My wife and I were looking for a place to eat and we stumbled on Hoochies. She had Oysters and Coconut Shrimp that were outstanding. I had the chicken street tacos that I could eat every day. Every member of the staff had smiles on their faces. This is a new favorite place of ours now.

First time coming and will definitely be back. Everything on our platter was very delicious. The prices is reasonable for sea food and they allow pets on the patio.

Awesome! We had oysters on the half shell, hot boiled shrimp, and fried catfish! Everything was hot, delicious and fresh! Even the steak fries were crispy! Like beer? They have 805 On Tap from Paso Robles, Ca. it is light and not to be missed! We had picky eaters and little children in our party, and they all LOVED THE FOOD! Parking on the street nearby was plentiful and free. Very highly recommended!

The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere. There is always good music playing and service is always top tier. They have a great variety of different dishes for adults and kids and their draft beer selection is my favorite. This is a top 5 favorite places in Denton and would recommend to anyone passing through.

Great place! Loved the mud bugs. The oysters are delish as well as the boiled shrimp. The cold beer We drank alongside the spicy crawfish are a great combination. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a cajun owner. Glad they survived the pandemic shutdown in Denton, Texas. They are worth the drive! If you're a Jeep lover there's a shop across the street and you'll park along side your fellow Jeople. After dinner walk around downtown for a bit and visit the other shops that are open. I came up to Denton for a Seminar, and I decided to go to Hoochies on July 14th, 2021, and this place was FABULOUS!! I was not disappointed at all. I purchased the pick 2 fried combo, and I picked fried shrimp, fried catish, steak fries, hush puppies, and I purchased a side of coleslaw. The food came out HOT and FRESH! Hoochies is one of my favorite lunch spots in Denton; it is very conveniently located in downtown snd offers a variety of options when it comes to menu. I visit this place for lunch usually. My favorites include blackened salmon with rice and salad, grilled shrimps, and tacos. The food quality is top notch and is always served fresh. The staff is very friendly and is always eager to help clients. For my lunch yesterday i had blackened Salmon with coleslaw and rice and like always it was delicious. I forgot to take pictures but i promise in my next trip I will take pictures of my meal and update them, but rest assured the food quality is so spot on. If you are in Denton downtown and are in mood for good food, stop by at Hoochies and enjoy the delicious food to your fill.

Awesome little place in downtown Denton! Walk in and order at the counter. The wife and I were going back and forth because i wanted crab, shrimp, sausage, taters you know the works! Well she wanted some tacos and told me to just get the dungeoness crab. So I did. Well, and hush puppies cause why not🤷‍♂️. A few minutes later the hush puppies and tacos came out. Such a HUGE portion of pups for $3.99! Then the gentleman came out of the kitchen screaming "Kevin" so I raised my hand and said here! He set it down, (they give a large silver bowl for remnants) the bowl was covering the platter. He said here you go, enjoy the shrimp, potatoes etc! So I dug in! In absolute heaven. The wife then Informed me I had the platter meant for two. $39.99 I kept eating and the older gentleman came by and asked how everything was. And said boy did you get a bonus tonight! It's a fun, casual place with good, solid food at reasonable prices. I had the shrimp po-boy with steak fries and was very pleased. It wasn't like a knock-off of a New Orleans po-boy, which I appreciated. The service was great. You order a the counter and they bring out the food and check on you throughout the meal (i'm sure if they're slammed, you might get your name called and you get your food from the window) Everyone was friendly and helpful and the large windows all around the place are great for people watching. There were some TVs, but they were small and unobtrusive, so they weren't distracting (nothing worse than going out to eat and everyone spending the time staring at a tv) Bottom line- I would recommend. I would like to go back and try one of their boils. The table next to mine had one and it looked like quite the meal (and they have an automatic handwashing station in the dining area so you can clean up after peeling all that shrimp or crawfish!)

I love Hoochies. They are a great seafood catch, great atmosphere smells great. I love getting their house salad with house made honey vinagrette. It’s a hit every time- good sized bowl for the price $6.50. They make their own ranch and tartar sauce and together they make a great sauce too. I also love to order an order of boiled potatoes and add the spicy seasoning then dip in the tartar sauce and ranch. They have daily specials too. They have a great price on lone star draft- $2 for a short and its tasty everytime- although from time to time the draft comes out only foam so the owner needs to fix that issue. I will always be a for-life customer.

