My favorite vegan treat in the five boroughs. I could eat a dozen a day if I were physically and financially capable of it. Literally zero bad options. You could blindly pick and be enshrouded in the best flavor combinations you've had on a fluffy doughnut. They also freeze and reheat well (hint hint wink wink). Everyone I've shared these with has adored them. The shop is so cozy and the staff are amazingly patient and helpful!
mmmmm donuts 🤤 We visited last year and visit Everytime we come to Brooklyn. One of my absolute favorite places in all of NYC. Some of the most delectable donuts ever - and all incredibly vegan! Our favorites are the strawberry frosted, plain glazed and blueberry - just wish we didn't have to be masked to enter and there's no inside dining, kind of throws off the vibe, BUT, that won't deter us from visiting when we're next in town!
Great A/C. Chill place, Thats affordable, kosher, all vegan donuts. I love making my own custom drink with syrup. Like horchata latte with maple spice. The basil peach 🍑 donut is amazing.
These are some of the best donuts I’ve tasted in my entire life. There tons of really cool and creative options, and the donuts themselves are presented really nicely. This spot is also decent if for working on a computer in the morning. They have coffee, tea, free WiFi, and decent table space.
I honestly don't want to tell you how many doughnuts we ate from Dunwell, but let's just say it's more than what I have pictured here. Dunwell honestly has the BEST doughnuts I have ever had, vegan or otherwise. The doughnuts are vegan and mouth-wateringly delicious. Make sure you go early so you can get your pick of all of the flavors. Glazed, cinnamon sugar, maple, chocolate, lemon, the list goes on!
Lovely vegan donuts so delicious! I accidentally got the wrong donut (strawberry shortcake vs strawberry donut very similar names). They quickly replaced with the donut I wanted which was the shortcake one and I'm so glad I got it it was my favorite. The matcha latte was a great combination with it. Clean, comfy environment, and friendly staff.
Ok these donuts go crazy. I'm not even vegan but they are amazing. The plain glaze is good as any other glazed donut I have ever had in my life. The workers were also so so nice and I didn't feel rushed to make decisions. Also, I went on a Friday morning and it was empty which is awesome and it was easy to park out front too.
Phenomenal donuts. My favorite. I hear Theyre vegan and animal cruelty free so thats cool too
We were so excited to stop here for donuts on our trip to New York - this was one of our first stops!!! The donut shop is so quaint and there was a huge line out the door ! We were so excited to see all of the options and ordered a bunch to try them! They were so soft and delicious - I dream of these donuts!!! If you are traveling to New York you MUST grab some donuts here!!!
Don’t knock it til you try it just because they’re vegan. I’m an absolute omnivore and these are my favorite donuts is NYC!
These donuts are crack. I don’t even like donuts like that, so when my friend suggested we place an order for a half-dozen of them for delivery I had a “whatever” mindset. I was so wrong and completely blown away. Then, I found out they’re vegan too! This is definitely a must-try and you can’t go wrong with any of the flavors they have.
In the Williamsburg area the word 'artisan' is thrown around quite liberally in many places. Dun-well is one of the few places that is accurate in calling their food artisanal! The creativity in each creation makes them a true one-of-a-kind. Every flavor is thoughtful, fun, and absolutely delicious! There's something for everyone, from simple favorites to spectacular originals. Once you have a donut Dun-well... you'll never settle for it done any other way. ❤️
Best vegan donuts I've ever had. Not only can you not tell that they are vegan, they absolutely clear most non vegan donuts in flavor and texture
They are vegan but they’re hands down top 3 donuts in nyc! I’m not even vegan
Vegan Doughnuts!!! And they are not lacking in any flavor. I was so pleasantly surprised...better than DOUGH!! Their maple doughnut is my favorite, sherbet is so good too. If you are into latte's, try their french toast or gingerbread ones!!! Lots of seats and a booth by the window. And right by the L train. I will def be back.
Oh my gosh!! Such a cute shop. The donuts are absolutely to die for, and the Rose London Fog is the best London Fog I've ever had. I am so happy we stumbled upon Dun-Well, they DO Doughnuts VERY well. Absolutely worth picking up for special occasions, or to treat yourself! Pina Colada and Mango Tajin were on point and my favs.
