to order, another 30 minutes to get our food, and 20 minutes to get the check. This place was only half full. Don’t come here if you are on a tight schedule.
We’ve dined at Uncle Julio’s for dinner within the past year and the food was great, however this evening was a different experience. We arrived between 5:30-6:00 pm. The dining area was not crowded and we were immediately seated. The hostess was very nice and friendly and made us feel welcome. Once seated, it took 10-15 min for the server to arrive to take our drink order. While waiting for the server to return, we began to smell something weird - like sewage. Not sure where it was coming from and he had no idea either. We ordered enchiladas, chicken fajitas with Mexican rice and a margarita trio flight. The enchiladas were good but the chicken was dry and bland. I reordered the same dish and it was no different. The server apologized and removed the items from our ticket. Needless to say, we will not be returning.
April 12, 2025 ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ Had a nice dinner at Uncle Julio’s in Allen with my wife, where we shared the Beef Skirt Steak fajitas 🥩🌮. The flavor was absolutely amazing — from the sizzling fajita meat to the fresh salsa 🍅🌶️. The prices were fair for what we got, and overall, we really enjoyed the meal. That said, our server was very slow 🕰️. We had to ask for refills and even some of the basics that normally come without needing a reminder. It was a bit frustrating, especially since the restaurant wasn’t that busy. Another thing that stood out was the sign outside. It didn’t even read “Uncle Julio’s” — the missing letters made it say “Uncle Ju” instead 😕 (check out my pics for reference). On top of that, the bottom of the N was lit up in red neon instead of the standard pink 🌈. It might seem minor, but a business’s presentation matters. When a place lets something as visible and basic as its signage go uncared for, it reflects on the leadership and attention to detail 🤔. If they let the visible things go what about the things we can’t see? Great food, but I’d recommend they improve on service speed and stay on top of the little things — like keeping their sign in working order — to make the full experience match the quality of the kitchen.
Firstly, it took us 30 minutes to be seated and there were plenty of vacant tables available, so I suppose that they may have been short staffed once seated our waiter was very courteous, but was often forgetful or slow as well. The food was actually taste. Really enjoyed myvodka base drink, but most of all enjoyed the salsa and the beans were everything
The tamale, chips & salsa were excellent. The rice was not good, tasted like it was from a box. Charro beans had a good flavor, but were not cooked well, they were very hard. I would come back but …
When we arrived we were seated far back by the restrooms which was plenty of empty seatings upfront and the drinks were watered down everything were just ok
The family came here for a fun lunch and we enjoyed ourselves with the drinks and food, plus very fun atmospher.

Had very high hopes for this place since everytime we've passed it, it has smelled amazing. We were so disappointed! Waiter was awesome. Food was flavorless and my husband's skirt steak was almost raw, and he loves rare meat, but what they served was ridiculous he had to send it back. Strawberry Margarita was yummy. They ran out of cold Corona bottles. We were so happy thinking we had found a great Mexican restaurant to add to our list. Sadly for the food and price we won't be back.
We ordered online for pickup and it said it’ll be ready by 18:07. It’s already been more than 30 minutes just standing in line waiting for the food. The moment I walked in, they said they’re “bagging our food”. This place takes forever and they’ll never see us again. Food was ok. Atmosphere was the winner.
Used to be a top favorite of mine…. Have been to this location over 30 times…. However the last two times service, food quality, and presentation has become hugely lacking… tonight (Tuesday night) service was super slow, even though not much was going on in the restaurant…took forever for drinks and queso to come out! Queso was already cold and hard when it hit the table… then fajitas also came out cold with zero sizzle to speak of (in fact meat looked dry as though they had sat under the heat lamp for a while)! Chocolate piniada came out great….otherwise not much else went right….oh and with all lacking items ticket still had 25% gratuity on it for 4 people!??? 🤷♂️
We've been to Uncle Julio's dozens of times at various locations. Many a time we've had poor service, but the delicious food always made up for it. This time, the service was fine, but the food was downright terrible. The tortilla chips were thick and stale—definitely not fresh-made. The steak fajitas came out looking as if they were boiled, rather than cooked in a pan. There was no char or crust, they were medium-well, and the portion was much smaller than normal. They tasted like sour vinegar. All the tortillas were undercooked, with parts of them raw and sticky. We split the serving for one, and asked for extra tortillas, as we always do, because they only give you three. This time, they charged an extra $2.75 for the three extra tortillas. That's nearly a dollar per tortilla, sticky dough and all! Criminal. It's extra dumb since they're advertising that you can order 12 tortillas to-go for $2.99. Needless to say, we won't be coming back to this location. Probably not to any other, either, unless the inane tortilla charge is isolated to this one spot.
