Brownstone Bagels are good bagels for a quick grab and go! Onion bagel with bacon, egg and bacon cheddar cream cheese is excellent!

S
Sean Wilson

Delicious ham egg and cheese on a baked in the store everything bagel - can’t say enough ... sandwich was great and the service was friendly. Preparation was quick and the coffee is bold - outstanding, definitely stop by if you’re in the neighborhood

M

Amazing bagels!!!! Delicious assortment of bagels and cream cheese! Unfortunately they were out of the "Pumpernickel everything bagel" but I'm gonna try again tomorrow!

N
Noel Davenport

Sadly, no cinnamon rolls today. But the bagel was great. Lots of options. And I think they’re all made in house?? Thanks

J
Jose “Rog55”

Some dam good bagels. Yes it is more than what you would usually pay for a bagel (about 2.50)but that's pretty normal for more upscale bagel places. Got my bagel super fast and yes they do only take cash.

Yummy lox bagel + great service! 🥯

Best place to get bagels ever, also the only place I get bagels from! I go here every week. The staff is incredibly friendly and goes above and beyond to assist.

M
Mark Grzesiowski

Loved this place, Joseph the owner was an amazing person, had me and my father (Joseph) come back a second night in a row. Hopefully he opens up the coffee shop that he has planned in Toronto that way I could go more often!

S
Sean Munfield

Tried for the first time when waiting for our dog at the vet across the street. Insanely quick service and the bagels were extremely good. Would go back

N
Nick D

I am surprised they have such low ratings. This is a great bagel spot!! You should give them a try, they make everything fresh in house.

P
Peter Lynch

Good bagels just expensive to be honest but then again I would go back and recommend it because everyone was really nice and bagels were good.

M
Mylana Haydu

Hands down, the best tasting toasted bagel breakfast sandwich!

KEEP DOGS OUT!!! I love this place and the bagels are great but animals should not be allowed inside. If you have your dog take them home or leave them outside. Everyone doesn't love dogs and they should not be inside I have a dog but would never.. I have pics of dogs inside the shop as I wait to order. Tell your workers to enforce the FDA guidlenes

The other day I was running late but also really wanted an iced coffee; with 3 minutes before the next R train these guys helped me out super quickly and I’m very grateful! Excellent service : )

Great bagel shop! Super friendly staff, will definitely be visiting again while staying locally.

Major turning point in quarantine - Brownstone is back open!!! The best bagels in the neighborhood by far. Perfectly chewy, always fresh. They are also selling dried pastas and household supplies now (including toilet paper and bleach). Go support them!

A
Alan Arnowitz

Outstanding bagels and bialys. These taste as good as what I remember from my childhood. Many flavors of cream cheese. Good coffee and sandwiches on many kinds of bread. Gets crowded but the line moves quickly.

S
Stan&Diane Friesen

Huge variety of bagels and spreads. Friendly service and welcoming atmosphere.

Brownstone Bagels is the best!!! they have awesome and fresh stuff that all tastes amazing. Try their salmon salad - Seriously. My friend Ron bought a whole pound of it tonight. Joe is the best!!!

By far the best bagels in Brooklyn. Sometimes you can get lucky and get a groupon for a deal on a dozen. Their bagel sandwiches are amazing as well. Cash only.

Our go to bagel spot in Park Slope. The crew here is super fast and on-point! A tad on the pricey side but the bagels and sandwiches are great!

Easily the best bagels in NYC....the world! I have eaten a ton of bagels all of the 5 Burroughs and these are the best. Always fresh. Always soft. Always delicious. They dont even need any cream cheese....now that is saying something. Get there early, they sell fast. Friendly owners and staff. A must try if you are visiting the area and worth the drive if you are far away. Dooooo it!!!!!

Had the Vitinio on focaccia with a side of garlic aioli and it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Superb.

Incredible Bagel, I’m from out of state and it was life-changing, and came with a promotional free coffee

C

The atmosphere represented NY. I enjoyed walking in the place to see a pure bakery. Great bagels. I had the cinnamon with ham, egg and cheese. I will definitely come back when I visit NY.

L
Laura R. Sanchez

Love these bagels! Friendly staff was a plus! Just need to remember next time that it's cash only, but I bought a few to deliver to my Brooklyn-born brother who is now living out of state. These are exactly the way Brooklyn bagels should taste!

I was raised in Queens and if isn't boiled it isn't a bagel. Brownstone does it properly. Boiled and always fresh,. doughy but not to the point of being gummy. Great selection of spreads and a quick effective order and step to the side flow. They know how to properly toast a bagel which is definitely worth extra points in my book.

