Delicious food and drinks, great ambiance! I had a pesto pasta dish for lunch that was to die for with the garlic bread and an espresso martini. My husband had their bolognese and really enjoyed it. He is a tough critic when it comes to bolognese so that is saying something. We will definitely be returning.
A nice place, with nicer food an the nicesd vibes! Wanne have a real italian experiance in NYC, this place got you! To top it of the italian weaters like our beautifull Vincenzo wil serve you the best wine with the biggest smile!
Friendly and attentive service, good food, and a cozy space
I ordered takeout last week. I thought i'd have time to cook but i'm so glad i didn't even bother- bc the fish was perfect, the pasta so flavorful, and the sides of cauliflower and zucchini were done well. Italian delivery is easy to be disappointed by but was so pleased with the whole meal. looking forward to visiting in person.
Update: Now Botte is the #1 location for visiting friends and family. Experience the best of New York in one meal. The owner was there and graciously explain the origins of each dish we ordered. I rarely leave an Italian place feeling so good after appetizers, drinks, our main course, and dessert. EXCELLENT!
I had a lovely time sitting at the counter bar at Botte. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. The cocktails were well made and the dinner was delicious! I recommend starting off with the bruschetta. 😋
This gem in Astoria must be experienced. In a small, cozy space they deliver exquisite food and a great selection of wine. With their expanded outdoor space it has become a go-to spot. The seafood pasta special with a glass of full-bodied Chianti (MONTE PULCIANO) was amazing. Their desserts are heavenly...even if you think you are too full to eat another bite - order a dessert!!
Came here for drinks on a Tuesday night at 10:30 pm. Great atmosphere and service. The place was fairly busy considering the day and time but it was still not too loud. Really enjoyed the purple negroni here. Also ordered a beef carpaccio which was simple yet the ingredients seemed really fresh and high quality
Comfy & cozy. My wife & I tried it for the first time last night but will def return! Pear & gorgonzola arugula salad was delish, as were the cocktails, lasagna Bolognese & cheesecake. Friendly & attentive service rounded out a great evening.
I ordered from here about a year ago and it was fine. Decided to try again tonight and made a risky choice with the carbonara. Generally more often than not a disappointment when ordering from restaurants. That being said… whoever made that carbonara deserves a raise now. Immaculate doesn’t even begin to cut it. The sensory journey I embarked upon after eating my first bite was riveting from start to finish. Got it delivered (via UberEats) and the carbonara I received looked like it had been completed mere seconds prior. Don’t normally review but had to in this situation.
Just moved into the area with my fiance, so I thought we'd check out Botte. Couldn't have had a better night. Food is fresh, flavorful, not overpriced. You can tell it's made with care. Just what I like for Italian food - simple, handmade, quality ingredients. Good vibes from the staff. Mariano's the guy. I can see this becoming our spot.
Love this local spot! Very cozy and the food is delicious. Loved the carbonara!! Everyone there is extremely hospitable and attentive. They make great recommendations and make you feel right at home. This area has needed a great Italian spot and this is it!
Great new spot in Astoria - delicious food, great drinks, and perfect atmosphere for having a nice Italian meal. The owners are actually from Italy and are really cool guys! I've already been there several times and will be back more!
Delicious food! We had a lot of fun trying several courses on the menu. Italian owners are wonderful in getting around to every table explaining the recipes and making sure everything is well. Definitely going back!
I like Bottle Bar, I've been here several times the food is great, the drinks amazing, however this time my friend and I stop by only for drinks; we did not know what to drink but Valentina super friendly came to us offering a list of drink that we enjoyed few drinks but my favorite was Made Ya Blush. Thank you Valentina for attention, we'll be back soon!!
My go-to date spot with my fiance. Beautiful atmosphere (with a small TV showing old movies with VHS... very cool) with great service. I highly recommend the pastas. They never miss.
I’m from the neighborhood. This is the best restaurant in the area!
Delicious food & refreshing cocktails. I can’t wait to come back and try other items on the menu! I passed by so many times and only sat down and ate here recently. It has a nice ambience as well! Definitely would recommend to a friend.
You would be hard pressed to find a better atmosphere, more delicious pasta, or a more well crafted cocktail anywhere else in Astoria. Combine that with the outstanding service everyone there provides, and you have yourself a hidden gem in Botte Bar. One of my wife and I favorite restaurants and one we come back to again and again. Now that they are opening a location on Ditmars even closer to us, we will most definitely be enjoying the intimate atmosphere even more frequently! We hope you will too!
