Nice and cozy place. Food portions are fair and quality is fresh! Jude is very friendly, he and the other staff member offered us an excellent service. Wine selection is pretty wide! We enjoyed it so much we forgot to take pictures! Would def go back!
Vesta! Thank you for a beautiful night! My husband and I came to have dinner at Vesta tonight and it was outstanding!!! The food was so tasty that I didn’t add a thing to it which is how food should be! THE BEST MEATBALLS WE everrrr had🙌🏻 Warm atmosphere super friendly staff ❤️ We look forward to coming back again❤️ Thank you for your hospitality!
Very good Italian restaurant. Meatball appetizer is fantastic, so is their bread. Not a large wine selection but what they had was good. Their pizzas are excellent. Extremely thin crust, with just the right amount of cheese to balance between the crust and the other toppings. Small, quaint, quiet neighborhood restaurant. We will definitely be back for more.
My husband and I brought home a wonderful meal last night to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We have always enjoyed dining in - the menu, wine selections, and service have been consistently wonderful - but never bothered to leave a review. This seemed like the time. Thank you so much for helping us have a special evening when we would otherwise have gone out. As long as Vesta is open, we'll keep going back.
This small restaurant is one of the best Italian restaurants in New York, simple decor but great atmosphere and a menu that although not very extensive is full of surprises. i love their meat balls, the salads and soups as starters and my favorite of all times is the wild boar lasagna. For desert the baby Jesus cake is a must. They also offer a nice selection of Italian wines. Great service and moderately priced
I have been here twice, marvelous!!! They do homemade pasta and bread. Very traditional Flavors and well designed menu. Their waitress were amazing in both opportunities. It's a gem in Astoria, the wine list that they offer beautiful as well. Try: Lasagna, Ñoquis, pizza and their wines!
Stopped here for some late bites and wine and it was perfect! The food (especially the arancini), wine and service were phenomenal. The server was very knowledgeable of the wines and made a good recommendation. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate.
One of my favorite places to eat. Their brunch pizza called hangover pizza is so amazingly good that I get it every time I'm there. It's not on the main streets where a lot of the brunch places are which makes it even better. They're farm-to-table but they don't boast about it. In fact, there's a little placard in the back that tells you where they get their ingredients but it's never an in-your-face kind of thing. Love it here. The staff is super and the coffee is excellent.
Wine was delicious. Diavolo pizza hit with the thin crust. Pasta came out HOT and scrumptious. We sat outside and it was a wonderful experience.
A lovely cozy trattoria with great service and fantastic food. Went there for a weeknight dinner date with husband—we had bucatini and braised rabbit which was their special of the day. I forgot to take photos because we were so busy wolfing the food down. So delicious. Generous proportion. We will be back!
I recently moved out of the neighborhood and make a point of coming back to Vesta every time I visit. Out of my three years in Astoria, this place was by far my favorite restaurant. Ambience is perfect--lots of places in Astoria are are too loud IMO. I appreciate their menu being on the smaller side, because everything on there is amazing. Last time I went I had the squid ink pasta which was fantastic. I'm always happy with the wine I get, and don't forget the cheese plate!
What a great spot! We had a server named Ilya (sp?) who made us feel like regulars on our first visit. Food was great, beer selection was excellent, and the overall experience makes us want to be regulars for real. Heavily recommended!
One of the best brunch places in Astoria! Their cocktails are amazing and cost only $7!!! They serve amazing cakes and different kind dessert and they all taste amazing! Pretty much everything here is delicious and always fresh! We had a great experience here and would come back!
This place is great. Food is consistently excellent, menu changes regularly. Just talk to Dawid about your wine goals and he'll walk you through the options. The same meal would cost a good bit more in LIC or Manhattan. I make it over here every few months but honestly I should do so more often.
Got an amazing green apple, arugula, goat cheese and bacon pizza. It was fresh and delicious. The two man staff connected with each customer in a personal way. The establishment was clean and very industrial chic. I would definitely visit for dinner as I went for Sunday brunch.
