Love, love, love this place. Wasn't sure about it at first when we moved to the neighborhood. I don't know why. But I could not be more wrong. They have daily specials, and a Thursday oyster happy hour, great staff and bomb cocktails. Also love that they are cash only or Amex. We bring our family here all the time when they visit, and they always rave about it. Like my brother is hooked on their duck salad and he hates duck. Ideal order: Tom Waits Mexican Vacation x2. Beet salad. Steak or Mussels as a main 👍👍👍👍👍

Never had a bad meal here. Well prepared food with lots of flavor. I am a big fan of their lamb burgers and Oyster Night on Thursdays. Last time I ate here I shared the arugula salad with my friend. I had ratatouille on a bed of roasted cauliflower rice. We also shared desert, a green tea creme brulee. It was delicious. Give this restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed.

This little French Bistro is to die for. A family friend took us here while visiting New York City, and I was amazed by how good it is. Their staff is so kind (and is clearly actually French). Their bathroom is super clean, too. It's seriously the cutest place. Even if you don't typically like French Cuisine (like me), go try it! It was the happiest I was with my food the ENTIRE 10 days that I was there. It is outside the main part of the city, but my goodness, it is worth it. Plus, it's right across from a Subway station!

On a Saturday lunch we went for some oysters, which they don't serve for brunch, but we were hungry and decided to stay, got the skirt steak and mussels, subbed the fries for salads. The salad was really good with perfect coating of the dressing, so delicious! We requested the steak medium rare, it came almost well done, ate it anyways, wasn't bad. Mussels were oh so good, that broth too! Had the ginger creme brulee for desert which was also perfection, coffee was great too.

I've been coming here for years and it remains to be a staple in my neighborhood and my family's favorite. Everything is good here- everything. My favorites though... French onion soup, mussels, and their newly added lobster roll. And honestly, even the pizza is delicious. Who would have thought that a French restaurant would have one of the best pizzas in Brooklyn. Plus their drink prices are pretty reasonable! If you have not been here try it. You will not be disappointed.

Our classic, go to neighborhood dinner spot! The entire menu is great, including cocktails. Always greeted by friendly and warm staff :)

Live in the neighborhood and have eaten here probably 10 times at this point for brunch, lunch and dinner...it's always good and seems to somehow be getting better? Not fine dining but just good food made with care with a cool staff and great cocktails.

Loved this place. Food was delicious. Escargot was to die for. And the deviled eggs are absolutely off the hook no way can you find them better than here. The service is amazing and the people are amazing. CASH ONLY just remember that if you come here. Love this place!!!

Came here for lunch with some friends and everything was delicious. We had the escargot and deviled eggs as starters and they were both very tasty. I had a croque madame and it was the best one I've had. The service was quick and friendly and the prices were good.

Staff is friendly and attentive. Food is great and overall it is an affordable evening for the atmosphere and service. Highlights - escargot dish, staff, and menu selection Notable call outs - dim lighting at night makes it difficult to read menus. The restaurant only accepts cash and American Express. I would eat here again

My favorite spot in the neighborhood. I love a good burger, and they have one at a decent price (bacon included). The fries are top notch, but you can always have the salad instead if you want to avoid the heart attack. They are probably better known for their mussels, but I don't feel qualified to judge. Don't worry about the wait, they'll bring out french bread and butter to tide you over. They have a few taps, and their is usually a decent IPA or wheat beer on tap. They also have some great mixed drinks, but as usual those come with a price tag. The weekend brunch is also great, with the Croque Madame being my favorite, but if you want a really relaxing time come for weekday lunch. Same great food, but much less rush. You wont feel guilty getting lots of refill on your coffee.

A bit loud when crowded. Food was excellent. Particularly liked the mussels in curry leek sauce. Wasn't sure it would work but it did. Seafood pasta also excellent. Excellent fries. Menus online vary somewhat from what they have.

Such a cozy spot with friendly atmosphere and excellent service. The lamb burger was juicy and stuffed with feta. Duck confit salad is also a fav. Prosecco washed it all down..yum. Street parking is always easy to find on a sat afternoon.

