Opinions de Brownstone Bread & Bagel Company Brooklyn
Excellent bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Have gone here a few times. Not quite sure why the reviews are so low because we’ve had a great experience each time. Perhaps the prices, but with the cost of ingredients and everything these days, seems fair to me.
I almost never review but have to step in here. This spot is bangin. Great selection of cream cheeses (tofu included), appropriately fluffy bagels, fresh squeezed juices, solid meats, and the guys behind the counter are always pleasant and they hustle. Could it be more affordable? Sure. But it’s a corner space in Park Slope in 2024. I’d hardly say they’re gouging even if I’d prefer their rewards program were better.
Phenomenal bagels, and the nicest and accommodating folks working there I've seen in NYC. Made my morning and if I lived here I'd be a regular.
Since I live in Jersey, I don't get to come out to this area often but these are the best bagels I've ever had in my life! (And I've been a professional chef and baker for years.) Crispy exterior, soft fluffy interior, generous and tasty cream cheese and plenty of other delicious options to choose from. It's a touch more expensive than a regular bagel but worth every penny considering the quality and taste. Highly recommend a visit!
Bagels are delicious! Love the variety variety of cream cheeses especially the tofu cream cheese and I'm not even vegan but it's awesome! Sure sometimes is a little bit of a wait but it's a good bagel store. Read the review from Matthew who lives next door, I've been going there for 10 years I drive from Long Island to go to that bagel store and I've never seen any of the things he seen. Try them you wont be disappointed!
The best bagel I've had since moving to NYC 2 years ago. Perfectly toasted, crispy on the outside, and so soft and chewy on the inside. Fast & friendly service too -- I ordered a bagel, egg, and cheese sandwich and was in and out in only about 5 minutes.
Incredible bagels, bring cash and you’ll save 12%! Make sure to try the sourdough everything bagel!!
Delicious bacon egg and cheese on an egg bagel. Wish it wasn’t a little over $9 but hey it’s park slope so I can’t expect it to be cheaper. Nice staff, bagels are soft and fresh!
I am a frequent at this bagel store. Bacon egg and cheese is my go to order almost every Sunday. There bagels are always fresh Happy I found this spot!
[EDIT] They did away with the seamless ordering system and are now my favorite egg and cheese in brooklyn. worth a visit! used to love this place, but our past few experiences have bee so unpleasant i won't return. they have switched over to a seamless program for ordering that is pure chaos, and online orders seem to take massive priority of those people in line at the store. we waited 20 minutes for our sandwiches, which weren't even on the right bagel selection (if we interacted in person this could have been communicated but they totally avoid all in person customers now) and the bagels themselves were very undercooked with random toppings we didn't order. too bad, this was the GO TO spot for years... i hope they reconsider the way they are handling orders
Best bagels in NYC! I get an Egg bagel with butter every morning and I have to say it really is the best way to start off a morning. The bagel is right out the oven, soft and fluffy. I’ve never had a better bagel then at Brown Stone Bagels
3.9 stars ???? You have to be kidding me with these ridiculous bad reviews. If your complaining about the price then go a mediocre bagel spot. First off, all of their bagels and bread are made by hand in the store and are high quality. All of their salads and deli counter items are delicious and made with love. Everything is incredibly fresh and the service is great. Sandwiches are awesome too. Its worth the price, you're paying for the quality and time to make this delicious food. I'm a foodie, I wouldn't review this place if it was bad.
Picked up a quick bite to go yesterday. Gianna was friendly and attentive. Their bagels are soft and doughy. First time I heard of salt & pepper bagels! They also had delicious looking muffins. The shop has a cute shelf decor showcasing some interesting items which I assume was collected over the years.
Stopped here on my way out of the city, there was a constant flow of people but never got over crowded. It was walkable from the hotel I stayed at, great tasting breakfast sandwich and would come again!
Flew in from LA Wednesday morning and decided to try a NY bagel for the first time ever and it was amazing! Had their garlic bagel with jalapeño Asiago and bacon cheddar cream cheese!