I reluctantly submit this review because this is my go to secret weapon when dating new women. They have fantastic wine on tap, the service is personable (but often strained because of how few people are up front), and the food is absolutely fantastic. Ingredients are sourced locally and the menu changes seasonally. Get the Sweet Baby Jesus Cake. It's amazing.
Beautiful Saturday night at this place, amazing service and delicious food… ordered the wild boar lasagna, braised meatballs and a side of broccoli rabe. Cinnamon gelato for dessert… couldn’t ask for better!
Really nice place! I’m Italian and I wanted to have a real Italian food night in Astoria. The orecchiette are simply fantastic with very generous portions. Their cake was also one of the best desserts I’ve tried in a long time! The staff is also very friendly! Overall, very recommended.
Wonderful service, food, and atmosphere. Will be returning
Amazing Italian in Astoria! Get the house white carafe, can't go wrong here. Our order: blistered shishitos (small green peppers) with black garlic aioli it was bracing, tart and mildly hot, wow!, Margherita pizza, hangar steak, ribs (the special), shrimp spaccatelli (squid ink pasta) with succulent shrimp in lemon, brown butter and pickled Serrano chili ( where do get these brilliant combinations from?) and a side of sweet corn heated up with pickled chillies and basil and a roasted tomato vinaigrette, just my kind of heat. Awe inspiring!
We had an early dinner on a Friday in September with 8 people. What a fabulous spot. We were early enough so it wasn't too crowded and so could hear each other. The food was uniformly excellent - fresh and lightly seasoned - with a special shout out to the Sea bass - yummy! And the pizza was really good too - like New Haven apizza - very thin crust.
Went here for the first time and loved it! It's so homey and welcoming on the inside. The food was delicious - the Diavolo pizza and arancini were amazing. The service was awesome, really friendly people who interacted with each other in a friendly fun manner which made it all the more enjoyable - it felt like a family (maybe it is.) Amazing date spot in Astoria. Can't wait to go back!
Came here for our first bite to eat when we arrived in the area and wow did this place not disappoint! The food was so flavorful and fresh, the atmosphere was comfortable and accommodating and the service was outstanding. From the crisp cold water to the tasty wine and the incredible food, we will absolutely be back.
Have only been here twice, but service has been top notch. Friendly, attentive, and clearly just good people. Food has been consistently worth the price and do not skip the draft wines! Great date night or low key happy hour. Highly recommend if wine bars are your thing.
I can't believe his place has been open 16 years. I remember when they first opened. Not much has changed and that's a good thing. We've shared many meals with family and friends here and it's been great always. Lots of good times and memories made here.
My (now) wife and I decided to have our engagement party here after this place quickly became one of our favorite local restaurants. We were so pleased we did because the food blew all our guests away! We were able to rent it out to have the whole place to ourselves which was great for the party of our size. Waitstaff was incredible with service. It was a perfect day to enjoy our closest friends and family. And we have been here many times since. Menu is always changing and focused on local ingredients and amazing detail. Unfortunately we don’t live in Astoria anymore but talk about making a trip in just to have dinner here again. One of our favorite restaurants of all time. Perfect date night spot.
Came in on a Sunday towards the end of brunch. I was looking for a true Italian restaurant in the neighborhood, because I was craving a creamy alfredo pasta of some kind. I expressed this to the waiter and he recommended the orecchiette ai funghi as an alternative… OMG! Delicious! Creamy, tasty truffle flavor, the mushrooms are a great protein substitute. Everything about this dish was perfect. Paired it with a glass of Riesling, also delicious, they make a perfect pair. I’d been to this location over a year ago and had a few things off the brunch menu, and was satisfied then as well. Highly recommend💫
The wine on tap and recommendations are excellent. The orecchiette continues to be amazing. Always happy to return here
Such a beautiful bar and restaurant and the food is 10/10! The service is amazing to match. Our server Raul was amazing and was such a gem! I can’t recommend Vesta enough for a date night, dinner with friends, or more!
This place stands above others in both food and service. The space felt comfortable and inviting. The meals here make you happy. Assistive, modest, and truthful. The meal was wonderfully flavorful!
