We came here for a lunch outing with my job and it was the first time I’ve ever been to this type of Korean barbecue. The food was really amazing and very good! The beef brisket was the best and the spicy tofu soup was also amazing!

Best Gen I have been to. And I'm sure everybody knows that because it's always busy. I put my name down and spend the wait time at the bar around the corner until they text me.. I order the Hawaiian steak, bulgulgi (idk how to spell it), and brisket. Other than that I like to mix it up and chase it with a pitcher of Saporo.

This isn’t my first time at Gen KBBQ, but it’s the first time a server has truly gone above and beyond. WOW! what an experience thanks to Paco! From the moment he showed up, our dinning experience turned for the better (we were waiting way too long for our previously assigned server to bring our party rice...that never showed up). Maybe he saw us raising our hand or trying to flag the other server but he took it upon himself to take care of us. He was attentive, fast, kind, and lways had a smile on his face. Paco made us feel like VIPs with his warm, welcoming vibe. His meat and appetizer recommendations were absolutely spot on (10/10!) and his positive energy completely transformed our dinner into an unforgettable experience. Paco wasn’t just a server he was the reason our night turned out perfect. ¡Gracias Paco por un servicio increíble!

I love this place the food is excellent, I only have one issue, the amount of plates on the table can be annoying if there's no one picking up dirty dishes 😜 you can run out of room pretty fast but I understand this restaurants are always crowded 😊

In comparison to the Westminster Gen the Cerritos location is much better by a long shot . When seating we didn’t have to ask for rice or salad and was also setup with the sauces before they delivered the meats. The portion sizes per round also met the regular standards for kbbq and the service was on par also. The only -1 star on atmosphere is related to the AC which could’ve been set to colder temps as the environment felt a bit humid and warm.

Had a great experience! Parking: fairly easy to find and the wait is never over 5 minutes for me. Price: just right for all they have to offer! I believe the lowest is about 15$ Food: Amazing, I love it here! Environment: very clean and well maintained. the staff are very friendly and fast!

Went here with coworkers and my wife. Our server Joseph was waiting 16 tables at once and did a superb job. We would make our order or ask for something and while I'm eating or talking I would feel a breeze and things would just appear on the table. Would highly recommend coming here and if you get Joseph, know that he is an amazing server.

First impressions are lasting and even before the meats were brought to the table the environment and staff had me say out loud my family "I'll be returning"! The food was the best cuts, everything was fresh, they were very attentive, and friendly. Although pretty expensive, this is one of the best places to get Korean bbq. The meat is actually really great quality and the service is really good. The place can get really packed so get there earlier than expected. This was a great experience and is worth it.

Alright, I really don't think this place deserves a 5 rating but our server Joseph saved the day for us. We went in with a group of 9 after waiting about an hour. We were given a table made for 8 and it only had one grill. After discussing this complaint with the manager she kept insisting that an extra chair would be good enough. Our issue was we couldn't cook enough food fast enough to feed 9 people using only 1 grill due to the average time it takes to even get your order of meats. Well after being told it would be another hour to wait for a two grill table which should have been giving to us in the first place we were about to leave. Here is when Joseph stepped in and convinced us that he will take good care of us. I've never seen a waiter work so hard. Everything that we requested came with god like speed! He actually made it possible to feed 9 people with 1 grill! An hour later we were fat and happy and my expectations for table service will forever be changed. If you are reading this Joseph, I just want to thank you again and wish you a happy New Year! You should have been the manager.

The food and service was excellent. The restaurant was a little hotter than I've experienced at other Gen Locations including this one. So I'm not sure if the fans weren't on as high as they usually are. Definitely will be back though as the food and service were exceptional as always.

I came to Gen KBBQ to celebrate my birthday, and at first I was a little bummed .Our server changed during shift change, and the new one was too busy to help us out. We were left waiting for rice and more meat. Then Paco came in! He made my birthday dinner feel special again. He was so attentive, made sure we had everything we needed, and even recommended some delicious dishes that I loved. He spoke Spanish with us too, which added such a warm touch. Our dinner started off a little frustrating when our first server left due to a shift change and the new waiter was too busy to check on us. We couldn’t get rice bowls or order more meat. Then Paco came over and completely turned our experience around! He was attentive, friendly, and made sure we got everything right away. Came here Thursday, 9/11 around 5:20PM for a party of 3. We choose to come here instead of the Fullerton one due to being less packed. We were greeted almost immediately - the server name on my receipt says Joseph S. Everything came out so quick. Everything down to the food, sides, beer, extra rice, changing the grill. I mean all the servers and managers (I assume because they were wearing suits) were helping and were lightening fast. Will come back to this location. Wasn’t too busy, seemed like a good time to go.