C
Charlie Yates

Good bagels, no wait. There was a line when we got there, but the line moves so quickly we were getting our bagels in less than 30 seconds. The bagels were really good too, huge and fresh. Overall this place is a really good and really inexpensive place for buying bagels.

D
Daniela Kucz

Excellent bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Have gone here a few times. Not quite sure why the reviews are so low because we’ve had a great experience each time. Perhaps the prices, but with the cost of ingredients and everything these days, seems fair to me.

K
Kevin Mulvaney

I almost never review but have to step in here. This spot is bangin. Great selection of cream cheeses (tofu included), appropriately fluffy bagels, fresh squeezed juices, solid meats, and the guys behind the counter are always pleasant and they hustle. Could it be more affordable? Sure. But it’s a corner space in Park Slope in 2024. I’d hardly say they’re gouging even if I’d prefer their rewards program were better.

Phenomenal bagels, and the nicest and accommodating folks working there I've seen in NYC. Made my morning and if I lived here I'd be a regular.

R
Rusty Rodriguez

Since I live in Jersey, I don't get to come out to this area often but these are the best bagels I've ever had in my life! (And I've been a professional chef and baker for years.) Crispy exterior, soft fluffy interior, generous and tasty cream cheese and plenty of other delicious options to choose from. It's a touch more expensive than a regular bagel but worth every penny considering the quality and taste. Highly recommend a visit!

P
Patricia Burzo

Bagels are delicious! Love the variety variety of cream cheeses especially the tofu cream cheese and I'm not even vegan but it's awesome! Sure sometimes is a little bit of a wait but it's a good bagel store. Read the review from Matthew who lives next door, I've been going there for 10 years I drive from Long Island to go to that bagel store and I've never seen any of the things he seen. Try them you wont be disappointed!

A
Alicia Parrish

The best bagel I've had since moving to NYC 2 years ago. Perfectly toasted, crispy on the outside, and so soft and chewy on the inside. Fast & friendly service too -- I ordered a bagel, egg, and cheese sandwich and was in and out in only about 5 minutes.

R
Ricky Soto

Incredible bagels, bring cash and you’ll save 12%! Make sure to try the sourdough everything bagel!!

A
Arielle H

Delicious bacon egg and cheese on an egg bagel. Wish it wasn’t a little over $9 but hey it’s park slope so I can’t expect it to be cheaper. Nice staff, bagels are soft and fresh!

J
Justin Kotowicz

I am a frequent at this bagel store. Bacon egg and cheese is my go to order almost every Sunday. There bagels are always fresh Happy I found this spot!

R
Roxanne Miller

[EDIT] They did away with the seamless ordering system and are now my favorite egg and cheese in brooklyn. worth a visit! used to love this place, but our past few experiences have bee so unpleasant i won't return. they have switched over to a seamless program for ordering that is pure chaos, and online orders seem to take massive priority of those people in line at the store. we waited 20 minutes for our sandwiches, which weren't even on the right bagel selection (if we interacted in person this could have been communicated but they totally avoid all in person customers now) and the bagels themselves were very undercooked with random toppings we didn't order. too bad, this was the GO TO spot for years... i hope they reconsider the way they are handling orders

L
Leo Fisher-Dayn

Best bagels in NYC! I get an Egg bagel with butter every morning and I have to say it really is the best way to start off a morning. The bagel is right out the oven, soft and fluffy. I’ve never had a better bagel then at Brown Stone Bagels

J
Jenna Gervasio

3.9 stars ???? You have to be kidding me with these ridiculous bad reviews. If your complaining about the price then go a mediocre bagel spot. First off, all of their bagels and bread are made by hand in the store and are high quality. All of their salads and deli counter items are delicious and made with love. Everything is incredibly fresh and the service is great. Sandwiches are awesome too. Its worth the price, you're paying for the quality and time to make this delicious food. I'm a foodie, I wouldn't review this place if it was bad.

Picked up a quick bite to go yesterday. Gianna was friendly and attentive. Their bagels are soft and doughy. First time I heard of salt & pepper bagels! They also had delicious looking muffins. The shop has a cute shelf decor showcasing some interesting items which I assume was collected over the years.

Flew in from LA Wednesday morning and decided to try a NY bagel for the first time ever and it was amazing! Had their garlic bagel with jalapeño Asiago and bacon cheddar cream cheese!

