I've been coming to this place since I was a kid. The food and the service are great. I love their strawberry shakes and curly fries.

My wife had the Old Fashion Hamburger and fries, I had the Vegan Burger and Fried Zucchini, We both had Root beer floats, everything was delicious 😋

My family and I always love going here for a treat! They have really good chicken sandwiches and the ice cream is like no other. I recommend the swirly cone.

I've been buying ice cream and eating there since I was a young child. The place has changed ownership but it still provides ice cream cones for my grandchildren it also has very good food. Fast and convenient. It's one of Berkeley's finest.

The most fire fish sandwich I’ve ever had. SO GOOD. So satisfying. The dredge that they used for the fish was perfect, the fried fish came out way better than any fish and chips I’ve ever gotten. Hot and superr crispyyy. A nice sweet potato bun, crispy lettuce, probs a nice amount of mayo. Was gonna try it and then take it home but I ate the whole thing on the spot. Old style fast food joint with no dining room. Burgers, soft serve ice cream, etc. It takes a few minutes more than the big franchise chains, but the food is bigger, tastes better, and did I mention the ice cream, shakes, sundaes, and dipped cones?

My friend goes there every week and raved about it so we had went out to eat but we didn't have dessert. I wanted to try your Frosty Freeze and I'm so glad I did. I really enjoyed the chocolate covered ice cream. I'm looking forward to bringing my grandchildren in the near future to Frosty Freeze😁

The staff was super patient trying to understand what my child was trying to order. She reread the order twice to make sure she had all our special adjustments were correct. Then they helped guide us to the nearest bathroom.

I have come here a few times with a friend of mine when we are in the area. Its a blue building...you order outside and pick up outside...no indoor seating. This time I ordered a small tripple berry sundae...3.99...vanilla ice cream...topped with like a berry compote which was really good ...whipped cram...chopped peanuts and a cherry on top...i very much enjoyed it...very refreshing. he ordered a medium strawberry shake...4.31. He said he really enjoyed it. They also sell food such as hotdogs...burgers...pastrami burger...grilled cheese...shrimp in chips...fries...onion rings...corn dogs...as well as other ice cream treats like soft serve cones or dipped cones...blizzards...eat. I like this place a lot...

I almost gave this business 4 stars. But it had nothing to do with quality or service. Before I get to the main event, let me tell you why it got 5 stars. It got 5 stars because everything was perfect. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was hot and served in a timely manner and the place didn't smell like urine or have a bunch of vagrants scoping the parking lot. It really was a perfect first experience. Except....it was soooo damn far from my house. That's the only reason I ALMOST gave it four stars. But I just couldn't. Everything else was so flawless, i just couldn't give it any less than 5. Thanks folks. There's still professionalism in the world but build more of these types of places....closer to my house. Rkc-

Went there not thinking I was hungry and just had a major argument with beau... After getting a hamburger combo with fries and soda, the fries are perfectly fries are every single fry (saved some for later after my belly relaxed, the fries were still better than the McD's that only taste good when hot) hamburger could have used more seasoning and more sauce, but the fries made up for that and an ice cold Coca-Cola to hit the spot! Wanted a strawberry malt, it took me back to my teen days having a Fosters Freeze within walking 🚶‍♂️ distance. Enjoyed the satisfied feeling again, wonderful walk down memory lane.

I maybe could give it 5 stars but it was a tad expensive for burger and fries and chili cheese fries, but then again SUPER ample, super delicious, and VERY filling (1 order of chili cheese fries filled up my boyfriend and I.) Plus super sizing it probably didn't help the price to stay low. Nice selection of shakes. I love that it was open late enough. Plenty of parking.

I've only been twice to this location. The first time the ice cream was good & creamy. The second time the ice cream was icey & not the texture expected unfortunately. My family has been going to Foster Freeze restaurants for over 50+yrs and we absolutely love the ice cream. Definitely recommend the Foster Freeze ice cream. There's a parking lot at this location. Staff is friendly. Portions were smaller than expected. We ordered hot fudge sundaes and the ice cream to fudge ratio was petit, small portion ice cream and very little hot fudge not enough to have some in every bite, left half i e cream with no hot fudge to finish.

Decent place - staff are decent, food is decent, location is decent (easy to park at and never too busy). It could be great, but as it is, it’s not a bad spot.

