The food is great. I had a 4 pc. Chicken strip, with fries, and a biscuit, with a cup of gravy. The environment was awesome I sat there with my son and ate. A must try place👍🏼

I have been to a lot of chicken expresses. I love chicken express. But this one takes the cake. By far, best chicken express ever! (Sweet tea drinkers beware, you will need a half and half)

Oh I love this place! Their sweet tea is to die for! I’m from New Mexico and I work a railroad photographer and this place is a good hole in the wall next to the tracks! Try the sweet tea! This is my second time back, and of course I will be back.

The chicken and fish are served hot, fresh, and tasty. Expect to wait several minutes if you order the fish (fried catfish), but you're warned when you order it of the extra time. Their biscuits are flaky, slightly salty, and my favorite. The restaurant is consistently clean, and the service has been great as well.

Inexpensive dining in clean atmosphere. What caught me off guard is to be charged 28 cents for water cup. I am unable to drink soda due to health reasons, have to drink water.

Chicken Express is one of my favorite quick restaurant and the Canyon establishment did not disappoint. Great service and food as always for a Chicken Express.

My kid, a college student, loves "Chicken E". Tea, food, service, all fantastic. Fast. Ready to go. Plenty of dipping sauces available. Close to multiple others places like Taco Villa (fantastic combination burritos, nachos, and pretty much anything), a family restaurant called Feldman's Wrong Way, and multiple other smaller quick bite places. This street it's off of runs east and west. The street a block away runs north and south. Packed with opinions for food.

Okay y'all I just stopped in Canyon Texas and ate at Chicken Express. I had the gizzards with a side of okra and a biscuit They were so good and cooked to perfection. The man who took my order was so nice and friendly and made you feel welcome. Very clean place. I can hear staff talking and laughing with each other. No frowning faces here. I highly recommend eating here.

I enjoy their chicken, gravy, corn nuggets and cold slaw. Most everything is fried. Not exactly a healthy meal, but good value and flavor for the money.

The workers aren't paying attention to what the customer is ordering and missing up the order. They did it twice on a dine in and a carryout order.

It is a energetic environment with prompt, accurate service. The mac'n'cheese is cheesy, the potatoes are tasty, the gravy is great for dipping everything, and the chicken fillets are fluffy and crisp. The daily special is reasonable, and Friday is a special of fish, battered in corn meal, and fried perfectly, with a hush puppy...mm mm! Dinning in quality nutrition, with a "fast food" timing.

We got take-out and went home to eat.. We like this Chicken Express bc the food is mostly always hot and fresh, and their service is good!

The wings are some of the best in town. We call them in because they take 15 minutes. They are huge! The staff isn't very friendly at Grand Street but the restaurant is clean when we go eat there. The kids and hubby like the strips too. I like the carfish. The filets are oversized and the breading is also so crisp!

I don’t post reviews often but I think they are on the road back to excellence! I came in last night to pick up dinner and the food was hot and fresh! You do have to wait for catfish because it is made to order but that’s a good thing. The fish and the chicken were hot, fresh and perfectly cooked! The restaurant was clean and the customer service was friendly! I say that they are on the road back to excellence because side items had often been cold and/or really old for the past year or two so I’ve learned to go in and check my order before I leave. Last night I ordered a family side of okra that wasn’t in my bag and she apologized and had to make fresh to fulfill the order. Again, I don’t mind waiting for hot and fresh and all of our dinner was hot, fresh and delicious last night!! I hope management will remind staff that customers will wait for hot and fresh but to make smaller, more frequent batches of the side items so that larger batches don’t have several customers leaving with old and cold sides so every customer can have an excellent meal! Don’t forget to remind staff to double check the orders! I live in Amarillo and I know there are locations closer but this is the location I have visited since it opened when I was in college!

Love chicken express when their chicken is hot and fresh, but for whatever reason they can NEVER get my order right, and not that hard. Even showed the correct order I called in on the ticket. Oh well such as it is.

Always fresh but usually forget items. Last two times there they forgot to include items. However, being under staffed is an issue every establishment is facing right now so I can't blame them too much.

The food is good, but the customer service is terrible. No courtesy whatsoever from the drive through. Gotta do better if they want to keep my business.

