A favorite when we are in The City. The old Mexico feel is what sets it apart. This is a wonderful place to take friends after you pick up at SFO. About 10 minutes.
Muy Authentica!!!...Excellent Cusine de Mexico 🇲🇽 KEEP UP ALL THE GOOD TEAMWORK in running this establishment, My Beloved Chefs & Wait-staff!!!!....
I go there all the time for my fix for Mexican food. I usually order a double Margarita rocks no salt when the waiter showed up my table he brought a single and a shot at tequila I go as just a double he goes yeah I looked at my bill it charged me for both.
I came here to meet me with an Old friend, and we had a nice time The food was excellent service was awesome , very highly recommended
We met friends at Original Joes for dinner. The bar was crowded but had good quick service. We were able to get a table in a few minutes around 5:30. Service was good and our waiter knew the menu very well. It's primarily Italian food, so it's no wonder that my eggplant parmigiana was very tasty. The portions were large
Large portions of consistently good Mexican food. Endless chips and salsa (rare these days). Friendly servers and a delightful faux Mexican hacienda dining room make the place fun. Lots of TVs in the bar for watching sports if you don't want to be in the dining room.
The service was great, and the food was excellent. Came out nice and hot. The staff members were great and always made sure my wife and I were satisfied. I recommend 👌
Sat in the bar, happen to go during their happy hour, which is always nice to catch. Had their house margarita. It was delicious! Would've had two but I was driving! Atmosphere was very cozy, very lively, also a Friday @ 5pm. Staff was very friendly.
Great place for lunch. The food is amazing and very well priced. I love their complimentary salsa and chips. The salsa is a unique recipe. The service is very fast, and they will get you in and out very quickly. The main courses can be heavy. Cheese is definitely not used sparingly. It is a good place for a conversation.
Employees go above and beyond to provide a consistent experience. The food is not the greatest (if you are a regular, you know this by now). House Margaritas are fantastic, generally they have a heavier pour. It can be difficult getting ahold of the restaurant on weekends or the evenings. I’ve had to wait 10-40 minutes for a table on Friday nights but generally don’t have to wait most weeknights. Servers are bilingual, they are multilevel, offer a separate bar area and offer outdoor seating. This place is gigantic.
Great place had a blast went there to eat after my best friend got married. Great service everyone was terrific. Food was great drinks were great everything came quickly chips and salsa were good great place to be and hang out. They even took pics for us. Amazing place.
Good food we had a large party so it took some time to get our food but as expected for a large party
The service is fantastic and the Chicken Enchiladas are scrumptious. Comfortable atmosphere laid back, with big TVs for sports.
Celia's is a wonderful family oriented Mexican restaurant with delicious food and drinks! I enjoyed a top shelf Margarita and a two enchilada meal.... Talk about delicious! I wanted to go back and thank everyone personally. You will not be disappointed. I ordered online and the food was ready at the exact appointed time. My drink wasn't watered down. Just yummy with good customer service! Thanks
So, we haven't been here for a while and remembered from the last time that the food was very good. We tend to go to Chevy's, but we always think the food here is more authentic and better. Parking can be hard even with the large parking lots all around. Anyway, we went on Friday night and although it was crowded they sat us right away. That is one thing we also like about this restaurant, no matter how busy a night can be they seem to always have space. Anyway, our waiter was great. We had 2 drinks and 2 entrees, one with prawns and the super burrito which I highly recommend. Prices are reasonable and food is consistently good. We will go back.
This is my favorite restaurant. The food is to die for here. Food is always delicious & served HOT. We've tried so many plates of food here and ALL are delicious. One of the favs is the Chile Rellanos plate & the Chile Verde plate with beans and rice and salad. They also come with tortillas of your choice. Chips and Chile are served as you wait for your order and drinks can be ordered as well. There is a bar in this place but we never visit the area. There's plenty of seating and the service is kind, respectable and fast. Servers are attentive as well. If you're not a big eater look at the regular plates as they come pretty full as it is. There are small plates as well. If you're a starvin Marvin then go for the Specialty plates, let me give you a heads up, "their Big!" Drinks are good and cold and hot ones are Hot! Restrooms are clean as well. I can't say enough about this place. There's something for everyone here. Wet Burritos, Regular burritos ,Chile Verde, Enchiladas, Crunchy tacos, Rice & Beans, Salad, Steaks, Fajitas, Carnitas, Taquitos, Flautas, Chile Rellanos, Seafood, Carne Asada, that's just to name a few items. It's a must try place! The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing. Lighting is nice and relaxing. I've gone here for our anniversary and also for birthdays. Heads up, they will sing a birthday song upon request and they give the birthday person a Flan dessert. There are t.v's near and at the bar section that you can watch games or other things on. Kids plates are also served. This place also has a patio for outdoor eating right in front. If it's open all the time, that I am not sure of. I give this place a huge 👍👍👍👍👍.