I've gone here a couple times and I've loved it every single time. The meat quality is so good, the rice is cooked perfectly, the staff are always so nice and attentive. I like how the grill gets changed frequently when needed, the drinks are good as well. The desserts are good and not that sweet. I 100% recomend this place to anyone who wants good quality meat.

We always enjoy ordering our favorites — Premium Steak, Pork Riblets, Hawaiian Steak, Teriyaki Pork Chop, Beef Bulgogi, Samgyubsal, Smoked Samgyubsal, Garlic Chicken, Daechang, and Calamari Steak — all cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. The place has a lively and modern vibe, perfect for family gatherings or hanging out with friends. The meats are fresh, the sides are delicious, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Every visit feels like a great dining experience — definitely a solid 5-star for Gen Korean BBQ!

It has been a really long time since I have been to Gen but lately I have been wanting to go for their lunch hour menu which is only about 20$. I finally went with my friend today and was left really satisfied with my experience. I just want to start off by saying, the service here is great! I entered and asked for a table for two and one of the managers greeted me with a big smile and immediately took us to a booth. Next, we were greeted by our server (I do not remember her name but she was awesome). She made sure to constantly check on us and bring us anything that we asked for or needed, despite her having to serve other tables. Aside from excellent service, the restaurant was noticeably clean. Everything on the inside looked real shiny and new, from the floor to the booth seats. I also liked the fact that the music they were playing was not too loud. I could still talk to my friend without having to shout over the noise. I am going to be completely honest here and say that the food was good but it did not really steal the show from me. When I go to a KBBQ, I mainly order two things, beef brisket and beef belly. I was surprised when we ordered these two and they just were not that good in comparison to some of the other places I go to. However, this was not a total loss because the other dishes we ordered made up for it completely. The red wine pork belly was a standout as we ordered it about four times. The beef finger short rib was also quite good, as was the honey chicken. I did not get a chance to try some of the other sides, so I feel this will warrant a return. There are just so many things on the lunch menu, which is a positive for sure. I do not think any other KBBQ offers this much food on a lunch menu. Overall, good experience, looking forward to returning and trying more food while enjoying some of the same.

I really enjoy my visit here, it's my go to place for Korean BBQ. They have a great selection of variety of meats on both the lunch & dinner menu. For meats, our favorites are the beef belly, brisket, the marinated short rib, the Hawaiian steak and beef bulgogi. Also ask for the marinated brisket, it's not on the menu but ask your server for it because it's really good! For appetizer we order the Sweet & Spicy Chicken popcorn. Customer service here is good, It's just always busy so I understand they try to do their best to serve and attend your table. Overall this place is clean and meats are presented nicely and the sides are good! Make sure you ask for extra rice paper and potato salad, our personal favorites. I enjoy my visit here every time!

The very best experience we’ve had at this location (Cerritosl). Yaman the manager took care of us today! The waiters and waitresses were overwhelmed and so he makes the executive decision to personally take care of us. Let’s just say, we now know why he has been designated as a manager. Our food and appetizers and drinks were all brought out promptly, he continuously checked on us and changed our grills like he was literally one of the wait staff. We felt cared for and truly attended to. We asked for several things that likely would have flustered or overwhelmed the average waiter or waitress but not YAMAN! He made it easy and we thanked him for his wonderful service! If he could have accepted our tip, which he couldn’t due to being management, we had $100 to give! We decided to make a review as the best way to thank him. The other manager Leilany greeted us and she kindly sat us down and even changed our table when we wanted a little more seclusion . Overall, the service today was EXCELLENT!!!

This place is amazingly good. The meats are high quality and the prices are not that high for what you get. I love getting their premium steak, Hawaiian Chicken, Hawaiian Steak, and their Beef Bulgogi. I also love their potato salad, but the servings are too small so you always have to ask for more. I would recommend that if you decide to give it a try, go for their early/late lunch. Not dinner. It gets insanely packed for dinner and parking becomes a big issue (there are other great restaurants in the same shopping center). Plus, the prices per person are under $22 if you go for lunch on a holiday or the weekend. They are cheaper if you go for lunch during the week (but who can eat that much during the week). Dinner prices are under $30 per person (no drinks included). So, if you are not a big eater then I wouldn't recommend it for you. If you feel adventurous, try the Hakutsuru Superior Ginjo Sake (smooth and no strong after taste). Remember to tip your server generously because they really have to work hard to make you happy and ensure you get the food you request. The only reason why I give them a four star vs. a five star is because the quality of the premium steak has gone down. We were given a frozen steak which took a while to cook and was dry by the time it finally cooked. Our grill wasn’t changed during our visit either so the meat got stuck a couple of times too.

