Excellent service, great atmosphere and fantastic food. Best 🌶 rellinios anywhere.
Chips and salsa hands down the best I've had since I moved .. guacamole was great and that margarita baby I had one .. finished off with quesadillas and they was delicious.. perfect spot and very quiet
This. This is the place you’re looking for. I’ve tried so many Mexican restaurants throughout DFW and this one shot straight to the top of the list. Not only is the food homemade, it’s well seasoned and tastes like there’s a lot of love put into it. The salsa is spicy which is something both me and my husband really love. If I could add an extra star for that I would!
Was amazing when we first went in 2014 and 11 years later still just as great. Brisket tacos, Beef fajita enchiladas and ground beef tacos all best I’ve had in awhile. Chips and salsa really good as well.
The salsa was hot but very good. I had the shrimp fajitas and they were fresh, plump, big, clean and not over cooked. DELICIOUS! The tortillas were fresh prefect. The margaritas are strong so you get what you pay for. Best mexican food in Dallas so far that we've found and we've eaten at many. Such great service for the entire staff. Clean restuarant. Super clean bathrooms too.
Had the Triple D platter, yes Guy Ferari has been here. Big portions of great food. Chips and salsa was on point as well as the service. Margaritas were those sneak up on ya good! Don't forget to get the bread pudding!
Ok, this place is a hidden gem. I've been living in the area, passing it almost every day for years. I wish I had known of it sooner, but I know now! The food is fresh, hot, and amazing! The portions will satisfy the biggest appetite. The staff is very friendly and service is quick for a dine in spot. It's small, so if peak time, there may be a wait. But the wait is definitely worth it. The food is 10 out of 10! The coat is a little more than I expected, but the cost of everything is more than I expect these days. However, the food and service is also worth the price!
Great food and atmosphere. We had a slight issue but the waiter and Manager were able to fix it and were very courteous and understanding of the situation.
Avila's is a tiny locally run restaurant. If you want authentic Mexican food YOU MUST go here. The food was incredible. Major depth of flavor. The pozole is incredible. Brisket taco was BOMB. I got the Triple D combo and it INCLUDED BOTH along with a pork tamale. Huge portions. I took my leftovers back to my hotel to munch on after I went out for drinks. Yum! Quick Uber ride from downtown Dallas. It doesn't seem touristy at all and the decor is classic Mexican ambiance with brightly colored walls and flags. It's truly a must when dining out in Dallas.
Homemade food with good quantity and quality. Really home may make you feel like Mama's back there in the kitchen cooking for you. Beware of the salsa that they put on your table at first because it is super hot. Lol This is a very special restaurant to have special memories. It's very cozy and family oriented. Enjoy
AMAZING!!! This place is a gift from God. Absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is perfect. The chips crisp. The salsa spicy and hard to stop eatting. The flour tortillas are so fresh and HAND MADE, like you'd expect from a quality authentic Mexican restaurant. The Chicken Fajitas were charred to perfection, still juicy and moist. I really highly HIGHLY recommend this place. It is very affordable too.
This food is so so good and is a must have in Dallas. Small place, cozy vibes, great great food. Enchiladas are so fresh, the maiz is soft and the meat even softer. The pozole has a kick, the chimichanga can hold it's own, and the mole is so worth it! Beans and rice are done very well too
I had multiple platters from Avilas and I have not been disappointed. The chips and salsa they bring you is on point, it’s spicy but most importantly tasty! Place is a little compact but this location must kept a secret since this place is one the very few Mexican restaurants that have good food in Dallas county. You will typically spend $25 on yourself which ain’t so bad. Careful when you park on the left side of building, I seen Uber/Doordash drivers hit people’s cars when backing up since it’s a tight parking lot.
Really great spot, food tasted great, and staff was very courteous! They kept coming by to refill waters and our individual salsas and chips, which was super nice! Better quality than anywhere else in the city imo. Prices were great too! I recommend the brisket tacos
If you're looking for hole-in-the-wall Tex Mex, you have found it. Located in an unassuming building in an unassuming part of town, this place is awesome. It is a small building, but they have maximized the space. We went for a late Sunday lunch and it wasn't crowded, but I could see it getting crowded at night. There was parking available on site. The queso was great and the rest of the food was absolutely delicious!