Very nice, cozy restaurant. The food was veery good and also not so expensive. Staff’s friendly, helpful and quick. If you looking for cozy Italian ristorante, that’s the place.
Our first time here in ages and ages, and we stopped in for a very quiet brunch. Split the Hangover Pizza, our old fave. Everything was great. Update: Always great. We split the endive/radicchio salad and a Potato Project pizza, and it was a very nice lunch. Nice stop on the way back from the post office! Update again: always great. Such a neighborhood gem.
We had a wonderful dinner at Vesta. Our server, Raul was very attentive and helpful. The food was excellent. We had the lasagna, burger and Brussel sprouts. All three were cooked to perfection. David, the manager was also amazing. He checked in with us regularly to make sure we were having a great experience. We can’t wait to go back to Vesta!
My boyfriend and I went here in mid-May for date night after my boss recommended Vesta. It was amazing!! The ambiance was charming, we sipped white wine (the wine on tap was surprisingly great!), gobbled down the housemade focaccia, and ordered the specials and a pizza (which my bf is still talking about). The staff was perfect; always materializing at the right moment and very welcoming and kind. We live in Bushwick but this is worth the schlep and we will be back!
We went for dinner and wow! The ambiance is amazing and the owner is so kind. It was a weird dinner as a car flipped over at the intersection and all of that to say, the owner was so kind and compassionate! Would recommend checking it out! Thought the food was good but not amazing - it may just be me! Try it out!
Where do I even start?! THIS PLACE IS A HIDDEN GEM. Hubby and I wanted to have a date and picked a random place and wow thank god we picked Vesta Trattoria. First off, the service was beyond excellent. Jenny and the guy that was serving us (I didn’t get his name) were the best!, very polite and chill and didn’t seem forced to be nice. The food: SPECTACULAR. Just the right portions. Dessert? Out of this world!!! (If you’re reading this get the “Jesus Cake” lol) Amazing experience!!! We’ll be back for sure!!!!
Lovely neighborhood restaurant - everything is fantastic! loved the meatballs, pizza - all pasta is freshly made. great wine selection - owner was there, stopped by everyone’s table to check in, lovely!! Thank you!!
I had a great dinner there, wild boar lasagna! Bounisima 👏 Great service.
I went here today on Valentine’s Day and it was so worth it. The 85$ pre fixe menu was fantastic. The lobster bisque was rich and the beef cheeks with risotto was delicious and including their famous baby jesus which I’ve never had before. Best bang for your buck. Everyone who worked there was amazing (especially Penelope who’s name I only got but the bartenders/servers were so Kind) and attentive and KNOWLEDGEABLE. So friendly and the vibes are great for date nights. It really made my “holiday” and I will 100% come back.
this is the best italian spot in the world, i grew up in a small italian town in nj and ive had pasta and foods in italy, nothing compares to vesta. The chef in there is doing some sort of magic on the food hes gotta be a wizard. Who ever is cooking the food: I hope you will never have a sad day in your life, I hope you will meet the love of your life, I hope you will have the best sleep every single night, I hope you will have friends who lift you up, I hope you randomly win a million dollars, I hope you receive a bouquet of roses for valentines day, I hope you have a wonderful life. Who ever is cooking the food is seriously an angel because these flavors speak to MY SOUL. I love this place and I will continue supporting it even if I dont live in Astoria anymore. If I could afford it, I would eat here every single day of my life. I hope this spot lives on forever, but doesnt get too crowded. This is the best italian spot in the world, i'm being dead serious and i'm not exaggerating. I'm here enjoying their home made bread and oricchiette ai fungi and i feel like this is what heaven is. Wow. Just wow.
Love it here every time. A staple in the neighborhood. Great wine, lovely atmosphere, outstanding food. Their mussels come in a huge mountain, delicious, in a broth I wish I could drink in a mug. Their pizza is consistently great- thin, crispy crust if you like that (I love it). You truly can’t go wrong. Brunch, lunch, dinner. Always blows me away! Love love love it here!