You guys should come here, because I would hate to see a good spot close and leaving soul less bodegas behind) This is a great sandwich place that happens to be using bagels as their bread. Other bagel spots build sandwiches as an after thought - they do provide you with good bagels, but other ingredients are subpar. Not here though! They were extremely friendly too!
This store bagel was awesome, fresh & good tests 10/10. Not too space for eating here, if weather permit you can eat outside limited chair. All foods very good quality . Price is little higher than the regular .
Brownstone was around the corner from our hotel so they got us in the door with convenience. The bombs got us back the next day! First visit: salt & pepper bagel with bacon scallion cream cheese and plain bombolini - that donut will ruin you for life. 2nd visit: egg and bacon on everything + bialy (tomato and ricotta) and a slice of cheesecake. The bialy was ON POINT - soft, warm, little doughy and hint of garlic. When you stop here, look in the case with the bombs and claim one before you do anything else! You’ll never look at a Krispy Kreme again. The owner brought the tray of fresh bialy out when we stepped inside and I knew I had to try it. Cheesecake is a very subjective topic so will say that this one was excellent in our opinion. Nice, firm texture and not overwhelming. A shared slice was perfect. Owner said he’s been making cheesecake since he was 15 - he’s got the hang of it! 😉 Sorry - no pics of the bombolini. No one here has that kind of self control.
Stopped in to try the bagels 🥯 . Hands down you can tell this place makes them fresh. The everything bagel is everything you'd want it to be, add the mile high cream cheese for the win! A must stop and try place. We'll be back.

In looking for a place to have breakfast, we wandered in off the street to Brownstone Bagels. Brownstone Bagels has a delicious assortment of bagels, and sandwiches, along with several other items on the menu. One thing that I really noticed about this establishment was the customer service. There was a mistake in my order (could’ve been a miscommunication on our part), and the young woman behind the counter could not have been more accommodating and apologetic. One never knows when they approach the counter to make a return what kind of feedback they’re going to receive. They immediately remade my order and continued to apologize in a way other businesses should emulate. My avocado toast was delicious, and my husband‘s peanut butter and banana bagel was top-notch.
Visited here in February as was right across from our hotel. we bought an Everything bagel with butter and a coffee on the first day of our trip - we were SOLD, made it our 1st stop of each day before going off sightseeing. Have not managed to find a bagel as fresh or tasty since.
Absolutely delicious. 10/10. no notes. 2 bagels with flavored cream cheese, 16$. Big dude at the counter was amazing, idk his name, but bro does a good job.
I LOVE this spot. I always get the zaatar bagel, untoasted, with lox spread and avocado, it’s the best way to start my day. And the staff is always so friendly - and they’re very generous with the schmear
This is a completely unsubstantiated rumor, but me and my wife believe there is a hint of vanilla in the egg bagels, which makes them taste a bit like yellow cake mix. If you stumble across this review, definitely give the egg bagels here a try. Everything else here is excellent too.
I've been coming to Brownstone for years now, and they're consistently the best bagels in the neighborhood. Great service, too - I ordered delivery, and when I let them know I'd missed an item, they not only replaced the missing bagel but gave me the cream cheese I wanted to add, gratis. Excellent bagel shop, excellent people.
We stopped in this bagel shop because it was close to our hotel. We went to 4 different bagel places during our short 4 day visit to NYC and this was by far the best one! The bagels were so fresh and fluffy and delicious. They had a few options for vegan cream cheese as well. This was the first bagel place we went to and the other 3, including Liberty, did not come close to Brownstone quality. The service was great and we were happy they had some outdoor seating as well.
Got a BEC on an everything bagel. Fast service, delicious food, reasonable prices, service with a smile. Stop by!

Gets the job done. Good assortment of bagels and bialys. The bialy variety pushed this up to a 4⭐. $15 everything with lox, cc, tomato, onion, cukes and capers. I thought the lox was a little skimpy for the price. But a fair sandwich in the end. Make sure you ask them to toast your bagel or you're getting a sad doughy bread with cold cream cheese.
