UPDATED: The original Salas Burgers are back and they are amazing. These are very affordable and delicious burgers, would highly recommend them. Very distinct flavor burgers and the pride of the town. COVID RESTRICTIONS: The resturaunt is not currently open to dine-in, but has all the measures to safely and efficiently order and pick up food without exiting your vehicle! Salas Better Burger has always been a consistent and Iconic local joint. However recently, in the past few days, they have switched the meat patty they use in their burgers. It may because COVID affected the logistics and transportation of their regular meat supplies, or the current meat shortage, but it is a very noticable difference, visually and to the taste. I hope that this is only temporary. These substitute patties do not have the signature Salas flavor and resemble a 'school lunch' burger more than anything. Otherwise, when Salas brings the regular patties back or in stock, they will be 5 stars again.

The meat used for the burger patties is exremely delicious even better than most homemade burgers. The fries are thick and food is always hot. Great place for hungry people.

Been wanting to try these burgers for a while now. Have some buddies that always talk about how good they are. Let me tell you something.... skip any fast food joint and hit up this place! 💯 I drove from Eagle Pass to Del Rio, just for the burger.

We got a triple with everything and bacon, and a double with everything and bacon. They are sooooo delicious. The bacon is one of the kind I like, cook to perfection. It is it too chewy, and not too crispy, just perfectly cooked and added a great texture and layer of flavor. The need petite are season really well. They are juicy and fresh. The curly fries are a little too much seasoned for me so it was on a salty side. But their seasoning is good. Overall, very delicious burgers. So glad we stopped by!

Lovely little gem! I love the old school feel of the place, you can tell its been there forever! The food was great, and hot! The French fries are HUGE! I love that. The only thing is they are sooo busy, we felt like we didnt have enough time to really decide, we just rushed it. I recommend checking out the menu before coming in, but I do recommend this place! Literally whataburger with big fries. As the story goes, the owner used to work for Whataburger years ago. He ventures out on his own and starts his own burger joint. I've heard the story for years but never been by. I went a couple of nights ago and seriously, if you had blindfolded me, i could swear their burgers were Whataburger. That being said, they're good burgers... Of you like Whataburger, you'll like these. They're curly fries are very good and their regular fries are FAT. They'll ask if you like extra crispy, i recommend that because they're so big. If you like Whataburger you'll like this place..i think their prices are actually a bit better.

This was our first trip to Salas after someone told us we needed to try it. Salas Better Burger truly lives up to their name! The burgers are juicy and delicious! The ribeye burger, which was less than $12 for the combo, was delicious with onions and mushrooms. We ordered the fries, curly fries, and onion rings. Our favorite ended up being the fries! The employee that helped us order was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and selections. There was plenty of seating around the time we got there, probably around 2 pm, but they did start getting busy as we were finishing up. Our order took about as long as it takes for line service to get to our table. We'll definitely be back!

I have to stop here every time I visit Del Rio. The servers are easy to talk to polite and respectful. Food came out quickly hot and all together no waiting for anyone's food. And always tast great The shop is small cozy mom and pop type restaurant. Relaxing and quiet with not a hole lot going on.

Salas Better Burger has the juiciest hamburger in Del Rio,TX. When we are in Del Rio , Salas Better Burger is the first place my son wants to go. The aroma of fresh hamburger meat cooking at the grill just makes you hungry even when your full.

Busy, popular, well-run, inexpensive burger joint. If you want to get fancy, try the ribeye burger. Patties are cooked through, so the fixings need for moisture. Folks recommend a jalapeño. Order in advance for pickup.

I had the junior burger and was pleasantly surprised because it was HUGE. Old fashioned burger and great curly fries. My only complaint would be the people working there looked so unhappy. A smile goes a long way.

So far this place is 3.75 stars out of 5 stars. Location 4 stars. I took my order to go. Enough parking, open space inside place was chill not hot specially with all this heat. Place was empty. Customer service 4 stars. Person took my order over phone was nice but did miss double cheese. Person at register no concerns. Little bit chat or smile would have make it better. Food 3.5 stars. Disappointed in portion size of large fries. Fresh cut fries are always better, that what we had. I was told later from coworker they have a jumbo serving. Burgers don't look appetizing due to lettuce. Also meat was dry over cooked. I am sure that can we fixed by requesting medium rare. Yes, i will visit this place again. I would love to try onion Rings.

If you're looking for a competitive price to McDonald's or other burger places, this is your dig, but don't expect too much seasoning or anything. The burgers are flat just like most fast food joints.