Food's great, Only problem I have is employees. Example I ordered 8 pieces of chicken strips and 2 orders of 6 rolls. I get home and find out I had an eight piece fried chicken. When I called and complain, whom ever I talk to had the nerve to tell me they don't have an 8 piece tender. Really do i have to explain. I have had problems with employees rudeness as well. Food again has always been great.

The chicken strips I ordered were completely bland, and just didn't taste good. The young lady at the counter gave off some bad vibes, sighed while I was telling her what I wanted. No formalities whatsoever. Overall, a disappointing experience. Edit: Thank you for the response, I hope to see changes within the near future so I may visit again.

You know how Chicken Express is known for throwing in an extra tender here and there with your order? Not this location. Stingy on the gravy as well, and unlike Popeyes there are generally no coupon options. Prices are a bit high but standard. Quality, speed, and consistency is decent; but for example during my last visit they forgot to include my side that was ordered.

Good prices. I ordered a 3pc chicken dinner, and chose the option for [2] sides (okra, cole slaw) - and a dinner roll. The chicken was just ok - it is just lacked *any* seasoning - it too bland for my taste. I will try the spicy chicken next time. The okra was barely warm. The cole slaw was excellent The dinner roll - was the *best* part of the meal.

Update: Me: How much ice could you put into a drink? Chicken Express: Yes! Don't know why but the quality has gone downhill since I've started coming here 5 years ago. -------------- Don't know if I should feel lucky that my orders never get mixed up and were always quickly served. There are only two types of chicken here that I think are on point; spicy tenders and hot wings. Others main items on the menu are not that good comparing to other chicken places. However, their sides and sweet tea are good. I've so far tried fries, corn nuggets, coleslaw, and cheese sticks.

We went my daughter & I on a Saturday afternoon. It was not good at all. We ordered chicken tenders mash potatoes & orka & roll. The chicken tenders seem they had been sitting there for awhile they weren't hot just warm. I took them back to get better ones and they were the same. Themash were not hot either along with the white gray. I drove from Amarillo to eat there for the reason my daughter really likes this place!! I will never return or ever drive to eat there again. My family was driving through for a trip and stopped here. The chicken was bland and they shorted us a price of chicken and didn’t give me a roll but a biscuit instead. We didn’t notice this until we got driving and figured it wasn’t worth it to turn around, we didn’t want to waste the time to do so. I’d figure someone that’s at least 5 years old can count to 7. If you want chicken express the right way go to Amarillo on grand st. They are way more flavorful and know are you get an order right.

7/15/21 I am amending my review of Chicken Express as of tonight from three stars to two. This is the second time in a month that I've been to Chicken Express and neither time have they gotten 100% of everything correct. Now I realize there is an employee shortage everywhere and I did hear on the news that there is also a chicken shortage due to the loss of jobs at the processing plants. However, if a business cannot 100% fulfill an order they need to communicate that to their customers. Earlier this month my daughter's and I all ordered number ones or number two dinners which involves two sides each and a choice of a biscuit or roll. I always get the number two which is the seven piece and my daughters get the number one which is a four piece. In addition, I usually opt for a roll whereas my daughters usually get a biscuit. Last time we were there, my daughters' chicken pieces were very small to the point they had very little meat on them and it was mostly batter. My meal was supposed to have a roll but instead they gave us all three biscuits. Now we went there tonight after my daughter's work as a swimming lesson teacher, and ordered pretty much the same thing. They did communicate that they were out of mac and cheese but when we got home my 7-piece had four very small strips and one big one instead of seven and they mixed up all the sides in everyone of our meals. I will say that apart from being short my chicken strips (that I did pay extra for!) the sides were correct, just not placed in the right boxes. It sickens me that we live in a time where we are paying exponentially more money for products but we are actually getting less in the form of product and customer service as well as incompetent employees. I try to be very patient, but when it happens more than once it is a choice not to do the right thing by your customers not an accident. Please communicate better. A year ago (3 stars): Good food and fresh, but took way too long to get through the drive-thru. This is compounded by the fact that we were missing our bread from our combos when we got home. I guess I could waste more time in the drive-thru line by checking if our order is correct, but I shouldn't have to.

This place is so expensive but they have livers and gizzards other chicken places don't, so when my hubby wants those, this is where we go...thank goodness that's not very often. The biscuits, rolls and okra were good but I got cold fries.

