Visiting my cousin in bishop before heading up to Mammoth, and decided to have lunch here. Had the Poco enchilada meal, and it was delicious. Great beans and rice
Everything is fresh and home made. Affordably priced, and they have plenty of outdoor seating and very covid prepared. Definitely a must stop if you go through Bishop.
This was a great time place to eat, they were really accommodating to me and my large dog, they even brought him a dog bowl. 10/10 would recommend
Great Mexican food, friendly staff. Stopped in on the way to our 7-day backpacking trip and came back for our first meal out of the mountains.
Great chips and salsa. Burritos were amazing. Quite large servings. Service was friendly. Would definitely recommend.
I love this place and Everytime I come to Bishop I visit them repeatedly. My family lives there and I travel from where I live to eat there. This time I live in Alabama. The food is excellent and the service is superb. A must to eat.
What a fantastic surprise. Very unique flavor, fresh and great blend of spices. I absolutely recommend stopping by, you will not be disappointed!
Magnificent experience. Food was amazing, very authentic. Service was great. Floor could have been less messy.
Fresh pico and nice back patio. Super reasonable prices ($4.50 for a tall boy local beer) and friendly service.
The baby lobster enchiladas are wonderful, the Rice and beans are perfect, the staff is awesome and the restaurant is clean and nicely themed, btw you have to try their tortilla soup, it is so yummy.
Went here while road tripping through the area and loved it. Really friendly staff, delicious food, nice atmosphere. Great job!
Best Mexican food I've ever eaten. High quality from top to bottom. Great service, too.
Probably the best fish tacos I've ever had in all of my family loved their tortilla soup and everything else
Excellent salsa. Large, delicious portions. Attentive service. Fair pricing. Popular no frills place.
Food was awesome! Super fresh, great flavorful salsa! Bohemia beers to go! Great customer service!
I'm from Texas so I have certain expectations for my Mexican food. Amigos checks off most if not all the boxes. Try it, you won't be disappointed! Table salsa is top notch along with the complimentary corn chips ... the best! Oh yeah, the guacamole is spot on. I recommend the beef chimichanga, enchiladas, tostadas and the nachos.
THE SPOT for Mexican food near Mammoth! Delicious & authentic, with excellent customer service. Called ahead on a busy Friday, less than ten minutes later it was ready, didn't even have to wait, fantastic!
Amazing authentic consistent Mexican comfort food. And I say this growing up outside Salinas and living with a excellent cook from Tijuana in the Mission District of San Francisco plus ten years in Echo Park haunting taco stands morning and night. Besides the food being comparable the location of beautiful Bishop in the end trumps the rest.
I love in San Diego and this is the best Mexican food I have every eaten. Guacamole taste like avocado, beans or creamy, rice was flavorful. Delicious fish taco. Chips were perfect.
Great place to have Mexican food. We tried veggie burrito and tacos. We ordered full plate for veggie burrito, it was a lot of food for two people but it tasted good.
We love Amigos! It's a must each time we visit Bishop. The salsa and fresh chips are delicious. The specials are great and we've never been disappointed by anything we've ordered.
Great service, great Mexican food. A really nice meal for our overnight stop in Bishop. The salsa and chips were really tasty and the carne asada burrito was as well. Will definitely come back on my way through town.
Everything we’ve had there is delicious. The homemade salsa is great. I particularly like the Tuesday special of Brazilian lobster enchiladas.
Athentic Mexican food, friendly service, affordable prices and the chips and salsa are incredible! We dined with a family of 4 and everyone LOVED their food, a rare occasion to for our family. Our new favorite spot.
Oh, so good! Ginormous chimichanga, had leftovers TWICE! They are so nice there... I use a walker and had a hard time getting up. One of the gentlemen working there came right to my aid. Now THAT is service!
This little treasure is right on the main drag in Bishop. It's really worth the visit if you are around for their business hours. Potion sizes are good and the food was delicious.