I wasn't able to try as only SERVICE DOGS are allowed which is fair. I saw a review that claimed differently therefore a correction here. One thing only cash or Amex. It seems like a great place, nice stuff.

Have been coming here very regularly for years. The food is consistently great, as are the drinks. Staff are very warm and welcoming. The horse theme is well done. Only takes cash or Amex but there is an ATM.

This might be my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn. The food is first rate (don't miss the french fries), service is friendly and efficient, and prices are reasonable. Lovely, cozy atmosphere, good wine and beer list... no downsides really, except the place is small and doesn't take reservations, so there is sometimes a wait (worth it). Also, cash or AmEx only!

Had recently returned from France after having numerous Croque madame/ monsieur's and I was looking for something close by. This hit the spot, right down to the perfect amount of nutmeg in the béchamel. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about food, wine, and cocktail options. I will definitely be back, again, and again.

I try to eat here whenever I'm visiting Brooklyn. The escargot is served with red potatoes and parsley butter. It's as you would expect to find it served in a bistro in France. The chef is always offering great specials. I highly recommend the softshell crab with a great tasting remoulade, served with an amazing potato salad.

Their foods are really amazing and their staffs are very friendly and welcoming. I had French onion soup and Forrestiere pizza(mushrooms, pancetta, and truffle oils). French onion soup was so perfect and I’m sure that I will order it every time when I come here. This pizza was also so delicious and as perfect as really good Italian pizzeria place in NYC.

We loved this restaurant! We came here on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner. They don't take reservations but it was empty at around 5:30 pm. They served authentic French food and the service was great. We had the beef borgouignon (no idea on spelling here) and the steak with black pepper sauce, and ordered a veggie pizza for the baby. Everything was fantastic, so delicious. The bathroom was spacious and clean. They served a few special cocktails and French beer. For dessert, definitely order the creme brulee, it was amazing. The chocolate mousse was disappointing. They offer brunch Saturdays and Sundays until 4 pm. (Please note that the website says they don't open on Sundays for dinner, but we called ahead to check because it was a long weekend and luckily they were opened that night)

Lively and delicious food for me. My girlfriend thinks their hanger steak isn't as tasteful or seasoned at all. I was told 20 minute for my seat and exactly 20 minutes my seat is ready. Food wise is good portion for reasonable price. It's definitely a good family run small business. I love the drink they served. They are quality and no watered down to nothing. I got drunk on one drink. Waiting service is 100% top notch. We were asked if we need anything over 5 times while we were dining by multiple people as well as the owner lady. I think they place is a bit small however very cozy and tasteful. You can have a seat outside if you asked for a quieter dinner.

Lamb burger was spot on, and they use real roasted tomatoes in their burgers, not the 'hamburger tomato' 🍅. Quality is great, and provide a great elevation on the traditional burger. Service hits the spot, and has a decent selection of local beers. Space is warm and cozy. It was a random pick for me but I'd say this place has got to be the spot if you are in the area.

Really nice atmosphere and great selection of options. Friendly service and great drink options of cocktails, wines, and beers. I got the pizza that had potatoe bacon which was really good. And my date had the duck confit which she really enjoyed. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good french cuisine.

I live in the neighborhood and am mad I waited so long to come here! My husband and I stopped by for drinks after doing some Manhattan errands. After getting two cocktails each (which not quite to my taste but impeccably made, I'll keep trying!), french fries (perfectly made), and escargot, we were so full we didn't even need to eat dinner! It was awesome. Will definitely come back to try more of the menu, including the steak tartare which I did not see on the menu but another diner got it while I was there...

Its a neighborhood restaurant that I have been going to since it opened. Great yummy french/American cusine . Staff are pleasant and food arrives swiftly. But 1 negative is that you have to pay with cash or amex. Which is difficult because I only have a Visa card and who carries money anymore 🤣. They do have an atm in front but it charges a fee so be aware of that.

What a cozy French vibe! We had great $1.50 oysters for the Thursday special and for a cold winter night what is more delicious than cassoulet and beef bourguignon. Excellent service, everyone was attentive from the server to the bartender to the owner. True neighborhood spot with French bistro decor that doesn’t feel cheesy at all, could be in a less touristy part of Paris. A new fave!

