Food was amazing. Ordered the cumin beef and mapo tofu. Amazing traditional flavors with hugeee portions! I was hesitant about their general tsos as this is always a hit or miss sometimes, anywhere you go. But wow was it amazing. Fresh, crispy, perfectly sauced all on a bed of fresh broccoli. You get your money's worth here. Good flavor, big portions, and great service 👍
The best sauteed green beans I've ever had in my life 🤤. It's ruined ordering green beans everywhere else 😭. Must try if you are here!
Good stuff. Tried chicken fried rice, cumin beef, pancakes and bakchoy - they were all great
This is the go-to chinese restaurant for me and my wife. The food is excellent and the service is great. We try different things everytime and haven't been disappointed so far. Bonus: the atmosphere is nice as well with intricate paintings and artwork lining the walls. Highly recommend 👌 5🌟s
Good service, great food! The complimentary pickled vegetables they serve are the best! Sour, savory, and with a bit of a kick. The wood ear mushroom dish was delicious and I highly recommend!
Really excellent Chinese food! Well prepared, extremely generous portions (one entree is probably enough for 2 people, definitely enough if you also get appetizers), comfortable but spacious atmosphere. Some of the dishes are a bit sweet, like the Peking sauce eggplant, so I would ask about that, if that's something you don't like. They are really, really good at making vegetables. The dry fry green beans and the pea shoots (seasonal) have each been the most memorable thing in the respective times that I've been. Their potstickers are alright. The filling isn't anything too special, and I don't think the wrappers are handmade, but they are fried really well and were extremely crispy.
this place is honestly the best. We love it here! Food is delicious, service is great and speedy!
Sichuan was our choice for the usually very busy Christmas Day supper. We expected a modest wait and were not surprised to find a friendly que of about 20 minutes. When seated, we were greeted by water, hot tea and as well as place settings already awaiting us. We were equally pleased to enjoy dishes which were delicious, varied, plentiful and of modest price. We saw a surprising number of plates filled with heaping mounds of steaming green beans. We'll be back again to try them soon.
Fantastic food. Nicest people. Will definitely be back.
Absolutely mind-blowingly delicious Sichuan food!! Went with a big group of 10 and dishes came out super quickly and everything tasted super authentic (except for of course the spice level - which was quite a relief for most of the group). We loved how affordable this spot was and how HUGE the portions were. I’m always looking for a Chinese spot that makes comfort food that hits the spot, and Sichuan Style might be my favorite in East Bay/SF so far. Our must-orders were the twice cooked bacon cut pork, the diced chicken with mixed pepper (a classic), and the dry cooked green beans. This is a great spot if you want to be quickly seated with a large group - no lines - there are huge tables!
Not a fancy place but clean, prompt efficient friendly service and totally great, authentic Sichuan food. Don't miss the onion cakes or kuo teh (pot stickers) with special dipping sauce. Stir-fried noodles and lots of veggies in succulent chow mein, recommend chicken or shrimp but plenty of vegetarian dishes as well. Had hot pot with thinly sliced lamb and more great fresh veggies. Good, hot Jasmine tea but TsingTao beer goes well, esp with the table's complimentary pao cai (Chinese kimchi, spicy pickled cabbage but with carrots and a few others.) Tables from two-tops to circular tables for ten for celebrations. Always a good sign when you hear guests, both young and old, speaking Mandarin, some in soft Shanghainese or even spicy Sichuan accents. 美味的食物 !
This is our favorite restaurant!! The food is just amazing, we always order the same 4-5 dishes, they recognize us and remember our order always (yes, we go often). We take every opportunity we have to bring new people to try this delicious Sichuan food, we want them to have a good business so we can enjoy their food forever!! The place is super big and always clean, great for large parties.
Love this place. Has been a go to almost weekly since we moved to Berkeley. Amazing environment, pretty fast service and the food is the best Sichuan food you will find in the East Bay. If you like spicy food they have plenty of great spicy dishes. 1000 chili chicken and cumin lamb are amongst our favorites.
My friend and I will come where often when visiting from out of town. It's a good restaurant, a true authentic feel, more than other Chinese restaurants. I definitely need my friend (from China) to order for me, otherwise I would be confused about what to get. There is that herb which causes your tongue to feel tingly — not my favorite but sometimes that really speaks to the origin of the cuisine.
The best Chinese food in East Bay! My partner and I are here monthly (if not weekly!). The staff is super friendly, and the food is amazing. We really appreciate sitting down to a fresh pot of tea and kimchi before ordering. Our favorites are the lamb with cumin, 1000 chili chicken, and mapo tofu. If you crave spicy food, this is the place to go.