At SBB they serve burgers and not much else, though it's not necessarily a bad thing - speciality usually produces a superior product. Located South of the train tracks in downtown Del Rio, this burger joint is as understated as you can get - a small little building on the corner with some booths inside and some tables outside; it possesses that greasy atmosphere that lets you know that all diets need to abandon all hope once passing through the door. Upon ordering one of their titular "better burgers", I was presented with a thin, flat patty of no more than 2-3 oz on a plain white bun. The meat was juicy and just a little crispy around the edges - a very nice thing, indeed. Topping the burger was a couple of roma tomato slices and chopped lettuce and onions. A slice of American cheese also adorned my bun. For my side I enjoyed what was possibly the crunchiest onion rings I have ever put in my mouth. I doubt they were homemade, but at the very least they were well-cooked. I wanted to like SBB more than I did - several recommendations from friends combined with the local atmosphere of downtown Del Rio made me excited to find another great local eatery, but when it comes down to it, the product was very ordinary - aside from the adept use of the grill, the burger was more similar to what I would expect to get at a cookout, not a restaurant, right on down to the Wal-Mart napkins they put into your take-out bag. It's good, but I think there are other, better burgers to be had in Del Rio.

If you want a quick home style burger and fries for lunch, this is the place to get it. Prices are good too. -1 for facilities (outdoor restrooms) and very limited seating, but I think most of their orders are takeout. -1 fries are usually a little too soggy/greasy for me. But hey, I keep going back - it's good! If you're going for takeout and not dining in, consider this a 4 star review.

This place is one of the iconic "food joints" in Del Rio. The locals love the burgers and tacos. Ordering by phone can be a hassle at times and does require a lot of patience. The taste is a hit or miss at times, as the place has changed. They serve Pepsi products which is great. It's not quite how the locals remember when the burgers were nice and meaty; yet, when it's done right, you'll be glad you stopped by.

When I heard Salas was the best burgers in town, I was expecting nice big juicy burgers cooked to order. What I got was essentially fast food. If you're looking for burgers cooked to temp, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for something relatively cheap and tastes alright, this is it. Not a bad place, but really not what I was expecting. Also, just a heads up, the chili fries were really salty. The service seemed friendly enough and they got all our order preferences correct. So that was nice.

This place makes your food to order which is great however it's pretty greasy. It's redeeming qualities it's soda bar which you can add flavors to and I always get orange soda with vanilla. The prices are okay they are about on par with Sonic or McDonald's.

The fries were like they were dipped in water, the burger bun was burned, and they were slow making it. The burger was edible at least.

We went here on our way by going to San Antonio because the ratings are good and we like to go to local places. We get burgers, fish sandwiches, fries, and onion rings. The burgers were dry, the fish tasteless, the fries flacid, and the onion rings crispy but greasy. The place needs fresh paint, scrape the old paint off the windows, and a good cleaning.

Order my food over the phone and no customer service at all. The guy on the phone seemed to not care. My order was a double meat with cheese with mayo and no onions. I thought lettuce and tomatoes and pickles came on the burger, I guess you have to let them know. This was what I came home too. Do better please.

the burger does not look anything like the photos with some tiny patties that are definitely not made in house, tastes good but not great. the customer service is awful. no greeting, just stared at us with a pen in hand waiting to write the order down. nasty,dirty tables, i asked for some napkins to clean it myself and they cleaned it with a nasty attitude. steer clear.

Waited over 15min. I called to place my order girl said 10min. We got there and they asked us what our order was again. They didn't even give us the correct fries. We assumed maybe we would get something free or a discount because we waited so long and didn't even get the right order... Nothing. They lost "the" touch. The burgers no longer have a distinct taste. They are bland to taste and the bread was half hard. It's better to have a Sonic burger or the never failing Whataburger. I'm not mad, just disappointed. I will not be going back for seconds.

Disappointing in this place it used to be a great place to eat but recently orders have gone wrong and when asking for a redue because I live far to take back would be to cold they refuse only want to cook the toppings pending and add to cold burger . I use to enjoy this place but manager is not doing right thing for local customers.

Really disappointing burger. The tomato was thicker than the patty. I added cheese, and that was the smallest single slice of cheese I've ever seen. Curly fries were cold. It's really dirty inside. Don't let the old photos fool you like they did me. Parking sucks too. Be careful you don't pop a tire.

This place has severely gone downhill. Never giving them my business again. The patty is half the size of the bun. Every single item in our order was incorrect. We only ordered 3 burgers. All the added ingredients were not added but charged. And things we asked to be removed were added. The employees there are absolutely ridiculous, immature and extremely unhelpful. What a shame and embarrassment of a longtime establishment.

Horrible customer service 4 people just standing around in that square box and none of them great you with a hello they just look at you and say “Yes” and tell you your order is not ready while your forced to stand around in that awkward design entrance area. They also forgot to put the slice jalapeño which I was charged asked for extra ketchup and was only given 2 packets. For two double burgers and two jumbo fries it was $25 no drinks. Extremely overpriced. Better off going to Chili’s or Whataburger.
