Recensioni di Dix Coney Island Denton
Menu options are pretty good, really nicely surprised they served breakfast all day long. Location is in downtown Denton which is nice, building is old which to be expected but needs some good cleaning. Service was outstanding, however I am personally wasn’t impressed with the food. It wasn’t bad but I just didn’t enjoy it much, but again it just my personal opinion.
Ate here for the first time today with my family. We had the Reuben Sandwich, Pastrami Sandwich and Mushroom/Swiss Burger. All were excellent. The banana pudding for dessert was also amazing. Our server was great and was handling the entire restaurant by herself with a Trainee and did an outstanding job. Will definitely be back. We really want to try breakfast next time.
Our family loves this Coney Island. Reminds me of the places in Michigan. Food is excellent and generous servings. My son really enjoys the Strawberry Banana Nutella waffles. I like their Reuben as well as their breakfast bowls. Check hours of operation before you go. One day we went they were closed. It is a mom and pop place so definitely keep the off day for your staff. But we wanted to go back again the next day when they were open and are glad we did. Been there three times and it has been consistently each time.
Getting to eat at Denton Square’s very own Dix Coney Island was a pleasure, but what made the experience for me was the hospitality, urgency, and friendly demeanor of our waitress. I used to work in the food industry, so I know a hard worker when I see one! Shelby not only informed us of the menu’s best sellers, she kept a good conversation whenever she’d come check in on our table, she kept our table clean, and we never had to request a refill. You can’t compete with the atmosphere here and the food is always made fresh!
The food was hot while coming out, and the seasoning was amazing. The waitresses were very kind and assisted me, my mother, and my baby sister whenever we needed help. The atmosphere was also lovely, and it felt like I was enjoying a nice winter inside of a winter cabin. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back.
Great food for a great price! Staff is always friendly and hardworking, they deliver delicious food every time; breakfast, lunch, or dinner❤️
I ordered the Chicken & Swiss Cheese Omelette, and it was fantastic! The flavors were spot-on, and the ingredients were fresh. The service was excellent too; the girl who served us was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend!
Dix has one of the best Philly steak sandwiches you will ever have in your life. The food can take a while if it is busy but it is because everything is made from scratch and is quality. Jessica is amazing! Always so friendly!
Detroit native. Raised on Lafayette Coney Island (never All American!). Each time I eat here, wonderful memories of happy times with my grandparents and parents flood over me. From the time you walk in and the aroma of Michigan chili fills your sense of smell, it just feels like home. All of the servers are awesome, but Shelby is our favorite—more like a family member than a waitress. Thank you for being a taste of home right around the corner!
My sever was Jessica this evening she was phenomenal! She greeted us as we entered and was just over the top!! Sold us on items we didn’t even come in for and they were delicious! She’s very knowledgeable about the menus and restaurant. I’ve never experienced service like this she was excellent, had lots of patience, professional, and nice. Check on us to see if we like the food, didn’t have to ask for refills it was like she could read our mind! We will be coming back!! Jessica you rock keep up the great work. Everyone had a smile when we left.
Cool little spot with good food! I either get the pastrami burger or pastrami dog with extra seasoning on my fries. The onion rings are great too. Only complaint is the drinks are overpriced so drink water lol
I love all of the servers here so much, especially Shelby, she’s so full of energy and welcoming! Major shoutout to Ed for always making delicious food!
Came in today and Jessica rocked! I was with my kids and husband and she made everyone day! Kids were laughing and had a great time. Food was good and service was great! She went above and beyond. I most definitely will be back and hope she is there to serve us again! This lady was magnificent. This place is truly blessed to have her. We haven't had top tier serve in sometime and she changed that.
I love this place. Threes have always provided great service and the food has always been really tasty and fresh. It's chill and you have great views of downtown. I eat here at least once a month.
We went here for dinner and I ordered the poutine and my daughter had the pastrami dog and a cocktail. The poutine was absolutely delicious and my daughter loved her drink and taste of her pastrami dog. The waitress was so friendly - great service. It wasn’t too busy but it was because we went either Sunday or Monday July 4th weekend. It was clean. The only thing that was odd was where the restrooms are located. You can see where they use part of the other room for storage on way to restroom and it looked a bit cluttered.
Great place to get breakfast. We came in late close to them closing for the night, and it was no problem. The food was great and I'm not really a breakfast for dinner type of person but this was amazing. If you ever in downtown Denton, stop by and get something to eat. The only thing I think they may want to consider is on Friday and Saturday staying open a little later with all the bars they have around.