This is cozy restaurant, not big, but, the food is delicious! The cocktails are unbelievable, and the staff is really nice! I went the first time, and keep going back! I give them five stars!🤩
Stopped in this excellent restaurant last week and was very impressed. Amazing food, lovely decor inside and outside. There is a tent outside on the sidewalk where you can eat. I was served by the owner Francesco was so nice and friendly! The food was amazing! I got the baked salmon special with mashed potatoes and zucchini and loved it. If you’re looking for some good eats in Astoria check Botte Bar out! They also have a good cocktail selection.
This place is a hidden gem. The food is outstanding. Feels and tastes just like the fare at the little local haunts that I'd stop at for aperitivo or dinner when I lived in Italy. Everything is fresh. Staff is fantastic. The owner acts as a waiter. It's a very genuine, neighborhood place. I've been several times, and the quality is consistent. Whatever olive oil they are using is the nectar of the gods, actually fresh and high-quality. I am shocked that this place hasn't had some massive write-up published, exploding its popularity. I'm selfishly glad because we can always get a seat, but Botte Bar deserves the credit and the business!
Finally a proper Italian gem in Astoria. This has everything you're looking for in one place - delicious food, service that is warm, welcoming, and attentive, and a joyful, bustling atmosphere (Special thanks to super friendly Vincenzo that toke care of our party). Thumbs up for the outstanding red peppers bruschetta which was divine, as well as their truffle ravioli special. I enjoyed the cod fish cooked in parchment paper for my entree - properly made seafood feast! we will definitely be returning, and make it a regular on our rotation.
Great spot! The heaters made sitting outdoor comfortable and warm, service was great and the guys were friendly! Food is great and the portions are decent! They also have full bar and draft beer. Thank you for making it possible to dine comfortably during the NYC winter in the middle of the pandemic! Check this place out!
A must, to Botte Bar, it was the greatest experience I have shared with my family and friends. We celebrated my daughter along her husband's wedding event with a Beautiful evening dinner. The food and service was wonderful. My family enjoyed the music and atmosphere of such a beautiful place. From my family & I, we all THANK YOU BOTTE for an amazing unforgettable experience De corazón! Tammy 🥂
Food is delicious, service is even better, and great atmosphere. A couple of friends and I shared the Octopus Carpaccio and Charcuterie Board, I had the salmon and mashed potatoes special. The octopus and salmon are must haves. Salmon was mouth watering, fresh and delicious. Call ahead Friday and Saturday because it gets pretty busy!
Botte Bar has a great choice of wine and the ambience was cozy but clean. Fabio, Francesco and Valerio were amazing and for it being the opening day, the expediting of dishes was on point! Highlights of my meal was the soppressata di polipo, a tapas like dish made with thinly sliced octopus, topped with olive oil, crushed black pepper, arugula, and pomegranate. The pomegranate was a delicious pop of brightness and sweet and the octopus itself was tender and perfect. The tagliatelle alla bolognese was delicate and beautifully done. The bolognese sauce was spectacular and the ribbons of pasta was stunning in texture. I had that with the meatballs, which were perfectly portioned and melt in your mouth delicious! Overall, the food shines at Botte Bar and their flavors pop!!! I am so excited to come back and try different dishes. <3
THIS RESTAURANT IS BEYOND AMAZING!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Octopus and beef carpaccio ♡ oysters ♡ their triple cheese pasta with truffle was so good I had to pause to enjoy its existence with each bite. Our waiter Rodrigo was super attentive... our bartender franchesco was on point with his cocktails. Perfect date spot ♡
Botte bar is amazing, we got an old fashioned, a dirty martini, and a new drink they just created which doesn’t even have a name yet (it’s delicious). Love coming here for a cocktail and to chat with their amazing bartenders especially Lenim and Davide :) they recommended the new drink and it’s so good! Wish I could give this place 6 stars!!
Quaint, homey, trendy all in one. So small it feels exclusive. The drinks are all top shelf. The servers are attentive. I challenged the bartender to make me a surprise drink... he nailed it with my favorite tequila and hints of elderflower! It was fresh and boozy! The pasta was perfectl! Practically priced and portioned appropriately. Would definitely recommend. Just not for large parties! Lol
Great atmosphere. Small, cozy vibe. Excellent service. Delicious food.