Every time I visit from Atlanta I make sure I make a stop at dunwell! I absolutely love the Boston cream. And I love that the flavors change daily so I can try different donuts before I leave to go back home. I grew up in Queens and drive all the way to Brooklyn just for donuts. I absolutely love the map of the area where they show vegan restaurants 🖤🖤🖤
Always incredible all vegan doughnuts. Aside from the rotating flavors, has barely changed at all in the last 12 years.
My organization hosted a special event on Friday evening and our desserts were Dun-Well's incredible, indulgent, and just plain yummy donuts. We had a delicious assortment of Dun-Well's gourmet flavors. The super-friendly Dun-Well team helped recommend the flavors for us and by the end of the night, all that was left were some crumbs! The donuts were so fresh, had such a rich aroma and our guests raved about them. Not calling anyone out but I think most folks went in for seconds :) I can't wait to work with them again and look forward to popping into their lovely shop to just grab one for myself. Such deliciousness served with a smile. Thank you, Dun-Well Team, for making our event extra special and for being so kind, friendly and professional!
🍩🍩🍩 Let me get this out in the open. I am vegan, have traveled all over the USA and have been on the hunt for that perfect vegan doughnut... Dun Well Doughnuts have won that award in my book. Located in a street with lots of cafes and shops, Dun Well Doughnuts is appeasing from the outside and in! Beautiful, vintage themed doughnut shop with so much to look at. Then you walk up to the doughnut case and just think WOW, so many vegan doughnut choices. The man working was friendly and packaged up my 3 doughnuts I eagerly ordered- I had read so many great things about this place, I was thinking are the reviews right? They had a fresh cart coming out from the back looking like they where going to refill the doughnut case, and he grabbed all the fresh ones off the cart instead of the case for me. Myself and my friend where blown away by how amazing these doughnuts where. Strawberry, vanilla, chocolate and blueberry PB, each one was a treat. They have a great texture, cakey, rich, flavorful, with fresh sweet frosting on top. I have been to a vegan doughnut shop in Philadelphia, Denver and the famous Voo Doo in Portland, and Dun Well Doughnuts wins in first place for the best vegan doughnuts. Now I am far away from Brooklyn, and dreaming of these tasty doughnuts. Go, enjoy and try as many as you can... you will fall in love.
As vegan doughnuts, they are amazingly light and fluffy. The assortment of flavors tastes great. Not overly sweet, super soft, gooey but gushy, OMG, so many words to express this experience. Definitely will be trying all. Come early because once they sold out, that's it for the day.
I had a pistachio doughnut and a peanut butter & jelly doughnut. The pistachio was super soft, delicious, overall amazing -- 5 stars for that. I thought I tasted marzipan, maybe that's part of the glaze? The PB&J was merely good, though I think I enjoyed it more when I thought of it the way the clerk described it, as "a decadent PB&J sandwich".
I’ll never forget my first few times here back in the day, loving these amazing donuts. I saw a customer with a huge VEGAN arm tattoo munching away at 3 donuts (well isn’t he silly, donuts aren’t vegan!) and that’s how I learned this place not only perfected the vegan donuts but THE donut. I love to take people here, have them proclaim it’s one of if not the best ever and then break their mindset :) the strawberry sprinkle is perfect but I’ve never had a flavor here I didn’t like. So happy to have this be from my hometown, best city and donuts in the world!
Who knew vegan doughnuts actually taste good? Normally when I hear vegan or gluten free, I normally picture a really dense doughnut. This was the exact opposite: it was light, chewy and fluffy. However the toppings were a bit too sweet but it’s nothing a latte can solve. Note: They only offer alternative milks (oat, almond, soy, etc...), not regular milk for your drinks.
Vegan donut shop. You can’t tell which is extremely impressive! We had almondine, pumpkin cheesecake and strawberry sprinkles. Each regular donut is $3.50 but it’s well worth it - these are some of the best donuts I’ve ever had. They also have French press coffee which was very solid. NB you can’t eat or drink inside at all, just for takeaway
I'm not the kind of person who likes donuts. I mean I never eat them. But I'm in USA for the first time and wanted to know their specialty pastry. With all that being said: the Pistacchio donut from Dun-Well is ON POINT. The whole texture felt like a cloud, so soft, and the glazing was just delicious. And they are vegan! It definitely adds points.