The Old Reliable American dinner on the square! Don't know what to eat but need somewhere reasonably priced to go with the buds before 11pm? Dix has got you covered with a decently varied but not overwhelmingly large menu with classics and safe dishes. The default hangout spot for my friend group when we can't decide. I'd share a picture of my plate, but I already demolished my meal, lol. Edit: they have alcohol and a happy hour now (2$ off the bar menu)!
The atmosphere was definitely a college vibe. Service was great and downtown area is superb.
The waitress was really helpful and patient with me. It was a great atmosphere see yourself and they're really attentive.
Decided to do some evening letter writing and enjoyed our time here at Dix Coney Island, Food was great the atmosphere was Joyful and relaxed. Our server Shelby is one of the best her costumer service and Demeanor and wonderful qualities were amazing, sweet and kind.
Went for brunch. Ordered what was basically a Denver Omelet and it was great. Could only eat half as it came with a ton of hash browns. Mimosas were good and service was very friendly. Definitely returning soon!
And easy restaurant with friendly service. I ordered the brioche grilled cheese and sweet potatoes fries—loved it! Our server was so welcoming and attentive.
Very Fun and cozy environment on the Square. Got greeted immediately after coming in By a waitress named Jessica very nice and informative about the menu. The customer service was phenomenal. She was so fun and made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. We got our food pretty fast. It wasn't expensive and the Food was amazing!!! We got The Half Texas style french toast, the philly cheese stake omelette, The chicken fried stake with eggs, and the Strawberry Nutella Banana pancakes! Honestly best Diner I've been too here in Denton it's a Must go! We are gonna have Dinner there later again lol Bon Appetit! 😋
Honestly the best food I've eaten in a while. This place was beyond belief tasty. The seasoning on their fries was amazing, and the French toast was great. I got the full order, which came with 6 slices. Tasted kinda like ginger in my opinion. Anyways, the only problem I came across was the syrup bottle being sticky. It was a refillable glass bottle so I'm sure they need to clean them sometimes. There was no wait on a Saturday night.
It was so pretty and absolutely amazing I forgot to get a picture before eating half of it. This is my first visit and I will become a regular. The menu is perfect for everyone. The vibe is very worming and inviting. The waitress was by her self and on point didn't even break a sweat. My glass was always full. Personal pet peeve of mine. All around the best in a strong minute. Not to mention the prices are very affordable.
This review is a long time coming. I've been coming here since 2018 when we used to come after a night of drinking. This place is extremely underrated. Cinnamon roll French toast.. just saying! And the biscuits... heavenly. The food is amazing. But it's not just the food that brings me in. The server jessica is one of the best things about the place as well. Its not just a dining experience when she's working. It's like walking into your family kitchen. She's built up such a rapport with every single one of her customers. Today alone I watched her ask about a customer's granddaughter he usually brings and if she's in school. Then another about a friend that usually comes in with him and how she's been. She truly cares about each customer and remembers each one, their orders, the happenings in their life. I see it every time im here. Its amazing. Go for the food, stay for the customer service! ** I cant believe I forgot about the baklava cheesecake!!! You won't regret it!
Food was good, the onion rings are very crisp and taste great. The burgers were tasty. They were a bit busy but we still got great service
Jessica greeted us warmly as we walked in. Cozy spot for the 3 of us. Service was immediate. While casual, our server was very friendly and gave us plenty of insight into how the menu works and how to upgrade meals. Our food was VERY fresh and was served quickly after our order was placed. While chatting with Jessica, we discovered the restaurant does not serve any pork product, so a great spot for folks who eat "clean." We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. All in all, an excellent experience.
Dix Coney Island is a great spot to check out. Country fried steak and happy hour burgers are my go to. The servers are great all of them. Jessica’s the hardest worker i know, she remembers your order to the tee. Shelby’s very attentive, friendly and fun to chat with. Dix is better than Waffle house.
Went for lunch to try their pastrami dog, but unfortunately they were out cause of the busy labor day weekend. Got a Ruben instead and it was really good. Will definitely go back to try the pastrami made in house.
Jessica was our waitress & she was AMAZING! They were busy, seemed short staffed but that didn’t stop her from having such a positive attitude. Food was amazing too! Will definitely be back.
I’m not going to lie, I didn’t expect this to be a traditional sit down restaurant due to the name; I thought it was a little hot dog shop at first look. That being said, the staff were kind and my food was fantastic. The coffee is also smooth and tasty.