Super cute, local restaurant that has been a hot spot for 20 years. Open the door and go inside for amazing service and super yummy food. Our volleyball team and parents were so excited to stumble upon it. Will be back for sure!
Authentic and delicious. They start with a bottomless chips and salsa. The salsa is addictive but be cautious - it is on the spicy side. Portions are large enough that you won't leave hungry and the prices are very reasonable. Most importantly, the flavors are spot on. One of my favorite Dallas food spots.
My last day in Dallas for my business trip and I wanted to have some Mexican food before I left. It was difficult finding a traditional Mexican food restaurant, so I settled on Tex Mex and was not disappointed in this place. I had the brisket tacos, beans, and rice. It also came with a little pico de gallo and a small amount of guacamole. They also serve chips and salsa with the meal. The chips were fresh, not from my bag and hot. The salsa was really good, maybe slightly hot for some people but perfect for me. The brisket tacos are just meat on a corn tortilla, they also have the option of flour tortillas. The meat was very flavorful, and the tortillas were lightly fried, and very good. The beans had a good texture and a good flavor, which is hard to find in the southern United States, Mexican restaurants in the southern states usually they turn the beans into some weird purée. The rice was good, probably could’ve used a little more cumin, but good overall. The service was excellent. Overall this place is totally legit and if I’m ever in the area again, I will definitely make it a point to stop here and try some more things.
Quick trip for work. Being from San Diego, didn't expect this place to meet my expectations. They did not disappoint. This is a top 3 for me. I had the DDD, no posole but did a brisket enchilada substituted. Man the brisket and flavors and spices is like none I've had before. Rice and beans are really good to. Chips and salsa were fresh and salsa has some heat!! Had the top shelf margarita, was ok. Would definitely visit again.
Absolutely delicious. Super friendly, not too busy, authentic, salsa is spicy and tasteful. Food was quickly delivered. I never leave reviews but did for this place.
Oh wow. We ordered 15 beef and cheese enchiladas and Spanish rice to take to my mom's to celebrate her birthday on Monday evening, the 16th of Dec. When we opened the hot containers at the house, could not believe the hearty size of the enchiladas well filled with beef. The rice tasted like our hone made Spanish rice and was plenty to feed 5 people. The enchiladas were really flavorful with the Chilli sauce bur not drenched with the Chilli sauce. We plan to go back and try other dishes. I highly recommend it. The atmosphere is not much, but who cares? The food and service is what matters. I fed 5 people plenty of food, chips and hot sauce with 78 dollars. The brisket tacos were so huge and great! There are other items on their menu , we definitely want to try.
Food was astronomical. It was by far the best and most authentic tasting Mexican food I have ever had. I had the Dan’s Burritos and I was blown away. As soon as the heavenly burrito touched my tongue, words could not fully describe how immaculate the food was. As you can see from the picture below after I finished eating, there was absolutely zero food left. The service was amazing. Somehow they always knew when it was the right time to ask if you needed a refill. I didn’t feel an ounce of haste when finishing up my food. My family came with a relatively large group, and they wasted no time accommodating the place for us. As for the atmosphere, it felt very welcoming. When I stepped in, I was greeted by pleasant smells of high value Mexican food. I highly recommend coming here if you live in Dallas or are just visiting.
Some of the best chicken fajitas I've ever had. Haven't tried the beef yet. Got the chicken and shrimp combo for lunch and loved every bite. The shrimp didn't have a lot of flavor but wasn't over cooked so no real complaints there. Chips and salsa with the margaritas were really good too. Will definitely be back. Edit. Second time visiting the shrimp had much more flavor.
Wonderful establishment! Small and cozy. Very nice home feel. Add to its character. Quick and nice staff. Food is delish! Well priced and beers cold. These chips and salsa though. WARNING their salsa is SPICY!! I love spicy and my mouth was cookin! Delicious salsa but I recommend getting your drink before you dig in. You WILL thank me. Definitely will be back! Parking is a little tight but there is some. Great find!
