Authentic Ethiopian goodness. I always go vegetarian for the main, but Kitfo is too good to pass up as a starter!

Ate food from this restaurant twice this month. First Ethiopian food experience in Dallas and was very happy! Both times got the vegetarian sampler for two. Everything was delicious and filling. The green beans are the best! The injera was great, more flavorful than other I have had. Tonight we also had the beef tartar- spicy and fresh. First time we got takeout but tonight we ate at the restaurant. Beautiful space, friendly staff and happy to see a lot of people there. Will definitely continue to support this restaurant.

4 of us came on a Friday night - We almost missed the parking lot because the restaurant itself is mostly underground. When we arrived, the restaurant was mostly empty, but we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Water and menus were delivered quickly. We ordered the ground beef and butter rolled in injera as an appetizer, the lamb curry, 2 beef dishes, and a veggie sampler to share. Everything came on a family style platter and was served at the perfect temperature. Every dish was delicious and had its own flavor. We were exceptionally happy with the food. We finished with hot teas. We will definitely be back!

Very good food, and reasonably priced. Loved the lamb dish we tried, and the ground beef cooked in curried chickpea sauce. Looking forward to visiting again. Location is not easy to spot as it is partially below ground level. If you cannot negotiate stairs, call ahead for handicapped access via the back door.

The only thing better than the food was the service. We were very pleased with both!

Came in on a Friday afternoon for the first time and it was so delicious, my family came back the next day. I absolutely love Ethiopian cuisine. This was traditional Ethiopian food. The service is amazing as well as the food! Thank you Haymi!

Hidden gem! The vegetarian platter was extremely flavorful, and lots of variety! We also had the lamb tibs which was good but didn’t have too many lamb pieces. Overall would definitely come back and try some more dishes

The food here is seriously outstanding. Everything we had was great, including the Ethiopian hot tea. It's downstairs when you get there. As for the atmosphere. It is quiet and the lighting is a little dimmer so good for a dinner setting. The service is great. Again, this food is outstanding. I would definitely eat all of it again.

I loved the vibe of this restaurant. The food was really good too and very nice people. I wish they would've had a dessert menu.

Return visit to this delicious restaurant and bar. Downstairs location, and we always visit on an off hour, but excellent service and tantalizing food! Staff is friendly and helpful. I have gotten the veg combo twice and husband has gotten beef dishes. Huge portions so plan on sharing. We love the firery butter spiced injera bread appetizer. There is an area for musicians and a large bar area as well. Would be nice for a group dinner or date night.

Absolutely love this place! It does not look like much from outside - especially having to go down the stairs to basement. But the ambience and the food were both amazing! Love their spiced up, lightly toasted injera (katagna). All the items in veggie sampler were delicious. So was the herbal tea! Good portion size. Good service. Fulfilling experience every time!

Great food, nice atmosphere, and friendly service. This was my first time eating Ethiopian, and I'm glad I chose this place to try it! Ordered the vegetarian for two plus an order of lamb. Not only was it delicious, but there was plenty to take home too. Our meal was made just a little bit better and more fun because there was a DJ and a birthday celebration in the dining hall. The spirit of this place vibrant and fun. I'll be coming back again because I liked every single thing about my visit.

I love, love, love, love, LOVE this place! Since coming for my first time, it has been my favorite restaurant in Dallas but I didn't fully appreciate it for what it was until talking to one of the owners last night. Wow. Their commitment to truly authentic Ethiopian food is almost unheard of in the restaurant world! They do the long, hard work to keep things traditional in the best of ways and are authentically passionate about making really great food with a lot of heart. It was fascinating to hear how much care goes into literally every single dish. They could literally make a cooking show off of this one restaurant alone. On top of all that, everybody we've talked to is incredibly friendly and warm. I'd give this six stars if I could!

I just took my wife and 4 (older) kids (ages 11-20). We all loved it! We ordered the meat and veggies platter for 4 and one other dish and were all stuffed (with leftovers). Simple atmosphere and community eating (the whole family eating with our hands from the platters). Very enjoyable evening - great food at a great price. We'll be back.

Absolutely amazing food at this place. Just stopped in because of the reviews on yelp, and it was exactly what everyone else has written! This was not my first time eating Ethiopian food, but I have to say it was the best so far!!! Service was a little slow but there were 7 or 8 tables and one waitress. I thought she did an amazing job keeping everyone happy, even when she had a table that was giving her a little trouble. I ordered the vegetable combo and it included a great selection of dishes. I truly wanted to lick my plate when I was done! I will definitely be back sooner than later!