Out for a sanity drive in a hot day with my wife. Found Celia's in a cool spot in the Bay Area. We dined outside in near perfect weather. The entire experience was nearly perfect. Food quality was excellent and the portions were generous. Loved the food and drinks. We're looking forward to our next visit.
Go to when you need a heaping plate full of goodness. Was a favorite spot of my grandmothers and we make it a point to eat there in her honor and memory. Brink a healthy appetite!
Good food and great cocktails.. Oscar, Felipe and Horacio are great servers!
Been attending this splendid fine dining restaurant since diaper days. I can tell you that I love the cuisine and atmosphere. Everything about this place I love it. To anyone that lives in the “BAY AREA” or visiting “SAN FRANCISCO AREA” and really enjoys Mexican food. Attend this place, it will not fail I promise you that.
HAVEN'T MISSED A BEAT YET ALWAYS AIMING TO SATISFY THE CUSTOMER NEEDS AND CHATTER TO BIG PARTY GROUPS I'LL BE THERE DECEMBER 8TH MY BIRTHDAY DAY 🎉🎉😀
This is one of my favorites. The flavor of the meal is yummy. Food is always hot ( with heat) , and it hasn't been sitting in the kitchen long. I've been enjoying the food ever since it was the location for to be El Torito. The servers are always polite, and the portions are good. I really love it sometimes times they have live mariachi band that move around the restaurant for everyone to enjoy. There is plenty of parking, full bar service for those who drink alcohol, and some outdoor seating if you can catch a non foggy day. Can't wait for my next visit.
Dropped in for lunch with a friend. She did fajitas I had Chili Verde really really good. Server was very nice professional and checked on us, made sure everything was good. Would go back in a minute.
My wife has been going here for 20 years. Awesome staff and always amazing food. Pink Cadillac margarita if you want to have a great day. We hosted our baby shower here and highly recommend it for and large group occasions
A great place to eat with friends and family. Heartyty Mexican food. Good service. Seating in bar or in restaurant. Had a good time getting caught up with old friends. Good location. Will be back soon.
I've been to a few of the Celia's locations and this one is my favorite. The food is solid, the service is great, and the atmosphere is fun. On certain nights, they even have a live mariachi band! If you enjoy watching sports, you can sit in the bar area and there are plenty of TVs. I don't think there was a bad view from anywhere you sat in that area. All in all, a great local spot.
We come here all the time - always a great experience. Chips and salsa show up right after you sit down. I had a virgin pina colada because I'm not drinking right now and it was delicious! The virgin margaritas are tasty as well (wife got one). Also got the Perfecto special which is a huge amount of food - I almost never have leftovers but did this time!
Great spot for lunch if you like Mexican food. Their chips and salsa are freshly made, and you can taste it with every bite. We ordered the enchiladas and tacos. Get the enchiladas with carne asada instead of chicken or ground beef. Our server was very attentive to our table despite the restaurant being packed due to several large parties being seated nearby. It was also nice that they have several large screen tvs, so you can watch either football on Sundays or any other sporting events that might be going on at that time. There's plenty of parking all around the restaurant, so that won't be an issue.
Everything we had here was fabulous, starting with the perfect tortilla chips (thin, crispy, and served warm) paired with salsa. My crab enchilada was covered in delicious sauce and cheese, crammed full of real crab, and the sopito was crispy, topped with flavorful, juicy carnitas and guacamole. My SO loved the steak special, and the Spanish rice it came with was notably fantastic, unlike a lot of places where the rice is an afterthought. We got churros with ice cream for dessert, and it was a delightful end to the meal. Service was excellent (masks and gloves worn with plentiful hand sanitizer) and the restaurant is so huge, with outdoor seating available, that it works well for social distancing. Highly recommend it!