Great section of meats. This last visit they seemed to be too busy and might have overwhelmed our server as he forgot about our orders multiple times. Not a huge deal as I reminded him each time and brought them relatively sooner. They also ran out of corn cheese 🥲 so I didn't get any. Other than that it was good as usual.

Place is usually on point. Don't get scared of the lines outside, there is really no room inside to wait so everyone crowds in the front. Meat quality is bueno. Service is good most of the time but when its packed it tends to be a little slow and can be a little frustrating. The sides come in small little trays so if you like a certain side, you have 20 thousand little plates on your table. Throw the sides in a bigger plate if you see the customer likes it, and I am sure it would be alot more efficient. Just saying. 4 out of 5, based solely on the service. 5 of 5 for quality of food.

The food was amazing. The service started great but clearly as they got busier, it began to lag. Had to order the same meat like 3 times because it was forgotten. The staff was still nice and as helpful as they could be. We ordered steak, shrimp, calamari, chicken and brisket. Everything was super tasty. I ended up trying this place out last minute since my favorite spot was closed this afternoon. Overall everything was good but the service was kind of slow, the meats were okay and they don't give you enough sides for four people. I honestly can't complain since it was $20 per person.

Went there to try out a Korean BBQ AYCE spot and it didn't disappoint. I only ate beef, chicken, veggies, and seafood and the varieties they offered were good. Price is reasonable and the 2 hour limit is more than enough to satisfy any carnivore. The garlic chicken and thinly sliced beef along with the condiments like Kimchi were memorable...the only negative was that we kept repeatedly turning the gas up and the staff kept turning it down, possibly because unlike another KBBQ joint I went to, Gen doesn't have exhaust fans for the tables so our higher heat grilling may have been too fast or smoky for the scene...get there early because at least the Sunday we went got busy pretty fast...

This place is so good. For dinner it has like 34 different things to try. The potatoe salad is good the service is always on point. It tends to have an average of 45 min wait. Our server Joseph was on his game! Always on top of us seeing if we needed something. Definitely recommended.

My favorite Korean BBQ spot in so cal. Went on a Wednesday afternoon noon and it was very active. My server Tyson was polite and fast. Message for management, the floors are very slippery even when not wet. Im guessing, it's due to the grease from the grills and the smoke. Not too sure what can help since that's what KBBQ is famous for, since you cook the food yourself. Maybe, they can put signs warning guest about this. Went to the restroom and almost slipped. This Korean BBQ spot is so good. This is one of the best of locations. The service needs a little work. Depending on the server you get, that's all I will say. The manager, Hector, and Francisco were very helpful and attentive.

Very slow service on holidays. And because of their policy to limit to 4 type of meat per table, our group of 6 almost couldn't eat that much in 2 hours. I would recommend every one to dine in only on normal days.

The vibe was very cool. Loud so don’t expect an intimate conversation. Food was really good. No one explained what we were doing after telling them it was our first time, nor did the experience of the menu get explained either. The servers were young and seemed as if they picked who to favor. Poor service I would try again at the bar next time.

This is pure chaos in the best possible way, a smoky, sizzling playground where the grills never rest and neither should you, especially when the brisket hits the fire and immediately announces that patience is optional. The marinated short ribs are sweet, savory, and dangerously easy to overorder, the spicy pork has just enough heat to keep things interesting without knocking you out, and the thin-sliced beef cooks in seconds, rewarding the vigilant and punishing the distracted. Banchan keeps flowing like a supporting cast that knows its role perfectly, while the sauces quietly turn good bites into great ones. It’s loud, fast-paced, and unapologetically indulgent, the kind of place where dinner feels like a team sport and everyone leaves smelling like victory and sesame oil. You walk in hungry, walk out stuffed, and immediately start rationalizing how soon is too soon to come back, because at Gen, self-control is optional but satisfaction is guaranteed.

Good selection of meat (pause) The Banchan selection was good also. Our rice did have to be returned, it wasn't fully cooked but the staff took care of that no problem. I'm also used to having dipping sauce at the table and not having to ask for it. I didn't want to keep bothering servers over something that could be at the table. It's a place to take family or friends in from out of town or may be new to Korean BBQ. All around it was a good time for our family and friends.

I’ve been coming to GEN Korean BBQ off and on for years, and last night’s Thanksgiving visit with my son was one of the best experiences I’ve had there. We ordered beef bulgogi, brisket, garlic chicken, shrimp, short ribs, and popcorn chicken. Everything was flavorful, but the short ribs were easily the standout—tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. In the past, I’ve noticed that when the restaurant gets extremely busy, the service can slip a little. But this time, even with a moderate crowd, the service was excellent. The staff was professional, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our meal. The atmosphere was relaxing and made for a great dining experience. Overall, GEN delivered a solid meal with great service, and this visit reminded me why I keep coming back. Happy to see them at their best again.