Where's the Chicken??? Seriously. I must've been served a starving chicken. Ordered two #4 meals. One with 2 legs and another with two thighs. I knew it felt light. I was shocked how little meat there was. How would anyone think someone would be happy with getting ripped off. Why am I literally eating their bad choices. First, I will preface by saying we stopped here after what would normally be the lunch rush, so I realize the employees were probably ready for their shift to be over. Actually, it was abundantly clear they were all just waiting for their shift to be over. Multiple tables were dirty and in need of a wipe down. The floors were disgusting. The soda machine had black stuff coming out of the lines and the ice portion was empty. And normally, I could over look ALL of that if it was busy or potentially short-staffed. But there was 1 car in the drive-thru and our party of 3 were the only customers inside. I counted at least 5 employees in the kitchen area. I'm truly not usually one to complain. I can over look a lot if I feel like someone is genuinely working their hardest or trying their best. And I get it's fast food. I don't expect to be treated like a queen. It would just be nice to eat sub-par chicken and fries in a semi-clean environment.

The only good thing about this place is the sweet tea. I have FIVE issues with this location. First, they're always out of something. Second, they're slow. Third, half the time the order is wrong. Fourth, half the time the chicken is overcooked and dry. Fifth, it's too expensive for how low quality the food is. Buffets, cafeterias, and grocery stores are serving better chicken than this location.

I ordered the fish meal (two pieces) and they only gave me one and said they dropped the other one apparently, so I had to wait another 7 minutes or so. Everything was fine until I got home and saw that they gave me four pieces (which I was happy about) until I started eating, the fish had no flavor whatsoever. We have visited this location about once a month over the course of the last 5 months. Three out of five times our order was wrong. Two of those times I called and spoke to the manager about the problem. The first time we just let it go and chalked it up to the business having an off day even though we didn't receive two of our sides. The second time, a manager named Devin took care of our problem (we were missing fried okra twice). I told him about the first experience so he offered to replace the entire meal for us. Perfect customer service! Fast forward to a few days ago. We drove through this location over the weekend and were given coleslaw instead of mashed potatoes after waiting in line for almost 20 minutes. That wouldn't have been terrible, but the express tenders were so dried out you could break your teeth on them. Unfortunately we didn't discover this until after we were already home so I called and spoke to a very friendly manager named Maddie (?). I explained the situation and told her about our previous problems and she insisted she would replace both of our meals at no charge. She stated she would write it down in their book so the employees would know when we visited the location again. Once again, despite the ongoing problems, I was pleased with how well management handled it. Well, today we needed a quick lunch, so we went inside to get our meals. I explained the situation to the cashier who immediately told the manager on duty (a woman with her hair pulled back and braided.) The manager approached us without a smile and I explained the situation to her. It was clear by her countenance that I was inconveniencing her. She walked back to the office and retrieved the book. She unapologetically advised us she didn't see anything in the book that matched what I told her. She said all she saw was something about two missing potatoes. I reminded her that, yes, we were given coleslaw instead of mashed potatoes the last time and the chicken was inedible as well. Her attitude was completely insulting as she questioned why in the world the other manager would choose to give us free meals over our "problem." She was insinuating I made a deal over nothing and, at this point, I had to bite my tongue over her vile attitude. She personally made our order and handed it to me with a snarky comment of "Well, I made it so I know it's right this time." No "thank you" or "I'm sorry about that!" No apologies whatsoever for the problems or condescending attitude. Thankfully the food was decent today. However, I will never visit this location again.

Ordered our food then got drinks and sat down to wait. 30 minutes goes by before either finally go to the counter and ask where our food is, so the finally bring it out after that. The food wasn't even worth the wait, and flies were bugging us the whole time we ate. Not worth it at all.

This is the first fried chicken place i have been to where they charge you for gravy to go with your mashed taters. It was not on an extra gravy it was with our original order. We will not return.

Very disappointed. This would have been my first time eating at Chicken Express. I went to order food for my family and myself. I was told that they didn't have any chicken on the bone, just tenders. The employee said that it would be 20 minutes or more. If I wanted to wait 20 minutes for fried chicken I could just walk 100 feet to Feldman's. Waiting 20 minutes or more is nowhere near my definition of "express" and I highly doubt anyone else thinks it is either. I just can't believe that a business that specializes in selling chicken quickly wouldn't have half of their chicken menu available to purchase.