Food is good. More authentic than other chains in my opinion. Best salsa hands down, if you like a little bit of heat. Portions are pretty good. This is my go-to Mexican sit down restaurant.
Food was good. Big portions! So you may pay a little more but you get quite a bit. More importantly our server was great! Attentive and great customer service. Good selection of Tequila was also a plus. I'll be back
Portions always feel like theyre great for the price. Food is consistent my family has gone to celias for years now. The only issue that I ever experience is slow service while waiting for food, it can be difficult to flag down a server. I love the space and how they made patio seating and their lower and upper areas are perfectly segmented out for large groups
Food was great but it took a while for our server to come to our table when it wasn't busy. We weren't in any hurry and had a good time visiting with friends, just wished the staff was a little more attentive in the beginning.
I love the home cooked authentic style of Celia's, and the rustic interior feels like Mexico. It's pretty consistent considering it's a chain, and the standard of service is always on point. One of the things I admire about their quality service is that they are almost unnoticeable. They are quick and smooth in meeting your requests and do not draw any attention to themselves.
Food was surprisingly good. Very flavorful and fresh. I didn't expect the fajitas to be that big of a meal. It's enough for two people easy. I'll definitely have to come back. The wait staff was really nice very helpful very polite. A couple modelos steaming plate of fajitas flautas enchilada plate all fresh and good plus all the sides.
Food is ok not great but decent servings busy place service is ok
Been going here for 10+ years. Service is pretty good here, I like the paintings on the walls, has a cozy vibe, and the food is overall decent. The Cancun platter is the best thing here. I’ve tried some of their other items and it’s decent but nothing beats the Cancun platter. They could definitely use improvement on their other dishes. The food is pretty expensive so we don’t go very often. Overall a good local Mexican restaurant that we will continue to go to for special occasions.
I have been a fan of Celias for over 40 years. I' ve been to several locations with varied experiences. This visit: Our booth seats were worn and cracked. There were food crumbs from the previous diners on the seats. The salsa and hot chips were excellent. The rice and beans are always on point. My enchilada was so-so. My pork tamale was not fresh. I did not enjoy it. The Cole slaw was off. Not tangy like it used to be. I will probably keep coming here out of habit. It's the only Mexican food I trust. I will choose my entree more carefully. My daughter enjoyed her wet bean burrito with green sauce.
We came in for a pre-dinner drink a little after 6pm. Just missed their happy hour. However, our server was kind enough to accommodate us with the happy hour menu. Thank you! Ordered a house margarita and a sampler plate. Did not know that their appetizer plate could count as an entire meal, it is HUGE. We ended up skipping dinner after that visit :) Cesar the bartender is also as nice as all reviewers say.
A solid 4* spot. Big, old, huge portions, lack of alcohol in drinks, TVs to watch sports...dirty toilets. Good place to meet with friends. A bit overpriced IMHO.
Closest Cal-Mex to Tex-Mex that we have had, which is yummy. Great outdoor seating area. Be careful of the drinks with no prices on them though. We got the super margaritas, which are decent sized (like a regular margarita in Texas) but cost more than a whole meal! Price transparency would be appreciated.
It's a solid Mexican family style restaurant. The main dining area has lovely seasonally decorated high ceilings. To the side is a dedicated bar area that seems to always have some livelyness. The other side of the dining area is a two levels of large tables that I have used as a rental area before. The catering experience left much to be desired in terms of service and food volume but what we had was quite good. In case you are wondering the pork tamale's are ok but nothing to write home about and the same can be said of the guacamole. The red sauce is pleasant without being overly spicy so if you like it hot let them know.
Went on a Friday night with friends. Plenty of seating here. Stopped at the bar for drinks first. The top shelf margarita is strong! I really enjoyed it. Didn't have to wait long for a table and the server's were very attentive.
Great lil spot. Food was really good. I enjoyed it.
Excellent margaritas and good hot wings. I just wish everything wasn't so salty. One time I went on a Sunday night and they were out of rice.
Good service and atmosphere of the restaurant, but the portions of the food and its prices did feel quite disappointing to me and my family when we ate there for my uncle's belated birthday yesterday, unfortunately.