So freaking delicious. Good if you want spicy, non American style Chinese food. I mean they have the basics, but we went for the Sichuan specialties. We got the Water Boiled Spicy beef, Ma Po Tofu, and these super delicious pickled green beans and pork. Tofu and the beans were stand out. Love the spice level but might ask for hotter next time. Big portions.
OMG! What delicious vegetarian food! Highly highly recommend the Tomato Omelette soup. Every dip was soothing and flavorful! The oil spilling noodles were unique but could have had more veggies. Note that it’s also a little spicy. Will definitely be coming back to this place for more 😋
The best Sichuan cuisine in the East Bay area. The quality, portion size, location, and cleanliness are well worth the higher price compared to restaurants in Oakland Chinatown. We have dined here many times and have never been disappointed. Every dish is delicious, authentic, and fresh. We enjoyed everything we ordered, and the portions are so generous that the leftovers easily made two more meals at home.
*Authentic* and delicious food with generous portions and great value. Everything we ordered was flavorful, and the service was excellent! We couldn’t finish all the food, and the leftover packing was done very thoughtfully. Highly recommend!!
This is THE classic Szechune restaurant in Bay Area. It is convenient, spacious, and with nice decor. The food is authentic with milder taste. As a Cantonese the real SZ cooking is overwhelming. This milder version is just right. We had A3 appetiser, H5 boiled fish, and J3 stirred pork. It came to somewhat >$80 for two. The portion is large. The left-over is good for another 3 meals. Very delicious!
My favorite Chinese restaurant in the Berkeley area! Sichuan Style really does a great job with everything they serve. The Shui Zhu Yu 水煮鱼 is fantastic and has the perfect numbing spicy flavor you look for in that sort of dish. We have also really enjoyed the Yu Xiang eggplant, Chong Qing chicken, and so many other dishes. The more western style dishes like General Tso's Chicken are also awesome and are super flavorful/crispy... much better than other restaurants I've tried. Honestly, I have been so impressed by every dish here and would encourage anyone looking for good Chinese food to come try Sichuan Style. The service is super friendly and quick, and the restaurant is clean and nice to sit in. We love Sichuan Style and will definitely keep coming back as long as we live in the area.
Great dinner on our first night in Berkeley. Very efficient restaurant. We were greeted as soon as we came through the door and seated just as quickly. Our orders came out quickly and the attentive wait staff kept our water glasses filled and our questions answered during our dinner. Enormous soup servings. We planned to split a soup and entree and wound up taking home leftovers! Don't forget to order rice as it's not included with the entrees.
Authentic Chinese food served by friendly staff in a nice environment. The building is a bit dated but the atmosphere is genuine and the food is outstanding. Not greasy and very tasty. It is hard to find Chinese food that has not been westernized with too much salt and oil so we look for new places to try whenever we travel and were delighted that this spot hit the bullseye. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit if you know what the real thing is!
I can sum it all up quite succinctly: delicious Chinese food and excellent service. My photo with the sliced mushroom in the center I included to show the white objects on the right and the left and the mushroom's there to indicate the size of the white objects. I'm not even sure what they were, but they tasted good. I just had never seen them before in my life... My dinner check was higher than I normally would spend but there was enough left over for a whole second meal that I took home. And they do offer a Monday through Friday lunchtime special for $12.95!
Thee absolute BEST Chinese food! Every dish is full of flavor. The menu is full of wonderful choices that will appeal to any craving. The restaurant is clean and the service is polite. Give them a try, I’m always glad when I do. Enjoy!
Easy to find nearby parking. Service and food delivery speed was good. Traditional nice Chinese food setting. I really liked the traditional spicy SiChuan flavors but also not greasy. Recommend the spicy beef tendon and the drowning dumplings. I'm coming back next time for the lamb.
Oh my gosh, I wish I had found this place sooner. Delicious and authentic Szechuan Chinese food at reasonable price. Staff was friendly and interior was clean and spacious. We got the Szechuan tofu with fish and 1000 chili chicken. Generous portion sizes.
Fantastically spicy Sichuan food. All our dishes were bathed in the fiery red of Sichuan chili peppers. The beef with fresh tofu was perfect. The silky coolness of the tofu married beautifully with the heat of the chili. The Dan Dan noodles was more like a soup but still delicious, with its hand pulled noodles. And the chili fried chicken reminded me of Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Crispy with plenty of salt, pepper and spice to add that extra kick. Service was spot on too. I'd highly recommend this spot if you're looking for some delicious, spicy Chinese food. Just be prepared to sweat!