This place is a hidden gem. Very easy to miss it but it is worth the try. I am a lover food, so I will try almost everything at least once.. I have had Ethiopian food before once which I didn't like, I had Doro Wot. So, when my business partner suggested Ethiopian food for our meeting, I was excited to try again. Maybe the first time was not a good day. So we went here and first, I must say that the reception was warm and sweet. The lady took us to our seats and she was pleasant while she took our orders. She answered all our questions and brought us our wines fast (Honey Wine) which was delicious. We placed our orders and waited for approximately 30minutes which seemed like a long wait, except when the food came, it was easy to see why. We had ended up ordering the beef ribs because someone next to us had that and the hot sizzling sound of frying made me want it haha. Sometimes, I do that. Get inspired by someone's order. I don't eat much meat generally so that meat was a lot but to-go pack to the rescue.. yayyy. Well, overall, I will say, I tried it a second time and wasn't bought over. It will take me maybe falling in love with an Ethiopian to try the food the third time lol (I joke) but yeah, you get the point. Overall ambience of the restaurant was warm and welcoming. There was a diverse crowd too and that was excited to see. When we were there, there were Ethiopians (of course lol) other Africans, African Americans, Caucasians, Asians and more. It was sweet to see how adventurous and welcoming others are to food. Go here for the food, the warmth and culture. Oh! I loved the culture of the place, so much vibrant art work. Great place I'd recommend for lovers of Ethiopian food.

This was an amazing experience. It our first time having ethiopian food so we went with the large veggie platter and some of the Kitfo(raw). Everything on the plate was delicious and the manager came out to helpfully explain what everything was when the server learned it was our first time. We will be going back and try everything else on the menu. Highly recommend for those looking to try something new.

Great food, great atmosphere, and great service! I grew up eating Ethiopian food for 16 years in East Africa and this is the best experience I’ve had in the US! The owner came out to greet us and he let us know his family has owned a Yenat Guada restaurant back in Ethiopia for 50 years and they cook it here in Dallas with the same family recipe/ingredients from Ethiopia. It really was delicious and the restaurant is delightful.A great experience at a reasonable price!(What we had: Doro Wot, Shiro Wot, Zil Zil Tibs, and Ayeb be Gomen)

Amazing food, great atmosphere, live jazz on Fridays, reasonable prices. I've spent time in Ethiopia and have had lots of Ethiopian food in the US - this place is fantastic and very authentic. It's easy to miss the place from the street and the outside of the building is not the nicest looking but don't let that sway you. Highly recommend!

Recently hosted a private party at Yenat Guada. The food was timely set up and in beautiful chafing dishes. All the guests complimented how much they enjoyed the fresh food and variety. The restaurant was able to set tables according to my party size perfectly. They also accomodated a generous amount of time to decorate prior to the party.

My first time eating Ethiopian food. Wonderful! The restaurant is downstairs in the building. Very nicely decorated. The gentleman that waited on us was very helpful. He gave us good suggestions. We had a vegetarian sampler and beef served on a sizzling plate as well as the bread and ginger tea. Price was also good. I look forward to going again.

Friday late lunch with friends and we decided to try something new. This restaurant is on the lower floor of a very unremarkable building. But the inside is so nice! Food was awesome. We don't know Ethiopian food well so we asked the server lady to make recommendations for the meat. It was a good portion of spicy beef for 3 + 2 orders of vegetable combo. The price is fair. Thanks for your service!

Everything about this restaurant was the bomb!!! I really like the way the restaurant is below ground level and then when you walk in the ambience is nice and chill, the entire restaurant is clean including the restrooms.lt smells like food, and the food is good. The people are friendly, smiling and the Ethiopian coffee is so delicious.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! This location is kind of tucked in the bottom of an unassuming looking bldg. There's never a wait time and the service is quick. The food...YESSSS!! I always order the ginger tea and I've yet to find another establishment that makes it as delicious as this place does. The ginger really shines with just enough honey sweetness. Overall, highly recommend if you enjoy traditional Ethiopian foods. They have a good selection of vegetarian and non vegetarian options and relatively inexpensive.

We have an amazing dinner at this place, we were sceptical to enter, it didn't look very good from outside, but once you are inside nothing matters! I was craving for delicious Ethiopian food and I found it! Ask for the vegetarian combo and add the lamb to it! You will love it! Delicious! The service was very nice and friendly!

The best Ethiopian food I've had in Dallas yet, the cooks here are very skilled. And I paid $30 including tip for a two person dinner. And they didn't skimp on portion sizes either. I truely have no complaints except that this place is hard as balls to see from the street. Put up a bigger sign guys! I had to do a u turn and I parked in the wrong parking lot. A minor complaint though.

