Recensioni di Otway Bakery Brooklyn
Made two stops here during our trip! Place is small so takeaway is recommended. We tried the sausage roll, green tomato danish, chocolate babka that were stunning! Still thunking about the danish The kimchi cheese bun was good but it is quite specific in taste. Coffee is very good as well
Yet another amazing bakery in Downtown Brooklyn, more specifically in Prospect Heights. The place is small but has pretty hefty variety of savory and sweet backing goods, some of which are pretty unique. I really liked from the savory offering kimchi bun and from the sweets is peach Danish. The croissants are one of the most delicious that I was ever had. Also they have seriously good coffee, I mean like really really good with a bold flavor without being overturned. The place is quite popular so expect some line standing especially in the morning, especially on a weekend. I definitely will be back for more.
I see a line here every weeekend and cannot be bothered to stop. Walked by on a Friday early afternoon no wait, no crowd. The line is justified. I get it. I got the morning and sticky bun and they were both so fresh, still moist none of that “starting to get stale”. I’ll be back!
Great neighborhood cafe. Croissants I ate fresh baked. And the baguette is very nice. I would come back for that. This spot is small with just a few high chair. They aren’t that busy after 2pm and it’s a good spot to meet friend. Friendly service.
Got there shortly after opening on a Wednesday, and especially enjoyed there sesame kouign amman and tomato cheese danish. Everything was tasty and had a nice texture, however! Looking forward to going back for the crullers on the weekend!
Otway Bakery is hands-down one of Brooklyn’s best hidden gems. Every pastry I’ve tried has been exceptionally fresh and flavorful—it’s clear they care deeply about quality. The crullers alone are worth the trip (seriously, if you haven’t had one yet, you’re missing out big time) Yes, there’s often a line, but it’s well deserved and moves quickly thanks to the warm, friendly staff who always make the wait feel worth it. Otway strikes the perfect balance of neighborhood charm and top-tier baking. Can’t recommend it enough
Been coming here since covid and still coming. The breakfast delights are delicious. Not too sweet and flavorful. Today I had the cardamon bun and matcha, a total recommendation. Very delicious and pure perfection.
The line goes very fast so don't be alarmed when you see it. Just know that the most delicious surprises await you. I tried the kimchi savoury bin amd the cardamon bun. It was hard to get myself to stop eating both in one sitting.
Definitely one of my favourite bakeries in America so far. If you see a line outside, don’t sweat it. it moves fast and it’s totally worth it. My boyfriend and I love love love the kimchi savoury bun the most. Didn’t see these too often on days I have visited, but if you bump into a cruller donut there, GET IT! To die for! Tiny tiny place with very little seating, in case you are looking to hang.
After a good nice walk in the neighborhood looking at the brownstones found this cute little bakery and I had to try it. Got the almond croissants which were pretty good! The perfect balance of sweet and crispness to it. I found it interesting that it had a very little amount almond paste, though it didn’t matter to the joyness in my mouth. The mini chocolate babka were equally good.
Amazing pastries and breads! Really cute cards as well (thank you, happy birthday, etc.)
Seriously the best cruller I ever tasted!!! I paired it with a delicious ice chai tea latte. I recommend going early because they sold out of their popular items like the ham and cheese croissant by the time I got there. I got there around 11am. They also sale bread that I for sure would like to try in the future. It’s such a cute bakery! I will for sure be back bright and early in the am.
Cute little bakery with amazing pastries and delicious coffee! Come early (before 10 AM if there’s a specific pastry you want- they run out). Their seeded kouign-amann is AMAZING- so nutty, light and flaky!
Priced rather fairly for the quality of baked goods you recieve. Donuts are fried fresh at their main restaurant so expect them to be available around 8am in limited quantity. Can't go wrong with their selections, especially their cruellers. Icing had a hint of citrus, but the interior is otherworldly. Gelatinous strands of egg pudding encapsulated in crisp browned shell and glass shattering icing, it is something you'd definitely want to wake up early for.
The Verdict: It is a blessing to have a fantastic bakery in the neighborhood that churns out a good variety of baked goods that are (in my limited residency) best in NYC. The Highlights: The plain croissant is impeccable. It has a nice, thin, crunchy shell with moist, chewy layers inside. The amount of butter is just perfect! Dare I say better than croissant au beurre I had in Paris!😬 Also: having pastéis de nata is an automatic win (just needs packets of cinnamon to take away)!🇵🇹 The Surprises: I visited on one of the first days it's been open (March 10), and they run out of pastries pretty quickly. By 11 am, most if not all were gone.

good pastries and cute interior! got the coffee cake and a limited edition danish (which was so good). wanted to try the cardamom bun but it sold out, seems like you have to come pretty early to grab them

Great place for a quick coffee stop. Pastries were good although I’ve had better cheddar chive biscuit. The savory twist was EVERYTHING!
Fantastic bakery in the Clinton Hill area!! The olive sesame house bread was AMAZING and the focaccia is also delicious. Really love the drip coffee and pastries too. They even have a cute greeting card section! Truly a neighborhood gem :)
Great place. The staff are super friendly and the pastries amazing. I was outside in the bitter cold to get cardamon buns and there was a line. Not a long one but only diehard folks would brave this cold. So well worth it as I sit with my warm bun and coffee Sunday morning. I am a fan of this place.
Amazing place, the pastries are exquisite and probably the best in the area which justifies a lot the massive line on weekend morning. My only critique is their iced matcha drink its too milky which is a shame cause the matcha taste is good its just too tame!
Awesome breads and pastries. Notable breads: olive sesame, and seeded bread and in general sandwich breads. Breads tend to be on the crusty and dark side. Their morning bun and cardamom buns are also awesome but come early! The flaky pastries tend to be darkly baked.

I’m a regular at this bakery and have always enjoyed their pastries, but lately the quality seems to have declined. Most recently, the Kouign-amann was disappointingly dense and slightly burnt. I hope they take a closer look at quality control before serving items—I’d love to see them return to the high standards they used to maintain.