Love Vesta! It was our first time there and will absolutely return. We had the meatballs, mussels, pumpkin pasta (HIGHLY recommend if it’s still on the menu), one of the thin crust pizzas, and the baby jesus cake. All were great. There is also an amazing wine selection that pairs well with the menu. So often the food and wine menu feels disconnected so it was really wonderful to eat at a spot that put thought into this.
absolutely beautiful ambiance, amazing food and most of all the most wonderful service, go have a lovely dinner there as soon as you can and do make conversation with the owner if you can, it’ll elevate your experience. great guy
You know Vesta is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. There are fancier places to go for Italian. I guess if you call this basic but it’s not. It’s a very nice environment to people. They are really nice. Chef knows what they’re doing and the food is really good and prices are rust spot on drinks are expensive as usual just about anywhere in our neighborhood and they’re OK. The Wine list is OK overall we consider it one of our go to places.
The whole experience felt carefully planned and executed. I'm deliberately sampling their entire food selection. The staff provides service that's truly impeccable. Flavorful cuisine pairs with outstanding staff attention. The meal here ends with smiles.
7/11/25 had not been here for 4 years and went for a late lunch. The music, atmosphere, vibe, food was good. The meatballs were delicious very soft and tasty. Mussels and, lasagna as well. I usually have orecchiette al fungi in many Italian restaurants but the one I ordered here did not meet my expectations. Raul was an excellent server and very attentive.
**⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Experience!** Vesta Trattoria & Wine Bar is a hidden gem! The cozy, rustic ambiance and The wine selections with knowledgeable staff offering spot-on recommendations. The food is fresh and delicious, perfectly complementing the wines. Service is top-notch—friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Whether for a date night or a casual evening with friends, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back! Special Thanks To Mr. David and Raul for amazing service. Me and my Husband had a really great time.
One of my favorite local Astoria places for a quick brunch , My husband and I have been coming for almost 5 years. Outstanding service The food it’s delicious and fresh . and yes Iv tried pretty much everything. Just take looks at the pictures. Definitely a Gem !! Currently the service it’s one of the best in my opinion .
Everything here was excellent and i really mean that. Went here for an italian meal with my italian family and we ordered a ton of food. I wasnt down with the idea of ordering pizza from a place with so many other options on the menu but im glad we did because it was excellent. The meatballs were excellent. The fish was excellent. The chicken was a little dry but i was so full i didnt have much room left for it. Ill definitely want to go back and order other things on the menu because i trust that if its on this menu its probably good. I saw there was outdoor seating but im glad we sat inside because of the weather. Didnt love the music, the playlist bounced around across genres too much
I had not been here for over five years and decided to go with my family for dinner Saturday July 10, 2021. From the moment to go in to the moment you come out everything was great I loved the food loved the service deco the music the pizza was the bomb! Please don’t forget the meatballs they’re fantastic! Erin our waitress was very sweet and There was another young lady there who’s name I didn’t get that was so joyful and beautiful and she loved my energy too. This is the location I am most definitely recommend and return to
Nice spot - I went for lunch, super friendly staff, fast service, reasonable prices. Small and intimate space. I had a small pizza, my buddy had a Cobb salad. Pizza was great, the salad was not recommended. I'd go again, looking forward to dinner there.
I enjoyed my date night there. We had the burrata and meatballs! Really good! We also had the lasagna and orecchiette ! Sooooo good especially the orecchiette al fungi. They only serve wine and beer tho! Great spot for a Familly diner.
Server was welcoming and attentive. The lamb gnocchi and heirloom tomato salad were very good. Torta del piccolo bambino dessert was excellent. Music was too loud and did not go with the otherwise cozy vibe.
The place was clean and the staff were pleasant and courteous. The food was pretty good for the most part but I had to take a star away for the clams in my clam Pasta. I had a hard time opening them up and they just didn't seemed like they were selectively picked out. We also had the steak which was good and cooked just right. The fries were also pretty good.