Been here a couple of times for dinner. It's been a hit every time. The service is attentive and prompt. Cocktails are well balanced and the selection rotates. Skirt steak is well cooked to order, but the highlight of that dish is definitely the potatoes gratin. There is also a great selection of deserts and coffees to finish out your meal.

I was planning a repast and needed a location close to Green-wood Cemetery, and Le Paddock extended their warmest welcome to us. It was on such short notice but they worked with us to make our celebration of life so beautiful. The food was incredible, and they accommodated to our guests’ many dietary restrictions. The staff were so helpful and patient. And Sylvia and Gregory (the owner and manager) took great care of us. I would have another event there in a heartbeat. Thank you so much!

This was not my first time at Le Paddock, and definitely not the last one. The place has a strong neighborhood vibe, and is the busiest restaurant on the stretch of Prospect Ave. in Windsor Terrace. When you approach it - the first thing you will see is a bunch of happy, smiling clients involved in conversations, sitting outside and gobbling up food that just keeps coming. It is not a restaurant: it's a club! It feels like everyone there knows each other. The staff is always pleasant and respectful. One of the owners is always around, for an extra smooth experience. It's good to know that one does not have to shlep all the way to Manhattan for a top notch French restaurant experience: Santé! P.S. Fire roasted shrimp and escargot are will increase your appetite like nothing else. We need more restaurants like Le Paddock in the area.

What a gem in the middle of a residential area. The owner is as down to earth as they come, stopping often to check on us. Greeting at the door and ensuring quality. The dishes were cooked perfectly and portions were filling. Enjoy! PS.. the gherkins are a pleasant surprise!

I just came here for the first time today for brunch. Everything was delicious from the Bloody Mary to the Matcha Creme Brulee. The prices are also very reasonable. Since we are living in COVID times and right now only outdoor seating is permitted it is comforting that the outside enclosure has heaters. Plus, my waiter actually got me an additional heater (without me even asking) to make sure I was extra comfortable. Now everyone that is customer service at its finest. This is my first visit and most certainly not my last. But be forewarned that this place only accepts cash and Amex.

Brunch here is one of the best deals in Brooklyn! You seriously can't beat the amount and quality of the food for the price. The atmosphere is delightful and the food is SO GOOD! We had the French toast and the omelet with gruyere and ham, and both were perfect. The location is also wonderful in that it is so close to the subway stop. I'm already planning to return as soon as possible!

Came for dinner, the restaurant was packed – a good sign. I had the Chili-rubbed Pork Loin, roasted cauliflower, sautéed spinach, it didn’t have a lot of flavor, but I would definitely give the restaurant another chance. Next time I would probably try a Brick Oven Pizza. Great neighborhood restaurant with a rustic atmosphere. Wait staff are knowledgeable and courteous.

N
Nicole W

I’ve come here quite a bit over the years and they usually do not disappoint but the last couple of times, it’s taken forever for the food to come (at least 30-45 mins from when I first placed the order). They were not particularly busy nights either. The waitstaff have all been nice but I would not recommend coming here if you want to get in an out within an hour. I’ve talked about this with a lot of people and we wish they’d make a kid menu (like the restaurant across the street) given the amount of kids in the neighborhood that dine here.

Great food. Great service. Great vibe. However, the place only accepts cash or American Express. When we got the check there was a 4% service fee. I'm leaving this review because I truly loved the place and want to come back, but want to leave candid feedback as a first time visitor: We weren't sure if the 4% is part of the tip or if we're covering the credit card transaction fee for the business owner. Either way, that makes it awkward because if we leave a 20% tip then we're leaving 24%, but it we leave 16% we're not sure if we're being cheap to the waiters - and there is no way to tell what a "service fee" is. If this was a cash-only restaurant I wouldn't complain, but you guys just limit it to amax. A lot of people use a variety of travel/restaurant cards (which I couldn't use yesterday), so the combination of that and the 4% made me lose out on ~$30.