The food was tasty and cooked perfectly! Generous portions for the poutine, country breakfast, and burger. Jennifer was very kind and helpful. We will definitely be back!
Literally my favorite restaurant of all time!! I LOVE CONEYS!! Chicken gyro, yes please! Chocolate chips pancakes, a most definitely! Any type of french fry from regular to sweet potato OMG HEAVEN! If you are ever around Denton square don't miss your chance to come to such an amazing place. With such a sweet & hard working staff what more could you ask for??
First time visiting the area stopped for lunch with my wife! Great experience my server was amazing and the food was really good. We will be back just to eat here again. I wish I could give 10 stars
As a future regular, I have to say Jessica made a huge impression on me. She is the kind of person every restaurant dreams of having. Watching her work and interact with customers was amazing. She knew their names, their orders, even their pets name. That level of care and personal connection is rare these days and made the whole place feel like home. You could tell she’s the heart and soul of this restaurant. Restaurants often talk about great food, but staff like Jessica are what truly make people come back. This place is lucky to have her, and I’ll definitely be returning because of the incredible service she gave.
This place is so yummy! It has a Western diner feel, and the staff is both lovely and helpful. You seat yourself, so of course I chose the neat bar area they have. The menu offers a variety of items, and while I was tempted by the coney dog (which I've had before and was delicious), I decided to try something new: the Avocado Farm Fresh Egg BLT. It was flavorful and a little messy with the runny egg, but I would definitely order again. Be sure to experience this restaurant for yourself!
I ate here recently for the first time and I left so happy. I went on a Saturday morning and even though they were pretty busy my waitress Jessica was very attentive, nice and great with the food recommendations. We ended up ordering a chicken omelette which was the best only I've ever tasted andd the cinnamon roll French toast which for sure is my new addiction. I love this place and will be back soon,
Hands down the best breakfast I've had in a long time. I'm so glad I drove past here and turned around! Anytime I'm in the area I'll be stopping by for this. All your favorite breakfast items but in a bowl. If you haven't tried this you're missing out! I can't wait to bring my family next time I'm in town! The staff was super friendly and outgoing. Great place to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner! You don't want to miss out!

Honestly, love this place. Don't judge a book by its cover super good food. I love the hotdogs. Servers are always super nice and the ambience is great even when it's full.
Great breakfast, great service, great vibes. It has a good ambience for you to hang with friends or to study :)

Great breakfast. There was a problem with the charges later but management handled it professionally and prompt. Would recommend this restaurant highly.

Good food, coney dog was authentic, basic atmosphere, they could possibly add music to get more customers. I've been in Denton for 15 years and didn't know this place was here.
Solid diner... Great staff and service. The bowl I got was close to heaven for me... Biscuits, gravy, perfectly cooked eggs (over medium), beef bacon, potatoes...
Ordered Chicken and waffles, mushroom Swiss burger and a coney. Food was hot and fresh. Only dislike was the smothered coney- as it wasn't as expected from a "Coney Island". You couldn't eat it with your hands and it was just a formal chili and not a true coney sauce. The waffles had a wonderful funnel cake taste and paired great with the waffle. Limited small seating area but was not busy so our awesome server gave great service. Great pop in and eat when in Denton.
The food is really good, but service can be quite slow and my fries with my sandwich were cold. I always like the hot food, but I can't give five stars with these issues.
best pancakes here! this establishment is very diner-like and the wait time is considerably longer because everything is made from scratch— so be patient! be aware that this place is a little bit on the pricier side, but it is very worth it with the large portion size, quality ingredients, and great taste.
Stress less God bless Haven’t had pancakes this good in a long time. So soft actually (Al dente) The etymology is Italian "to the tooth". The only reason why I’m in this small diner on the corner of a historical center of Denton TX is because my cousin is graduating UNT. So proud of him. He brought us here and the place was packed. Delicious food great service. Keep it up. I’ll be back. After a long night at Free Play. Peace
I randomly stopped by Dix Coney Island since I hadn’t tried it yet and wanted to support businesses on the Denton Square. I ordered two coneys with fries, and they were really good—simple, classic, and satisfying. The atmosphere has a cool, nostalgic vibe, and the menu offers a great selection of comfort food and all-day breakfast options. I’ll definitely be back to try more items!