Great little spot, almost hidden due to the auto shops around it. Maple Ave is changing quickly. If this place can hold on another 5 years it will be in the middle of a major resurgence for Maple Ave. It is two doors down from Starbucks.
This Mexican restaurant in Dallas is one of the best, if not the best in the country. The food is outstanding, the service is exceptional, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the fajitas are particularly noteworthy. This place is definitely worth checking out.
When you drive up to this DDD you think...huh. I read the reviews and hoped everything is as good as the locals say. IT WAS! They served us hot chips and salsa homemade. I ordered the queso dip. It was good. Haley ordered the quesadilla. I ordered the chili relleno...no surprise. Howard's enchiladas we're delicious. Haley liked her quesadilla. Me, I LOVED my CHILI RELLENO. OMG.. best Chili Relleno ever. I ordered the poblano sour cream sauce. It was amazing. I am so impressed by the difference in the way different regions prepare and serve their chilli relleno. This was not your typical battered and fried fare. It was stuffed with delicious cheese baked and smothered in the most delicious poblano sour cream sauce. The "mushy beans" were delicious. That's the way refried beans should be. I loved the food at this place. Do not hesitate to stop by and eat. You will not be dissatisfied.
Best Mexican food. Family owned. Best hot salsa. We always take a container to go. We’ve also catered from them. Excellent and consistent food.
I thought I was at the wrong place based on it being an old house with burglary bars all around it. Once inside it was a trip to an authentic place in Mexico city. Love the cozy ambience and friendly customer service. Menu is small, which means it's been perfected. Definitely recommend the fajita platters and cold beers! 10/10.
Excellent service and amazing authentic food. Great spicy salsa and home made chips. I ordered the triple D combo and I can truly say that it was the best tomale that I've ever had. I typically do not even enjoy them. The brisket gordita was also amazing. I will be back for the food, service, and margaritas.
1 this place will remind you of eating at your grandma's. Even though you may not be Mexican. 2 the menu is huge if you can't find a dish you are sad 3 the tortillas are made per order. Yes they are special. 4 the beans are over the top The brisket is very tender,so whatever you order with brisket will make you want more 5 the food comes super hot. 5 now for the last but not to be missed too bread pudding was so unbelievably over the everything . Yum yum yum. 7 please take the time to go to this place. You will not be sorry. No you just might thank yourself
Stumbled upon this no frills, hole-in-the-wall, family style Mexican restaurant. Busy place but they try to space out as much as they can but I guess food here is so good and people keep coming in. Very friendly waiters. You get free flow chips as you are seated and their salsa is out of this world delicious with a nice kick of spiciness. We saw that portions here are huge so decided to share the Plato Grande Combo so we get to try everything. We were not disappointed...love the gentle heat that permeates throughout the dish. Will definitely return to try other dishes on the menu.
The drinks were amazing and the salsa is top notch. They must fire roast their veggies in the salsa because you can taste a char. The salsa also had a good kick to it. We actually asked for some to-go! The enchiladas were great and the pozole was comforting.
This Dallas hole in the wall is not to be missed. The salsa has the right amount of kick, the meat they use is top notch, and the service is great. But oh my, the bread pudding is absolute heaven. My whole family has declared it their favorite dessert in the city.
The best Mexican food I have ever eaten in my entire life. The best Mexican restaurant in the United States. Salsa was very flavorful, tasty. Friendly staff, budget friendly meals and amazing food. Their quesadillas are to die for.. very good food. Will come again… a good heart-warming meal cooked to perfection
I visited Avila’s Mexican Restaurant and had a great experience. I ordered the pozole and the brisket tacos, and both were absolutely delicious. The pozole was rich, flavorful, and comforting. The kind of dish that tastes like it’s been simmering all day with love. It came with all the right toppings on the side, super fresh. The brisket tacos were tender, juicy, and full of smoky flavor. The tortillas were fresh and the portion was generous. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. If you’re looking for classic Mexican food done right, Avila’s is definitely worth a visit!
