September is a neighborhood coffee shop known for its welcoming vibe and delicious coffee. The Nutella banana bread is a standout. Service can be inconsistent, and it gets very busy, sometimes with laptop restrictions on weekends.

Our first respite in our travels visiting a friend. We were struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere! Great music, delicious coffee, and very friendly/personable service. I hope we find our way back here again.
Favorite coffee shop in my neighborhood. Lovely staff, awesome atmosphere with lots of light, and I adore sitting outside when it's warm out! The food is also INCREDIBLE. <3
Lavendar Coffee is ok not to strong..but my wive got a plain latte and that was strong.i ha e not tried any food though which is why I haven't given any stars. The atmosphere is wonderful...it has a very mixed environment of all cultures and backgrounds ex black, brown, purple lol etc which makes everyone feel welcome.
I don’t normally leave reviews but after so many great experiences here I gotta shout it out 🗣️This is a gem of a cafe with a real Bed Stuy vibe. They have the best coffee in the neighborhood!!
Quickly ran in here for two breakfast sandwiches and a coffee on our way to the airport. It wasn't as quick as expected because everything is made freshly by a one-woman army in the open kitchen! It worked out fine for us and we made it to the airport on time. The egg and cheese sandwich was so flavorful and tasty! The tuna melt was good too. The latte was delicious and the staff were all so kind when we asked about local transportation advice :) It is also so cute inside, I wish we had time to sit and eat. 10/10!
Coffee is delicious. The chicken chipotle egg sandwich is absolutely delicious and to die for. They need to bring this back. Best thing ever. Whenever I'm nearby I definitely stop by for coffee and and almond croissant. The vibe is chill. Usually the music playlist is dope too. I like going here. Again I can't emphasize enough how much I need to bring that chicken chipotle egg sandwich back. Because it's amazing.
I was looking for a spot with indoor seating, AC, and Wi-Fi, and this place fit the bill. The bagel was tasty, though a little heavy on the cream cheese (easy enough to scrape some off), and the coffee was strong and flavorful. The service was fine but felt impersonal—more like being treated as a number than a guest. A simple warm hello or smile can go a long way. What stood out most was the cleanliness, or lack of it. Many tables were dirty, and the floor could’ve used a sweep, while staff were chatting about weekend plans instead of tidying up. It gave the impression that customer experience wasn’t the priority. Overall, the food and coffee were good, but the atmosphere and service could use some improvement.
they have good matcha and good coffee. quality is nice and a good place to sit and vibe alone or with someone. i will say the staff isn’t super nice which is slightly off putting. not looking for over the top friendliness but just don’t enjoy ordering from someone who doesn’t seem they want to be talked to..
Beautiful cafe in Ocean Hill, offering delicious food and drinks. Their pastries are also amazing. I ordered a chipotle chicken sandwich, an egg sandwich, an iced oat latte, iced coffee, and a slice of Nutella banana bread. It costs me a little over $40 with tip included. In addition to tasty food and drinks, September has a cute aesthetic and ample indoor and outdoor seating. But for staff mistakenly giving another guest my order, which meant I had to wait approximately 40 minutes to receive my order (instead of the normal 10 minutes), I’d have given September a rating 5 stars. Nonetheless, the cafe is amazing and you should definitely visit if you’re in the area because they’re great.
It’s an average and busy neighborhood cafe. We came here for an early morning coffee, we had a cold brew and regular filtered coffee but the coffee -my filtered coffee- was sour and to be honest I didn’t like it! The place has a unique painted frames and they make fresh croissant. Nice music and good service.
I visited on a weekend day and started using my laptop. Shortly after, a staff member informed me that laptops aren’t allowed on weekends, so I put it away. However, more people arrived soon after and sat down. At least 4-5 other people used their laptops for hours, but the staff didn’t say anything to them. It’s probably they were just busy, but I just felt I was treated unfairly and left feeling a bit disappointed.