I have been craving Chicken and Waffles for some time now. We called ahead to confirm they did actually have it on the menu and so we came to try it. We had a bit of a wait, started to get concerned when folks that came in after us started to get served first. Eventually our order came in, it was the first time the chicken was ever served covered in powdered sugar. I am used to it being a combination of sweet, the waffle and savory, the chicken. I had it with a side of hashbrowns overall the meal was good, tho I feel that the savory was really missing from the experience.

Nice little place on the Denton Square. Food was very good. Lots of menu choices. Liked that they serve breakfast all day. Service was fast and friendly.
The food was good for what it is, but it was over overpriced. We could have gone to a real restaurant rather than a diner for the same amount of money that we paid. I've visited this place a few …
The pastrami was too salty and dried out burger was similar to what you get at a Dairy Queen but a lot higher.

We were looking for a breakfast place along our journey home. Came across Dix Coney Island. Was very disappointed. It was crowded, and we understood that. 2 wait staff, 2 cooks any one person bussing tables. As a former waitress I know how taxing this can be. However, we waited 15 minutes for service, (almost left just before she appeared) and after we ordered an hour for our food. Some who had seated after us received their meals before us. Eggs were cooked on point. Everything else, mediocre at best.
Could be a great place, but they ruined a perfectly good Rueben (real corned beef, rye, and thousand island) with American cheese instead of real Swiss. Fries were delicious and service was great though.
My boyfriend loved his Rueben, but it came with no side and was expensive, my food was just regular not exactly bad but not memorable. I know rent is expensive on the square but it's so expensive here, after a simple breakfast plate, one oj (like Minute Maid not good oj) , and a sandwich with no side (and it wasn't a massive Rueben, they also put everything hot on the flat top n mixed it which he liked but I did not) it was almost 40$. everything was very salty and oily. I would go back if it was open 24 hrs like advertised just off conveniences.
The service is good. The food is average to good but not phenomenal. I feel the place has declined in cleanliness a bit as there is usually smell now. Menu items have changed since they first opened so the same ingredients isn't used and thus the flavor has changed, especially in their mozzarella cheese sticks which used to be pretty amazing with their homemade ranch. Waitresses are usually great!
Definitely would have been a five star review. But the service was HORRENDOUS. This is our second time eating here and last time it was great! But this was TRASH! Took awhile to get our drinks, then an awhile to get our order. They were not busy. The food came quickly and was super good! The waitress gave us our food and never checked on us again. Never asked if we needed anything. Or even asked if needed more water. My husbands cup was empty the whole time then mine. Then she got food and ate it at the counter were you can see you needed refills. Then the other waitress just sat at the counter talking on the phone the whole time. Then our waitress was walking around and made eye contact with us numerous times and still did not come over to get us refills. Literally just ignored us. Then when she finally came back all she did was drop the check off and said “ this is ready when you are.” We will be back again for the food but hopefully have a different waitress!!!
My bf western omelet was ok the hashbrows were half cooked and half mushy my sons Ruben can't remember the name it had pastrami instead of corn beef that they were out of barely had any meat in it and maybe a string or 2 of Sauerkraut the bread was over toasted the best thing was my waffle it was big and had lots of fruit on it was worth the price

The inside is neat, but the floors are disguising and they have uncomfortable seating. Just a heads up, it is pretty small. The biscuits and gravy are so good; other than that the food is pretty mid. Definitely isn’t worth the price.
The Avocado on the burger should not have been served. It was old. Also, the patty was broken into two pieces. Thankfully, the server replaced both. The hot dogs are way overpriced for the amount and quality of food you get (see picture). They’re basically something you could get at your local grocery store in a pack of 8 for 5 bucks. For the price, I would say this place was not worth it, but I did appreciate the kind service after I voiced my complaints with the burger

Normally Dix is great it is my girlfriends favorite restaurant. Our most recent visit ended with us leaving without eating. We ordered and waited about 40 minutes before I stood up to see of they where preparing our food. Our server who had been rude to others in the kitchen and guests told me that my food was being made and the cooks where busy with other orders so I should just sit back down and wait. She then realized the kitchen wasn't making the food because she lost the ticket. So she came over told us the situation and we decided to wait. Big mistake! When our food arrived 20 minutes later my Gyro meat was uncut on a flat pice of pita bread with no sauce on the plate at all. My fries where still being cooked as well. I asked why my meat was 3 slabs of lamb and she said they don't cut it. I HEARD HER SAYING TO NOT CUT IT TO KITCHEN STAFF! I said yes you do I have been here before and it is cut and she said I was wrong. I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to go and we left. Unacceptable service from a horrible server. I didn't get her name but she was working today about 20 minutes ago. Truly we liked Dix but now we will be waiting a few months to return in hopes that this horrible woman is fired and we never need to deal with her again.