I don't think I'll buy wings again, as you can see 12 wingetts were 18.00 dollars. Thats expensive for technically 6 wings, but they were good. They also do military discount. I would go back.

This place should have at least 4.9 Stars. All the employess working on 10/05/2025 were amazing. Food was hot, fresh, and they kept me stocked up on the amazing tartar sauce. Fried Cod was hot, crispy and delicious. Hushpuppies were different than I was used to but very tasty. Also got the mexican shrip cocktail and the coconut ship and both were great. We will def return for some more amazing seafood!

Fried catfish, shrimp, hush puppies and steak fries was very good. Catfish was full slabs, not nuggets, which I really enjoy, loved the cornmeal batter on the fish. Huge portions. Wife enjoyed her salmon salad, salmon was a bit overcooked but very tasty. We will be back for a boil in the future.

Big fans of Hoochies! We come here for seafood and drinks, it checks all those boxes. They have plenty of classic beers, sometimes they run out of what’s on draft without clear communication about it. They also offer wine margaritas. I really appreciate the decor, and their unique tartar sauce and hush puppies. That’s what stood out the most for me when I first tried this place. It’s different from most other seafood places and it’s so good! We love the Gulf oysters too! I had never eaten oysters before, didn’t know what to expect at first, but my shellmate knew exactly how to dress them with a little horseradish and cocktail sauce. I’m a big fan now, and this place was a great first experience. I do wish their crawfish were seasoned a bit more, it’s still our first choice regardless. They will sell out during crawfish season and you may not find out until after you’ve waited in line. Sometimes it can be difficult to get a table, but clearly that doesn’t stop us from going and that’s kind of the norm during that time. Super yummy and always enjoyable!

What a wonderful little surprise in the middle of Denton!!! We ordered a bit of everything! Salmon for the kids, which they loved. The oysters tasted so fresh, no grit! Really well cleaned. Had the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail, it was SPICY and delicious! The fried okra had a nice hearty cornmeal batter and didn't crumble when we ate it. My husband had the fish of the day, can't remember what it was, but it was also good and tasted fresh! Will 100% be returning! We have already told our friends and family about it!

This was my first time here and I must admit the food was actually good! The staff is friendly and service was decent. I ordered seafood gumbo and it was real good, catfish basket and a side of Cole slaw. The catfish basket only comes with one pc of fish...a little shocking because it's usually two pieces at the least bit it was filling! The hush puppies are square.... cute! The fries are steak fried and the side order of Cole slaw was a large portion. Overall it was a great experience and my family and I loved it! We went here for lunch to celebrate someone retiring. It's been quite a while since I've been here. I decided to try something other than fried seafood, so I went with the shrimp and fish taco plate. It was good, but I would have gone with the $3.50 taco instead of the plate. It was taco Tuesday. I would have saved about $10.00. I didn't like or eat the rice. When i placed my order, I asked about a substitute, which I chose not to substitute. But wasn't advised by the cashier to just order the two individual tacos instead. I'm don't think this will keep me from going again, particularly since it's a pretty good seafood spot.

Hoochies, what can I say..if there is a cajun style restaurant in North Texas on this side of the Mississippi that will continue to get me back to eat it's this place. All the food is fresh and tastes as good as down in New Orleans. The staff is friendly and polite and if there is anything you ever need they always try to accommodate. The decor and ambiance is relaxed and true cajun style. One of my personal favorites are the fresh Oysters.

This was a great little seafood spot in Denton. The fried catfish was great. The spot is also pet friendly which was a plus for a pet lover like me. I saw a beautiful golden doodle pup. I also had the opportunity to speak with one of the owners and he was friendly and extremely helpful. The place was packed. I’m not sure if it was because of UNT’s homecoming or if it’s the usual for a Saturday night. I’ll be back. Great food and great service.

The staff ifrd super friendly. The fish and shrimp combo is my go to. I only wish they'd season the fish a little better or the cornmeal. The seasoning normally falls off once I get it and the Old Bay they offer at the seasoning bar is more for a kick, rather than actually seasoning. I ask everytime and everytime it doesn't happen, so I suck it up, because it's the only downfall. I think a strawberry margarita machine would be perfect!