I stopped here unexpectedly after a race on Monday night in Prospect Park. I think they seemed maybe in need of one or two more servers ? The initial waiter missed one of the items in my order, took a good while to even get to me (not sure if this was bc there were a few more people than they are used to? ) and he could have been more well versed on the menu. I ordered a few things, and when I asked him how a particular salad was , he jokingly said it was bad . We had a laugh , and I said no, seriously how is it ? He said it was good . lol ummm yeah - when asked this question I typically get more of a robust answer ( it’s prepared this way or that , it’s has a good balance of flavor because of x y or z … you know ?? It’s not like I’m just getting lettuce on a plate ... have you actually tried it ? That matters, you know. Even if it’s something you don’t gravitate towards, it’s helpful that you, as the waiter, seem knowledgeable on it . I also realized he didn’t ask how I wanted the burger I ordered cooked (so I had to go inside and confirm with a waitress there). Anyway, long story short - I had an emergency so I desperately had to leave, but had already ordered my food at that point . I became an utter disaster asking when my food was going to be ready every few minutes as my tension continued to build. ( fyi, I was warned the french onion soup took a good 30 mins ) . The waitress who I was dealing with at this point was tremendously gracious given I was pretty much harassing her every few minutes. I was expecting my food to reflect the nonsense I just went through … but the food was pretty good. Great, actually (minus the forgotten burger - which I wasn’t charged for, of course ) . So yeah.. maybe a few more hands on deck, otherwise absolutely delicious food. I'd consider coming back here because the food alone can really stand on its own. Kudos to the chef/cooks!!

Good vibe! Tried the french cheese platter which was slightly disappointing in quantity for the price, but hey, they were ripe cheeses. We've eaten there quite a few times and the meats are good and overall menu worth the wait. Enjoy!

Great neighborhoody bistro! We ate inside where it has sort of a French pub vibe, but outside is sprawling with lots of tables. The Paddock salad is delicious, with duck confit and duck prosciutto complimenting the tangy lemon vinaigrette perfectly. The burger was excellent as well. 1 star off because the food took quite a while to come out, but that’s all!

Super sweet spot in a quaint area. Nice open front sidewalk patio on a corner in Windsor Terrace. Very condensed menu but offers all the classic French go-to’s including Lamb Burger, French Onion Soup, Merguez, and more. They get busy so be aware that service will seem slower during rush hours.

C

Burger was good. My 8 yr old niece enjoyed the pork chop after taking everything off it. They didn't have a kids menu so it was hard to find something for her. My husband got the French onion soup and it was ok. Everything seemed a little bland.

Great food. Service was a slight miss. Was not just us, but our neighbors at the adjacent table thought so too. Had to deduct a star. Still worth a visit because they're personable and I believe in granting grace in a pandemic. Ate a pizza, deviled eggs, and they serve complimentary fresh bread (can you tell carbs are my favorite food group?!). My friend enjoyed his pork chop and polenta. The creme brulee was wonderful as were the cocktails. I was too busy chillaxin' so only one pic of a drink. NOTE: They're AMEX or cash only with ATM onsite.

**Le Paddock accepts only cash or a physical Amex card (they have an ATM machine at the entrance). They do not accept Apple Pay.** We learned this the hard way. I had reviewed the restaurant’s website and Google listing and read a number of reviews before going, but didn’t come across these limitations (namely that they do NOT accept Apple Pay) so thought we should share the info in a review. We came to Le Paddock for the first time this evening with Visa, Mastercard, and Amex via Apple Pay. We did not have an ATM or debit card on us. After trying to access my Amex number via the app and customer service over the phone (for security reasons, Amex does not make the physical card number available through any means besides the printed card), I was able to pay via Venmo to the restaurant manager’s personal account. I had wanted to pay via Zelle to spare the manager/restaurant the Venmo fees, but the manager had not provided enough info to me to do so, and I didn’t want to prolong the 20 minutes we had already spent trying to pay our bill through the restaurant’s limited accepted methods. We otherwise enjoyed our meal. Service was great. The flank steak portion was small for the price, and the green beans overcooked, but we appreciated that the dishes were not over salted, well composed, and tasty.