Came for brunch on Sunday, service was so pleasant! Drinks were hit or miss (Vesta Punch: hit, Caesar BM: miss). Hangover pizza was very nice, their Italian take on eggs Benedict was sorely lacking hollandaise. Real highlight is Baby Jesus Cake, omg, life changing. We had it with the vanilla jelato and it was decadent and wonderful. Highly recommend!
I thoroughly enjoyed the intimate atmosphere of the restaurant. The Margherita pizza was a delight, and the Carl Graff Riesling wine complemented every dish perfectly. However, the lobster ravioli fell short of expectations; while not bad, it didn't leave a lasting impression for a reorder.
I was exited to try this place based on photos and reviews but it was a major let down. The service was horrible, I waited more than an hour for my entree and when I Asked about it, was told the order hadnt even been put it yet. My fish was delicious but by the time it came I couldn't enjoy jt as much given that they kept my friends food under a heater while mine got ready and when she got her burger it was dry and fries hard. Shame because the cousine looks like something I'd love to become a regular for, but when your food arrives late and cold it definitely makes you not want to go back, which I won't be. A wait staff of 2, one which was the bartender is not enough for a place like this.
I was charged by the only tonight bartender 20% tips automatically. Besides illegal side of this issue it wasn’t nice of them to do that. I would tip 20% anyway but at this case I felt overcharged. The bartender at empty place wasn’t busy at all, I was the only customer there. The spot didn’t look like too busy to let their staff charge by default. I came to the bar to order and make his job easier cause I decided to seat outside. Bartender was annoyed with me studying menu for 3 minutes and kept asking me if I am ready for 5 times. He rushed me with an order to do smth else. Ok. Other guys working there were amazing, absolutely nice and attentive. Food was good enough. This time I wasn’t lucky with my choice but previous one experience was pretty decent.
The place is cute and the staff is nice. The food is okay. I got the lobster linguine. While the rest of my family got their food they forgot about mine. I wasn't too bothered since I was busy feeding my kids. But once I did get it the lobster was overcooked and too chewy. The bucatini had a lot more flavor. I thought the mussels ans kale salad were okay too.
I've heard a lot of good things about this place and this was a nice restaurant with a great ambience and great service. It felt like the locals were very fond of this place and the servers were very friendly to all the patrons. I really enjoyed the seafood casserole appetizer. The sauce was amazing, flavors hit all the right spots sweet, tangy, spicy. The other appetizers were decent, nothing to write home about, mostly because the price point was high, around $20. The pizza was shockingly thin, it almost felt like the thickness of a tortilla, again decent but pricey. The entrees left a lot to be desired. I had the a pasta which was so overwhelmingly creamy and lacked any other flavor, to the point it was a chore to eat. But if you're a fan of super creamy and cheesy pasta, you'll enjoy it. I also tried my friend's mushroom pasta which had nice flavor but also felt like a chore to eat because it didn't hit a nice balance of flavors. The cake was very enjoyable and I'd recommend trying it!
Hmmm...my experience is mixed. I came there based on reviews and recommendation. The menu does not follow online description and there is a difference between their official website and actual offer. The venue by itself deserves some maintenance, from inside and outside, looks much better on photos. Service is ok. Prices are ok. My appetizer was the same size like my entree. I had arancinies as a starter, followed by wild boar lasagna, but the appetizer was better. I ate well, but I was not astonished. They did not have any specials. Very modest both the menu and the wine list, although I came there predominantly for wines. They have 5 whites and 5 reds to choose, not so great options, the most expensive bottle is $60. This is a typical local place, good to visit if you are nearby. Overall, ok place. Nothing more or less. One more thing. They should take care of a waiting time: the main course I waited 30 min. (lasagna does not take so long as far as I know) and the dessert (Baby Jesus - just a simple cake) 25 minutes sharp. And it was not a busy night.
Thoroughly disappointed. Got the mushroom pasta which is a bestseller. Tastes like something I’d throw together in a dorm room kitchen. I ordered in so I’m not sure if that has something to do with it. I even heated it up. I’d been looking forward to trying this restaurant for a while and it just wasn’t it.