Very spacious with elegant style with great vibes, the waiting time was decent and the food was immaculate. Very unfortunate that they have their priorities wrong in serving food. Instead of giving us water and utensils to cook, of course, the sauces, chopsticks, and plates were on the table but the first thing that came to our table was the raw meat with no way of cooking it. Good thing our service fixed the mistakes right away after one round of cooking food with chopsticks. The service was good just changed the priorities since everything else was great. Keep up the good work.

Visited here to celebrate LNY with the fam. Originally was going to give a 3/5, but the servers deserved more credit. Parking: They're located in a busy plaza, so finding a spot can be difficult. Ambiance/Environment: It was poppin! Iykyk .. Gen is one of the major KBBQ chain restaurants. They're everywhere lol. Since it was busy, there was a wait time of one hour+. Partner with the host to place your name on the waitlist, and they text you when your table is ready. EVERYONE has to be present! There's plenty of indoor seating. Careful while walking as the floors are sticky & oily. Service: For whatever reason, the hostess took a while to seat my family. We dined for a total of 14 persons. We saw our table was ready. After waiting an hour, it is a bit frustrating to be called in, told our table is ready, and yet we're still waiting to be seated. When we were finally seated, one of the managers (I think since he was wearing a suit) came over to explain their new Premium menu as an addon. We declined. There were multiple servers that assisted us, but Justin was our main server, and he was running this section like none other! Everyone was quick & efficient, but Justin definitely exceeded our expectations. Meats, sides, drinks: They offer a lot of meat options! Our favorites were the beef briskets, pork bellies, premium steaks, and seafoods. Their sides are different compared to the traditional sides you'd expect. For example, their rice cakes are pieces of rice cakes drizzled with sauce and their Korean pancake is a sweet dessert. It was interesting but still delicious lol. My favorite side was the Korean Fried Rice with cheese! The beer tasted as expected. We tried the Apple Soju, and it was sweet. Pricing: Since they're a chain KBBQ restaurant, prices are as expected. We all ate AYCE for $39.99 pp during dinner.

At Gen we usually get good service and the food is always good. I had a fair size party of 10, took one of the bigger tables taking up 2 grills. Our waiter, can't recall his name, was not the greatest. We waited almost 30 minutes just for our drinks, a couple of our appetizers got our before them. About 30-45 minutes we finally got our first set of meats, and took more time to even order our next. It looked like he was ignoring us and took the other party at the same table and the table next to us fairly quick, to the point we had to ask another waiter to get some more items.

We've been coming to this location since it opened, but we stopped the past couple years because of how crowded it usually is. We had a large party on Saturday night, it's busy as ever. It's rather chaotic when we were seated, they split us into 2 tables (which is fine) but the customers at the other table are still eating, so 5 of us had to stand around our table waiting for the 2nd table to finish up. That's pretty awkward. Even more chaos as some of our orders did not arrive until we asked the servers multiple times. The music is so loud, we can barely hear each other. The quality of the food is worse than the other KBBQ places we go to. The staff tried their best to accommodate everyone, it's just one hectic chaos. Purchasing gift cards ahead of time will save you 20% off the bill, although not the taxes and tips. There are many better choices so I'll go to other restaurants instead.

I came here with my boyfriend because we received gift cards for Christmas. I had high hopes due to him being here before and saying it was good. The food was actually really good! Well except the garlic chicken. That was underwhelming. I also loved the lights and atmosphere. Then came the service…I rarely care about the service so long as they are attentive. However, the wait was abysmally slow. We waited over 30 minutes for ONE refill. Never even got a second one. That and they took ages to do a grill change. By the time they came to replace it, which only happened twice, the grill was charred black and burnt. Never have I had this issue with previous KBBQ places. It really is a shame because I was super excited. Overall, I’m just glad the food wasn’t a letdown. If it’s busy, I’d recommend going elsewhere.

The last time I went, the food was as good as always, but the waiter kept taking a VERY long time to bring our food. He decided to do an act of "charity" by giving us a plate of bulgogi fries that we didn't order, simply offering to us. The fries tasted like they've been out for a while. Like they got it off of another table. Every time I ordered a drink they took 10 minutes or more to get it, and once I had to remind them THREE times to get me my drink. I have had good service in the past here and that was unacceptable. If I ever come back again I hope I receive better service.