Best Mexican food in town. Their salsa is my favorite in the world. The staff is wonderful and attentive. Never a bad experience here.
Great food, great service! Will definitely return next time we are passing through. Shrimp enchiladas were excellent.
Delicious meal! Flavorful dishes with hearty portion sizes. The Ensalada with Acapulco Chicken topped with the creamy vinegarette is never a disappointment. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner.
Yummy taco salad and pork Verde burrito. Chill mom-and-pop vibe.
Great food, super quick service and people actually care about their job.
The food was delicious. My wife and I switched plates halfway through and both were equally good. If I didn't live 1500 miles away I would eat here all the time.
Seriously tasty food! Different menu than I'm used to but I just went for it and was very satisfied! Everything was full of flavor and we all left happy and full!
They have the best, most flavorful authentic mexican food in Bishop!! One of the great things about Amigos is that I can also call and get take out whenever I don't feel like going out to eat. I can stay home and still enjoy their delicious food!! I would definitely recommend their Nachos and you gotta try the Mexican Fried Icecream!! It is so so good!!!
AMAZING! I have tried a few different items and they are all so delicious its rediculous. The portions are huge too, rately can I even finish my meal. The carne asada burrito is my favorite! Chicken tacos are so flavorful, salsa is amazing, encheladas come with fabulous sauce. I can't stree enough how amazing this place is. Plus the staff is ALWAYS so friendly and attentive. Its a mandatory stop anytime im near Bishop.
Super friendly staff and their food was SO tasty - especially the salsa and their specialty, chicken Acapulco. Plus there was a lovely back patio for an outdoor dinner when in Bishop!
Delicious, fast, affordable and great service. We will be back
Drove through town on our way to the lake, stopped here for lunch. Cozy little restaurant with a family-like atmosphere. Service was great. We had the Enchiladas Vera Cruz and they were AMAZING. Some of the best enchiladas my mom and I have ever had. The chicken was delicious, the rice was very well seasoned, and the beans were perfect. Will definitely be coming back when we’re in town!
We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and tasteful dishes we had here. A giant taco salad and a tostada. Excellent! Our server was friendly and helpful as were the other staff we noticed. Wine and beer, no hard liquor. Give them a try, you'll enjoy your food.
These guys are probably the best Mexican restaurant I've been to. And I've been to many! The food is very authentic and VERY tasty. Best tamales and tacos I've had, honestly, and the sauces and salsas in this place are incredible. The rice is excellent. Even the tortilla chips are special: they're thick and flavorful. Dipping them in the salsa and eating them is a heavenly experience. The only complaint I have about this place, though I don't mind it, is that the bathrooms are in a bit of an awkward location in a hallway where the doors swing out and block the hallway. That's it. The food more than makes up for this quirk. And don't get me started on the staff. They're super nice and super attentive. And I'm pretty sure that most of them are related to the owner haha! It feels good supporting small businesses like this, especially when they are just absolutely outdoing every other Mexican restaurant out there. Outstanding in every way.
Very delicious food, both traditional standbys and regional variations that we really enjoyed. The salsa and hot sauce are made in house. The service was fast and friendly. We'll absolutely stop here again the next time we drive through Bishop.
We had heard very positive news about Amigos and thought we would give it a try while in town. Superb! The food was delicious and the presentation was excellent. The waitress was so kind and helpful. Definitely a new go to place for us!
had a super good carne asada burrito here
Excellent authentic native food friendly and efficient personal. Also pet friendly with a great outdoor dinning area! One of my favorites here in Bishop. Also plenty of parking for RVers with trailers back on Warren street, short walk to establishment
This is a great place. I travel to Bishop at least once a year and this is my go to restaurant. I can’t say enough about the atmosphere, food and service. My buddy recommends the beans…very good! I had a Palapas tacos..also some of the best I’ve had. Try this place. It won’t disappoint!
A friend and I ate there 5/27/23, and it was absolutely the best Mexican food I've had in a long time! The staff and our waitress were great, and the margaritas were delicious! I will definitely be going back!