You guys should come here, because I would hate to see a good spot close and leaving soul less bodegas behind) This is a great sandwich place that happens to be using bagels as their bread. Other bagel spots build sandwiches as an after thought - they do provide you with good bagels, but other ingredients are subpar. Not here though! They were extremely friendly too!

This store bagel was awesome, fresh & good tests 10/10. Not too space for eating here, if weather permit you can eat outside limited chair. All foods very good quality . Price is little higher than the regular .

Brownstone was around the corner from our hotel so they got us in the door with convenience. The bombs got us back the next day! First visit: salt & pepper bagel with bacon scallion cream cheese and plain bombolini - that donut will ruin you for life. 2nd visit: egg and bacon on everything + bialy (tomato and ricotta) and a slice of cheesecake. The bialy was ON POINT - soft, warm, little doughy and hint of garlic. When you stop here, look in the case with the bombs and claim one before you do anything else! You’ll never look at a Krispy Kreme again. The owner brought the tray of fresh bialy out when we stepped inside and I knew I had to try it. Cheesecake is a very subjective topic so will say that this one was excellent in our opinion. Nice, firm texture and not overwhelming. A shared slice was perfect. Owner said he’s been making cheesecake since he was 15 - he’s got the hang of it! 😉 Sorry - no pics of the bombolini. No one here has that kind of self control.

In looking for a place to have breakfast, we wandered in off the street to Brownstone Bagels. Brownstone Bagels has a delicious assortment of bagels, and sandwiches, along with several other items on the menu. One thing that I really noticed about this establishment was the customer service. There was a mistake in my order (could’ve been a miscommunication on our part), and the young woman behind the counter could not have been more accommodating and apologetic. One never knows when they approach the counter to make a return what kind of feedback they’re going to receive. They immediately remade my order and continued to apologize in a way other businesses should emulate. My avocado toast was delicious, and my husband‘s peanut butter and banana bagel was top-notch.

Visited here in February as was right across from our hotel. we bought an Everything bagel with butter and a coffee on the first day of our trip - we were SOLD, made it our 1st stop of each day before going off sightseeing. Have not managed to find a bagel as fresh or tasty since.

This is a completely unsubstantiated rumor, but me and my wife believe there is a hint of vanilla in the egg bagels, which makes them taste a bit like yellow cake mix. If you stumble across this review, definitely give the egg bagels here a try. Everything else here is excellent too.

I've been coming to Brownstone for years now, and they're consistently the best bagels in the neighborhood. Great service, too - I ordered delivery, and when I let them know I'd missed an item, they not only replaced the missing bagel but gave me the cream cheese I wanted to add, gratis. Excellent bagel shop, excellent people.

We stopped in this bagel shop because it was close to our hotel. We went to 4 different bagel places during our short 4 day visit to NYC and this was by far the best one! The bagels were so fresh and fluffy and delicious. They had a few options for vegan cream cheese as well. This was the first bagel place we went to and the other 3, including Liberty, did not come close to Brownstone quality. The service was great and we were happy they had some outdoor seating as well.

Gets the job done. Good assortment of bagels and bialys. The bialy variety pushed this up to a 4⭐. $15 everything with lox, cc, tomato, onion, cukes and capers. I thought the lox was a little skimpy for the price. But a fair sandwich in the end. Make sure you ask them to toast your bagel or you're getting a sad doughy bread with cold cream cheese.

N

Usually my go to spot for bagels when staying at Sonder. Great service, bagels are delicious. Jalapeño cream cheese could be spicier.

T
Tia Monroe

Nice place with a good variety of cream cheeses and meats . They also have vegan options and a interesting muffin selection, pastries etc... A bit on the expensive side but if you want better quality food you'll pay for it. Its not a big place and the line can get long fast. The 2 guys move it pretty well from what i seen so far.

J
James Thomas

I love their chicken salad it is delicious, but I had a problem yesterday I got there around 5:30 and the chicken salad bagel I got had hardly any chicken on it when I got home I basically had a $6.50 bagel with nothing on it. I suggest going in the morning the early crew is great, but when they change shifts the quality of service is horrible.

A
Amber Marlow

The best in Brooklyn. They're boiled, which is the key "New York City" delicious! Make your selections before you get in line - it moves quickly, like that episode of Seinfeld with the soup. Try to see what's hot and fresh, and snag one of those (untoasted, for the love!)