The location of this resto might be off for those who are not local but its been there for a while. The inside of the restaurant is like Encanto the Disney come to life. A very Mexican vibe. The food is ok and the unlimited chips and salsa is always a good thing. The frozen Margarita though is like a smoothie that made me really full. Price is reasonable and the resto has been a staple so you can't go wrong.
At first glance from the outside, it may not seem like Celia's is a happening place, kinda tucked away in the corner of the lot. But once you step inside, you are greeted by vibrant colors and decor that makes it seem like you were transported to a different world. The menu focuses on traditional Mexican cuisine, although they do offer some "North of the Border" choices like steak and burgers if you want to go that route. I went with the Super Special, which comes with a taco, chile relleno, enchilada, burrito, and rice and beans. I was genuinely surprised by how big the portions were and definitely had to take some leftovers home. I left very full and very satisfied. Service was great as well. Muchas gracias, Celia's!
Good for big groups. All the tables are spaced well. They have a good selection of tequila and a knowledgeable staff that will help you make the right choice. It’s a great place if you’re getting drinks. They have margarita pictures. The food was OK. They do this thing with some of their spicy foods where there is some sweet component which I personally dislike. The free chips and salsa were great.
The colors on the interior are bright and fun and the décor is really unique featuring Spanish-style decorations, hand-painted murals, and vaulted, cathedral-style ceilings. The drinks are really tasty and unique and the food is really good. Not necessarily authentic, but really tasty. They speak both Spanish and English, but the menu is only in English (I wish it was in both languages...) The only negative thing I can say is that sometimes you wait a long time for your waiter or waitress to come to your table when you want to order or pay. I would definitely recommend this place. It's empty during the day and relatively full at night, but there is never a wait. A lot of people come here to celebrate birthdays, and the employees sing to you.
Really good food!!! I've tried everything and it is amazing and pretty fast. But service itself lousy, the waitress gave us water, took our order, brought the food & never came back. We had to ask for our check twice before finally getting it on the third try
Regarding a 4/27/18 dinner: We we're seated almost right away but 20+ minutes had passed by and no server came to check on us. The bus boys did a better job of getting us water and chips. We had to ask another server for service and he told our server that we were in her section. She only took our food order and didn't bother to ask if we wanted drinks. I then spoke to the manager to make the comment about the bad service and wait. The manager took care of us and is the reason why this review is 3 stars instead of 1. The manager tried to comp our drinks but we refused as we came to pay what's fair. The food is great but that server should be let go especially if the same manager said that she's not doing a good job.
Cute place! Had a large party with buffet dinner that was ok. But, had to walk to the bar to order our cocktails.
We were there to celebrate a birthday, event though we were only 5 people they added the gratuity of 18% at the end of the bill. Our bill was 267.90$, the only drinks were 3 coffees at the end, my plate was some type of shrimps for $26.90. They were ok, must of the place was Mexican rice, lettuces, one slice of tomate and some guacamole, and 6-7 shrimps. I don’t understand why a simple plate with must of vegetables and rice cost $27.00. I do understand the lost of $$$$ during CoVID but …. It’s too expensive and poor quality. We are not returning!
Fri. Sept 16, 2022: had the crab enchiladas, very odd tasting. Did not taste at all like crab and had a mushed consistency.... The sides of black beans and rice were fine, appreciated that they were not greasy or oversalted. Liked the chips and salsa. Pitcher of house Margaritas was very good, and churros with vanilla ice cream were delicious as churros were hot and crunchy and not greasy or overly sweet. Service was great as the staff was patient with our large group and the food arrived in a timely manner.Am willing to try them again and order a different entree and see if i can revise my initial impressions.
Lovely interiors. I have to say, even with inflation the quality doesn’t match the cost.I had the crab enchiladas, pretty much the top of their line, and crab is crab, but the whole plate was a little watery and unattractive. The waiter was attentive, but listen: My wife and I knew what we wanted and ordered before dinner drinks and the entrees together. Boom! Our entrees arrived almost immediately, but without the drinks, and our table mates had not even decided what to order yet! When I asked about our drinks he said, “Oh, yes. I have to get them from the bar.” “Well!?” Embarrassing.