Best vegan donuts I have ever eaten in my life. This is not hyperbole. They’re fresh, soft, and delicious, and everyone who works there is so pleasant. It’s a 40 minute drive for me on a good day and it’s worth it every single time.
Went about 10:30 am on Easter Sunday, and there was a line almost out the door... about 10 customers ahead of me. There is some stool seating in the store and a few benches outside. All the selection is vegan. The donuts are great, and unless someone told you they were vegan, one would be hard pressed to tell the difference. It's worth a revisit to try the other flavors.
Absolutely delicious donuts. I didn’t even realize that this was a vegan donut place. They have a variety of flavors, some of which I believe are seasonal. We had the pistachio and blueberry donuts. Absolutely delicious; 10/10 would recommend. There is no indoor seating but there is some outdoor seating. The line was out the door when we arrived but absolutely well worth the wait!!!
LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH!! MY FAVORITE!! I go here so often, it's actually dangerous for me that they are so close to my house, because I can easily go everyday, even when I'm trying not to eat sweets that much currently. They're just SO good, so I have to, can't help it. The customer service is AMAZING every single time, everyone is so sweet. When I first went there like 5-ish years ago, I asked if any of the doughnuts are vegan, and I was told the store is 100% vegan, LOVE IT! The drinks are really good as well. I've gotten many friends to go to Dun-Well and they have fallen in love just like me. They also order Dun-Well at my job as treats for everyone, and when they do that, it just makes the day 100x better. I appreciate this place so much and all the hard work the staff puts in. They work extremely hard and provide top quality service EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Literally after a hard day at work, I say, "I deserve to go to Dun-Well"... and I do! Thinking I might go after work today too!! haha Thank you guys for amazing service every time! :)
I love the donuts here and how often they switch up the flavors! And the iced latte is consistently really good too. I’m not usually in this neighborhood but when I am it’s a must visit every time
I could probably fill an album for all the vegan doughnuts pictures I have lol. I can’t believe how I haven’t come to here sooner since I'm only 30-45 min away, but we were there on a Saturday basically when they opened for the day and the doughnuts were so so fresh 👌🏾 and they were soft and even had a slight crunch on the outside. I got the Triple Chocolate and the Boston Creme, and my wife got the Almondine and the Banana Pudding Maple Pecan. I also got a regular drip coffee with soy creamer! My wife got a latte that was super creamy. Thanks Dunwell Doughnuts for the wonderful service and amazing doughnuts!
Dun-Well Doughnuts is a Brooklyn staple for a reason. The doughnuts are soft, fresh, and packed with flavor—always creative without being over the top. It’s the kind of spot where you can grab a classic glazed or try something fun and seasonal, and either way, you leave happy. The shop itself has a cool, low-key vibe, and the staff is always welcoming. Whether you’re vegan or not, these doughnuts stand on their own—delicious, satisfying, and made with care. Definitely one of my go-to treats in the city.
Had the french toast donut and a lemon filled. Both incredible. Never had vegan donuts so perfect. I've had many donuts around the country and these are some of the best I've ever had! The staff was super friendly and even helped me with directions after my phone died. And the prices I found super reasonable.
Amazing vegan donuts with a lot of variety. They typically have special weekend flavors too. Their coffee is great too! The interior offers a comfortable and lowkey vibe. Limited seating, though (a window bar/barstools and few outdoor seats). They are open until sold out, which usually occurs ~4:00 PM, give or take an hour. I definitely recommend visiting Dun-Well! Items pictured: strawberry shortcake cheesecake donut (weekend special flavor) and horchata latte. 100% vegan menu!
I remember going to this place in 2018 on St Marks Pl. Now that I'm back in NY, I'm glad there's still an option open. It's literally right in front of the L subway exit. There are few places to sit, and since we went on a weekday afternoon, it was empty. They have many flavors of donuts, at least 18, and hot and cold drinks. We ate the donuts there and asked for more to bring. The donuts are very light, the dough is very good. The toppings are very tasty, the best donut I've ever had, exactly as I remember from 7 years ago. And the best part is that everything is vegan.