Cheap but for a reason. Ice cream is watery and choc dip has a cloying waxy aftertaste. You get what you pay for.

Really nice guy made our cones. But the soft serve has changed. Now yellow and richer, I preferred the old white "calf slobbers".

Simple, roadside grill and ice cream. A bit of a shadow of it's glory days, and lower quality than the hipster places that abound, but still tasty when you're in the mood for old school.

The last few times I went there, there was a problem with my order. I ordered a chili burger with nothing but chili only. I get to my destination and find they put cheese on it. It's too far to go back. Last time, I ordered a large vanilla shake, and it did not taste the same. The price is not consistent. I order the same thing every time, and I have seen the price inconsistent. I'm going to try one more time, and if the shake is not the same, goodbye.

Ordered a coffee flavored shake, but honestly, it tasted more like caramel at first sip. Subsequent sips lost the caramel flavor and was now unidentifiable, but it was sweet. Discarded what remained (half) at home. Will try a different flavor next time. Maybe the syrup was less than fresh?

Ehh....I've been coming to this place for 20+ years. Yesterday I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. I was the only person in line and no one was waiting for their food. He forgot the BACON! The lettuce seemed old and withered...The tomatoes were as if they had been cut a week ago. Bummer, I love this place. It is definitely gone downhill.

They have to work on costumer service plus i dont like expensive but cheap hamburgers-ill be back during the summer for ice crean or a milk shake but thats it. Plus the inside needs deep cleaning as a chef its eazy to spot build up.

A waste of money and time. Everytime ive gone to this location its been bad. Ordered chili cheese fries and a hot fudge sundae last time. The chili cheese fries didnt even taste like there was chili on it, no meat no beans just sauce that tasted like taco sauce and barely any cheese. The hot fudge on the Sundae wasnt even hot and there was barely any on it. Paid $11 for 2 items its not worth it.

My husband got food poisoning and the jam burger was the last thing he ate that could have got him sick. He was out of commission for 3days and had to miss work. Was there Friday evening . I usually love this place the dipped cones are my classic favorite but never sure the actual food only desserts. I will stick to dessert from now on. Won't be back for a while tho.

I got food from a Fosters Freeze for the first time cause I had just spent a couple hours deep cleaning my car across the street at the Solar Car Wash. Had a craving for a grilled cheese. What I got was basically an attempt at making one with a hair dryer.. The bread was still soft and barely brown and I could still feel the individual cheese slices as I chewed. I was also surprised at the cost - roughly $9.00?? Never getting food here again (learned my lesson), but I will keep coming for shakes and root beer floats.

Ok, at first I wasn't gonna do it.... but when you've been a patron for 52 year's!!! And I'm 53 😤😡😤😡😤🤬! I can't let it slide when all my mother did was, ask for more hot fudge. We ordered 2 medium hot fudge sundaes. There was barely enough fudge to even be seen by the naked eye. So, she asked for more and offered to pay extra. The woman with the dyed blonde hair went off on her, telling her that there was chocolate in there and that she'd put one scoop in there. And that was enough. No one there has ever been that RUDE and Obnoxious in all my mother's years of going there, and she's been going since 1955. Mom's is 75 yrs old and deserves more respect than that!! They've officially lost 3 customers! I gave 2 stars cause the ice cream still rocks. And what sucked.... THE HOT FUDGE 😋.

Don't go here We ordered a caramel sundae, a chocolate soft serve in a cup and a cone. Lady gave us 2 cones and a vanilla soft serve with chocolate sauce. She refused to give us what we originally ordered and yelled at us for wanting her to give us what we ordered.

We did not have a great experience at Fosters Freeze. There was only one woman working, so we waited in line for 10 minutes to place our order. In that time we watched the woman yell at two different customers for not understanding what she was asking. She was rude to us when we ordered, commenting on how it was inconvenient of us to change a small to a medium. We then had to wait 20 minutes for our orders. Mine was made incorrectly (coffee ice cream instead of chocolate) and my partner's milkshake was almost all ice. It was like a slushie. We were both frustrated by that point and didn't want to deal with the poor customer service so we just left. We will not be going back.

Was on my way to do some laundry and desperately needed to break a 20 just into some 5’s or ones. I asked really nicely and the kid rudely said he couldn’t give me change and looked at me like I was a crazy person trying to scam him or something. So much for helping out your local neighbors. I was excited to try that place out while I was doing laundry right next door but forget it now!!