Diamond in the rough! Hands down the best brisket tacos in Dallas. I have ordered many things on their menu and it’s always delicious. Terrific fresh margaritas. It’s my go to when I visit Dallas. I highly recommend this restaurant. Don’t let the outside aesthetic fool you! The food service and ambiance are beautiful
What an awesome little hole in the wall! It is a small space but they make the most of it and their food is fantastic. The servers were friendly and helpful. We tried the chicken fajitas, Avila special enchiladas and the pan fried tacos and it was all super delicious. Their salsa has a good kick to it so be aware if you have a sensitive midwest palate like me.. but I got a side of sour cream and the combo of that with their spicy salsa was perfect.
This is such an amazing Tex Mex spot in Dallas. The pulled pork tacos are packed with flavor, so definitely order those. The fish tacos were also good. I don’t order fajitas that often, but these are the best beef fajitas I’ve tried. They were so crispy and the peppers/veggies were delicious. The sopapilla dessert with honey is also tasty. The interior is warm and cozy. I will definitely return for a second visit.
Best known for their Pozole which I’ve gotten soooo many times before. Tonight I tried something different. The Brisket Poblano Pepper was one of the best meals I’ve had here. Hot sauce is really spicy. Margaritas are not the best I’ve had but are good. Great service and authentic atmosphere. Will always come back.
Ok, I was coming from the airport and wanted good Mexican food, this randomly popped up and man was I happy. Had no idea this place was on DDD-but it absolutely belongs on the hallowed grounds of Guy Fieris show. The salsa and chips were insanely good and the salsa had a perfect heat to it, and the guacamole appetizer was good fresh made chunky guacamole. We got a smattering of fantastic foods: elote shrimp tacos, black refried beans, pasole and beef tamale and a torta thing (it was part of the DDD dish that showcases the highlights of the place), got pork tacos as well. We finished it up with the flan which was *perfection*. I live in AZ where we have great Mexican food but I would absolutely rate this as some of the best I’ve ever had. The beef tamala was my personal favorite as was the elote shrimp tacos. Come here! Totally worth it!
Let me start by saying that I haven't had Mexican food like this in a very long time. Avila's checked all the boxes. Good chips and salsa. Good queso. And a variety of dishes. Anything you might want, they have it on the menu. I had the Gorditas and they were fresh, crunchy, and delicious. I was surprised by how much food we were served. They definitely don't jip you on portions. Even the coca cola was good. Again, food and drink were amazing. Finally, the service was amazing. We were taken care of by two of the waitresses. They were kind and attentive. I never ran out of soda and our food was out quick. They made me feel like family and aside from the food, the service these two ladies gave me and my bf will be one of the main reasons I will come back. Thank you again to the staff at Avila's. You guys know how to do it!
Love this hole in the wall! Great spicy salsa. The chicken fajitas are so flavorful! Highly recommend the food. Parking is a bit difficult however but solid hole in the wall spot
Real deal Tex Mex, Enchiladas are a must get and staff is incredibly efficient. Always crowded with limited seating but they move people in and out. Salsa is spicy, you can't stop eating it though.

This place was pretty dang good. I will admit that I was a little leary bc the queso was a little bland and the hot sauce was waaaaay to spicy. I barely got it to my tongue before the spice hit. The enchilada's were amazing though. Very flavorful and good portions. Lots of chicken and the sour cream sauce was different but very good. Not to mention the rice was really flavorful too. It's hard to find good rice. Overall rather impressed. Just the hot sauce, queso, and the little longer a wait than normal, but the wait qas worth it for those yummy enchiladas.
Excellent! The queso was lacking in flavor, the hot sauce was so hot, you couldn't eat it and the chips weren't great; HOWEVER, the entrees were amazing! We had cheese enchiladas and chicken enchiladas, which tasted great. The rice had a wonderful flavor and the refried, as well as the black, beans were very good. The server was friendly, but the service was extremely slow, but worth the wait. Small restaurant, which made it really loud once it filled up. Also, I have a large vehicle and the parking is very tight. It was a little scary getting out, but overall, the experience was a pleasant one.
I had it delivered to my hotel, but the food was great and still warm.
This place serves quality tex mex with relatively reasonable prices. I've enjoyed their enchiladas and omelettes; ample vegetarian options if you're looking for that. The portion sizes are also good for a full meal. The complimentary salsa is decent but nothing extraordinary. Setting is a bit cramped but worth it for 2-4 people.