I seldom give a less than 4 stars so please bear with me. Gen has been my go to KBBQ for many years but this visit was quite disappointing. I used to visit the Huntington Beach location because the Cerritos location is usually very packed and doesn't accept Yelp waitlist. This time, it's off peak hour so I picked the Cerritos location. Cerritos has two locations near each other, we were sent to the smaller location. The smaller location has the same setting but we were told that they are testing a new grill. The grill that doesn't require changing. Prior to this visit, Gen has designated people checking the grills for replacements. It seems that they have eliminated that job function all together for the so called non-changing grill. As a result, no one came to check on our grill and our server(she was new) never offered to change the grill. I flagged down the host inquired about the grill. He said: I will get you a new grill. 5 minutes gone by, a new grill never arrived. I did what I could to clean the grill myself to avoid eating the burnt pieces. Our server came and ask how things were going(while I was cleaning my own grill)? I guess she didn't see that I was cleaning. I told her that our new grill never we showed up. She was all excited telling us about the new grill, there is something they use to clean it and she will bring it over to show us. The "magic eraser " is a cube of Daikon, I think. She asked if we want her to demonstrate, I told her that it's not necessary, thank you. I asked: will Gen tip me for cleaning my own grill? She laughed and said: right? She did say that we can call them over to do so but I wonder how many people would do that. Now, let's talk about the food. The pencil thin brisket, differ than the bigger pieces I had before, the brisket shrunk into a tube. This resulted in unevenly cooked brisket. I used to eat two plates of brisket but this time I could barely finish the one plate. If their goal is to have me eat less, they have succeeded. Our second round of meat took a follow up with another server to show up. Yet, our third round of meat came and followed by a fourth round that we never ordered, in which the steak was frozen. I think I will head back to the Huntington Beach location to give Gen one last chance and hope this is just an one off experience.

I've been this location more then a handful of times but the quality of the customer service definitely went down. Never received drink or potato salad my child asked for. The first round food was cooked before I received my drinks. I was charged 6 drinks and we were 5 people. Dirty utensils with food on them. Had to ask for a plate I guess mine was forgotten. Never changed my grill and turned off my flame while food was cooking. I been a fan of Gen's for a while it's a shame. Maybe it was just the day maybe the location I've been to the OC and LA harbor GEN restaurants and have always been very satisfied with everything not sure why this wasn't the same. Received Bulgogi that was a brick of ice; hot food I ordered on the first round didn't get till I was about to leave. I won't be returning to this Gen for a while possibly not at all. Hopefully a certain staff member with star tattoo on his neck gets some training in hospitality and customer service because this guy's manner of treating paying customers was shot out.

Revising my review, as now I'm sure there is poor management at this facility. To my disappointment, they have raised their prices again which is now $29.99 for regular dinner then another $20 per person if you want the premium menu. If they are raising prices, you would think there would be some quality control in the brisket which is the most common meat ordered. See the picture of what they were serving this week (July 13). Looks like the leftover shavings at the bottom of the machine. --------- They get an A for effort during these tough times. The food was cooked in the kitchen and brought out to our table. For the most part, the wait time was pretty decent for our food to arrive. Unfortunately, we got the wrong bill, probably due to the "temporary" outdoor seating arrangements, but didn't realize until we got home and double checked the receipt. Guess drinks were on us for the night lol It's all good.

We've been there before we were able to just walk in and get our name on the list. So last night we went to the Cerritos location and walked into the restaurant that situated on the street. We were told oh you have to go check in at the main restaurant across the parking lot and get on the wait list. This location you can't just walk into so we were like now at that point the weight was like an hour. So we decided to leave and try another place across the street and their weight was 2 hours without a reservation. So we ended up at BBQ Knight. We only had like a 10-minute wait. Food was good service was good. So I don't know that I would go back there. They should at least have something on their website saying that you have to check in at the other location first

We used to go here all the time, this place was our first impression of kbbq when kbbq started to really get popular. The recent times we have went we either get bad service or none really at all and we're sitting there waiting for our server for a good while, I get it can get busy but the establishment needs to make sure they're well staffed and not stressing the servers out. We went yesterday for lunch and after getting seated right away (which was nice) no one came by for almost 15 mins by then we just got up and left. We were left sitting there with no water, no sides, and no waiter that greeted themselves and letting us know they'll be with us soon. One of the times I went there we actually had a really good server but we found out that it'll be better to zelle the tip to our servers because they don't really get anything if we tip through card. This place has really fell off and we won't come here anymore since it's just not worth it and the experience will just ruin your day, and other places really put in the effort and deserve the business.

Place looks nice from the outside but a whole different story when you walk in. The booth we were sat at hadn’t been cleaned in weeks as there was hair and food all over the seat and crevices, it was disgusting. We got the premium option and regretted it when we received a slab of fat with a tiny bit of meat on it before the waiter disappeared for 20 minutes. They also forget to season any of the meat and don’t provide any sauces to add flavor so you’re just eating meat with no flavor. Genuinely made me sad how this place is still open and taking advantage of people.