The building looked sketchy at first, but the restaurant is nice on the inside. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious! Came here for the first time today and couldn’t have been happier. Every single thing here was great, and our waitress had terrific suggestions for us that we’ll be ordering again the next time we come back. The veggie combo platter was exactly what we wanted, and something we’ll likely get again as well!

Awesome place. I’ve had Ethiopian before but tonight I introduced my husband to it. There are spicy and non spicy dishes. I’m Cajun, I love spicy but he doesn’t. The ambiance was lovely. The service was prompt but not invasive. Our waitress directed my husband away from a spicy choice to a less spicy one and he loved it. Wine, beer and full bar. Just south of French-brown flooring on Greenville. We will be back for sure!

Tradition was really fun, chill and a relaxing atmosphere. AMAZING food. Our server was very kind and helpful for our first ever experience eating Ethiopian food. Everything we ordered was so tasty, we ordered Zil Zil Tibs and the vegetarian sampler. The restaurant feels like you stepped into Mom's kitchen. A hot cup of cinnamon/ginger tea was a cozy way to end the meal.

K
Kathy Palka

Great service with authentic Ethiopian cuisine. The order was very quickly executed and the display and variety of the platter for 2 provided enough for a large take home box for another meal. We tasted each item and they all had distinct differences in flavor and texture. To be honest I was apprehensive about the level of spice or menu offerings and was pleasantly surprised. I recommend this place even for the faint of heart who has trouble with exploring new cultural foods. I loved the foods and will definitely go back again. Try it, you may love it.

I love Ethiopian food and am so glad that my husband came across Yenat—this place is phenomenal. We went on a Friday night and ordered the veggie plate for one, Doro Wot, and Yebeg Tibs. Everything was so good and flavorful—even down to the salad that comes on the veggie plate. The sauce on the Doro Wot is what my dreams are made of. The lamb was really flavorful as well. The vegetables were so good. Really there was nothing that was not exceptional on our plate. I also ordered the ginger tea, which they make with fresh ginger and it was so good that I ordered an additional cup to go! I also loved the ambiance, service, and overall experience. I appreciate that they stay true to Ethiopian culture. We will definitely come back

Oh we will be back for sure. As a vegan couple, being able to walk into a restaurant and be served a large platter of selections is heaven. We ordered veggie platter for two and was not disappointed. Quick service, friendly staff, clean restrooms, plenty of parking. Hard to see from the street, just follow your sense of smell which will be overloaded with delicious aroma. Devine!

Great tasting Ethiopian food in a cozy, tastefully decorated place, with ample parking. I’d go back for the toasted injera rolls with spiced Berbere butter. So good! We also got the vegetarian platter which let us sample all of the restaurant’s vegetarian options. Rounded it all off with some great coffee. Quick, friendly service. Definitely recommend.

The food is amazing! If you’re Mexican you’ll definitely enjoy Ethiopian food. We share similar spices so the food tastes familiar. The portions are big. Been here twice usually during the day so it quieter and less people but at night the place can fill up a the environment is very lively and fun. I recommend the vegetarian platter and beef or lamb.

Delicious Ethiopia food! If you are in the hunt for the best Ethiopian food in DFW you just found it! We stopped in and were seated immediately by the very kind server. We ordered the Zil Zil Tibs which were tender and had great flavor with just the right amount of spice. We also had the Vegetable Combo which was great with all of the options being excellent. The restaurant is very clean and inviting and with the trip no matter where you are in town. Highly Reccommended!

📍Yenat Guada Ethiopian Cuisine -- Dallas, TX with My Friend! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Yenat Guada is an authentic Ethiopian restaurant off Greenville Ave. in Dallas! We ordered the Vegetable Combo for two (My friend is very supportive of my vegan/ vegetarian journey! 🥰) It's a combination of house vegetable dishes which included: Red Lentil Stew (which was my fave), Split Pea Yellow Stew, Chickpea Stew, Green Lentil Stew, Lightly cooked Collard Greens and Red Cabbage! We ate everything with Injera which is an Ethiopian Flatbread! We also had the Ethiopian style Rice with Marinara Sauce. When I say everything was soooo flavorful and seasoned to perfection!! I actually can't wait to go back lol 😍🌱💯 We also tried their Ginger Tea and Herbal tea as well! #EthiopianFood #Injera #DallasTX #GirlsNight #Ethiopia

The food was absolutely delicious! I loved the atmosphere and felt as if I was not in Texas. The male serve was polite and readily available. I ate my food so fast I forgot to take a picture. I ordered the veggie combo for 1. It was definitely enough for two light eaters. I gave a whole meal to take home. The lamb was flavorful and tender.