I have been coming to Botte in Astoria for about three years since I moved to the neighborhood. For me coming here is often the highlight of my day as I know I will be welcomed with a big smile, and many times, a warm hug from Alejandro who takes great care of everyone who walks through the door. The food is excellent, the cocktails top notch and the vibe is buzzy and friendly. So easy to find myself in a conversation at the bar with new friends. Highly recommended.
We visited Botte Bar for dinner while we were in the area. It's a cozy restaurant with a spacious bar and an incredibly friendly staff. The ambiance was unique, with music playing and a charming stack of old VHS movies available for patrons to play on a tiny tube TV at the bar. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. Although our dinner took longer than expected to arrive, the staff's excellent customer service shone through when they brought us two complimentary glasses of wine to apologize for the delay, even though we hadn't mentioned it. This was the best meal I had in the area.
The food is always great, their bartenders and staff are always friendly, they have a wonderful and creative cocktail menu and they make a good espresso The outdoor seating is chic and they always have a fun movie on the small screen I've brought friends here from out of town and they've loved it too
Love this place! It's a nice homey feel. I've been here a few times already and each time I love hearing the specials - different each time! Every dish has been delicious to the point where I'll use the bread to soak up every last bit of sauce. I also like the portions. It's always filling and never too much, but just enough. It's also really nice to find a place with outdoor seating AND heating. They're is also wine, beer, and mixed drinks! You can't go wrong coming here! Last time I went we had the carbonara, fettuccine gamberi, penne alla vodka, and chicken alfredo. Delicious!
Food was so good! Went early to avoid crowd but also it’s a super small restaurant so best to book in advanced. Fried zucchini tastes like it’s cooked in bacon lard. So good. And the sauce is spicy mayo. Lasagna bolognese. Made with béchamel sauce. So yum! Octopus with potato on a bed of arugula. So tender and juicy.
Our go-to restaurant in Astoria when we’re tired after a long day at work. The warm light atmosphere is welcoming, staff are so friendly, food always on point and delicious, and we can sit on a table on the roadside with our dog. Great spot to take a guest to if they want to experience a classy neighborhood staple.
I love this place! It's adorable, the staff is great, the drinks and food are great. I wish their apps menu was more robust but it's still completely worth it.
Came here on a Friday night with my friend to have dinner and a couple drinks, we sat at the bar and the food was delicious. The service was impeccable and the drinks were amazing, definitely my new fav place. We were served by the bartender David who prepared for us some of his special drinks, the espresso martini was the best I ever had in my entire life, Salvatore was the server who helped us through the entire night, both of them so nice and polite
Stopped by for the very first time this past Friday and boy did they not disappoint! I had eaten previously at the location in Astoria, but this one is bigger and the food is just as delicious. I’ve attached photos of the two excellent dishes I had. As always, you can tell they use very high ingredients, which always makes this a treat each time I go. Bravo, Botte Bar! ❤️
Cute place with really friendly staff. The service is impeccable. My friend and I tried to limoncello spritzer which was a good but strong cocktail. One thing to note is that Suppli is similar to Arancini if that's what you're looking for as an appetizer. The pasta was portioned well and delicious, I definitely had a food baby after eating here.
A wonderful locally owned Italian restaurant. Every pasta they have is fantastic - just simple with delicious ingredients and impeccably prepared. It's the place we tell friends about, and is the default order in option for a fancy Covid date night. Always friendly staff, great cocktail selection, and also weirdly the best UX on a PDF menu I've ever seen. Best to go with friends and share so you get to try more things.
We had a really lovely experience here! They have a nice outdoor area, basically a three walled patio that felt very open and covid-safe, while also sheltered. They had lots of heaters, which actually kept us quite warm while eating. The food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. Portion size was nice and small. Staff was so friendly! Would definitely return.
Food here is amazing that I just can’t stop once I start to have a little taste of it. I’m a picky eater which I can get tired of food easily, so I don’t usually finish an entree in one shot. This is the first time I finish the entire entree in one meal. It’s just TOO DELICIOUS! The atmosphere here is really good and I felt really enjoy and relax in the same time. Staffs here are also friendly. Would totally come back again and again.
We came here for birthday and had an awesome dinner. The Cesare salad was fresh and light, and paired perfectly with the garlicky toast. The Paccheri alla vodka was creamy sweet, and we also ordered a Cacio e Peppe with a delicious bite of pepper. When you can make relatively simple ingredients taste this great, you know you've come to the right place.