Nachos were meh. Tostada was good, but overpriced. Server took very good care of our large group
I love this place, the food is expensive but it's worth it for the large and I mean large! Portions they give you. As much as I love this place I can't give it higher than 3 stars because my visits there have been a hit or miss with the service and the food. I love going to Mexican restaurants for their salsa's, but this place you can taste the tin the tomatoes came out of, sometimes it has too much garlic. Same goes for their overpriced guacamole, they bring a tiny portion for $10 and it over powered with garlic. It's these minor things that prevents me from giving this place a 4 star ratings.
I went there for a birthday celebration. I grew up coming to the restaurant and have always loved the food and drinks. I've never had a bad experience there. However, last Saturday, it was so hot inside that I couldn't enjoy my food or drink. I kept asking the employees to open the side door because it was so hot - it felt like a sauna in there. I couldn't wait to go home. I initially thought I was having a hot flash, but other customers were also complaining about the high temperature of the restaurant in the bathroom.
Went there late afternoon for a togo order, hostess at the counter was abit stand offish, and didn't seem very interested in helping me. Order turned out okay. The place has definitely seen better days. All in all okay, the atmosphere was a total bummer, probably related to the dead end location. I'd pass, and go down the street to Serranonte, just sayin.
Fast service, a little dated on the inside but an all around good experience
It took so long to be sat and for them to take our orders though it wasn’t busy + food was mid
Went there for drinks and happy hour. Overall kinda disappointing for what it used to be. Bar area was cramped and busy with one bartender trying his best to cover the tables and bar. Drinks were fine and the cost of what you would expect for a chain.
I came here for a baby shower. You arrive and are thinking where is my GPS taking me. You park and enter the restaurant. It is multi levels with large space for groups. It was pretty popular. The service was slow and we were watching each other each because food came out at random times. Also get your drink and forget refills. The cheese use for cheese enchiladas seemed like American. Aka not the biggest fan. It wasn't horrible just not the best Mexican ever.
Don't know of any Mexican restaurant that does not give a small complimentary salsa. Daly City does not, the other ones do. For a $30 plate, they could have thrown it in...yet if you sit down you get all you can eat salsa. Kind of weird. Food is great, but policy isn't.
Seriously overpriced. Two adults and one child. We were seated in the back of the bar. Not until after our meal did I realize there was an additional beautiful restaurant section. We had two drinks and shared the appetizer sampler and our bill was almost $75. Extremely disappointed.
It’s a nice facility and the staff is friendly. However, the food is absolutely bland and not cooked properly. Google has them at 4.1/5 so I was shocked when I ate here. Yelp has them at 2.5/5 which is certainly more accurate imho.
Definitely not the greatest experience here. I had a party of 25 people they set a table for us of about 12 and didn't realize we needed more chairs until after we all sat down. Which made it very inconvenient in mildly. Embarrassing to have to add new tables to the middle of the restaurant. It was so disorganized how they were taking our order, Also. We didn't know who our waiter was because it was so many helping us. They managed to get a lot of the order is wrong. I ordered a tostada salad and my plate and food came scorching-hot. I'm not sure why this was But the tostada to my salad was on the Bottom of Everything super soggy, they put wet Chicken on top and then through about two cups of just lettuce. To top it off. It was not the greatest experience, The food was very mediocre, and I would never return here ever again.
I ordered the meat only (chicken) burrito plate with rice and beans. The chicken had an "off" taste to it. After the 2nd bite I ended up paying and leaving. I don't think the chicken was fresh.
The service is okay they get your order fine but I have to beg them to get my check and even like that none of them bother to take my card a d charge me ! I guess they because they always empty and they want people in but that’s such a way to lose clientele. I accidentally left my card I guess and none of the 3-5 people working in the bother to let me know , I give them 2 stars cause the prices are expensive more than San Francisco and not a great quality and terrible service as if they don’t want you t ok come back and I am Latino myself!! So disappointed..
The food is awful! My husband and I have been coming here for years and at first the food was tolerable/ good enough to get the job done, if you will. But MAN! Did this place go down in quality. I ordered what I thought was gonna be tortilla soup and what I got was a giant bowl of gigantic cut carrots, chicken and potatoes piled up high above the rim of the bowl with the tiniest drizzle of juice 🤯😒. The most disgusting flavored chicken I've ever tasted! 🤮 No! Never again!!