This little place is the best kept secret on upper Greenville! It may look a little rough when you first pull in, but it is a beautiful restaurant inside and the food AND SERVICE are outstanding! My dining companion and I arrived at an off time, and we were the only customers in the place. That was a lucky turn of events because we had a wonderful conversation about the food with the gentleman who was our server. He was exceedingly knowledgeable about the menu and it was the first time for each of us to have Ethiopian food. We ordered the vegetable combo and a spicy beef gravy dish called the Zil Zil Tibs. Here’s the thing: there are No utensils; instead you scoop the food up with stretchy, spongy, absorbent bread that gloms it up. The presentation was beautiful, the portions were huge, and the food was simply delicious! I don’t have a vocabulary to accurately describe the flavors, but everything was wonderful! Wow! I could eat some more right now! Highly recommend!!

This place is one of my favorite, go-to restaurants for Ethiopian food. When you walk in, the atmosphere is filled with a sweet incense aroma. The service was fast, and our waitress was very kind. The food speaks for itself! Fresh, flavorful, and soo filling. My dad and I shared a veggie platter for 2 with the beef tibs and we still had enough to take home. I will definitely be back.

This spot is legit if you want really good Ethiopian food. The shiro, a chickpea stew, was packed with flavor! Dipping the injera bread in it was a delight. Their shiro is a MUST order if you go. Trust me. The beyaynetu (vegetable combo) was so good. All the different veggies and lentil stews it comes with were amazing. The beef tibs were also great. The Ethiopian coffee was also good. The only thing I didn’t like was the mango drink. Too sugary and the fresh mango taste doesn’t really come out. The interior is really cool, too! Friendly staff and good service. I will totally be returning here for a second visit at some point to try other items, but I’ll definitely be getting the shiro again! If you want really good Ethiopian food in Dallas, you need to try this spot!

Delicious, fresh, huge portions and full bar! The the house special ribs are heavenly and come sizzling to your table which is a fun experience. The meats are perfectly medium rare cooked or raw tartar style (Ethiopian sushi) and delightful. The house ribs are sourced fresh as possible and vary in size from the market availability so I’d say the menu price can be expected as the minimum. The menu is in need of an update but because this restaurant is so genuinely Ethiopian it’s probably a bit of a language barrier to refresh the menu. Off menu you can find a full bar and specialty desserts like tiramisu, cheesecake and chocolate cake.

This was our first visit and first experience with Ethiopian food. We were seated right away, and our server made great recommendations. We enjoyed everything! This was definitely worth the 30-minute drive.

I was a bit hesitant to drive across town to try out this restaurant, but boy am I glad I did! In order to get the full experience, one ought to dine-in here. Apart from the excellent food and service, their ambience is just perfect for that special date night, or a family get together. The place is spotlessly clean (I'm talking of the bathrooms too), has a calm atmosphere, and the food is top notch. You can't go wrong with this place if you want to try Ethiopian food!

What a great place! They are using all the caution possible during the Covid 19. Seating is ample hence its pretty easy to maintain social distance and eat peacefully. Customer service is warm and pleasant. The food's portions are big enough for sharing! We ordered the vegetarian platter for 2 but our family of 4 (2 kids) ate easily. The food was delicious with every item having its own distinctive flavor. Pretty pleased!

Genuinely like this place. Not the best we have ever had but solidly good. Usually pretty empty so the service is quick. The portions are big enough we usually bring some home. A very enjoyable meal every time we come. The do need to turn the AC up a bit though. Gets a tad warm on some nights.

I loved their food. I ordered twic e from this place to go. When I went there, I saw it was more or less a one man show. The person taking the order is also the person cooking the food, the cashier, the bartender etc... Surprisingly, the food tastes so good!! I was also told that sometimes there is someone else working as a waitress. But my experience is the both times I went there it was a one man show. But I will surely return. Not many patrons so my food didn't take time. I wonder how it will be if a lot of people happened to be there. Sad that you have to pay ahead if you call to order. I think they were at a disadvantage with bad experience with people not showing up after placing orders.

The food here tastes delicious—it’s also clean and didn’t hurt our stomachs! This is probably the best Ethiopian restaurant we’ve tried in Texas! The bathrooms were decent, not too bad. The price wasn’t that high. The service is kinda slow, but it was over all a great experience. I definitely recommend it!!

My server was excellent. She was kind and attentive. I couldn't get over paying $20.00 for one chicken leg and an old egg. I was told that it takes 10 hours to make the sauce. The cabbage was perfect!!!! Next time I'm only eating veggies.