We've been looking for new places to try in the neighborhood so I took the family for my son's birthday last night. Cocktails were creative and delicious. I loved the "Better Than The Alternative" and would definitely order the "Violette Femme" again! While all the food was solid, the standouts were the Caponata Bruschetta and possibly the most delicious Orecchiette w/broccoli rabe and sausage I've ever had. It's a small place and our server took good care of us. My only critique is that instead of being seated in more comfortable seats inside their outdoor dining structure (as I asked for when I made my reservation), we were seated at a tall bar table and had to endure eating a full meal on bar stools. It wasn't a cheap meal, but we enjoyed it.
We had a relatively good first experience here although I hope they bring the legendary lobster ravioli back soon. Scannable menus and masked staff were good, but the tables are definitely not 6 ft apart in all cases and that put us on edge. Please spread the tables more! The staff was so friendly. The wine bottle deal right now is incredible and the house white was actually great. Tiramisu, burrata, gnocchi were delicious. I got the shrimp pesto pasta and it would have been great if not overpowered by what was probably 2 days worth of sodium. We will be back to try the cocktails which looked amazing, and the sandwiches.
Food was great, service was even better. The only complaint I have is that bartender man thought he was main character and played hard rock all night when were supposed to be having a nice relaxing dinner. Def not a vibe and kinda weird for an Italian restaurant lol. Otherwise it was good.
Excellent all around. We've enjoyed everytime we're there. The Vibe, the food, the music is always on point!
First time trying this place and was pleasantly surprised. Shared the gnocchi and it was great. The medium charcuterie board didn't have much variety (or bread) but it had a few cheeses and meats that we found interesting. Overall really enjoyed the food, and would come back again
Came here on a Thursday night on a date. Food was great! Started with the Suppli which is similar to an arancini, it was crispy and tasty. I ordered the chicken parmigiana which was great. Tons of cheese and the fillet was thin and crispy (not to mention large) Not served with a ton of pasta, which I like and the sauce was flavorful. I also really enjoyed the blood orange Negroni. Prices were fairly reasonable (aside from their $18 seasonal drinks) ~20-25 per pasta dish. Came out to around $120 for appetizer, two mains and two drinks each. I wanted to try the tiramisu dessert, but I was informed it wasn’t available.
Pros: the gracious staff, clean and comfortable room, the terrific pastas and bruschetta. Wines and drinks a plenty. Our salmon was small and dry, maybe yesterday’s since we picked up at 5pm, and the steak was a bit over done, so maybe stick with pastas and not proteins here. The pizzas are spoken well of but I haven’t had yet.
The food, wine and atmosphere were great. The bartender looked friendly at first. However, when it became busy, the service at the bar was not acceptable.. not sure if the bartender was stressed or it was his temperament, or he just didn't like us..or maybe we were to much and pretentious... but i believe we as custumers were kind and he was kind of rude to us..3 girls.. He was arrogant, gave us attitude and a bit of negative emotions for Friday night... when we just wanted to vent and needed to relax.. It's a pitty for this really nice maybe the best spot on Broadway, Astoria... He really needs people skills first to manage a bar...or even to own it. People come back for the people...not only for food and drinks.. I hope this only happened to us.. and he is not every day that moody. Good luck to this place and all the best!
Good food but the experience on April 29 evening was terrible. Limited staff but zero communication on how long it would take to get food. Each order took 30min to an hour. People walked out and the number of times we were told it's coming soon was ludicrous. Nothing was done to appease the group and we spent over way too much money for a terrible experience. The waiter said there were 2 trainees working on a Friday night. TO THE MANAGER: why are trainees working on a weekend night?!! Where was any manager overseeing what was going on. I may give this another shot next month but worried that their expansion efforts to other locations is going impact the quality of this location.
Ehhh this place can honestly be so much better. So much potential. The meatballs were good for the price (imo a real deal for $8 would be three meatballs though). The oysters were not salty at all, kinda concerning. Drinks are ok. The service is pretty bad. They get annoyed if you have an issue with your drinks. I mentioned my wine was sour and the bartender today(Tuesday the 27th) made me feel crazy for complaining, which is something in spending my hard earned money on. In addition, I ordered a second drink and the same guy was taking his time and face timing while the poor waiter was doing all the work. Kinda sad. I do think the waiter was trying his best, but very little help from the other staff. It’s just sad to see such a cute spot like this one, with such potential. However, it really does not live up to the aesthetic. Plenty of other great Italian spots in NYC with the same price point (the happy hour doesn’t even seem that great to me) I do want to try the fried mozzarella so I’ll probably come back. However, this place is mid AT BEST.