M
Mark Trumpbour

A few years ago, A.R.E.A. Bagels was the gold standard for bagels in this segment of Park Slope. While nobody can say why their original owners suddenly sold their business, since that bagel shop closed, Brownstone is your best bet for quality bagels in the neighborhood. Lines can be long, but they move the customers through. I've deducted a star for being a cash-only business, because when you're paying almost $9 for two untoasted bagels with specialty spreads, it's easy to see why their lack of a way to accept plastic is a disservice to their customers.

S
Seto Jojn

The cafe is nicely decorated, and social distancing is attempted but challenging as the morning crowds increase. The Crab Cakes Benedict were good with just the right amount of hollandaise sauce. The potatoes, though, were from a package and lacked the taste, crispness, and flavor to go with the expectation of a homemade meal.

d
d_i_e_s_e_1

Only came here because, as far as i know, they’re the only spot that has pork bacon off the union train station. All the delis surrounding have beef. I understand with inflation the prices of everything are going up but $10 for a bacon egg n cheese is criminal. Id maybe pay $5-6 for this. If u got money burning a hole in your pocket i guess this is the spot for you.

E
Emily Kelly

Bagels are delicious but I agree with other reviewers the prices are outrageous and it seems every time I go it's a different price and I always buy 6 bagels to go 🤷

j

Got a bacon egg & cheese. It was good, but not $10 good. Tf. Will not be back. It costs them less than half that to make. Lower your prices.

Food is ok, bagel with cream cheese and a large coffee $10 bucks. too rich for my blood. but good spot. respond to owner response.. I was charged $5.25 bagel cream cheese and $4.50 for large coffee.

This rating is for the (plain) bagel only. Wish we had a 10 point scale as the bagel was more like a 7 so between 3/4 here. It’s a solid, nyc bagel. Harder outside with soft inside. Outside isn’t too hard which is great I just wished it was a bit fluffier all around. Honestly though you can’t go wrong with the bagel here. It’s much better than more well known nyc bagel places (I shall not drop names) and a good size bagel too. Overall solid bagel just personally wished it was a bit more my style but that’s just me! Btw place is super cool (lots of other baked goods) and staff is nice. Small place so you’ll need to eat outside or take home.

C
Catherine Nguyen

I got the salt and pepper bagel. The bagel was so salty. I spent 10 minutes scraping salt off but the top was still covered in salt.

S
Steven Nuzzi

Staff is always very helpful and quick. The bagels however have declined in quality. Went at noon on an August Wed and they were out of Everything Bagels, they had no Bomboli and the bagels on my egg sandwich and my wife's bagel and lox were clearly not fresh. Both were very dry. They tasted like they were a day old. For $17 the bagel and lox should be much better Sorry to say I won:t be back.

Update: they've removed the seamless kiosks since I wrote this. Still not my favorite spot in the area, but they haven't gotten my order wrong and have been quick at the counter since the kiosks were taken out. Definitely an improvement. Ever since they installed the seamless kiosks, going here has been a frustrating mess. I've walked out after standing around for ten minutes waiting for someone to start taking orders at the counter multiple times. And when they do actually take my order, they get it wrong more than half the time, even with simple orders like cream cheese on a bagel. I've started going far out of my way on my morning commute just to stop at a decent bagel place. Prices are higher than other bagel places in the area as well. They should have one seamless kiosk at most, and people waiting at the counter should be their first priority. There's not enough space for them to be taking orders in four different places

Slightly stale bagel with what I assume to be Philadelphia cream cheese. For $4.50 you're better going to a bodega or paying another dollar for a good bagel from something like bagel pub or la bagel delight.

Jeff Hunter

No coffee prices listed, so was shocked about the $5.50 iced coffee! Yikes. Also 4% credit card fee.

Been here a few times and usually there is no issue. The atm in the store was broken and they have no resource to accept anything but cash. I now have wasted my break at work to still not have a sandwich. It's 2019....have a backup plan at least when no cash is available.

They go CHEAP on the cream cheese. See attached photo.

I came here a few days ago because was craving a bacon egg and cheese on a poppy seed bagel. The bagel was good, and the service was average but more than anything, I was shocked to pay $9.68 for a bacon egg and cheese. I did not expect to pay bodega prices (~$5-6) but $10 is ridiculous. That is not inflation, it’s price gouging.