Ordered the "fish fillet". Waited 10 min. then inquired about my order status and was told fish takes 8 min. (not mentioned at time of ordering) Waited another 10 min. and finally received an order of badly over done CATFISH. The menu does not say catfish anywhere....I, like most people would, assumed it was generic white fish like evey other deep fried fast food place. GROSS. Never again.

I absolutely love Chicken E food! But there service here is not the best. I feel like they rush to know what I want to order and they get my order wrong half the time! I see workers touch their hair and eat before they check me out and is definitely not a way I want my chicken given to!

The daily specials that made this restaurant stand out have been discontinued. Pricing for the poor quantity and quality of food is excessive. Chicken Tenders were old or reheated under the heat lamp so they were dry and tough. Serving sizes have shrank and the employees are not customer oriented. Like they are not happy or responsive to the customers experience. Two things we asked for when ordering were ignored. Two years ago we ate here 4 times a week, after last Fridays lunch experience we won't be back.

I love chicken express but this location is disappointing. I am a very patient person but this place has disappointed me nearly every time I’ve visited. When they actually get my food out right and in a reasonable amount of time this place is great and I have no complaints. But recently I’ve had more bad experiences than good ones. I’ve worked in food service so trust me I understand being short staffed, making occasional mistakes or being busy, but I also understand what consistent poor service looks like. Most of the time my order is incorrect. In the past I’ve asked for biscuits and gotten rolls or asked for ranch and received cocktail sauce instead. I’ve been shorted on chicken occasionally, too. Also the older lady (the manager I think?) is rude every time I visit even when I go out of my way to be polite to her. Today I went to the drive thru. I was the only person in line when I ordered. I pulled up to the window to pay and didn’t even get acknowledged for 15 minutes. Once again I understand being busy or short staffed so I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but it would have been nice to at least be acknowledged even if I would have had to wait a little bit longer for my food. It’s conveniently located across from the college campus but I think from now on I will save myself the trouble and visit an Amarillo location instead. Side note there used to be the sweetest young girl with a southern accent who worked there and she was always amazing and kind so shoutout to her. I’m not sure who she is or where she went but she was always great with getting orders right and providing incredible service. I wish everyone who works there could be like she was.

Horrible service. Down right terrible. Cashier that took the order definitely did not want to be there and did not listen to order and had to be repeated 3 times. Also, tried to get us to not want to order because it was going to 'take a while'. We ordered for dine in but they put everything in to go boxes. Reminded worker that it was for dine in and worker just said okay and walked on. Didn't offer to get plates like it would normally be served on. The tables were also all filthy with trash cans overflowing. Definitely will not be back for a while. P.S. it takes a lot for me to deem service horrible because I too have been in the restaurant industry and am very understanding

12:30 on a Sunday Labor day weekend and they have NO bone in chicken. Literal half hour wait we were told. At lunch time. On a busy weekend. How do you not cook enough prior to that? Do you cook ALL chicken to order? Is the concept of fast-food too complicated for this establishment? If there was anyone running this circus they need to be taught how to prepare for the lunch rush. This chicken E was peerless a few years ago but it's gone straight to hell.

Always Good Eats and Excellent Service. My teen is addicted to it I left a excellent review a few months ago as seen. Since then I am done eating here. My son can eat on his own dime. They never have biscuits, excuse after excuse the last three times. They have also sent out sweet tea the last two times instead of unsweet.

At one time chicken express was excellent. The one in Canyon Tx has horrible customer service and the last 4 times we have been there they never have the chicken pieces we order. They always say it's gonna be about 15-20 minutes. So much for fast food. We keep giving them chances to prove us wrong but it never fails they don't have what we want. It's a chicken place for Pete's sake! I can assure you We will never eat there again and would not recommend it to anyone! Need to hire responsible adults that can take care of business instead of kids!

So went thru driveup and ordered 1 dozen rolls. Asked for a large box so they wouldn't be smashed - which the do trying to put them in the small box. He said ok. Got to window, paid the guy and was then told it would be 6 minutes before rolls would be ready and to pull forward. He didn't bother to tell me that when ordering. So finally got rolls in the larger box, came home and opened it to find upside down smashed rolls. Are you kidding me? Who wants flat rolls? Look like they were crammed into a small box and then dumped into a bigger one. Service here just is non-existent and the staff is clueless.