To start off , I took my son to the bathroom and an upper management was play fighting with his coworker and always socked my face. It was by an inch. He didn’t even bother saying sorry. I don’t normally leave reviews, but last night’s experience at GEN was too disappointing not to share. From the start, our server seemed annoyed and uninterested in helping us. It took almost 40 minutes for my friends to get their beers—and that was only after we had to ask another staff member for an update. They never checked in on the table and each interaction had to be be initiated by us by waiving down an employee. They never refilled our waters or brought us some sides we requested. Just bad service all around. The meat was okay, nothing special, but honestly the customer service ruined the whole experience. I’ve had better service at fast food spots. Sadly, this was the worst dining service I’ve had in years. Won’t be coming back.

We were kicked out by Delfino. Do not buy the premium because they will slow your service down so that you go past the time limit. My group was seated at around 1:15 p.m., and Delfino kicked us out at around 2:40 pm. The place was busy as usual. We were seated by Delfino, who was raving about the "Premium" menu for an additional $20, making it $59 per person. We decided on the premium per Delfinos suggestion. We got our first sever, and it was great at first. Orders were rolling in, and then our server left, and Delfino took over. Delfino came over to our table 3 or 4 times, and we waited long periods with a burning grill. We understood it was busy, so the wait didn't bother us. We got another server, and this server claimed we could only get 1 order at a time or she would get in trouble. Orders were coming in incredibly slow , and Delfino brought us an unsolicited check and turned off our grill. I explained we still wanted more, and he basically said no, there was a 2 hr limit, and, "We're busy today." We were there for 2:25 mins, and we waited a combination of at least an hour. The fact that we were upsold and literally kicked out is wild. First time I've ever been kicked out of a food establishment.

I used to frequent the Torrance location so since I was on this side of town I came to this one instead. Not only did my bowl of rice come out with a long hair in it but the server didn't seem to care when I told her about it. I had the whole thing in my mouth and had to spit it out. There was a steak on fire 2 table from me and the server pulled off the grill, brought it right next to where I was sitting and put the grill and steak down on the floor right next to me as the steak is on fire. What a disaster. The server didn't apologize or bother to comp me for anything despite the giant hair. Won't be coming back.

Go to any other Gen or KBBQ in general. The manager ignored our request to have the heaters turned on while seated outside, the waitress tried her best but couldn’t get to everyone in a respectable timeframe, some of the food was frozen solid (you can see the ice hanging off the radish paper in the photo), the salad had no dressing, and we had to change our own grill. Unsatisfactory performance all around.

We have been here plenty times and a great experience, when we visited yesterday there was "no" wait time, we were seated and some 20 minutes later the people next to us asked if they can take their order. She also said to take our order first since we have been waiting longer. The employee looked around and asked a server to take the order. Then we waited a couple more minutes and we decided to leave. I am giving this place one star, not because of the food or the service, but because of the management. I recently came to this establishment, and there were a lot of people waiting but the hosts quoted us thirty minutes. We received the second text saying our table was ready. We checked in with the hosts and she basically told us that we needed to wait longer because we wanted inside seating. Which does not make sense, why would they text me my table was ready if it wasn’t? Also, they give up your table if you are not there within 5 minutes. As we waited outside, there was a group of men outside who were talking to the manager, Raul. The manager Raul, quoted them fifteen minutes but the group of men was persistent and they paid the manager to get in earlier. They didn’t even wait five minutes. A few minutes passed and a Tik Tok “influencer” came to this restaurant and Raul was glorifying him. Mind you, they have a party of about seven people. Of course, no wait time. This is when it started to bother me because we had been waiting for twenty minutes after we had received our text message saying our table was ready. As we waited, more and more people were called. One of the hosts was about to seat a group of people who had just arrived and I made a comment. Then he asked me, what my name was. So, I told him my name and it turns out, I was not even on the waiting list!!! This was extremely upsetting; how unprofessional could this restaurant be?! I knew I should have left but we were hungry. As time passed, the same manager, Raul went around all the tables asking how they were. Except for our table, he passed by our table without even acknowledging us. He asked the table next to us, across from us and basically all the surrounding tables. The service was great, this place has great employees. The food of course was amazing. The problem here is management! When I paid my check, Raul took the bill. For some reason, he took around ten minutes and I decided to go up to the front. I decided to talk to him, I told him everything that happened, and just like the bad manager he is, he denied everything. His response for me waiting over an hour was basically because I had a party of two and it was easier to sit a party of six. Which to me makes no sense. Wouldn’t it be easier to sit a party of two people? Raul, denied that he got paid by the group of men. He denied he let the influencer in without any wait time. He denied that he avoided our table, his response was I only check on tables who have “wondering eyes”. Honestly, he was super unprofessional, he needs more training. I would recommend going to other Gen Korean BBQs, there’s one in Alhambra or Glendale. Please avoid this restaurant. Raul made me feel very unwelcome.