I see that Hoochies is doing some remodeling which is the only issue I ever had with the place. Nice people. Great food. The atmosphere felt very camped and cluttered. The old colors looked alright but seemed more suited for a country kitchen rather than a seafood joint. This blue and white scheme seems like a major improvement. Cant wait for them to reopen to see the interior and enjoy some good seafood. If the remodel impresses this will turn into a 5 star review.

I went to Hoochies yesterday craving a shrimp po boy. Ordered it and when it came to me literally had “ONLY” 3 shrimp. What the Hell? I use to eat here all the time and the gave plenty of shrimp on the po boy. I literally had more bread than shrimp. The fries were lukewarm and the bad part was it wasn’t even busy in there. Empty tables everywhere. Asked for corn and potatoes and received a tiny potato cut in half and a 3rd of a corn for $3. I know things have changed but damn don’t over charge for 3 shrimp, a micro corn and mini potato. That was my last time eating there and last time referring anybody there for a shrimp po boy. I recommend going elsewhere if you want your money worth.

Sunday,, Jan 7th I went there to place a pickup order. The catfish doesn’t look like, smell like nor taste like real catfish and it smells bad. The batter didn’t stick to the fish, there was a layer of air between the fish and the batter. I went back and returned the entire order $65 for a full refund, there was no manger on staff, afree 15 minutes of going back and forth with the young staff they issued a credit card refund. Two days later, I discovered that they cancelled my credit card refund and still has my money along with the food that I returned. I’m am going to file a complaint with their corporate office next, then file a complaint with my bank, the local consumer protection agency and the Better Business Bureau. I will come back with updates on this matter.

We visited here on Sunday, May 4. 2025. Do not eat the crawfish! We had 5 pounds of crawfish. It was in was inedible! 4 of us tried to eat it. 🤮 Honestly, the most horrible tasting crawfish I’ve ever experienced. Not purged? And more expensive than Shuck Me Never again Hoochies I want a $70 refund or credit. ($12.95 a pound) Other things are good here. But crawfish is dangerous.

Looking for a seafoods food in Denton area this is one top and good reviews. So stop by and give a try before heading home to Arlington. Food is just alright NOT as excellent what the reviews said but keep you alive!!

I'm reading the reviews and they are amazing. I hate to say this...I was there Easter and the food was very distasteful. The fried catfish my friend had was horrible. We asked was the fish frozen and the response was "YES it is" The fried green tomatoes tasted old. Zack (the manager)was outstanding. Great customer service through and through. The food wasn't up to par for the prices I worked years in the restaurant industry from Florida to Houston and Dallas. This place by far needs to kick it up several notches. For the price the owner of Hoochies is expecting. ..The food should NEVER BE FROZEN. I was extremely disappointed in the food.

The menu looked good came here ordered a couple of things the food is garbage the seasoning is horrendous Staff are semi friendly but banned the chairs around while inside still eating They asked for a tip but didn't serve me or fill up my drinks or do anything for my table I will never come here again possibly the worst seafood I've ever had in my life

Got to-go orders last night. Waited 25 minutes. Shrimp po-boy had 3 shrimp. Not large, super-sized shrimp, just 3 medium shrimp and a whole lotta bread. No remoulade sauce, just mayonnaise. Got catfish, which was just OK, bad tartar sauce and no cocktail sauce. Our meals were really just French fries with a little bit of fish on the side. There are lots of other options in the town. Try Frillies.

Food was terrible. The awning fell down while we were there, and the owner came and scratched someone’s Audi with his outdoor umbrella while he was taking down the fallen awning. Terrible experience overall.

First time coming here. I was very disappointed, I met someone who raved about the fried catfish and I was so excited to try it. The catfish was pretty much inedible. It tasted dirty and the batter wasn’t really holding well. The fried oysters were small and mostly batter. Fries were fries and the hush puppies were decent. More of like a corn bread style. For the price and the taste, I can’t say I have a desire to go back. Staff was friendly. There were quite a few empty dirty tables while I was in there and it wasn’t overly busy.