Perfect experience. I got donuts, coffee, and a latte and all were excellent. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the donuts made it worth the long-ish wait. Some of the recent one-star reviews are obviously bogus (and hilarious) and I felt like I had to rate this place. It deserves 5 stars all day
Went there for a snack with the family. The place has a cozy feel to it with nice decor. Their menu is pretty neat and they have a variety of different flavors. I tried the chocolate And the peach and they were good. The sizes of the donuts are good too, I left half in the fridge for the next day and they didn't dry out they were still moist. Very cool experience. I will come back when I have the chance to try their other flavors. My nephew was excited and loved his donut.
My wife went early in the morning to pick up two dozens for our son’s first birthday party and these turned out amazing! Let me add that every guess that came through the door had a an eye on a specific doughnut and made sure to get their hands on them!! Absolutely beautiful tasty and amazing!! We will definitely come back for more! Much love.
These vegan donuts are insanely delicious! My S/O and I go out of our way to drive all the way here from NJ just for the donuts! They’re honestly better than any non-vegan donuts I’ve had in the past! And I love the fact that there are seasonal flavors it’s always a delight to come back and see what different flavors are in season! Most notable ones are the Strawberry cheesecake (pictured) (SO GOOD I HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE IT!) and the pistachio!
Our waiter at three Michelin star restaurant Eleven Madison Park recommended this donut place in Brooklyn so we went there the next day. These donuts are worth traveling for. They are so delicious. My husband, who thinks everything vegan is potentially gross, and very picky when it comes to donuts, loved them and ate a second one. Truly amazing!
Today the doughnuts were great and the service was excellent! Would like to see more filling in the doughnuts that have filling though. Other than that they were great. I usually come here for a doughnut and coffee while I wait for my table at champs diner along the corner, that place is always packed but sooooo worth the wait! ☺
There was a line to the door and only one person there but he moved fairly fast and was pleasant. I bought the triple chocolate and it was delicious. Definitely worth stopping by to try the other many varieties. I don’t drink coffee so I am not able to review that part of their menu….HAPPY DONUTS ALL…
Let me preface that I am not on a vegan diet. I like donuts and like to try new donuts. These were pretty good. They were a little on the too sweet side - IMO. Eat them within 2 days. You can probably warm them up if it begins to become dry. I’d recommend them to people who are on a vegan diet.
So bummed that they didn’t allow me to sit down and enjoy my donut with a cup of coffee. They have turned it into a takeout only place. Maybe it’s just me, I guess I am getting old and it’s difficult to understand why a donut shop would do this. They have the real estate. I used to sit in the store all the time. I just found myself in Brooklyn and wanted a vegan donut.
We chose to drive almost an hour based on what we saw on instagram. When we arrived, we were immediately taken back by the fact that the place was kind of dirty; dusty to be exact. We were also expecting a wide selection of donuts as displayed on their social media and we went early enough in the day that they would have a full line of donuts but they didn't I'm reluctant to give my opinion on the donuts because the options were so few but what we did get was just average. The person taking our order was very courteous and polite but overall, we would not go back.
I truly love the donuts here — they’re incredible! Soft, fresh, and the fact that they’re vegan makes them even better. But I have to say, the owner’s husband completely ruins the vibe. His energy is nasty, racist, and just plain ugly. When he came out, the whole atmosphere shifted — even the owner seemed uncomfortable, and that said a lot. To make things worse, he ignored me and gave another customer their order before mine. It felt intentional and disrespectful. He’s honestly dragging her business down. She seems like such a sweet person, but he’s the reason I wouldn’t rush back. Sir, please stay in the back where you belong until you learn how to treat people with kindness and basic respect. The donuts? AMAZING. The husband? Absolutely not.
Very cute place but the donuts are mid. I was disappointed when I ordered the pumpkin cinnamon roll and it ended up being a regular donut with a huge amount of icing that didn't taste like pumpkin (since it cost more than the other specialty donuts, I expected it to be an actual cinnamon roll, not a typical donut). I also ordered a lemonade, which they said they made in house, but when I took a sip, it tasted like artificial/store bought. The first time I went, the person working seemed to hate their life and not want to be there, which was kind of off putting. It's a very cute place, but overall, overpriced and not all worth it, even if you're vegan and desperate for a donut lol.