Amigos is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant....ever! From the freshly made chips and salsa to the amazing entres to the warm and friendly service, Amigos is a restaurant you must visit. Rosie, the owner, has lifetime customers in my husband and me!!
I really enjoyed our meal here. It was very good and I loved how they incorporated fruit in my dish. The restaurant was very hospitable, the staff was kind and engaging. It was really a great experience. I think we will be back more often.
So impressed by this place. We walked in on a busy Saturday night and it was packed. We were seated in 10 minutes, food was delicious, service was prompt and friendly, everyone was on their game and we were out of there in time to make an event. I'll be back every trip to bishop from now on.
Stopped in for two tacos to go. When I opened the (unfortunately styrofoam) boxes the shells were so full of meat there was no room for the toppings! Both the chicken and beef were so flavorful and tender. Best tacos I've ever had! I just wish I had had an extra taco shell for each so I could have meat AND toppings.
the perfect dinner spot whether you’re in town or passing through. hopefully you’re able to make it on a Saturday when they serve their tropical enchilada special — it’s phenomenal! service is fantastic, too.
Delicious food, great service and nice location! Definitely check it out!
I don't normally go to Mexican restaurants but this place is relaxing. Very good service, good food, and nice menu. I can't remember the name of mu dish but it had shredded beef. The meat was good but the rice seemed a little old. I leave feeling refreshed.
This was an amazing restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. The menu was huge it was impossible to choose. Everyone working there was so friendly and helpful. They had an incredible selection of salsa. A large selection of beers too. I had the carne asada plate which came with steak, rice, beans, and tortillas. If I'm ever back in town I will without a doubt return to this amazing Mexican food restaurant. There is a large parking lot to the rear of the restaurant with plenty of parking. Or there is Street parking.
So delicious!! We stopped here on our way back from June Lake and simply loved it! Every dish was fresh and so flavorful! Pricing was just right and service on point. Highly recommend!
Really good food, very friendly people. Big portion, so happy we got to take the rest of it home. 10+! Came here from Belgium and were not disappointed. Nice town as well.
Great food, wonderful service!. We had a group of 4, with 2 kids. The service was fast, and they were patient with all our requests. The place filled up during the lunch hour, but our service didnt suffer at all. It was my furst visit, but I will definetely go back! Thanks for a great fiid experience!!!
Service and food are fantastic! We have been on the road for two and a half weeks and this place by far is our favorite. Get the Cancun enchiladas. They are amazing and unique. Best Mexican food I have ever had. Thank you
The service was quick and friendly and the wait for food after ordering was not very long. I ordered the Acapulco tacos and OMG. They are to die for. The rice and beans were full of flavor. My fiance got the chimichanga and it was awesome and crunchy and perfect. This was out first time in Bishop and I'm glad we chose Amigo's for lunch as we passed through. The good reviews are so true. We will definitely make a point to route back through Bishop to eat here again.
My Family has been coming up to Bishop to do some Family Fishing and we have eaten Lunch or Dinner at Amigos for 21 yrs! We love the Food and the people are so freindly. We were just there 2 weeks ago and enjoyed eating on the patio. Got my regular Shredded Chicken Wet Burrito!😁👍
This is my favorite restaurant in Bishop, Ca. and has been for more than 22 years. Though it's changed ownership over the years the staff is fantastic and the food is delicious, small but comfortable, we never miss dining here everytime we visit Bishop
Was passing through Bishop wanted some Mexican food and OMG!! I was impressed ordered the chimichanga plate and the street vendors plate and let me tell you it was so delicious 😋 and chips and salsa included for free!!! And the salsa is out of this world!!
Had the Chile Colorado burrito and although a little salty the cheese was delicious. Service was good and the staff was very attentive.

Growing up in Bishop, this is where the locals go for good Mexican food!! Fast and friendly service with delicious food! Their chips and salsa is unrivaled. Good portions. Highly recommended!