Very delicious. This restaurant could easily be rated as one of my favorite Sichuan restaurants in the Bay Area.

Had dinner in a party of 6 so was able to try several dishes. All were very good and portion sizes substantial. Appetizer of double skin was a nice start. The chili pepper fish soup was good but the amount of peppers on top was a bit lighter than I am accustomed to seeing on this soup. I think it is more of a visual flaw as the flavor was unaffected. Combo fried rice and noodle dish were excellent. Entrees included spicy fish dish, barbecued pork, lamb, green beans, pickled beans and pork. All were delicious. Sichuan Style Restaurant compares quite favorably to the better known China Village, another Sichuan style restaurant down the street. The food is similar in quality but portions are larger and the service is much friendlier.
The wait time during CNE was craaaaazy. We had to wait 60-75 mins for our food. It would have been nice if our server told us about the long wait time before sitting down and ordering. Otherwise, the food was really good. I'll try to come back when it's not so busy.
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for a few years, and it’s hands down the best Sichuan food around. Their Mapo tofu is my absolute favorite. One thing to note though—their cabbage side dish is “paocai,” not kimchi. They’re completely different foods from different countries, and the process of making them isn’t the same. Don’t get me wrong, I love paocai !!, but I noticed some reviews from Americans mixing the two up. Just want to clear that up so people don’t get confused.
Like most Chinese restaurants Sichuan style has a very large menu. The restaurant has lots of seating and is rarely full, which is nice. Most of what I’ve had here has been excellent, but I was not as big a fan of the fried rice. It was heavier with stronger flavors than I typically like. The staff was very fast and helpful, and the portions were huge. And they give kimchi!
I recommend and have been 3 times. Green beans are perfect, potsticker wrappers are homemade, scallion pancakes are fried, and fried rice has excellent flavor and lean bits of pork. We usually get sweet and sour chicken but have also had kung pao chicken. Everything is great and I even eat the leftovers which are delicioso. 😗
Food: Very authentic Chinese food! As a Taiwanese, this is 100% recommended if you’re around and Loki g for a nice place with good price to have a feast! Service: very kind and warm welcome and service. They also help you pack your takeout boxes nicely. Ambience: suitable for family and friends dining experience. Quite cozy and pretty clean.
Tasty food!! Fun servers; may initially come off as a bit curt/quiet; but very nice, and the service is prompt and strong!a couple outdoor tables, and plenty indoor. They have $13-17 lunch specials M-F 11:30-2:30. The main dishes aren’t too much more, and are a great portion size. Kid and dog friendly outdoors.

Most of the food was good, with very fast service. But the mochi came out under-cooked. They quickly fixed it, but it was still a bit awkward. I was also a bit surprised at how mild many of the dishes were despite having chili pepper symbols.
Went for take out. Just missed the lunch special which ends at 3:00 p.m. Staff wore masks which was a plus. I ordered the mapo tofu which did not come with rice which was odd. I paid extra for white rice but only received a small amount, not enough for the mapo tofu portion. The mapo tofu was spicy but the tofu was slightly off. Also ordered the dry sautéed green beans and they had the right appearance but tasted stale. Overall not great, not horrible but wouldn’t get it again.
We just got take out so can’t say anything about service. I know it’s Christmas and busy but our potstickers literally had no filling . There were two that had a teeny bit but others no filling. It’s so wet and rainy could not return and no one answered the phone . Is this normal for your potstickers?
Third visit: Worst beijing duck ever eat in my life. ⭐⭐ Second visit: The Sichuan cuisine at this restaurant is quite authentic. The taste of the saliva chicken is especially good, with a moderate level of spiciness. The fish is tender and flavorful. However, the stir-fried double liver dish is very mediocre, even unpleasant. The flavor is too sour, as if too much vinegar was added. Furthermore, the meat was not well-prepared, and despite adding a lot of seasoning, it still had a slightly unpleasant texture and taste. This is my second time dining here, and the first time was okay, without any disappointments. I brought a new friend (a professional food blogger) this time to try it out, and we were slightly disappointed. 3 star this time. ⭐⭐⭐ First visit: The portion of beef tripe in the boiled beef tripe dish is relatively small. The seasoning of the chicken is sufficient and the dishes are very authentic style. Overall the price is reasonable. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Most food we ordered tastes good, the shredded chicken looks and tastes very strange in a bad way. The packaging was a mess, the sauces spilled everywhere.