Appetizers and drinks are pricey but really good. Pasta definitely not worth the price not great quality.
First time here. I really enjoyed my drink and in general felt they excel in making drinks, as my whole table enjoyed what they ordered. I enjoyed the entrees and the reasonable pricing for the pasta dishes. We ordered a variety of pastas and everyone enjoyed their own dish and raved about the freshness and bite of the pastas. I enjoyed the cheesy rigatoni with truffle sauce although the portion looked quite small when compared to other dishes such as the gnocchi. I felt the appetizers and service was severely lacking. The burrata didn’t really taste like much of anything and the meatballs were ok. Our server felt both very attentive and completely absent through the meal - she kept taking dishes before we were done with them that still visibly had food on them, without consulting us on if we wanted more time on the dish. She also forgot to take our main entree order until we had almost finished our appetizers and needed to be reminded we still hadn’t ordered. I completely understand feeling overwhelmed with many tables as a server (and it seemed like she may have been the only one at the time I was there) so it is a bit forgivable. However, the bartender spilled part of a drink on me (and was apologetic about it) and the people running food were very curt. I am surprised of so many reviews emphasizing the friendly staff when I did not have this experience at all - in fact I almost felt like a nuisance to the restaurant. While some of the food and drinks were good, I do not plan to return.
Was craving some bolognese and I didn’t have it in me to make. I ordered the tagliatelle bolognese. It was fine enough. The menu claims homemade pasta, Id be pretty surprised if this was true. Pasta water went unsalted. Beef/veal mix was 95% beef. This dish could be improved without much effort. Marcella Hazan’s recipe is pretty much my gold standard. From Google/Yelp, it definitely hasn’t been made in a consistent manner. FOH was great, very receptive, answered any questions.
3.5 stars. This place is extremely small inside. I wouldn’t recommend coming here for dinner, but maybe drinks. The food was overall pretty much ok. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great either with the exception of the stuffed eggplant appetizer. That was very good! The arancini appetizer, chicken parm, linguini with clams, rigatoni with 4 cheeses were just fair. The portions here are very small. Decent place overall, but not good enough for me to come again.
We live in the neighborhood and had been meaning to try this place and unfortunately were disappointed. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly. He was from a different location just helping out for the night but was so nice. However, they were out of prosciutto which my boyfriend really wanted, the pasta 100% was not homemade (which is fine but don’t advertise that), my sparkling rose was flat (as was my boyfriends aperol spritz), the chocolate cake was cold on the middle, and the restaurant smelled kind of gross I couldn’t put my finger on it. The atmosphere was really nice other than the smell.
What happened to Botte Bar? This place used to be top notch but over the last few months we've experienced a drop in quality, expert Italian cooking and freshness. Under new ownership? New under-qualified chef? Botte used to boast about handmade pasta and amazing rotating menu selections. Lately it's boxed undercooked penne or other mediocre pasta and some middle of the road sauces. Bring back the original Botte quality.
These guys said their credit card machine was down and would be back up in 30 minutes.... there were several other people already eating there and I had shopped at the store nextdoor with a credit card, no problems. I drank a glass of water and left. The food smelled wonderful and you could smell the spaghetti sauce in the air, it was wonderful. Too bad I was unable to try it, but I don't run around Astoria with a pocket full of cash.
Nice atmosphere, friends enjoyed their pasta. Unfortunately the pizza I got was an awful, soggy mess (I honestly didn't realize pizza could be that bad). I threw out the majority after getting home.
Unfortunately we didn’t have a good experience here. We had a reservation for inside, but were told there was only seating at the bar or outside. We sat outside, not a big deal. Service wasn’t ideal- but we didn’t mind too much. However, my husband’s pasta was completely flavorless. This is the first time I’ve seen him not be able to eat a meal. He left a full dish of pasta, virtually untouched. This was a waste of a pricey meal out.
I ordered penne alla vodka to go this past weekend. The waitress was very friendly but I have to say that paying $21 for a portion that was small was an unpleasant surprise. So was feeling nauseous from the smell of the vodka sauce. I don't know if it was spoiled or not cooked properly but the smell and taste was awful. This meal and my $21 went right into the garbage. Terribly disappointed because I like to support small businesses. But I won't be returning here.
