I love this place. Best banh mi hands down. Generous fillings, and attention to detail - even the carrots are amazing! They make their own mayo and paté as well. The bread is specially baked for them, and is the perfect soft-on-the-inside/crispy-on-the-outside loaf that a proper banh mi commands. My second love there is the "fried egg rolls wrapped in spring rolls." Pure genius of texture and flavor that is the best of both worlds. Oh, that egg roll crunch combined with crisp cucumber and herby goodness, all dipped in a savory sauce! I could eat those every day. And don't get me started on the pho! I don't get it too often because I end up finishing it all, and it's sleepy time for me about an hour later! I recommend anything with grilled fish. I'm mainly a pescatarian, so this is what I've tried. My omnivore friends profess their love for the other things on the menu. I've told many friends to go there, and now some of them go sometimes two days in a row! There is street parking right outside (metered), and you can find free parking around the corner in the residential streets off Gilman. There are both indoor and outdoor seating, the latter an enclosed patio with transparent roofing. Portions are generous, and there is attention to detail in every ingredient. This is very intentional. I enjoy their posts on social media, too. The only downside to PhoSho is realizing you've taken the last bite! The guys here that run the place are fantastic! They are really trying to do something special there, and are succeeding at it. When you're there, have a look around at the art - full wall and ceiling murals representing Vietnamese and Asian culture surround you. I feel so at home there!

Great beef pho here. Generous amount of meat and the tendon is cooked to the point of being perfectly soft. The broth was a tiny bit too sweet for me, I prefer more savory, but I would still come back here. Nice ambience and beautiful walls.

Grabbed some hot pho on a rainy day. Also had their monthly special: spicy beef noodle soup and grilled pork/shrimp wrap rolls. Everything was delicious. They are very generous with meat portions and even the bean sprouts/thai basil were very fresh. 5%off if you pay cash. Will come back.

The food here is amazingly fresh and delicious. This family obviously cares about and takes pride in their establishment. The service was prompt and pleasant. Thomas was friendly and gave great suggestions. This restaurant falls into the rare category of a "must try." You're mouth will thank you.

We’ve heard about Phosho Dough from friends and have been meaning to try it, and we’re so glad we did. Server was super friendly and recommended what to order. Between two people we shared the grilled fish pho, a generously packed beef banh mi, some big spring rolls, and a couple beers. Everything tasted great and we were super satisfied. Vibe was super chill with some cool murals on the wall to look at while you eat. Definitely recommending to more of our friends and coming back whenever we are in the area.

Can’t decide between egg rolls or spring rolls? Enter the Cha Gio Cuon…egg roll in spring roll. GENIUS! My companions had the chicken soup and fish banh mi, both also excellent. Their broth is super flavorful and the price is right. Owner and crew are very attentive. The restaurant is beautiful with modern murals of Bay Area life, but eating near sundown was quite unpleasant in almost all tables due to west facing sun. Simple drapes/blinds would help.

New Vietnamese/Pho place that is hitting on all levels! First, the service is ON POINT. Each and every person who works there was totally invested in making sure we had everything we needed and were happy with our food. For a "fast/casual" place, this is virtually unheard of. Also, zero gums under the table.* Second, of course - the food. I think my eyeballs and my jaw hit the floor when they brought the fried spring rolls. Let me tell you something - not since the day in 1987 when my aunt taught me to make spring rolls in the traditional Thai way have I seen spring rolls like this. They were amazing and I knew, right away, just by looking at them, that they would be so. Absolute masterpiece. Go here for the spring rolls alone. Lastly, the pho and the bahn mi - kiddo* said the pho was delicious and she is incredibly discerning, so it was better than good. I tried a few bites - vermicelli al dente, broth translucent, chicken breast, shredded, and veggies on the side, as requested. Bahn mi was veggie and this is the only spot where the food fell a touch flat - too many mushrooms (granted, oyster, shitake, or chanterelles - couldn't quite tell) and celery, which were too soft and overcooked. I'd bet some yellow and red peppers in place of the celery and/or mushrooms and some lemongrass sauce would liven the whole thing up. I'd opt for the chicken or maybe tofu next time, instead of the veggie. One other tiny point - the food is good, and the artwork and atmosphere is really great. It's too bad that the first thing that hits you when you walk in is the "fabuloso" scent of cleaning products. I saw the staff carrying around Method labeled bottles of spray cleaner but it smelled exactly like Fabuloso. If the food is supposed to be the point, get rid of that heavily scented cleaning product because it is totally over powering and detracts from the amazing food. I couldn't taste it properly for all the spraying and cleaning going on whilst we were eating. Other than that, we will be back for another round!

Didn't expect much coming here but left feeling like I just had one of the best pork banh mi ever. Also recommend the spring rolls and egg rolls. I'm not even really sure what I ordered specifically because I went off the cashier's recommendation and they definitely delivered. Really glad they have two locations as the other one is close to me, hopefully they have the same quality of food and service. Otherwise I will definitely be back at this one

I've never been to the original Oakland location. Menu is pretty simple. The quality to price ratio is excellent. Portions are generous and the proteins plentiful and well prepared. Soup base is tasty and not oily. Service is easygoing and friendly, and pretty speedy for a newly opened location. Decoration is ongoing. Parking not very convenient.

What a beautiful restaurant with murals on the walls and ceiling! The service was quick, and the employees all very friendly. The owner was also very congenial and we chatted about different cities in Vietnam. I had a pork Báhn mì sandwich. The meat was delicious and flavorful, the slaw was fresh and tasty, and the best part-- the bread was warm and easy to bite into (I don't like it if the bread is too hard) but also crispy from being toasted. Delightful! I will def come back again!

Great new Vietnamese place off Gilman and San Pablo. Very beautiful paintings in the shop. Huge portions. Family friendly. Fast service. Pho was delicious, not too hot, and had loads of noodles and savory broth. Major bonus points for using a stoneware bowl and not having the hot soup in a plastic bowls with plastic utensils. Spring rolls are fresh and filling. Bhan mi is exceptional value, huge with loads of toppings, soft bread, and tasty protein. We will absolutely be back!

Amazing First Visit! This was our first time trying this Vietnamese restaurant and it did not disappoint! The gentleman who helped us was so kind and took the time to guide us through the menu and make great food recommendations. We tried the wraps and a banh mi sandwich — everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The portions were very generous; we left full and happy! Definitely a new favorite spot — can’t wait to come back and try more dishes.

I’ve been getting food here a few times now and I always love the food here! Fish sandwich and chicken sandwich was very good. Their egg rolls are so unique in the sense that they have spring rolls wrapped over them. Everything (carrots, jalapeños, etc.) is so fresh. The bread has a good balance of crispy and chewyness to it.

Portion sizes are HUGE, definitely plenty to share. I wish they had more seating options, however they made do with the small spot they have. The workers were very friendly, I would definitely visit again.