Man I love Uncle Julio's but I hate coming to the one in Allen when it's even remotely busy. Everything falls apart. Had to wait for 15 minutes to get drinks (water not bar). Food took absolutely forever (nearly 45 minutes). We were so over waiting for food and hoping our waiter would pass by so we could get refills we left without bothering for dessert. You're absolutely losing money because of simple service and the basics. I hope they fix it soon, there are far too many options around that do it better.
Friendly service was the only thing they had going for them. We got sat and the table looked sticky. Server was nice, he came by every few minutes to check on us. The food was OK, nothing to get excited about. We both tried fajita plates as that's what's advertised as their specialty. My pork was dry and the sauce was a bit sweet. My wife's beef looked like mush. The cast iron plates were hot, but not sizzling. With Tex-Mex dominating area eateries, the bar is kinda high and this place missed.
What in the world did you do with the Eldorado tacos? (deep fried tacos) my family is in love with these where did they go and why? Find something you love there and they get rid of it. Been going for years now found the best tacos and you all get rid of them. (Not cool)
Waited 15 min with no service after we were sat, had to ask bartender for service. It was not busy, I watch the young manager checking leaning against the hosted counter checking her phone, multiple servers wandering around talking but no one making sure people were served. Then we were brought a bowl of chips that looked like the bottom of the barrel, certainly not big enough to dip in the salsa. Food was good, the bartender Will saved the day with good service and drinks.
We were seated in the midst of several dirty tables, they didn’t get cleaned the whole time we were there. We asked for a cup of queso and got served and subsequently charged for a bowl. I want to say it was the queso blanco... I was not a big fan, I consider myself a queso lover but it was very thick and hard to eat much of. We asked about a dish with agave queso on it, the waitress asked if we would like to try a small bit of it, I said sure. There was no talk of being charged for this sample. It came out on the ticket as $1.99 The dish I got was not that great, I wanted to like it and it had lots of good sounding things on it, but it just wasn’t meshing together right. The cilantro rice was not cooked right, many of the grains of rice were hard almost crunchy. Also lacked any real flavor. At the end of the night, it felt like we got overcharged for food and atmosphere and it just wasn’t worth it. Probably wouldn’t go back.
Eaten here a few times previously and it was fine. Not amazing but fine. This time, everything was pretty bland and lacked flavor. The rice needed more cilantro/lime flavor and the steak was bland. I feel like the price is pretty high for food that’s not above a 3 out of 5. Most likely won’t be back.
When I walked in to pick up my order for $60, I stood there for 10 minutes and finally had to hunt someone out of the kitchen to get my to go order. When they brought it out and we got home there were no tortillas and no rice and beans that we ordered with our fajitas. The ticket even says rice and beans taped to the bag. We kept trying to call but the phone number just hangs up on you. So my husband drove back up there. Ridiculous. Ever since moving to Allen, we have yet to have one place get an order correct, except Whataburger on Stacy Road. That’s really sad. Please do better. People spend their hard earned money at your business.
The service was great but the food not much at all. We end up, leaving our plates because the Birria tacos were nasty and burnt. They had no taste at all.
This was an extremely frustrating pickup experience. I placed a to-go order, arrived, and was directed to the pickup area — where no one acknowledged me for several minutes. I returned to the hostess stand and was told someone would help me, yet I continued to be ignored. Another guest arrived after me, was immediately acknowledged, had their name taken, and received their food right away. I was still standing there unnoticed. When I was finally acknowledged, I gave my name and had to wait again, even though my food should have already been ready. The restaurant was nearly empty, staff were standing around, and I was on a tight schedule. This level of disregard is unacceptable.
Ok so its nice on the inside, they first seated us by the bathroom that smells like sewage then at a both that had a big puddle under it. Then brought chips n salsa, salsa not very good. Not authentic Mexican food. I got the queso birria just don't order it not tasty and it comes with very bland coleslaw of all things. My daughter decide to try i think like a chimichanga but whatever it was it was made with egg roll wrap. So needless to say it was all disappointing and we will not go back, and it is very high price and not authentic. It is a mexican restraunt for people who don't know better. Our server was good.
Was very disappointed in my lunchtime visit to this location. When the tortilla soup showed up immediately, noticed there were about 5 to 6 pieces of chicken in the entire bowl. Going further, the soup was very bland lacking any kind of seasoning. And the top it off, it was only lukewarm. Onto the combo, while the basic flavors were there due to the tomatillo sauce, it also lacked any kind of salt and pepper seasoning. And to continue the trend, the food was also lukewarm. And what made it even more disappointing, after speaking to two of the employees about it, and being told, the manager would be told and asked to come to my table, manager couldn’t find any time to show up.