I never write reviews but have to say something, not to just complain but to hopefully add some constructive criticism because I do really enjoy coming to this local corner coffee shop but there's some staffing and vibe issues that just need some refinement! I feel so validated seeing other reviews here mentioning the tall vibe-suck guy, because I thought I was crazy but ya he really brought everything down in such a subconscious way that honestly would ruin my whole day lmao - but haven't seen him around so maybe that problem is fixed, and wish him the best! But still I find just little things could be improved to better efficiency and vibe. 1. Instead of eating your granola yogurt while talking to the chef in the corner with your back turned to all the customers, maybe check to make sure there's an ample amount of drip coffee so customers don't have to wait twice! for more to be made. never hurts to say instead of "its going to be 2 - 3 minutes" maybe try "Sorry i'm making a fresh pot right now it will be about 2 - 3 minute wait, would you like an americano instead?" this sounds nit-picky but language in customer service is so important. 2. if someone is standing at the counter staring at you, not wanting to interrupt but giving signs they need something, don't be afraid to say "can I help you" "Do you need something" etc. it also helps to be aware that this person has already ordered but is still standing at the counter clearly waiting for help, so when you come back from your granola break try helping them first before engaging with a new customer. 3. Personal request - keep it easy on the ice in the cold brew it doesn't need to overflow over the top before you pour. most of the time I can finish it in one sip, feels like a rip off sometimes. The cold brew is really good though. 4. The music is very inconsistent think it would be wise to maybe curate a specific playlist especially keeping in mind times of day, more chill in the early morning when people aren't even awake etc. and perhaps a little more bespoke (which sometimes it is) and no top 40 dribble. 5. I do feel like an old person saying this, and it doesn't have to be smiling specifically, but just in general a positive happy demeanor goes a long way. it also helps to prompt every interaction with "good morning what can i get started for you" sometimes i get to the front and I'm just being stared at until I say "um...can I have...." its important in a customer service role to guide the customer through the process. It gives you control, enhances clarity on the order, allows the customer to not have to think and gives the impression that you want to be helpful and get them what they need accurately and in a timely manning. 6. I've been going here for two years now, sometimes every morning for weeks on end and I still don't think anyone has ever recognized that they've seen me before, I get I'm not the most outgoing and don't need to be a regular friendly type, but an important part of client retention in hospitality is to at least acknowledge loyalty, a simple "nice to see you again", "How have you been", "Another punch card completed, thanks so much for your support" etc. goes a long way. 7. I get the dread of getting slammed all at once, I have a background in hospitality and food service and it can be intense, but there must be ways to improve efficiency to reduce the wait time and the line, perhaps more communication between cashier and barista, or management analyzing the busy times and having those times adequately staffed? I'm not sure but sometimes the long lines feel more like an inability or desire to sling drinks then an actual slam of people. Overall really enjoy this place and some of the people that work there, I'm only mentioning these things because I want September to succeed and I hope that this is helpful in someway, I think the overall goal would be consistence in service and atmosphere.
Lazy male barista. This could actually be a nice Place but the young lazy barista tears everything down. While the Woman who is preparing the food is working very hard, he just stands around, chatting and doing nothing. He is extremely unfriendly and looks grumpy all the time. Although the food was alright I would not come back because I did not feel welcome at all. Feel sorry for his two colleagues though.
not a fan, tried the rose latte and it taste artificial and was completely over powering. vibes inside were nice though, everyone was friendly. 2/10
I recently moved to this neighborhood and was eager to try this cafe. However, the customer service was appalling. They barely acknowledged my presence, failing to even greet me. To make matters worse, they refused to call my order out, leaving it unattended and cold.
This is my favourite coffee shop in the area, I live just around the corner and have been coming to get coffee here for the best part of the last year. The staff have changed over time and I have to be honest, the service is very hit and miss. There are only two women who work there that provide the correct level of hospitality. There is a gentleman that serves in there who is completely devoid of all emotion and will always lead with “what do you want” If the manager reads this can you please tell the young guy who works there that he needs to learn how to smile and have a positive outlook when working because he makes me not want to buy coffee when ever I see he is working. He doesn’t look happy to be there and I feel bad for the other people who work there that want to do a good job because he brings the place down massively. Either he needs hospitality training or he needs to find a job that makes him happy. REVIEW EDIT: reduced to one star due to service as there is one woman who works there that has the correct level of customer service. Do not come here if she isn’t serving, especially if the tall angry man is behind the counter doodling instead of engaging with his customers in a polite and welcoming way. Who ever hires the people who work there needs to either do a better job of interviewing or someone else needs to do the hiring. We are officially no longer coming here to buy anything. I advise any one else thinking of coming here to avoid it until they change their staff members or improve their service. Shocking and really disappointing.