Passing through from Montana - stopped for fish tacos. They are absolutely amazing. Seriously, I can’t tell you how often I’m disappointed with fish tacos. These are a 10 out of 10. Establishment was super cute and staff is super friendly. Highly recommend. 💯
Absolutely amazing!!!! Top 3 Mexican food i have ever had.
It was my first time coming. I got the tacos with beef and rice on the side. The drinks were great and the food was very well seasoned. The atmosphere is very pleasing and the employees were very attendant. Would come again, definitely!
Excellent food. Really enjoyed everything we got. My wife got the veggie burrito and I got the jaliscos enchiladas. Their guacamole is great. Chips seem fresh. Nice and cool inside. Fair prices
I ate here for my first time today. I had the carne asada burrito + rice & beans. I was blown away with the quality of the food and how great the service was! I will definitely be returning to this place as often as I can. Only complaint is that I didn’t discover this place sooner!

It was pretty good, a lot of food for the price. I asked if the rice and beans were vegetarian and was told yes.
Best burritos I ever had try the Chili Colorado! Just wish the service was better, the girl with glasses didn't seem very nice.
Good place for dinner in Bishop. Quick service, and good variety on menu. Definitely better than the other Mexican restaurant.
I would give 3 stars but the place is better that just ok. The specialty plates are really good and there is plenty of room for somewhat large groups.
Excellent customer service! The staff are nice, and the food came out quickly. I loved the salsa that came with the chips. The chimichanga isn’t huge, but it’s packed... and honestly, it was more than enough for me.
I have been to Amigo's several times. Each time, the staff have offered great service, the food has been beyond yummy, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I love the salsa they bring with the tortilla chips. Tacos can be ordered Mexican (soft corn) or American (hard). Their menu is extensive and vegetarian- friendly. Its awesome to paint Amigo's with a trip to the Bishop Twin Theater.
Had the beef chimichanga. Beef was flavorful, not dry. Chichanga loaded with cheese. Overall good, not the best idea of a meal before a long hike.

Very efficient, friendly service. Inexpensive. Food was OK: tamale was dry, fish taco inside was good, but was served with a large flour tortilla, which was unexpected.
No frills Mexican with a large menu. Disappointly, we could only find one vegetarian option, which was the vegetarian burrito. It consisted mainly of rice, with bits of tomatoes and a small amount of sour cream. If there was guacamole in there, it was well hidden and not a vegetable in sight. The side greens salad consisted of just iceberg lettuce. The only good thing was the nachos that come free as a starter with salsa. I gave 3* for the service, which was friendly.
Service was great. Place is a little run down but quaint. My son had the chimichangas and he said they were good. I had the shrimp cocktail. I've been craving a good Mexican Shrimp cocktail for a while but this did not satisfy the craving. Not much flavor in the sauce and the shrimp was a little tough. Menu was extensive.

I love their food, but tonight I drove all the way into town and arrived by 8:30 only to find it closed even though their hours online and on their sign say open until 9. This has happened enough times now that I feel compelled to leave a review.
This place made me super sick. I don't think they washed the lettuce on my taco.
Take this review with a grain of salt as I live in LA and it's probably unfair to rate a Mexican restaurant in Bishop. Portions were good. My chicken tacos (I wanted al pastor but it's only available on Mondays) came with rice and refried beans. The beans and rice were warm but the chicken was cold in some places and the tortilla felt like it had been microwaved. Topped with salsa made mostly of diced tomatoes with barely any onions. Okay for a filling meal but I probably won't be back.
Chips and salsa were delicious and staff was friendly but otherwise if you are looking for real Mexican food you will be sorely disappointed. Living in an area with an abundance of traditional Mexican food I'm unable to provide an equitable opinion.
Bad customer service the gentleman that took our order was just bad, they had a treenager boy assisting who was nice, but the gentelman's attitude was not right. We asked for tamarindo drinks you could tell it was not natural tamarindo but from those packages to be prepared drink, food was not good either unfortunately.