The margarita pizza was the worst I've ever had. It had little tomato sauce and only one basil leaf, resulting in zero flavor. Any frozen pizza would have been better. Such a disappointment.
This place used to be pretty good! But the servers are super unfriendly. They kicked us out after we didn’t order enough for happy hour and told us that there was a reservation at our table even though tables were open.
My boyfriend and I are new to the area and been wanting to try this place for a long time. We ordered one of the pizzas and the rigatoni vodka and were so disappointed. The pizza was floppy and soft and lacked flavor and the pasta was definitely not homemade and tasted like ronzoni or store bought pasta. The cocktails were weak but tasty and the service was good for a Saturday night, but we will not be eating here again. I’ve never had a bad vodka sauce before and have to say this was a first for me. Also, the chicken we got tasted like 3 days old cut up chicken from a burnt cutlet. It was terrible. I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but this place needs work and we’re disappointed we spent money on food that was not up to par
Took a stroll and saw this place and wanted to try it. The outdoor dining decor is nice, you can tell they put in the effort to set it up. The staff was lovely and seriously helpful. The food was ok, could use some extra salt, pepper or marinade. The Drinks were Goooddd, the bartender diffently mixed it right this day. But I give 2 stars for the manager or owner who stood in the doorway mostly and did not acknowledge me or my friend. But he acknowledge every other patron coming and going. I can't help but feel slated by this experience. You have a business that is based on customer service, if the customer doesn't feel welcomed to spend $, why would I. Won't be coming back, my coins can be spent elsewhere during a Pandemic on another stroll. Hope to see the staff at another restaurant in Queens!!!
Got delivered 3 pastas and an appetizer for near $100. I'm fine with the price if the food was at least good. Unfortunately it just wasn't. Their cacio e pepe's tasted like they used noodles that had been in storage for years. That cardboard taste. And where is the pepper?? Their pomodoro tasted like the same noodles and using grocery store generic canned marinara sauce. The penne a la vodka was overcooked (meaning not al dente) but at least the sauce was flavorful and saved that dish. I'm sorry to sound harsh but that's really the most accurate depiction of what we tasted. We ordered 30m before the kitchen closed for the night and on a holiday. So maybe their normal day experience is better. But this experience is enough for me to not want to go back and waste more of my money.
I walk by this place every day on my way to/from work and it always has a crowd and good vibes, so I decided to grab a friend and try it last Friday night. This was my mistake. The server was friendly and our drinks(a Negroni and a Watermelon something) were overpriced, but good. They were light on the alcohol, however. The charcuterie board, which cost $19, had a minuscule amount of cheese and charcuterie and three half-pieces of bread. They couldn't even give us the equivalent of two pieces of bread cut in half. I should have known from the lack of value on the appetizer that it would get worse. And it did. The entrees. I got the Spaghetti Vongole. I received 7 baby clams(literal baby clams) and four forkfuls of spaghetti. I got the equivalent of .35 oz of clam meat, 6 cherry tomatoes and about 12 strands of spaghetti. BUT how did it taste? Somewhere between bland and flavorless. My friend received four raviolis in a sauce that was even blander than mine-it was essentially butter/parmesan broth. The raviolis, which I tried, were so basic that I apologized to my friend for taking them to this place My bill was $101 including tip. I paid for it all because I couldn't let my friend pay for that-it was my pick after all. What can one do? Demand more food with better flavor? Demand to be charged half the price because I got half the amount of food that I should have? You know how it is, you don't want to unload your grievances on some poor server. The cooks should be ashamed of themselves for serving that amount and quality of food, as should the manager and owner for allowing it. It's mostly my own fault for expecting I'd get my money's worth, though. I believe that if you're an 'upscale' Italian place there's an expectation of excellence in taste for $19 per dish. At the very least, if the food is going taste so-so, you should get a lot of it. I would never go back here and I'm angry at myself for going in the first place. I feel so cheated that I had to come post this.
