Truly love this place. Delicious coffee that's never bitter, kind staff, and the aromas of fresh baked goods at all times. Great music always!
Went here for a quick lunch meeting. The staff were great and the egg sandwich was surprisingly good! I can see how it might be loud and busy at certain times of the day, but especially early to mid-afternoon it is very cozy.
Amazing coffee and omlette and the people that work here are so kind. They also have gluten free toast :)
Very comfortable cafe. Something about the vibe is warm and welcoming. Service was fast and the iced tea was pretty good. The photography on the wall is pretty cool too. The world seems to have a shortage of third-spaces similar to this one and we would all be a little bit better with more of these cute, local spots. Overall, I really enjoy this spot and highly recommend it. 10/10
This coffee shop is fantastic! The drinks are delicious, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. It's the perfect spot to relax, get some work done, or catch up with friends. Highly recommend!
I wandered in out of curiosity and now I’m obsessed. It’s a super cute judgment-free zone with the warmest energy. There’s lots of seating set up in a way that gives “introvert who wants company nearby but also don’t touch my stuff.” The owner, Kendra, is like a little pixie angel who also bakes. The vegan grassroots bars are gooey sweetness and the everything bagel is, yeah, everything. Love. Great vibe. Great lattes. Great place to just unwind and exist for a while.
Food was delicious and very friendly service. A nice atmosphere to hangout in and get some work done as well. They did slightly mess my order up and forgot a few items but they quickly got them over to me. I would recommend checking your order if you added extras on it just to make sure you received everything you ordered.
I'm slowly becoming a breakfast sandwich and chai latte aficionado. We found this lovely place on an early Sunday morning. It wasn't too busy or too crowded. There were a few folks sitting inside and outside the cafe. We opted to take our order to go since it was raining. The egg and cheese sandwich on a brioche bun is tasty. My sandwich was hot, cheesy, and coupled with the best fluffy eggs. The chai latte had great flavor too. This quaint space was designed for mingling, so I suggest hanging out for a bit. They've got a deep menu, so we'll be back to visit.
Nice little place! Love the decor. Floating chairs looks very original. Other then that: - coffee indeed very worth the price - food (breakfast), good but I would question the price for the amount. Overall very good experience, so deserves recommendation. I would stop by for a coffee and a treat rather then breakfast.
Warm and cozy spot with great tasting coffee! They also serve food- not gluten free- but very popular. The oatmeal and avocado toast with egg on top was popular amongst everyone. Free wifi and friendly staff make this a go-to spot for freelancers. It was a mix of workers and people meeting up for food so turnover was pretty fast.
I have to say, don’t judge a cafe by its reflective plastic boards and average decoration. The coffee here was actually some of the best I found in the area. Coffee - 7.8: the blend suits the milk very well. It’s smooth, has flavour and doesn’t linger on your palate. Not a lot of strength but a good cup.
Atmosphere is nice. The banana bread was very dry and cold. The coffee was just fine.
Root Hill Café is what happens when you take a genuinely charming space, cute art all over the walls, the kind of light that makes your coffee look like it should be in a Kinfolk spread, and then hand the keys to a staff who treat organization like it’s an optional elective they never signed up for. The menu has lots of different coffee and breakfast options. Unfortunately, the coffee tastes like someone steeped brown paper in lukewarm tap water and called it a roast. Still, the staff smiles while serving it, so you almost forgive them… until the shouting starts. Ordering is less of a transaction and more of a social experiment. They take your order, forget it, and then stand in the middle of the café asking, “What am I forgetting?” as if the customers are contestants on a game show where the grand prize is just getting the food you paid for. I asked for avocado toast (because Brooklyn), but alas, they were out of avocados. Not to worry, the cashier brightly suggested that if I could hang out for a bit, she’d run to the grocery store and buy some. Admirable hustle, but I wasn’t trying to bankroll a bodega run, so I pivoted to the chia seed pudding instead. Let’s just say it’s an acquired taste—one I didn’t acquire. Eventually, they remembered the other part of my order: a frittata. By this point the barista and the chef were in the back yelling at each other like siblings forced to share a bedroom. Something about missing ingredients. Something about not writing things down. By the time the frittata arrived, it was slammed onto the counter so hard that the silverware went airborne like shrapnel. Very classy. And here’s the kicker, the frittata was actually good. Genuinely good. Which makes the entire circus act even more maddening, because the kitchen clearly has talent hiding somewhere between the chaos and the missing avocados. Most of the online reviews are glowing, and I can see why. The space is inviting, the menu reads well, and the staff isn’t mean. But dig a little deeper and you’ll notice a pattern, buried among the praise are complaints about the exact same thing, disorganization so profound it could be studied as a case at Harvard Business School. Root Hill Café, come for the art, stay for the frittata, but don’t get too attached to your order actually making it out of the kitchen in one piece.