First time at a Chicken express. It will also be my last. 2 piece dark, very small pieces, wings have bigger dummies, thigh was all skin and breading, both pieces were almost as cold as the Coleslaw. Dinner roll had a soggy bottom, biscuits were all dried out and crumbly. It did come with a vat of soda, I guess this justifies the $18.60 price for the 2-2 piece meals.

This restaurant is TRASH don’t eat here unless you like food poisoning. As Im sitting here sick as can be, i began to remember this is not the first time this has happened to me and I myself along with many others i know who has gotten sick off their food will never return. The food was cold not cooked properly and seems to have been setting for hours. If I could give zero stars I would.

Went through the drive through around 5p.m. today and ordered a number 2 with a side of fries and 2 rolls. Usually the number 2 consists of a 7 piece meal. Got home and opened the box and there is only 5 pieces and one roll and very few fries for $17.67.

Chicken Express was once the best fast food restaurant in Canyon. Lately, they have been rude and EXTREMELY slow. I have been charged for dipping sauce. I had never been charged previously and now it seems to be an inconvenience to even get dipping sauces. I hope that they find their way back.

Only reason this is getting 1 star is bc the sweet tea is always on point. Besides that, I just ordered a spicy #1 and the chicken was inedible and the mashed potatoes were like paste. There was barely any chicken in the breading, and what little chicken was there seemed like eating jerky from sitting under the heat lamp all day. If you can manage to make other things to order, chicken should be the biggest since the word is in the name of the store. Chicken Express has always been my favorite place to get chicken since I moved to the area bc other places always serve theirs this way. This was a first... not happy spending $10 on something I couldn't eat..

I've tried and tried with this location. I have always loved Chicken Express and this location was no exception years ago. But now they take 20min plus for one meal and short you chicken every time. There will be chicken and sides stacked for days on there trays to slap in a box and send out! But no, they will wait on a fried liver before they move to another order. I waited 53min once in the drive through and they shorted us 9 tenders in a 20pc the okra way over done and all cold. The same manager has been at this location the entire time!!??? How is this? The town has nothing good to say about the service. The only reason this place is still in buisness is because of the brand and how well all of there other locations do. For the love please send a training coordinator to this location so that we can get the same great service at the Canyon branch. You have to be loosing $500 minimum a night in revenue on average. Or $180,000+ a year!!! Probably worth the attention?

I went here about 2 months ago to get fish and it did not taste right. The server give me a refund and told me that it did not taste right maybe because of a new cook they had. Tea was the only thing good that day I went there today and I order 3 pcs chicken as you can see on the label and they did not give me 3 pcs I’ve been to multiple chicken-e and I’ve never had any problems but this one is never right somehow. I guess in the future is better to just go to Amarillo

Ordered delivery online, they contract through door dash. Food arrived without family sized mashed potatoes and gravy, also missing 6 rolls. Not the door dash driver's fault since chicken-e seals the order in a plastic bag.

Purchased 2 chicken strip meals, paid and asked for 2 sauces- was told I would have to pay extra for 2 sauces (these weren't extra sauces- they don't give ANY sauce with their chicken strip meals)- so i had to run my card AGAIN for 2 sauces. I try not to complain, but if you're serving chicken strips from your establishment, at least one sauce should be included with each meal. I realize these are individually owned franchises and this was this particular franchisees decision, but that's poor ownership IMO. I too own a franchise and there are typical things offered with our services free of charge- it's part of good customer service- which this location clearly does not have. I tried to contact their corporate office and was directed to the owner. It may have been a minimal charge, but at least one sauce should be included with each meal considering what the cost of each meal is. Hoping their corporate office sees this- it was more about a poor customer experience than anything.

Ordered combo meals through the drive through. Got home and they did not put fries in either order. Called manager to inform him and he did not offer an apology.

Tried to get food from here, but I given a list of side items they were out of. I asked about a different side, and was told they were out of that also and they they were out of basically all of their sides. Then whoever was working the drive thru said they didn't have any chicken except for spicy. I asked them if they had only spicy chicken and no sides and was told yes. The employee was not friendly and of course we had to go eat somewhere else. They probably should have closed if they didn't have food. This was the worst experience from a chicken express that I've had. We usually love their food and the employees are generally great. I'm hoping this was just an off night and next time will be better so I can update my review

The chicken tenders was good and so was the fish fillet. The thing that got me the most was cleaniness of the floors and they leave food on the floor where the food is at. It also surprises me that none of them are wearing hair nets especially when they are handling are food and etc.