Some friends wanted to meet up after a few years apart, they found this spot and I will never refuse Ethiopian food. It was not easy to spot from the road, so make sure to not miss it. It was pretty empty when we went for a late lunch, but the staff were super friendly and quick, the interior was nice, as well. The yemisir wat was not as spicy as I usually like, but the gomen was done perfectly. Not a bad intro for anyone that has not had Ethiopian before.

I usually head farther north when the craving for Ethiopian food hits, but since I was nearby, I decided to give this spot a try. It was… fine. Decent, but not memorable. I may be a little spoiled by the incredible Ethiopian restaurants I’ve frequented in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and my reliable go-to in Richardson. The flavors here felt muted, as if my request for medium heat took a detour and ended up at mild. Still, the experience wasn’t unpleasant—just a reminder that some cravings are best satisfied where the spices tell their full story.

Visiting the restaurant after almost nine years. Tried Doro Wot and Lamb Tibs with injera. The flavors were ok and the difference in the quality was evident. The restaurant is spacious and well maintained. Plenty of parking is available. Service was fine with a few misses. They have a full bar with Ethiopian Honey Wine, which is a specialty. Pricing : Moderate

I use to love this place a lot but some things turned me off today, 1. we walk in, there were a few waiters who looked at us, we eventually picked a seat ourselves and the waiter brought us the menu. a few minutes later, few people show up and this time the waiters where happy, smiling and walked the new guests and sat them down with menus. It happened to most of the people that waked in, they were welcomed very cheerfully. Based on my observation, there is clear bias toward certain people. 2. I really wanted to have a conversation with my family while I was eating, it was difficult to hear one another because there was a band playing jazz, loud!!, I wish I had a powerful remote to mute them lol jk they were good, but it was too loud. 3, The quality of the food really dropped. This use to be my favorite spot to eat and I also recommend a lot of people to this place, after this experience not sure I would recommend it that much.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant several times over the past two years, but the food quality has noticeably declined. They frequently don’t have many items from the menu available. Two months ago, I ordered the shiro wot, and it was very watery and lacked flavor. Despite this, we decided to drive half an hour from Dallas to eat here again, as it’s the closest open Ethiopian restaurant. We arrived at 9:01 PM, even though Google listed their closing time as 10:00 PM. However, when we walked in, the lady informed us that the kitchen was already closed. When I pointed out their listed closing time, she replied that the kitchen actually closes at 9. We were literally one minute late! Even after explaining that we had driven half an hour to get there, she was indifferent and just walked away.

On Jan 24/2022 at 8:30pm I place order Fish Gulash Togo. The fish is not well done the sauce made with straight up with walmart spaghetti sauce with out any spices not even have small amount ethiopian culture spice called Berbere. Test so horrible 😫. I have called them to let them know no answer here is some pictures. I'm very disappointed 😞

We are Ethiopian This is not Ethiopian food,I don’t know where they came with food. Food was not real good and tasted funny. Also unfair price . I hope they will do better next time for someone else. #upgreadechiefu#loveethiopia

I went on a Saturday night and just did not have a good experience. I ordered beef ribs with a salad. Salad was good, On the menu price for beef ribs was 18.99, But the waitress told me That today the ribs were 26.99. This was not on the menu. The beef ribs were absolutely disgusting, I asked if I could switch out the food or get something else, The waitress Said I will be charged for both the ribs and whatever else I get. I kept it cool and classy. I basically paid $31 to eat a salad and drink ginger tea. Poor Customer service, Was not trying to accommodate at all! I do not recommend this restaurant!

Literally the worst Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. The dishes tasted spoiled and had a sour, unpleasant smell that made it hard to eat. Nothing tasted fresh, and the flavors were completely off — it honestly felt like the food had been sitting out for days. I was really disappointed because I love Ethiopian cuisine, but this experience completely missed the mark.

First time eating Ethiopian food Ordered the Doro wat. They gave me 1 chicken drumstick and an egg. And wouldn’t let me order any extra meat. I would say frustrated is an understatement but disappointed in this African restaurant would be a better description. I’m Ghanaian and was really stoked to try the food. Pretty sad about it. Service was horrible. Never even asked if I’ve tried their food before. Took 35 minutes to get water. A Habesha family next to me even expressed their frustration at the presentation and lack of meat. And weirdly apologized on your behalf. I’m non confrontational and this took everything out of me not to bitterly complain. Please do better. We all came to America to do well for ourselves so every customer counts! I will not be returning. 🥹