If I was eating on just the service, it would be a 1 star. Our waitress was impersonal, very very slow, and couldn't answer basic menu questions. I even asked if she was new (to give the benefit of the doubt) and she said no. I liked the salsa but my husband and daughter didn't. My daughter liked her kids meal enchilada but my husband said his enchiladas were okay. Nothing great but not bad. The top layer of my fajitas were delicious but anything touching the skillet plate was burnt. Corn tortillas were good. I really wanted to like this place but simply didn't. We probably won't be back, unfortunately.
Got the chicken fajita, and there was almost no chicken in it. The food needed more seasoning, not very authentic menu, when I asked for hotter salsa, they just put a bunch of bottled hot sauce in their normal tomato salsa. We sat upstairs and the staff almost never checked up on us. We needed to get up and try to find the staff on multiple occasions. When we were leaving we saw 5 or 6 workers hanging out downstairs laughing and joking together, which would have been nice to have their help upstairs. Pros: the restaurant is very beautiful and the margaritas were really good.
This was a very disappointing experience. Not only was the food subpar for Mexican food in CA, the service was poor. Slow, uninterested waitress. We almost felt like we were imposing on her night. Now, I will say this, we were a group of 8 and came in towards closing....but, being in the restaurant scene myself a few years back, that attitude is unacceptable. All I can say about the food was that it wasn't the least bit memorable. Lacki,g in flavor. And....what we paid for this food was not comparable to our experience or the quality of food....approx. $300.
I only went here because my in-laws insisted on eating here. They have memories tied to this place. I ordered a salad. There are better places in San Francisco to get fresh authentic Mexican food
Food tasted alright depending on what you get it will taste like canned/frozen food. Prices are high considering the flavor isn’t there. Food also made me very sick as I’m writing this at 1 am not knowing if I’m going to throw up anymore. Overall very disappointing I ordered the mole enchiladas
Visit twice a week the service was good until I got a wrong drink I told the waiter he rudely got my glass and said I will make another finished my food and no body went back to take care of me I got up paid and the person at register said you got 2 drinks which I never did or even got one. So I paid only for my food said never coming back. I like good food but the main reason I go it's for great customer service at celias if you Tip good which I always do! You are the best customer otherwise they don't take care of you and keep ignoring until they feel like taking the order
Took forever to get any service. Served my meal fast but was missing the rice I asked for. My son's meal came long after my meal was cold. We had to find our waiter to ask what was going on. The butter we asked for 4 times never came. The cole slaw had zero flavor. Not marinated at all like the Peninsula and 92 location.
I love this place! However tonight I came in with my family before closing at 830pm and the gentlemen greeting said they are closed. Not only was the attitude on the short almost rude side, they were still open! Come on Daly City Celia please make this right. Our family loves coming here. But I will not come back if no one reaches out. Thank you
We paid alot of money to reserve this place for an event. We got their early and the party area was setup and ready to go. We noticed all the food trays were full but the party was not starting for an hour and a half. We planned to go in the bar and wait for the party to arrive. We were allowed to sit in the party area early and when people arrived they flipped the tops open and we ate. The food was bland and when I got home I had a very bad stomach ache.
I went to the bar for happy hours however they do not have any happy hour especials, the Celia's platter that I ordered was almost $22.00 it was mostly chips, the margarita barely had any liquor is a ripped off. I usually go to Chevys and they have a lot of especials for happy hours.
The blonde long hair waitress is so disgusting and disrespectful was all flirting with my husband. Will never return to this place again also letting everyone i know about my experience tiktok perhaps
The new manager (Fernando), the bald guy that walks around like he owns the place is destroying the atmosphere and feel of Celia’s. This used to be my favorite place to go. Split some apps and margs with the girls!! The last time I was there I spent like $20 on the juke box, he turned it off bc we were having a good time. We weren’t being loud or annoying or anything like that. Before this guy popped up we used to listen to fun beats and dance in the bar area. I do want to shine a light on the bartender/wait staff. Cesar, Erica and Raul are amazing staff. So nice and very professional. They really make the space feel welcoming and make some of the best drinks!