We used to love this place. Last time we came here for dinner it wasn’t good, though. To start, we had a reservation and wanted to seat outside but they didn’t let us (even though there was an empty table). When we left, we came to find that same table had sat empty during our entire meal. For dinner we had a chilled corn soup that tasted more sour than anything else. The wine menu looks good but they don’t have any “of the good wines available because they’re so good the go fast” on a Friday evening… We also ordered the watermelon salad and found it boring, it had just too much watercress and too few of any other flavor, the watermelon was hard to find too. To top it all, we got lobster pasta - that could have used a bit of salt - and a thick cut pork chop that was over cooked and under seasoned. Disappointing. As much as we love to support restaurants we feel sad that we cannot recommend this place anymore.
We had the beet salad which was very oddly salty and tasted old? The ricotta was dry and crumbly and did not seem like “whipped ricotta”. The pasta was served cold and lacked flavor and the pizza was very mediocre. For the prices at the restaurant and the reviews expected better. Painfully average at best. Would not consider it a memorable meal
I just moved into the neighborhood and thought to check this place out. I ordered the chicken cacciatore but it just wasn’t good. I wanted to like it, but I just can’t recommend this place. The chicken itself had zero flavor, also, the description on the menu said it was spicy tomato sauce…but there was zero spice and almost zero flavor. I was most disappointed by the potatoes…the menu read smashed potatoes but these were like whole 5 golden potatoes, which made the plate overwhelming to even just look at. I had a glass of Chardonnay with my meal, which wasn’t bad. The only decent thing I might have had was the starter bread with olive oil. I will also say that the staff is nice and the atmosphere is nice! My total with tip came out to $55 and some change. I just don’t think my meal was quite worth that.
Pasta was absolutely fantastic. The diavola pizza was mid tasting and high priced. They screwed up our order, we waited another 10 or 15 minutes for the pizza after a 45 minute wait for the pasta. we ended up having to wait for about an hour for our food in total and decided to just share the pasta. They also charged 7 dollars for two sprites (which a refill wasn't disclosed as an additional cost). Probably could've had a better experience, but for 85 dollars I'd pass. 4.5 stars for the menu, but 2.5 for the service.
I really hate to give 1 star but honestly was so disappointing. We came here on thanksgiving expecting some decent service and a nice meal. I want to preface by saying the staff was very kind and professional, and the food itself tasted great. However i took us 30+ minutes to get 1 app, then waited almost a whole hour for our entrees. The portions were very small and disappointing - not that I got to even enjoy it because my partner was paying the bill and as i turned around to talk to him one of the servers swiped my half eaten plate without even asking. Imagine waiting 1.5 hours to be served a whole meal just for it to be taken away from you before you can even finish on THANKSGIVING. Honestly so sad - I will not be coming back.
All i have to say is this is not an Italian restaurant. What Italian restaurant you know that sells burgers? Extremely disappointing. I walked out thats how disappointing it was.
Hate to do this but I was so thrown off by this experience. We were a group of 5 and went around 6pm there was only one other party in the restaurant so no rush or anything. We ordered drinks and appetizers however we had to leave before we even got our appetizers because we found ROACHES in our drinks. I ordered a pineapple juice and at first i gaslit myself into thinking it was something from the juice so i sent it back and asked for another one but then i noticed there was no fresh pineapples. Everyone else at the table got canned drinks except my niece i checked her cup which was apple juice and that had a cockroach also floating in there at that point i said no and decided to leave. The waiter was nice about it and didn’t charge us for anything. The only picture i was able to get of part of the roach is below. No idea what the food taste like but go of your own free will if you still want to try the place.
I love this restaurant. My son and his wife have been going there for a long time and is there to go restaurant when family and friends are visiting. However today was a total disappointment. We went in for brunch, our food took a very long time. And out of the three meals ordered only one was eaten. My son’s burger did not taste well, his French fries were stale and looked old. He ended up not eating it at all. My daughter in law’s food did not taste well as well and she left it. My potatoes were overly seasoned. A great disappointment.