Great service, Wonderful atmosphere, the food and drink was all slightly off for me. Deviled eggs were very mustard forward, mocktail negroni was a little off balance, chicken kale Caesar was rustic, I would have preferred more emulsified. Perfectly reasonable neighborhood joint. Probably erred in not asking the server what the best things on the menu were and going with that.

Lamb burger and veggie pizza were good. Took a little while to turn out food, but overall a good spot!

Brunch with family: a great, cozy spot in Brooklyn. Good food and drinks. Kid-friendly if your kid is restaurant-savvy!

Very nice indoors and out. The street is quiet, so it’s good for sitting outside! I wasn’t wowed by the food (except the shrimp on the salad was unusually delicious); the cantaloupe gazpacho should’ve been smoother and the chicken was a bit dry (although the sauce/jus was yummy and helped). But the vibe is here is cozy and international (heard different languages spoken at the tables), which I like.

I enjoyed my brunch. The mimosa was strong and tasted good. I didn’t really care for the chorizo omelette special, it just kind of tasted bland. I was hoping for more chorizo to give it flavor because the eggs were not well seasoned, if seasoned. Now, I still wanna go back because the potatoes, greens, and escargot were good so I think the regular menu orders are good and I just came for a special at the wrong time. Other than that, had a great time and recommend.

Solid neighborhood eats. The ambiance and vibe is a 10. Waitstaff are really attentive and awesome. Food has been great. French onion soup is killer. The burger is excellent. I recently had the steak and loved it. Very kid / family friendly. Good drink menu. Prices are pretty standard for Brooklyn.

This place has a ton of potential, however, the food is below average and half of my party of four became sick the following day. I came here for my birthday with my wife and two of my friends. My wife wanted escargot and onion soup and I ended up finding this place that offered both. When we arrived, the place was packed which filled me with optimism about the meal to come. We waited about 15 minutes before we were seated. We ordered escargot, onion soup, deviled eggs, the duck salad, the beef burger, soup of the day, and potato au gratin. The escargot was very disappointing. The escargot and potatoes came out haphazardly dumped out on a plate. (I expect more from a French restaurant when it comes to presentation). The taste was mediocre. The deviled eggs were nothing special, basically tasted like your standard deviled eggs you get at a family picnic and doesn’t warrant the price. I will not speak of the burger because my friend likes his burgers well-done for some stupid reason. The potato au gratin was ok but nothing special. My duck salad was not good. The very few pieces of smoked duck were delicious, however the rest of the duck tasted like it was boiled and mushy. However, The onion soup was outstanding. It had a rich, full-flavored broth and a good amount of cheese. Overall, the owner should seriously consider replacing the chef with someone who respects and has an intimate knowledge of French cuisine.

This place is nice, but the service is not good at all. We ordered a hamburger and we ask if they could add an egg on it. The waitress replied to me: " it's not possible because now they are busy in the kitchen" (verbatim). I don't think this is a good answer to give to a client. The rest of the service was not great either. In addition, food was OK but not phenomenal. Overall, I think 3 stars is the perfect rating for that restaurant. I don't plan to go back there again.

A Souless Cheeseburger with fries that was almost 30 bucks (with tip) with pick up. The atmosphere felt nice though and the staff seemed friendly enough. So Pricey and Mid although not opposed to trying again one day.

Food was good. Menu prices were good. Atmosphere was a neighborhood joint that drew several families with small kids. Small dining space that filled quickly but turned over quickly too. Small space was a bit too loud for me when tables were full. Service was meh. Staff was friendly enough but Long waits for first order, drink refill and asking for extra ketchup came close to giving me an argument. Importantly, the place charged a credit card surcharge that was not mentioned on the menu at time of ordering. I'm sure of this because they were VERY clear on multiple signs that they only took cash or American Express. Only found out about the surcharge when the final bill arrived, and they really should tell you about that charge before you order. It might even be the law in NY/ NYC but I'm not sure. I might go back but the surcharge thing really pisses me off, especially when the tip gets included in the service charge percentage calculation.