We dined in the restaurant last night and upon arrival we were told that the wait time was 30-45 minutes due to the restaurant only having four servers. We finally were seated and after we ordered food we had table side guacamole and the preparer of the food was the bus boy who was cleaning tables. That should have been the clue to leave. Two tables that were seated after us were served their food before us. We ordered the honey shrimp and bacon wrapped and the bacon was under cooked. I ordered steak quesadillas and the portions of steak were almost nonexistent. We were very disappointed with our decision to eat there. I would not recommend this location for dining.

Uncle Julio’s has lost his touch. What happened to the yummy flavor of the home made tortillas? Chips were stale, server took for ever to take our order, restaurant decode and dining needs work done, 2 of my orders were wrong, whole beans were undercooked, rice was way too crispy. Tacos already were swamped in lime juice so my food was terribly sour. It’s just not the Uncle Julio’s I remember 😔.
The worst dining experience. From management down to staff is rude, discourteous and entitled in how they treat patrons. I would never recommend this location to anyone. I attended a luncheon at Uncle Julio’s Allen with about 20 other ladies. We were given one server for our entire party who was rude, discourteous and would disappear for long periods of time. When I approached management with feedback about this issue, he stated that our party “trickled in”, thus his decision to only give us the one server. That was his entire response. Please note, most of the party was at the restaurant within 15 minutes of the reservation time. Regardless, this was unprofessional and unhelpful in our current situation. After that, the waiter became aggressive and started slamming down drinking and throwing checks. When I asked him to please stop he started exaggerating his movements to set things down slowly, so as to mock us. I haven’t had a dining experience quite like this. I won’t be returning. When I asked the assistant manager for the GM email he told me he was the GM. When I asked him for a regional manager’s contact information he gave me a fake email address.
So the place looks beautiful, it was clean. We ordered food we had a table of 10 So it took a bit. I had the barbacora and it didn’t look nor tasted like it it was not good I had like 2 bites and the tortillas were not even hot I got flour tortillas. My boyfriend had the beef enchiladas tasted like tomato sauce the rice was dry and not tasteful. The restaurant wasn’t even busy and our server took a while to come fill drinks. Never coming back oh yeah I came from a hour away !
I had to order the chocolate piñata multiple times, and we still never got it while we sat there for over 30 minutes. When we finally checked the receipt, it wasn’t even listed—meaning it was never put into the system. The service was absolutely awful. Our server barely came by, and we had to ask for our drinks more than once, which is ridiculous. They didn’t bring out the drinks until we were literally walking out the door, so we had to sit back down just to get what we ordered in the first place. And to top off this disaster, a rat ran into me as I was leaving. Completely unacceptable and disgusting. Overall, a horrible experience—this location is absolutely not worth your time or money.
We visited this location on a Saturday evening. They seated us very quick. + When we tasted the salsa - no flavor - that should of be a given that our food was not going to be good. We order enchiladas, steak quesadillas , quesa birria , tamales , rice & beans plus drinks. Food was tasteless . Women’s restrooms were dirty . We had to ask for refills 3 times. Food needs a lot of improvement.
One of the worst restaurants I've been to in DFW. There were so many things wrong that I needed a list: -Our booth had dirty seats with food left over from the last guests. -We were given ice water in a glass that was cracked in half and somehow wasn't leaking. -The chips were drenched in oil. We notified the server and they told us the oil dripping off of the chips was because they were "fresh" (they were cold, so I wouldn't consider them fresh). We asked for new chips anyway, which also came out covered in oil. After raising the issue again and getting a 3rd basket of oil drenched chips, we decided to take our queso to-go and use store bought chips instead. -The server was almost non-existent. Our empty water cups weren't refilled even once and it took 10+ minutes for our order to be taken after sitting down, then another 10+ minutes to get the check after we were done eating. -They're priced like a high end restaurant, but you can get better service at a McDonald's. (Our bill for two was $75)
We made a 6:00 PM RSVP for a family of four and even arrived about 10 minutes early. By 6:25 PM, we were still not seated. When we asked the host for an update, she said that everyone was booked at the same time and they were understaffed. If the restaurant is understaffed, then why offer 6:00 PM reservations at all? When we first checked in, we were told it would “just be a moment.” Had we been told upfront that it would actually be another 15+ minutes, we would have left earlier and made other dinner plans. The lack of transparency was frustrating and made the reservation feel pointless. Disappointing experience, especially when dining with family. We left and will never go back.
We ordered takeout from Uncle Julio's for a birthday dinner, something we've done many times before. Our pickup time was 6:45 PM, but the ticket on the bag showed the food was prepared at 6:08 and 6:18. When my husband arrived, they employee had difficulty finding the order, and when she brought it out, said it had been "up there for a while." She wasn't kidding - everything was stone cold. We had food for 10 people and had to spend 30 minutes reheating it all. How embarassing! This has happened before, but this time was the worst. I filled out the online survey that was sent to me afterward and explained the issue, but never heard from anyone. Why ask for feedback if you don't care? This was on November 1, so there's been plenty of time to respond. For the price and the tip I add, the quality and service were extremely disappointing. We won't be ordering from here again.