Only came here because, as far as i know, they’re the only spot that has pork bacon off the union train station. All the delis surrounding have beef. I understand with inflation the prices of everything are going up but $10 for a bacon egg n cheese is criminal. Id maybe pay $5-6 for this. If u got money burning a hole in your pocket i guess this is the spot for you.
I got the salt and pepper bagel. The bagel was so salty. I spent 10 minutes scraping salt off but the top was still covered in salt.
Staff is always very helpful and quick. The bagels however have declined in quality. Went at noon on an August Wed and they were out of Everything Bagels, they had no Bomboli and the bagels on my egg sandwich and my wife's bagel and lox were clearly not fresh. Both were very dry. They tasted like they were a day old. For $17 the bagel and lox should be much better Sorry to say I won:t be back.
Update: they've removed the seamless kiosks since I wrote this. Still not my favorite spot in the area, but they haven't gotten my order wrong and have been quick at the counter since the kiosks were taken out. Definitely an improvement. Ever since they installed the seamless kiosks, going here has been a frustrating mess. I've walked out after standing around for ten minutes waiting for someone to start taking orders at the counter multiple times. And when they do actually take my order, they get it wrong more than half the time, even with simple orders like cream cheese on a bagel. I've started going far out of my way on my morning commute just to stop at a decent bagel place. Prices are higher than other bagel places in the area as well. They should have one seamless kiosk at most, and people waiting at the counter should be their first priority. There's not enough space for them to be taking orders in four different places
I came here a few days ago because was craving a bacon egg and cheese on a poppy seed bagel. The bagel was good, and the service was average but more than anything, I was shocked to pay $9.68 for a bacon egg and cheese. I did not expect to pay bodega prices (~$5-6) but $10 is ridiculous. That is not inflation, it’s price gouging.
The bagel was pretty stale at 10am. Felt like a yesterday/day before bagel. I would be fine with that had it been at like…5pm towards closing, but the bagel was super hard to bite into and it was crumbly in that stale-bagel-way at 10am?? 😵💫
Oh brownstone bagels how I wish you had competition because you are pretty terrible. Been in the neighborhood for over ten years and have seen you change ownership but one thing that is a constant is my wish for a better bagel spot. My simple order falls apart after two blocks every single time. I write this as I scoop my capers, tomato and cream cheese into my mouth with my fingers because your bagel melted. #rip

Very overpriced for the quality of these bagels but not many options within a walking distance unfortunately.
The prices are ridiculous i.understand there is not much competition nearby but fleecing your customers an everything bagel and small coffee was over $ 10 nothing special here. If u have money u hate and wanna throw away than this is the bagel shop for you. Than they have the audacity to ask for a tip at the register. This should cost no more than $ 6.50 Will never be back again
Stopped in for a bagel and snack. The bagel was mediocre and the muffin taste 3 days old. Even after warming the bagel and muffin the staleness was still present. Usually boutique bagel shops are good but not this one. Cheap ingredients yield mediocre products. I'll even give the excuse it is Sunday. But still no excuse.
They completely gave me the wrong order after I tripe attempted to confirm it.
Bagel was stale. It tasted a few days old. I paid $8 for one bagel with cream cheese. The menu does not have any prices on them, so you are rolling a dice. If you’re looking for fresh bagels, do not go to this place. There’s plenty other options in Brooklyn too chose from.
10am on a Sunday and I was served a cold, dry, and stale bagel that tasted like it was straight out of the refrigerator from yesterday. You should be embarrassed serving this garbage to your customers. Definitely not coming back here. If you want good bagels, keep walking. You won't find them here.

How can you have a bagel shop in Brooklyn that doesn’t open until 7am? What about people that work for a living, construction or EMT or service or whatever? We need to have breakfast too and the hours this place is open are an insult
Literally the worst bagel i have ever put in my mouth. Bacon under cooked, sausage patty terrible, bagel was burnt, stale and flavorless. No one from New York goes here. I never leave reviews but it was so bad I had to. Absolutely terrible. At least the service was good but food was absolutely disgusting. Save your money and dont waste your time