The bagel was pretty stale at 10am. Felt like a yesterday/day before bagel. I would be fine with that had it been at like…5pm towards closing, but the bagel was super hard to bite into and it was crumbly in that stale-bagel-way at 10am?? 😵‍💫

Oh brownstone bagels how I wish you had competition because you are pretty terrible. Been in the neighborhood for over ten years and have seen you change ownership but one thing that is a constant is my wish for a better bagel spot. My simple order falls apart after two blocks every single time. I write this as I scoop my capers, tomato and cream cheese into my mouth with my fingers because your bagel melted. #rip

I enter to order on one of the kiosks to be told grill is closed. I'm offered the food again just to be told item I selected is no more. Then I'm told to being charged extra for my selection. Sorry but the hood was about to come out of me. FOH never entering that place again

Payment/pickup system is trash, takes super long and states that order is done even though you need to wait 10 more mins. Had to wait 25 mins total for 1 bagel that was nothing special.

DO NOT GO HERE. This place is a scam and definitely should be looked into for tax evasion. The prices are whatever they feel like. When I was asked to pay $17 for two bagels and an orange juice, I asked for a receipt. They got angry with me and scribbled the order total on a piece of paper. Nothing itemized. The food was average.

I’ve never waited so long to pay so much for so little. This place is completely disorganized even with 2 people in line and they will overcharge you. Whoever is calling this the “best bagels in Brooklyn” is heavily drugged or just always starving. I live next door and avoid at all cost

My first time here. I got there at 7:10am and door was locked. (Opens at 7) I knocked and everybody ignored me. Then I called and someone picked up but didn’t say anything. Finally someone came from the outside where I was and unlocked the door and said bagels would be ready in 5 minutes. That was ok so I sat and waited. As i sat there I heard a sneeze. Then I looked over at the woman doing the food prep at the counter and she sneezed 2 more times right over the food. Didn’t even try to cover up. So gross 🤢🤢🤮. I got up immediately and said that was disgusting and left.

Would be 0/5 stars if possible. Ordered a few breakfast sandwiches & some coffees. When they were ready I went up to pay. I saw that they were a cash only establishment and handed them a $100 bill. They wouldn't accept it, citing no reason as to why. I asked if they had an ATM and they said yes. It was out of order and not functional. They then told me to go to an ATM down the street. I said no, I offered a perfectly good piece of US currency. I left without any food.

Bought whole wheat bagel with cream cheese and it felt like my bagel was hard and no cream cheese inside definitely won’t be returning there horrible I rather go somewhere else and prices are insane 5$ for bagel I can get a pack at Whole Foods for 5-6$

P

They are trying to rip you off every which way. "Cash only" with an "offline ATM" that charged $3.25 per transaction. They tell me my total is $32 and then after I take money out of their ATM, they tell me it's $46. No. What is an ATM doing charging $3.25? WhY is a modern business cash only? And how is that an acceptable thing to do to customers?!?!?!

I came in here this morning and put in and paid for a small order for a few bagels on their self-order system. Wait time was stated at 6 minutes. After waiting for over 25 minutes I had to leave without my food to catch a flight. There were still 6 orders in front of mine to be filled. I understand it was a holiday and hey were busy, but this was a little outrageous.

Very overpriced for the quality of these bagels but not many options within a walking distance unfortunately.

M

The prices are ridiculous i.understand there is not much competition nearby but fleecing your customers an everything bagel and small coffee was over $ 10 nothing special here. If u have money u hate and wanna throw away than this is the bagel shop for you. Than they have the audacity to ask for a tip at the register. This should cost no more than $ 6.50 Will never be back again

Stopped in for a bagel and snack. The bagel was mediocre and the muffin taste 3 days old. Even after warming the bagel and muffin the staleness was still present. Usually boutique bagel shops are good but not this one. Cheap ingredients yield mediocre products. I'll even give the excuse it is Sunday. But still no excuse.

They completely gave me the wrong order after I tripe attempted to confirm it.

Bagel was stale. It tasted a few days old. I paid $8 for one bagel with cream cheese. The menu does not have any prices on them, so you are rolling a dice. If you’re looking for fresh bagels, do not go to this place. There’s plenty other options in Brooklyn too chose from.

10am on a Sunday and I was served a cold, dry, and stale bagel that tasted like it was straight out of the refrigerator from yesterday. You should be embarrassed serving this garbage to your customers. Definitely not coming back here. If you want good bagels, keep walking. You won't find them here.

How can you have a bagel shop in Brooklyn that doesn’t open until 7am? What about people that work for a living, construction or EMT or service or whatever? We need to have breakfast too and the hours this place is open are an insult

Literally the worst bagel i have ever put in my mouth. Bacon under cooked, sausage patty terrible, bagel was burnt, stale and flavorless. No one from New York goes here. I never leave reviews but it was so bad I had to. Absolutely terrible. At least the service was good but food was absolutely disgusting. Save your money and dont waste your time