Ordered a 24 dollar medium rare lamb burger. Got a rare one. With some very sorry looking toppings. Tastes good enough. Just felt very rushed.

Food was good. Although the servers were nice, food took a long time to arrive. Almost 20 minutes for a burger. They offered no water to my dogs, and they only that Cash or Amex. They got an ATM inside but with all the technology and cards we have now why go to a place where I have to pay an extra 5 just to pay the bill.

Service was friendly, quick, and welcoming; ambiance was warm but a little darker for some tables than others. We came here to try their restaurant week menu and ordered the escargot, salmon risotto, cassoulet, crème brûlée and chocolate cup de creme. We also ordered the deviled eggs from their regular menu. Escargot: 2/5, like other diners have noted, the flavor is on the blander side, which could be improved to your own liking with some salt. My wife's plate came with lots of sauce whereas mine barely had any, so there's also inconsistency in terms of its preparation which is unfortunate. Deviled eggs: 1/5, overly mustardy which overpowered the entire dish, where there's no other flavor present; no sweetness, no savoriness, just the burn from the mustard. Salmon Risotto: 2/5, the salmon at first arrived pretty raw in the inside, which is evident in the picture. They fixed it for us kindly, which we appreciated it. However, the risotto were also quite tough and not soft like it normally would be. Flavor was also on the blander side and we had to adjust it to our liking by just constantly adding salt. Cassoulet: 3.75/5, not your typical cassoulet which is often served with breadcrumbs, and came with some beans, 3-4 pieces of sausage, and a duck leg with some pancetta bits. The duck leg was perfectly cooked, juicy, and tender. The rest of the dish felt small, like half the bowl it came in was empty when they could've added more beans just to make it more hearty. Definitely had better but it's not bad. The creme brûlée and chocolate cup were both 5/5 for us, for they were both perfectly crafted, big in portion, aesthetically pleasing, and just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess! I would definitely get them both and I promise you won't regret it; whoever made the desserts did everything right! Overall it was a decent experience for us; though we have high hopes Le Paddock can definitely improve and reach the 5 stars I know they have the potential of achieving! So give them a shot and definitely get the desserts! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

I wanted to like this place but unfortunately my meal was not very good & our waiter disappeared on us, mid-meal. Beef bourguignon should be flavorful and hearty, theirs was bland & thin. The calamari & salad were quite pleasant, but if you’re going to be a French restaurant, you have to get the staples right.

The owner booted us from our table after we had been seated, never really apologized, which forced us to eat at the bar, where he then forced us to move again. Bartender was nice, food was good not great. But service was lacking. Also watched a food runner drop half our appetizer on the floor, and just bring it out as is, nothing said. Unfortunate, as I really wanted to love the place..

I got the lamb burger last night, When the food arrived the bread was extremely hard and the fries were soggy. As per my lamb burger it tasted alright, I asked for it to be medium rare it surely didn’t come out medium rare. The food was also not the warmest when it came out. My partner got the grass fed burger and the same out come for him.

1 star simply because it’s amex and cash only. No contactless or ApplePay. Pls consider adding more payments options. The food was great, and the staff was friendly, thanks.

Not a good experience at all. The drinks were okay but the food took a very long time to come out and when they did, 2 of our steaks were just sent back because after waiting for so long for an over cooked steak what is the point. A bunch of orders were gotten wrong and some things completely forgotten. Not a great place in my opinion

I can’t believe how bad the food was, I was actually nauseous. Whoever is coming up with that menu must be a school lunch lady. Don’t serve that beet salad to people. You don’t know what your doing, and the pizza was just bad. Soggy and oh lord, get a new chef. Use better ingredients. Those were not “forrest mushrooms” in the pizza.

Avoid this place. The service was incredibly slow—it took about 40 minutes to get our dishes, and after we finished eating, we waited another 15 minutes for the check. When we finally received the check and got our credit card ready, they informed us after another 5 minutes of waiting that they only accept Amex or cash. If you don't have either, there's an ATM at the entrance, which charged us a $2.75 fee. We will never return.