Can’t believe I had to pay 70$ just to season my own food .. never coming back to this place . 70$ is crazy for 3 people just saying .
Very disappointed in my experience at Coney Island. We got in the restaurant at around 10:20pm and expected to have more than enough time to eat a quick meal before they closed at 11pm. We sat ourselves (past this camera crew that was taking up half of the restaurant for a film project) and sat without being acknowledged by either of the 2 waitresses for nearly 20 minutes. Finally, we flagged down a waitress that was serving a nearby table. She moved as if she wasn’t going to initially talk to us until we literally spoke up at her and made direct eye contact with her. After we finally got her attention, she told us that it was too late to order in and they were only doing to-go orders at this point. I have never in my life heard of a restaurant doing to-go orders only when they are still operating within their posted hours. Not to mention, if we had known that 20 minutes prior we wouldn’t have wasted our time sitting there. We got up and left to another restaurant close by on the square. I had been looking forward to going to Coney Island for the first time in a few years, but it seems like I have not been missing much. Additionally, I heard the food quality has dropped in recent months anyway from people who were eating there next to us. It’s hard to imagine I will give this place another try after the blatant disregard for us.
I used to love coming to this place with my friends and younger brothers but recently I had the worst experience when I went out for brunch with my boyfriend. The food was not as good as I remembered (I always ordered the chicken and waffles) but what really made the experience unpleasant was the service from beginning to end. Our waitress seemed like she’s was having a rough morning, which was understandable since it was Sunday around 11am and she was the only one there. But that made no excuse for her to not have greeted us, or checked up on us a single time while she was being bubbly and checking up on the table behind and in front of us. We ordered a side of hash browns that we ended up not liking so we put it to the side. I was waiting for our waitress to pass by so I could tell her to return them, but she never did. Our waters were never filled and I ended up giving my boyfriend mine. We ate what we could, and I stacked up the plates and pushed them to the edge while we waited for our check. 15 minutes passed and she still never came to check up on us. We ended up walking up to the register to check out, and I brought up how we didn’t like the hash browns and we didn’t eat them. I asked if she could take it off out our check, and she replied with “you should of told me before” That was the cherry on the cake to piss me off Out total came out to about $41 and she didn’t even bother to give us the receipt I would of asked for it, but since I was pissed I decided to be better to walk away Hate to be “that person” but quite honestly I won’t come back here again
I am not the one that likes to post reviews at all! From Detroit! I have come here before because of the coneys. When I came into the restaurant I order 2 coneys. This picture below is what I got! I am super disappointed when I receive my plate! Really on white grilled toast! Won't recommend this place again when I see other Michiganders! If someone asks for good place to eat some coneys not here!
Came here for breakfast on a beautiful snowy day, had to wait 15 minutes before even getting our water and coffee. Our waitress was nice, But tables who got there after us got served first even though their order was larger and taken after ours. We sat and watched food sit on the heated expo for 10 minutes before the waiters even noticed them. Manager was absent. Eventually got our food and it was cold, and mediocre at best. Had to have the waitress re-heat it. She did and said she would give us a discount, which she forgot to do when she gave us the check. She did fix it for us when we mentioned it. Atmosphere is lively and nice, but wouldn't recommend to come here at a busy time or expect much.
Waitress should clean the seats better. They judged us based on us standing. We didn’t say anything but one of the waitresses decided to judge. Mind you they were helpful and cleaned the seats off. This made my significant other uncomfortable for them judging us. Hopefully this restaurant will improve!
McDonald’s size patty with McDonald’s quality service- except the prices are higher and you’re expected to tip. Waited 25 minutes for a burger and I never got a refill. Will not come back.
The food was alright. It was fine but nothing to write home about. My main issue was we had really poor service. Had to ask for coffee twice before receiving one (which tasted bad), never got a refill on drinks -my husband ended up drinking my water instead, wasn’t checked on until it was bill time. I had one napkin to work with my entire meal and it was a messy one. It might be a great place for some people. I noticed the other waitress being very friendly and that they were all very welcoming to regulars but for us this was the worst service we’ve had in some time and I left unhappy.