I am utterly disappointed for many reasons after ordering delivery from Botte Bar on Grubhub. First, the portion sizes were tiny when taking into account the prices ($20 for Amatriciana pasta, $14 for a Caesar salad, and $8 for garlic bread with marinara. This doesn’t take into account the Grubhub fees either.) These prices are outrageous for the amount of food that was provided - there was barely any pasta in my dish and the Caesar salad was a joke. Second, the quality was terrible. I have to say this is some of the worst Italian food I’ve ever had. I ended up throwing half of it away. I’ve ordered Amatriciana pasta many times and the sauce tasted bland and off, almost likely what you’d expect the cheapest can of tomato sauce at the grocery store to taste like. (Almost Chef Boyardee-esque.) There was barely any guanciale in it. The Caesar salad didn’t even have full romaine or other greens but was just a heap of cheap chopped lettuce, almost like what you would get on a Taco Bell Taco. The garlic bread was burnt and barely able to be eaten. This has been such a disappointment and a ripoff. I see there are other reviews that are good, so maybe it was just an off night for them, but I will not be patronizing this place ever again. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for quality Italian food that is more affordable.
A few days ago we were passing by and just delved into this place. We were up for a disappointment. The waiters were adequately friendly but the food was what anyone would have called a kid’s sampling plate… Literally 15 individual pieces of penne and a small chicken parmigiana not bigger than my hand for $21. Notwithstanding, I was lucky compared to my friend who got a handful of baby clams and a few other pieces of pasta (?). It was bizarre to say the least. If it’s going to be this little, you expect food to taste amazingly. It certainly was forgettable if not rather distasteful given how meager the portions were… If I were the chef, I would be ashamed
Made several attempts to reach the owner or manager but kept getting sent to voicemail or hung up on. They decided that rocks would be a good decor for outdoor seating, but it is actually a hazard for anyone that is driving. There are families with children that use the outdoor seating and their children throw rocks at cars causing paint to chip and distracted driving almost causing an accident. Also passengers get hit with rocks if the window is down. The rocks were thrown near where my car seat is. This is poor management and I will be reporting this hazard to the city. Anyone that drives in front of this location be aware
I've been here multiple times and had a good experience, so I don't know what happened tonight. I didn't make a reservation but plenty of slots were open on Resy. We (2) were told we could only be sat at the bar. There were 2 seats, but the folks on either side were not asked to move their coats off the chairs so we could sit. We ordered drinks and waited until a few parties left, at which point we asked if we could move to a table. Again, we were told no. Finally, another party left the bar and we tried to move to their space and were told that it was being given to the group who just walked in the door. That's 3 strikes and we're out. It costs nothing to be nice but it costs 4 stars and a tip to be unreasonably rude and unaccommodating. A different Italian restaurant was much happier to serve us tonight. UPDATE: Well folks, just as we suspected. Management is just as rude as the servers. I clearly meant OpenTable, but I don't need to explain that to the manager who didn't proofread their response. Check your records, I made a reservation for 7:30 while sitting at the bar, to prove a point. It was not worth fighting for last night and I certainly have no reason to come back.
I'm very disappointed. I ordered my food for delivery after working a 12 hour shift. Hoping to relax with a refreshing drink and meal. I received what I would've expect to be dinner however I received a lunch portion of food and an half filled cup. For the amount I paid I expect atleast utensils and a straw. Really wish I read the reviews first.
I don’t usually write reviews but this was the worst experience I’ve had with food. We ordered this place for delivery and ahe Alfredo came with 0 sauce and questionably smelly chicken. I couldn’t bring myself to even try the chicken it smelled so bad. The cacio Pepe had pieces of plastic in it and mold as well
Ordered from Grubhub and got food poisoning from the salmon over the cacio & pepe pasta. Be more cautious with the seafood.
Ordered food here, overpriced, salty small portions. The bread was stale and it was nothing special. The zucchini’s appetizer was super gross and the mozzarella tasted like nothing, and the dipping sauce was chipotle mayo so gross. Never again
I order off seamless - I had gotten the charcuterie board. The cheese tasted like it had been frozen multiple times then stuck in the walk in fridge. I was getting hints of fish and broccoli. I love stinky cheese but this stuff was stale and old. Don’t order. I didn’t even touch the meats in fear of food poisoning. Tried contacting the restaurant before filing a complaint with seamless but Jesussss. I’ll eat anything but that was nasty.
Ordered delivery. Came late. Never ordering from this place again. The portions are a rip-off. It’s way over priced. There are much better options in Astoria for the cost. And better taste as well. Adding photos of how outrageous it was. A To-go bowl of pasta that cost $30 and our garlic bread that was $8. Both were a joke.