I love their blue berry and strawberry cheesecake donut! EDIT: I’m a regular here and I usually get a matcha latte but I just had their horchata latte and I’m so disappointed :( it was just rice milk with ground cinnamon and it taste terrible :( also had the pecan cookie (?) donut and it had these black specks :(
Great donuts but really poor customer service. Probably should just order on delivery to avoid having to talk to these folks. Incredibly rude about my service dog in training. Even for a take out they would not let me enter with the dog. I’ve never heard of this before because it is only a health violation if it is a sit down service. Didn’t even bother to ask if it was a service animal or not. The guy genuinely seemed so thrilled to be able to tell me to get out.
I use to love this donut place ! The donuts are super amazing and I’ve been coming here since 2017 when my best friend who’s vegan introduced me. Unfortunately today I went and it was closed at 5 pm. I completely understood but somebody was looking at me from the door inside so I asked nicely hey what the hours usually? and he ( a white male with a man bun ) and a black woman were laughing at me. So I said to my wife wow that is so rude and disappointing why are they laughing? As i was walking away. the white man opened the door and chased me outside. He started yelling and saying ‘what did you say to me ?’ and getting alarmingly close to me. So he started yelling I don’t see a man here get a man to defend you. Typical white male privilege and violence to two queer brown girls. He was like bring a man I wanna see a man and basically kept following us until I got scared and yelled at this to shut up and get the F away from us. But like I said the donuts are good, not enough to make up for the violence I experienced but to each his own! Here are some cute pics of all the times I ate donuts here💔💔💔💔🥺 RIP to my favorite place🥹 PS I FORGOT I was with my nine year old niece and she was really scared … poor kid just wanted a donut and she encountered a white males glass fragile masculinity !! 🥹🥹🥹
My friend and I have been purchasing donuts from Dunwell for the past few months and sharing with our clients, raving how delicious they are despite the long wait on line. Unfortunately after today I wouldn’t be returning or recommending, I stood on line for 10 min and my friend came to join me. My friend was watching a video without headphones and at the same time a man was on the phone arguing. While interacting with a customer the woman at the counter basically yelled and asked my friend if she had headphones. When we approached the counter my friend expressed her distaste for the way she was spoken to and the women behind the counter was very dismissive saying “I think it was rude what you were doing” Felt very racially motivated because we were the only black patrons and the white man who was much more loud on the phone was allowed to finish his call with no interruptions.
In response to the store's reply: "The store was busy" I was literally the only customer at the store while going in, ordering and going out. So that's not an excuse for the rude customer service. "You seem like you were having a bad day" My day was great until I needed to interact with your establishment. These comments are meant for the store to fix their issues dealing with customers, not for the passive aggressive replies 🙂👍 Original comment: Terrible customer service. They stop the delivery apps at inconvenient times, and when we called to at least reserve our order; "no, we stopped for the day." So went all the way there, and the guy wouldn't even greet me back. Box was terrible, he wouldn't even tape it for me for some reason. The box ended up blowing open in the wind, and dust all over the donuts. If this wasn't a gift for someone, I wouldn't even come all the way to this store. Very obnoxious and unprofessional! Zero stars!
I normally try to be understanding because everyone has bad days, but this has been a consistent issue. There is an employee who appears to be white, wears a chain belt, round glasses, and has a short ponytail (I may be wrong about their gender, so I won’t assume). Every time I come in and greet them politely, they either don’t respond or immediately say “what can I get you” in a very rude, monotone way, with visible irritation on their face as if customers are bothering them. What made it more frustrating is that my daughter has experienced the same treatment when she goes in alone, so it isn’t just a one-time interaction or a misunderstanding. It creates an uncomfortable atmosphere, especially in a small local business where friendliness really matters. I’m leaving this feedback because I hope the owners take it seriously. Basic courtesy toward customers goes a long way, and right now the service from this employee consistently brings down the experience. My daughter quite literally sees the worker during the shift from the door when we pull up and braces herself because he’s so unfriendly. Then our drinks always come out bad whenever that person makes it. Every other employee even when they’re not talkative or as outgoing are still polite. Despite that the donuts and drinks are always great it’s just seriously this one barista.
