Cozy little place with ample parking and little gazebos kind of things outside to sit and eat outside also just like what we call in India as "Dhaba". Once you enter there is also a basic Indian grocery store with once you enter which leads you into the restaurant. Food here is geniuenly authentic, piping hot, tasty and yummy just like wayback home. Me and my son went in hungry but came out satisfied and ready for our little "Road Trip" to get back home. We were convinced that the food we had here was refreshing and will definitely battle the traffic we face on our way back home. Lastly a shout back for Viks Chaat "Go Viks Chaat Go" The price was very reasonable. We have to pay first and then collect our food at the back. Our food was ready in a jiffy and also the system was so well organized that there was no crowd everywhere at the same time. Punjabi dishes basically like Aloo Tikki Chaat with Chole Masala, Samosas, Chole Bhature. Overall impression was the restaurant was neat, clean, big and lot of tables for us to sit and eat. Restrooms were neat and tidy. Atmosphere inside had the vibes of an "Indian Dhaba" In the grocery store, there were basic standard grocery items like rice, lentils, snacks and savouries and sweets. Berkley is lucky to have Viks Chaat so that you do not miss home away from home. Customer service representatives Raj and Prashanth were highly polite, humble, accomodative and helpful.
Overall my absolute favorite place to get Indian food in the Bay. Feels like an Indian University Canteen with reasonably priced food and cleanliness. Taste wise the food is amazing and nothing has disappointed me so far. Best place to hangout with a big group of friends and have loud conversations.
Located inside a supermarket. Cafeteria style. Order and pay at the counter where the menus are posted, find seating, and wait for them to call your name to pick up your food. The food may not all come at one time depending on what you order. Self serve water station available. Not your typical naan and curry Indian food. I guess they call this Indian street food. We ordered the masala dosa $15, pani puri $9, daily special mutton curry $21, daily special black pepper chicken $19. All the food was pretty good. The meat curry dishes were not super heavy like most Indian curries are, a bit salty but ok overall. I wouldn't say the food is cheap, but it's fairly priced and portions are good. They have plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. Clean bathrooms. Parking is plentiful. Lots of Indian customers so you know it's legit. Overall, it's pretty good and I would go back and try other dishes
such good food and very organized. i love the new outside sitting. visiting after so long. definitely bringing back a lots of college days memories

I have never seen a place so jam-packed. The food was really good, though there was a good amount of wait. We loved all their items except Dahipuri.\nTheir chilli Cheese Dosa is a must try.

An amazing place serving Indian chaat. Can get crowded on the weekends, but still the service is pretty quick. Plenty of seating options both indoors and outdoors. We ordered Chole Bhature, Dahi Batata Puri, Pav Bhaji, Kaathi roll and Samosas. The Samosad were top notch, followed by Dahi Batata Puri, Bhatura was amazing but Chole could have been little more flavorful. Pav Bhajj and Kathi roll were decent but not very amazing. They serve Campa Cola too.
Vika Chaat has a casual, cafeteria-style vibe. The Tandoori Chicken Thali was just okay, and the Chole Bhature with chole being on the milder side , Dahi Pakori and Dahi Chaat were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. I also loved the mixed pickle they serve with the meal—it had a great tangy kick! I liked it so much, I ended up buying some to take home. Great spot if you’re craving North Indian chaat-style dishes.
We drove 40 minutes to try the place. Have heard excellent reviews from people who live in Berkeley about the place, so we were excited to go and try the place. It is located in a big warehouse like building with a big parking lot. When you enter the talk about an app to order food, there is counter in the food court area of the shop where you can order. It is a mixture of grocery store and food court. Pretty busy on the weekend. Ordered the wide variety of food items at the counter and then you pick a table. They have this announcement system which will tell you when your food is ready and you can pick it up from there. There are different counters that make different things. There is a possibility that you may not get all of the food at the same time. Food was decent, Chana Bhutara seemed to be the highlight of the place and chicken thali. One is good enough for two. Place has this college town food court vibe. I think this is excellent for students. Food is good but would definitely recommend this place just for an experience once in the lifetime.
First time here tried several items, we had the food was tasty each item we had I really enjoyed, I love chole batura I will say I have had better but it was good. It's a fun self service restaurant …

Unfortunately, this was the worst Indian food we've had in the Bay Area. The overall quality was disappointing, with dishes that were overly greasy and lacking in flavor. We ordered the thali and the yogurt papdi chaat - the kofta in the thali was particularly oily and underwhelming. The restaurant was also quite crowded inside, which made for an uncomfortable dining experience. For the price, it just didn’t feel worth it. On the positive side, there's ample parking available, and the service was fast and efficient.
Pretty mediocre food. Got bhel puri, chole bhature and saag paneer thali. Bhel puri was a little sweet, and one-dimensional but decent. Chole flavors are pretty off, no where close to Punjabi/pindi chole. Bhatura was good, a little too oily though. Saag paneer was unedible. Dal makhani was decent. Cucumbers were good :) 2/5
Bhel puri was horrible today and the person was very rude when a complaint was made. Neither apologized nor replaced it or refunded the money.

Not sure how this restaurant got so many 4plus star reviews. May be it lost touch. It feels like cafeteria food with loud music. Our 4 yr old could not tolerate the noise. We ordered chole bhature, papdi chat, pani poori and 2 chicken dishes. Chicken thali and kati rolls. Chile bhature were below average with bhature dipped in oil and chicken thali had old chicken curry. Kati roll had same chicken curry wrapped in a roti with no sauces. That was the last straw. Only edible food was papdi chat and pani poori. They both were good but overall a big led down.
This was a very bad experience for us. Food didn’t show up for an hour and was not the right order. We spent all this time waiting at the counter instead of having a good peaceful meal. AVOID - nothing this crappy place serves that is worth your wait. Food was not tasteful. Ordered Indian sweets and those had been sitting there for a while.