We got our first two meats before they turned on the grill. Got my salad, spoon, rice, drink and other two meats in the middle of our meal. The handcrafted drink seemed mediocre and the ice was already melted. I could’ve done a better job making that drink at a bartending school with no prior mixing experience. Would not suggest eating at this KBBQ during lunch. Understaffed, takes forever for anything to come out, and the kitchen inly has one cook/staff. I did give our server a good tip just because he seemed like he cared enough, not like the restaurant or other staff. I was going to order more alcohol but decided not to due to my experience alone. I was probably going to receive my draft beer towards the end of my meal if I ordered it. I was also going to order an ice cream but the same woman that seated us with the resting face was the cashier. Decided to not get the ice cream due to not wanting to ask the cashier. I have been here multiple occasions but this is my first and worst experience at this establishment. Better off going to Gangnam KBBQ for better service and free ice cream or other local KBBQ like Red Palace although red palace charges for their rice but both have better service overall.

Overall not a good experience here. The service was super slow. The waiter took over 15 mins to get the drink to me, by then we were leaving so I denied the drink and the server told me a sorry story how it would be charged on him if I didn't pay for a drink I was drinking. We’ve been loyal customers here for a long time, but our recent visit was extremely disappointing. The hospitality has taken a sharp downturn, they now limit starters to only 2 per table, even for a group of 6, which makes no sense. Orders were repeatedly missed, forcing us to reorder multiple times, and even then, some items never arrived. Staffing seemed very limited, and service was painfully slow. We left feeling frustrated instead of satisfied, a huge letdown compared to the great experiences we’ve had in the past.

Continued to eat. Bill was $55. My change was $45. I payed with $100. I had to ask for my change 20 Minutes later because the waiter never brought it to me. I am Mexican. And i believe I was given unfair treatment because I am Mexican. And there was mostly Asian. And White guest. And my waiter was also Asian. 2 Managers came and check on me. More than my own waiter. I will never return to this Restaurant again.

Wow just wow,. This place is a complete disaster. Despite having two locations, they inexplicably pack one to the brim, making customers wait over 30 minutes, while the other location sits empty. It’s as if they enjoy making people wait for no reason at all. The servers are incredibly snobby and rude, acting like they’re doing you a favor by even acknowledging your presence. The lack of basic customer service is appalling, and the management clearly doesn't care about their patrons. I strongly recommend going anywhere else if you want to enjoy your meal. This place needs a serious overhaul before it's worth anyone's time or money.

Nice atmosphere terrible service. Asked if it’s lunch right now and was guided to table (note they didn’t answer my question). Waited around 30 minutes after being seated where waiter finally arrived pitching their premium menu. I haven’t even received the regular menu yet. 10 minutes later she returns with a menu (40 minutes in now)and says it’s dinner only. Holiday or not, Friday through Sunday is dinner only.

There was a male worker inside the restroom when me and my daughter exited the stall . The male worker did not knock or announce himself . I reported to the manager and they still have not tooken the matter serious , be careful with your kids in the restrooms here!

It was my first time visiting. I was looking forward for the experience. The service was very disappointing. The server was very slow. She missed on most of our order. She didn’t bring half our order. I have been to Korean bbq before but this one was one of the worst.

I never write reviews but I had the worst experience in this location. Our server took our initial order and after that never showed up (walked passed us a couple of times but ignored us the whole time) 3 other staff members brought our waters and meats but we never got our appetizers/sides or salads even after asking for them like 4-5 times to different staff members including who I believe was the manager, he took our second order for the meats but again, forgot to bring appetizers/sides. We left the place after 1 1/2 hrs of waiting without getting what we paid for and will never be coming back.

I would say Im never come back here again. For the price some of the portions are tiny especially for only 3 dishes at a time, our server was worse of it all, he completely forgot about our table a few times or was hardly around when we asked for things or just plain forgot to bring what we asked for and i can understand that it was busy but that is where managers need to step in instead of talking to friends/ family when they come in and hire more help for high volume days. I’d rather go to a non franchise korean bbq like i’m use to and get better service when it’s packed than one where the etiquette & service is out the window with horrible ventilation on high volume days.

This was one of the worst Korean BBQ experiences I have had, and unfortunately it confirms how much Gen has gone downhill since expanding. We visited the Cerritos location on Sunday, 1/11/2026, during what should have been a normal dinner service. The restaurant was not packed or chaotic. From the start, service was extremely disorganized. Barely any side dishes came out for us. The only item we actually received was brisket, which arrived fairly early, but that was it. We ordered spicy squid and were told by three different servers that it would be coming out shortly. After waiting a long time and asking again, we were finally told the item not available. Okay. Fine. We will order something else. We then ordered a different squid dish. Same story all over again. More waiting, more vague responses. Eventually, a completely different server casually tells us, “Oh, did no one tell you we’re out of that item too?” At that point, we had been sitting there for close to an hour. By the one hour mark, we were done and didn't care anymore. Just got the check paid, and left no tip since the service was terrible. On top of the service issues, the floor was greasy in multiple areas and noticeably slippery, which is both unpleasant and unsafe. It is unclear why the floor was like that, but it added to the overall negative experience because it showed nobody cared. I can understand mistakes if a place is slammed, but that was not the case here. This was a normal dinner service, and the issues came down to poor communication, lack of organization, and inattentive service.