Carne asada burrito tasted good and service was ok. Their salsa left much to be desired. They have one. Only one. It's flavor is eh and spice nonexistent unless you want it hotter; in which case they bring out chopped peppers and you can add them to the base salsa. Overall I would go elsewhere if you rate good Mexican food by the most critical component, their salsas.
Stopped here on September 7, 2024 hungry after hiking. The order included 2 beef chimichangas, one pork chimichanga, and an American style taco combo with 4 drinks for $86.73. First, they got the order wrong with 2 pork chimichangas. Then, the rice was dry and flavorless. All the chimichangas were overcooked and tough, seemingly recooked, which isn't suprising as they were ready in under 15 minutes. Trying to cut through one of the chimichangas, my wife accidentally cut through the takeout container which was disintegrating from the grease. Honestly, the free chips, which were actually really good, were the best part of the meal. Put simply, my wife can make better chimichangas and tacos at home with fresh ingredients for about $25. Oh, and two of the three cheap straws broke lol. But the service was pleasant and everything was ready upon arrival!
First of all.. Gross.. Terrible.. Only shredded meats with pounded out flavor.. My order of Colorado burrito was disgusting.. Never again.. Don't go there people And wish we noticed the sign on the door prior to wasting $35.. FULL TIME COOK NEEDED!!
The food here was really bad. It was bland and not at all authentic even though they promote thierfood as such. Plus our waitress was very rude to us. Highly disappointed.
I have never had such terrible mexican food. It was badly made and flavor-less. The spicy sauce was dissapointingly mild even though they advertise it as really spicy, and the tortillas were soggy. Besides that our waitress was rude to us making us leave the place after we paid and still wanted to stay and charge our phones. 50 dollars for a mediocer meal and they wouldn't even let us charge our phone. Just aweful.
First... I'm certain I got food poisoning here. Had their Acapulco chicken and a Paloma drink. Nothing but stomach cramps, nausea, since that evening. Reported to inyo county health dept. Was there on June 20. Second....ungodly hot, blistering really inside. Either they didn't turn on air or ??? And opening doors only lets the heat in folks. Do not recommend.
This was my first time to try out Amigo's, and seeing they had 4.5 stars I figured it would a great place to try. I ordered a Burrito to go. I wanted Al Pastor which is my favorite meat for a burrito. I told the waitress that I wanted Carne Asada seeing they didn't have Al Pastor. I ordered rice, whole beans, lettuce, and cheese. No guacamole, no sour cream no salsa, no Pico. I received my order and took it with me on the road to enjoy. Well when I opened up the container the burrito wasn't wrapped, but basically just folded on the sides, and on the ends, I could not even pick it up because all the ingredients would have fallen out, and because they put hot sauce over the top of the burrito so I couldn't pick it up. Inside was only meat, lettuce, and beans, NOT what I had asked for. I have had burritos all over CA., AZ., NM., and I can truly state this was the poorest example of a burrito I have ever consumed. Now I cannot speak about their other items, I did not try them, but I suggest to anyone who plans to eat at Amigo's, make real sure they understand what it is you want, and double check your order if it's take out. P.S. This burrito also cost $14.00....YIKES! I partially blame myself for not going back, but I was just to far away, and too hungry to have them make it over.
We've been coming here for several years and have been treated very well. I have a Service Dog who wears a clearly marked vest and have never had a problem until today. We were seated and a young girl came up telling us dogs aren't allowed. When I told her she was a Service Dog she said it didn't matter. She disappeared and another female came up telling us the same thing. When I explained she was a Service Dog she said it didn't matter and walked away. 15 minutes passed with others being seated and served ahead of us. We were totally ignored until my girlfriend walked up and asked if we were going to be served. After 20 minutes we finally got water, chips and salsa but there was definitely a tension in the room. We've been loyal customers for several years and have had great food and service. I sincerely hope this can be resolved in positive manner.