Highly recommend. Solid Mexican food. Excellent service.
When I say this place has the best Chicken Flautas... I said what I said. Not only are they giant. But the chicken inside isn't processed/frozen mushiness. The salsa has a good kick too.
Beef fajita nachos were exceptionally delicious, the quality of meat were tender and seasoned just right. They grilled onion and red bell peppers that kicked up the flavor a notch. The Papito’s Special had a nice variety and everything was good. The queso was excellent as was the salsa (although hot). Some of the staff was great, but some not. The bathroom was disgusting with urine on the seat and floor. Great place to eat just use the bathroom elsewhere.
This small place is great. Featured on Guy Fieri's Diner's, Drive-In's and Dives, it mixes authentic Mexican food with tex-mex and blends them together superbly. Let me warn you that the salsa they bring out first has a kick to it. Very flavorful with those great chips but it is on the spicy side. I loved it. We started with queso which was a creamy blend of cheeses and warm, great with the chips. The Flour nachos were next and just what you would expect but with flour tortilla chips vs corn. I have had these a couple of places but a bit unusual. These nachos are the only starter I would pass on as the beans were a bit runny and not all that flavorful. We decided, as this was our first time, to try a bit of a variety of things so we ordered the Plato Grande Combo. WOW! What a meal! It comes with a Chile Relleno, one brisket taco, one cheese/chili enchilada, one tamale, rice and beans. The cheese/chili enchilada was standard, flavorful and not greasy like many places. The brisket taco was very good, had a nice flavor, fell apart in your mouth, and although very slightly dry, it was so good you quickly forgot that. The pork tamale was exceptional. The flavor was fantastic, nicely steamed, remove the husk and it falls apart in your mouth. These were done so perfectly, I would order a dozen of them. The stand out in this dish however, is without a doubt the Chile Relleno. One of the best I have ever had. Large Relleno stuffed full of cheese, very lightly breaded and topped with cheese and the sauce is to die for. Just a mouthful of pleasure, none of this will be left on a plate. Absolutely delicious! The rice was done well as a side and the beans on the plate were better as a side than on the nachos. Try this place out. It is very small and we went on a Sunday. I can imagine that it is packed during normal dining times, and there isn't any doubt as to why. Great little place with very good food! We shall return!
Very quaint and delicious! Glad we had Uber. Tricky to find. Just visiting Dallas while waiting on a flight out of Love Field.
I will start with the seating. I don't mind cozy restaurants but this was way too close for comfort. It's too many tables and chairs for the space they have. The food on the other hand is absolutely delicious. It was seasoned and the presentation was nice. The waitress staff was very attentive and I didn't have to look for them when I needed anything. I will definitely be eating here again.
Nice little place! I was visiting my daughter in Dallas and a friend of hers recommended Avila's. I got the pulled pork tacos and they got the fajita quesadilla. We shared with each other and both were really good. We did both slightly prefer the tacos. The chips were good. The salsa had a bit of a kick to it, but I'm not someone who eats spicy food a lot. It's one of those salsas that build up as you keep eating. But again, I'm somewhat of a light weight. Very attentive service as well!
Went with some coworkers for lunch during the week. I ordered the 3 soft taco plate with ground beef which were really good. The refried beans were also really good however i was not too impressed with the rice. The chips and salsa were also fresh and really good. The salsa was extremely hot so be aware!! I would definitely return without hesitation.
I found this restaurant from Tripple Ds and the food was delicious I got chicken fajitas came piping warm and the shells was freshly cooked. The onions were so fresh you could taste the grill making! Our server was super attentive and made sure our drinks kept coming. Just a must check out and see
Avila's is a cozy restaurant with some authentic Mexican and tex mex dishes. If it's your first time you'll want to pay attention because it's so easy to pass. Parking is located between the restaurant and the auto shop next door. Food was good. I enjoyed the shrimp fajitas and my partner had the chicken gordita which they enjoyed. Salsa that comes with chips tasted great with the perfect amount of heat. Service was okay. Our waitress was attentive and checked in on us multiple times. Overall Service 4.5/5 Parking 4/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Food 4/5 Cleanliness 4/5

Very solid family run business. I cannot wait to go back to try the fajitas, which smelled delicious!