Went on 12/30/25. I was so excited to go. We have not been in awhile and it is one of my favorite places. Started out ok, but my friend ordered the Tortilla soup. It came cold and probably no more thana cup of liquid in the huge bowl. The chicken was hard as well. Got another bowl. Even LESS liquid soup. Maybe a half cup. Still cold. Sent it back and got Quesadillas. She was charged for the more expensive Quesadilla even though it was a replacement for two bad bowls of soup. Had to get the manager involved to get that fixed. I ordered to go and "typically" the provide chips and salsa with a to go order, but nope. None. Very, very disappointed.
This was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had in years, and unfortunately, it had nothing to do with the food itself. The service was extremely poor. Our waiter appeared to be very new and clearly unfamiliar with the menu. I don’t understand why someone with no real training would be left alone to take orders without proper support. Because of this, our experience completely fell apart. We never received our full meal. I managed to eat some fajitas, but the tortillas never came back after the first round. Basic follow-up was missing entirely. The spicy salsa was bland and oddly sour. The restaurant itself felt neglected. It needs cleaning, better organization, and significantly better staff training. Management clearly needs to step in. This was our first visit, and it will also be our last. I won’t be returning.
Disappointed in Cleanliness We are normally big fans of Chewy’s, but decided to try Uncle Julio’s for lunch today. When we walked into the lobby, we noticed the air vents near the entrance had visible dirt buildup, which immediately made us question the overall air quality. Because it was such a beautiful day, we chose to sit on the patio. Our waitress was fantastic — very attentive, friendly, and quick with chips and salsa. She did a great job. Unfortunately, the cleanliness issues continued. I had already finished one glass of tea and was halfway through my second before I noticed how dirty the glass was — the inside of the glass was visibly filthy. Not fingerprints on the outside, but buildup inside the glass itself. I even wiped a smudge away with my finger. It was clearly not properly cleaned. That completely turned us off and we lost our appetite halfway through the meal. We asked to speak with the manager to show him the glasses. He apologized and said he appreciated us letting him know, but the response felt less than sincere. The food was okay. The service from our waitress was great. But cleanliness is non-negotiable for us. Based on this experience, we won’t be returning.
Ordered to-go online directly from the Uncle Julio’s website at 5:00PM. Confirmation e-mail said pick-up would be ready at 5:25PM. Walked in at 5:25 and spoke with the hostess who said she would be right back. After 3-4 minutes she came back and asked if the order could be under a different name. I showed her my confirmation e-mail and she left again. A few minutes later another employee said they were bagging up my order. 15 minutes later my order was brought to me. 25 minutes late, 1 hour after ordering. Too busy could not be the excuse because since I had extra time waiting I counted the customers in the restaurant and there were a whole 16 people dining, When I got my order to my destination they had not given me the rice and beans that are included with the meal. My destination is only a five minute drive from the restaurant and sadly the fajita meat was cold. Needless to say my family and I will no longer dine from this restaurant.
TRIED to eat here tonight. As we were ordering a big old rat was running round the dining room. It was very comfortable and had been there for awhile. We told the waitress. She said she would get the manager...after several minutes manager never came. We went elswhere..
My wife and I have been going here for 5 years together, but tonight was the last time. It was one of our favorite places to go and now the food and service have really declined. We went tonight again hoping it would have gotten better and the service was the worst its ever been. The food portions are smaller the menu is smaller. Sorry to say everyone, but of you want to wait an hour for your food then go somewhere else. Pappasitos is way better. Try that instead.
Food quality was bad. Rice was very undercooked! No body could eat it. Churros were too oily and had a white cream inside them with a weird taste. Everybody tasted and rejected. Fajita did not come with Tortilla! They forgot it. I called them and spoke with the manager and he said the best they can do is refund for guacamole - which has nothing to do with the Fajita dish. (It surely costs less for them to refund for guac). Won’t be back.
I am absolutely dismayed by the decline in Uncle Julio's standards. My husband and I have been loyal patrons since the 90's, but the recent experiences have been consistently disappointing. The cleanliness and food quality have not met our expectations. Today's meal was not up to par, and we noticed five tables that remained dirty for the duration of our hour and a half long visit. Despite hoping for improvement, it seems that the issues persist. The only positive aspect of our visit was our waiter, Koen, who demonstrated exceptional professionalism and kindness. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit. It's evident that the restaurant is no longer the same.