Extremely Disappointed Visited on 10/28/25 around 3 PM Came to try this spot with my sister, who had raved about it, so I was genuinely excited. Unfortunately, the experience was a huge disappointment from start to finish. First red flag: the women’s bathroom was filthy — toilet paper and seat covers all over the floor, an empty soap dispenser, and a wet floor. The manager actually sat us, and when I mentioned that my expectations were low due to a previous poor experience at the Gen KBBQ Fullerton location, she smiled and said, “Only high expectations here!” Sadly, that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Our server, Harvey, was nice, but the service overall was 0/10. - We were served cold bulgogi fries with cheese that wasn’t even melted. - We received two separate items we didn’t order. We asked for beef short ribs, instead got Korean style pork riblet and Spicy pork riblet. - I had to repeatedly ask for things — cheese corn (twice), radish paper (three times), and even napkins well into our meal. - Our salad refill never arrived, drinks weren’t refilled, and no sauces were offered or provided. - When our grill top was changed, the flame wasn’t turned back on, and I had to flag down the manager who did not have a lighter so had to flag down the server to get it lit again. - The restaurant itself looked messy, with multiple dirty tables left uncleared even though the place was mostly empty at that time. As we were leaving, I approached the manager to share our experience and let her know it wasn’t a good one. Her response? “Oh girl, well you should’ve flagged me down! But have a great day!” Not exactly the professional response I expected — or acceptable from a manager. After this visit, I won’t be coming back or recommending this location to anyone. My sister, who initially convinced me to give it a try, said the same.

Disappointed! We asked if they had new owners or vendor but was told there was no change. We had the all you can eat Dinner we did not get the premium meat at 50 per person. The meat looked like they were leftovers, all chopped up. We asked to get another one but were told it’s whatever they had we would get. All the meat either looked bad or tasted bad. I wish I could have taken a picture of the raw meat. I wished I would have gone to a fast food place. Will not be going back. We ordered multiple sides and had to request them from different people 5 times. It was not extremely busy.

Hello Everyone, last week my Family visited Gen a Party of 4 for my mom's Anniversary. We had a Terrible experience, our server was not entirely tentive to our needs. He took really long to bring our meats and sides. He only refilled our drinks once in the entire time of our visit, and it was towards the end. He offered dessert and we literally waited 40 minutes for it. The guys cleaning the tables were giving us better service. So bad. Our sever Kyle was doing some kind of maintenance to his car in the back of the restaurant during his schedule shift, when he was suppose to be tending to us. I always heard from people you either get good service or bad. Its a 50/50 chance. Any how, I called back to speak to a manager named Lailanie and mention our Terrible experience and she ask us if we could give them another chance.She offered to give us a superb experience and have my party of four come back and eat for free. She ask if we were all coming back . We said yes ! So we came back today 9/11 spoke to GM Hector he sat us down and we had the same server Kyle. He did much better today, but only because we had file a verbal complaint over the phone. Once we were ready to leave, they brought us the bill ? My sister and I had mentioned to Mario the assistant manager about what Lailanie had said. Basically MARIO said that HECTOR could only approve 50% off the bill. My sister paid and we said we will never come back to this place. The manager Basically said we lied about what she had said to us over the phone. Which was a lie from LEILANI we both spoke to her on the phone. Saying that she was gonna give us a free meal for our Party, just to mentione her name. She was gonna let the staff know. I've heard that this location has bad service half of the time. Also both men's and women's bathrooms are greasy slippery. Be careful trying to use the bathroom and slip on the floor. Don't come to this location !!! They don't honor their words, that coming from a Manager point. LEILANI

This was my second time at GEN Korean BBQ House, and unfortunately, it still feels overrated. The one upside was there was no wait time to be seated, which is probably due to their recent price increase (Dinner), makes sense why fewer people are coming in. The quality of the meat felt downgraded compared to my first visit. If you want better cuts, be prepared to pay extra, which defeats the point of "all you can eat." We even tried to order more upfront to avoid having to flag down the staff multiple times, but the service was still very slow. Not sure if they’re understaffed during our visit, and that really affected the overall experience. Honestly, for the price they charge now, you’re better off looking elsewhere for better service and meat quality.