Super delicious food and huge portions. A small inside space with a long wait but they allowed us to sit outside and the service was fast! Gorditas were filling and tasty. Brisket tacos and queso…
After reading the reviews about this places we decided to visit.. Not being from the area it was a little hard to find, the parking lot on the side is a good thing to have. We were greeted promptly and taken to our table, our server took our drink and food order and then the food came..... not very impressed with the food...I had the Guisado de Puerco, the sauce was bland and the pork meat had no taste, my wife had the cheese enchiladas with 3 different sauces with only one sauce being good, one thing we have never seen is Mexican cheese enchiladas stuffed with cheddar cheese, they had no distinguished flavor, the jalapeño margarita was weak and watered down...we couldn't find our server for a long time so I had to get up and asked someone to send her to or table... Lots of good reviews about this place but maybe we went there on a bad day...place was loud...chips and salsa not too bad..
Way too expensive..$13 lunch specials, was only an assortment dishes consisting of beans, cheese l, and rice.. no chicken, no beef, no shrimp..Salsa too spicy. Almost not tolerable.. food not to flavorful..service was great but food not on par with Texmex I come to expect in this region of the country
Came by for lunch and it wasn’t busy at all. It’s a small restaurant but it’s really cute inside. Ordered the beef gorditas it came with rice and beans. Gordita’s was decent, rice and beans were really good. Also ordered the Triple D - Tamale was greasy and had no flavor. Brisket Gordita- dry and no flavor. Pozole - this was really good. This also came with rice and beans. Service was good.
They are super friendly and attentive. Food was really good with lots of flavor. We really liked their micheladas. I had enchiladas a la mexicana and hubby had chile rellenos with ranchero sauce. Both were delicious. I ordered a side of the ribeye steak but was not impressed with it. It had way too much fat for me and was not as tender as I would of liked. Salsa had lots of flavor and hubby liked the queso. All in all good food but I am still on the hunt for the best enchiladas.
Spur the moment lunch. Very friendly service, as well as attentive. Hubby had chicken fajitas, not exactly what you would expect. But good. I had sour cream enchilada, it was OK, the sour cream sau…
We were in town for a convention at the Hilton Anatole and like to visit small places that are not chain restaurants. I chose this place because of the trip advisor reviews as I feel they give the mo…
Vibe was good, initially left a good review, and it’s now about 02:48 am the next day. I’ve been intermittently vomiting this meal since 1:00. I ate the shrimp tacos, brisket tacos, and the ribeye steak fajitas with beans and rice. $60 down the drain. There’s no suspicion that it wasn’t them because I only eat once a day. Looks like my review was removed. Bumped.
I had the worst experience with customer service. At first I walked in and was confused no one was in sight. Then I seen this big lady from behind the counter asking me if I was helped, I replied no with a confused look cause I was standing there. She gave me a crazy look and walked away. Someone finally gave me a menu and sat down to look at it. The lady kept walking in and out the restaurant with the crazy look and it seemed she was talking to herself. I automatically felt a bad vibe from her and told her I will be leaving due to feeling uncomfortable. She the went off on me with an attitude. She started talking crap to me and was super rude. Everyone else looked pretty nice and helpful.
The worst Mexican food we’ve ever had. The Dan’s burrito was disgusting. It was drowning in the queso cheese, which was gross. The beef that came with it had no flavor and tasted old. The lemonade tasted like toilet water with lemon in it. Made me feel sick. Definitely won’t be coming back here.
I use to really love this place. The food is actually quite good. I think it's actually better than Ojeda's down the street. However, the service here is nothing to be desired. There are usually two female waitresses here that do the serving. The taller brunette is usually more friendly than the shorter one but she doesn't smile much. That's okay I guess. However, the shorter more heavy set lady with glasses...she can be so rude and has a horrible attitude at times. I have actually avoided this place and went to Ojeda's because I was concerned I'd get her again. The food may not be as good at Ojeda's but the service is excellent/superb. Maybe that's one of the reasons the place is so crowded and packed most of the time.