About a week ago, my boyfriend and I stopped by for dessert. He ordered a rocky road shake, knowing that they typically contain almonds or walnuts. However, this location uses peanuts instead and does not disclose this information. When he asked them of his ice cream had peanuts in it, as he is allergic to them, the women working there were insanely rude and refused to think that information should be disclosed.

Watched cashier handle money then walk straight to the back and pull food out of freezer and hold it in her bare unwashed hands. Cook had no gloves or hairnet or hat on as she went between orders she was cooking either. I changed my mind on cooked food and didn't buy a meal after watching this

How can a restaurant be that SLOW and get the order so WRONG? Let me tell you how. A, the cashier taking in orders speaks broken English and doesnt quite understand normal English. On top of that she rushes through the order process. She didnt listen to a word I said. How hard is it to understand No sause No tomatoes? I haf to repeat myself 5 times. All i wanted was a #2 with a pepsi. I got the #2 but not how i wanted it. Took almost 25 minutes to get the 1st order. Wrong. Then another 15 for the right order, so i thought. Turns out i didnt get half my order. Thanks for stealing my money foster freeze. Never again will i go there. Learn English and dont steal from customers. Its impossible to give 0 stars. Thats what you deserve.

I don't think the math adds up here. We got two cheeseburgers and a shake and it added to $33. The receipts are not itemized so we can't check what the cost of each was. Dr. Pepper drink did not taste like Dr. Pepper. There was an eyelash or some kind of hair on my burger. Overall, I think it would be better to go to another fast food place.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I have been coming here 2-3 times a week for a year and get the same order every time. Today, they messed up my order and gave me something that contains an item I am allergic to. This is no problem since I know mistakes happen, but when I told them what I'd actually ordered (what I get every time) they refused to correct it or replace the item and just repeatedly told me to take the wrong order. This involved both employees raising their voices and yelling at me while also refusing to correct a $2-3 mistake. I would say over the past year I spent around $50-$75 a week here, so to lose a customer over a $2 replacement and to yell at your customer is ridiculous. I will never come back and I recommend nobody go here if you value kind customer service.

Now they reduced the amount of fries by ALOT and the double decker burger only had 1 piece of bacon on it and the patty tasted like a frozen patty we will not be going there again and have the nerve to give us 1 napkin per combo ridiculous

Ordered one of the cheesecake twisters and the server was super rude and would only give me one napkin (even though the twister was overflowing and made a mess everywhere). To make matters worse, the cheesecake chunks were moldy! I noticed they tasted awful and realized after looking more closely many of them had green spots on them. I hope I don't get food poisoning, definitely not coming back again :(

-Short Version: The clerk and cook lied to us about the green mold growing on our bun, then told us bread mold is different and safe to eat compared to regular mold, refused to refund my money and tried to make us another grilled cheese with the same mold bread loaf from before. My entire family had food poisoning the next day. -Long Version: Took my girlfriend here to grab some food for us and my mom. She ordered a grilled cheese, ate half of it before she saw the mold. We took it back and the clerk told us very plainly it wasn't mold until the woman cook in the back came over to see what was wrong. She also told us it wasn't mold, but like 2 minutes later admitted that it was mold, but that it was somehow safe to eat "because i cooked it and bread mold is different". Argued with her about getting my money back, which she blatantly ignored and tried to make my gf another moldy grilled cheese. Had to argue with her again for like 3 minutes before they gave us the money back for the sandwich. Also, the very next day we had food poisoning so bad that my diarrhea didn't subside for 2 days afterward. Will never be coming here again. I would suggest everybody who eats here to check their food before making the mistake of eating at this establishment. Not to mention everything is hella overpriced here, for 3 people it came out to like $45! Ridiculous...

This is one of the most disgusting places I’ve ever been to. I ordered a burger combo and the soda was completely flat and the ranch dressing was literally chunky. And they charged me for it! Y’all. DO NOT GO HERE. I’m a little worried I might have contracted food poisoning. Pray for me.

I have no idea what the food tastes like because they were out of everything we asked for. I also could barely hear the cashier because he refused to speak up even after asking him to repeat himself 3 times each question. This was easily some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced.
